I typically enjoy the food, the drinks are great, coffee is great, and atmosphere isn't anything horrible or anything. Although, I have been sat down for the last hour and got told that there were 3 orders ahead of my table. Which I do not understand because while sitting here, I've seen north of 5 tables finish up eating and leave. The service is usually a hit or miss, mostly a miss. Serioslusly, this is my go to road trip place when I'm traveling from Louisville to Indy and need a quick bite. I don't have a neighborhood Denny's, so it usually satisfies a craving and some nostalgia. I generally get the same thing, moons over myhammy, and hasbrowns smothered and covered. My sweet young new waitress worked the add ons and made me +$10 hasbrowns which was different than how I remember ordering. (See receipt pic, lol!) Just had lunch with my family here on our way to TN. The food had little flavor. Price was average. The place was run down and dirty. Just ONE middle aged waitress working 12 full tables by herself. All the while a lazy young thing plays hostess and occasionally pics up a few dirty dishes. The other one seemed clueless. She was walking in circles trying to look busy on the same ticket. Food was undercooked and when I asked it to be cooked longer, The cooks were rude. When it was returned, this is the plate of "food" I received. It was supposed to be healthy egg white and turkey bacon, but it was swimming in grease and butter. I have been to this Denny's multiple times with bad experiences every time. The food selection is great overall and the quality is good. The way the store is run definitely needs an improvement. I have called cooperate on this store one time because of a bad experience I had there with my son. Around 2:30pm was when my son and I arrived and the store was not too bust with only 6 tables being used. I was at the register waiting to sit down for a 10 mins till I decided they were busy and I sat myself. I sat to the right of the store where another customer was sitting at the table. behind us. When we sat down the waitress decided to move a pop-up stand in front of the entrance to that side of the restaurant. She than became agitated and rude to us while we were there. After reading the reviews we were a bit hesitant to stop. But I'm glad we did. The service was excellent, thanks to our very friendly and attentive server, Amber R. She made sure our drinks remained full, brought me a to-go cup, and was just great all around. Our food came out quickly enough and was hot and fresh. I went to this Denny's today with my son. We ordered our food and sat waiting. While waiting I look over by the area where servers go to grab food that's up so it can be taken to customers, and I see my server coughing all over without covering her mouth, and then she immediately proceeded to deliver food to waiting customers. Didn't go wash her hands, didn't even use any hand sanitizer. There is currently a global pandemic and everyone on the planet is being told to wash their hands frequently and thoroughly, to use hand sanitizer, and to just all around stop being gross to slow the spread of this virus. The Denny's here attracts an older crowd. Who is in the most danger from this virus? The older crowd. Who did this server go deliver food to after she coughed god knows what all over the bar and food serving station? The older crowd. I complained to the manager Sylvia and told her I would not be eating there due to this. She stared at me in shock like I was an idiot. Maybe it's a good idea to sit your staff down and tell them that their disgusting ignorance is going to make people sick. And let's just be honest here. Even if there wasn't a viral outbreak, coughing all over everything in a restaurant is just plain disgusting. Denny's in Scottsburg or not, have some common sense and some awareness. To begin, at least four employees looked at me, my sister, and nephew and they all walked away from the front. They continued to make us wait to be seated for 5 minutes before they said "somebody will be right with you" as all the employees continued to walk back into the kitchen. When we finally did get seated every employee was pointing and whispering at our table instead of doing their job and helping us out. They continued to sit everybody who came in after us IMMEDIATELY as they came in. Every employee in this building continue to stare us down and honestly they're about to get pancakes to the face. Our experience was different than other previous negative reviews. I didn't expect much out of a Denny's but was pleasantly surprised. This location is easy on/off I-65. Jennifer who would end up being our server greeted us before we even got through the front door. She quickly seated us and came back for our order. She was pleasant, efficient, and patient, a triple combo not always found in servers. Ok food! Food came quick and was hot. Biscuit and hash browns were excellent, Country-fried steak was tasty, but obviously pre made and kinda firm/dry. However there were guests, who I believe were spouses of the waitresses, would reach behind the counter on their own and grab things. Had a hankering for a steak so I got a T-Bone.
