A stopover on our way to Tacoma was Denny's. We were tired and wanted something close to the hotel. I haven't been to a Denny's in so long and felt like I was in a time warp with the decor and overall experience. The food was mediocre. We had the Dipping appetizer and the zesty nachos. They were out of Pico so we asked for jalapenos. The jalapenos ended up being 1.99 add on charge. We asked for salsa and never received it. No sour cream was on the nachos. The service was very poor and although she was the only person serving, she forgot what we ordered and the wait time for everything was incredibly long. I have a lot of patience for someone who is on their own but not for ongoing forgetfulness. For dessert, we got a cheesecake and that was the best tasting part of our meal. We had to wait a very long time for this piece of cheesecake. Overall our experience was very poor. I would not recommend this place for the price nor the food. read more

I should have read the reviews before going in. Inside was like any other Dennys. Ordered the t-bone and got broccoli, red skinned potatoes, and toasted bread. Followed up with chocolate chip cookie pie Ala mode. Most of the medium rare steak was decent and cooked right. Their menu description is right - uniquely seasoned steak. It wasn't bad. Some of the outer fat was grizzly. The broccoli was ok while the potatoes were baked and old enough that you couldn't tell they were red. Place started to get busy, including a party of 10. I expected a slow down in service and wasn't disappointed. I got up a few minutes after being promised my check. I found my waitress in a booth, back to customers, and talking on her cell phone. She got up and apologized. It hurt her tip. She must do that quite a bit because she only has a flip phone. read more

I've been to plenty of wonderful Denny's, but this one was depressing and disappointing. Been here 3 times to give them a chance, I always believe in 3 chances. Tables are always dirty, the food is sadly mediocre. Sausage links are the size of my pinky and their scrambled eggs are watered down. There's an unpleasant woman who works there that doesn't have any patience or grace. It seems her only job is to call the Tow Trucks and complain about people who park in the vast empty lot next to Joy Garden. Maybe if you had better service and food, AND WORKERS, maybe people would enjoy their time at Dennys. Don't really know why they own the lot directly next to Joy Gardens building since the entire lot in front of Dennys is ALWAYS empty. The Beautiful young lady who manages this Denny's has the cleanest Denny's I've ever seen! I caught her scrubbing in the restrooms & wrapping silverware. The young man who greeted us was refined as though he was at a high end fine dining establishment. Our waitress was delightful even though she had several tables plus the bar. Other staff members assisted too just as pleasant! The busboy worked very quickly efficiently & with a smile on his face. Absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced. We came to get a wholesome Denny's brunch on Veterans Day. The place was busy, but we were seated immediately and there were open tables. It took our server, Karen, over 25 minutes to acknowledge our presence after walking past our table at least 5 times. She finally came over and asked us if we were ready to order. We told her that we would like coffee and waters around with my father in law wanting decaf. This confused Karen but she managed to press through and take our order. Not a complicated order since two of us were getting the free grand slam, and there were only four of us. We had to repeat one order a couple times. Now the wait. It took ten minutes for Karen to bring 3 coffees (no water). We were in fact about to walk when she came back. We reminded her that we ordered 4 coffees to which she gave us a look and walked away. A couple minutes later she came back with another coffee and a small carafe ( no idea if my father in law's Wa actually decaf, and he didn't get a refill carafe) which she slammed down on the table ( not kidding). Food came out an hour after sitting down and was correct and thankfully standard good Denny's fare. We ate and then sat, and sat. No check-in from Karen at allKaren walked by us a few times after we had finished and stacked our empty dishes at the end of the table. No check- in at all after we got our food. We finally went to the front and had the hostess pull up our check so we could pay. Karen was right there and still didn't say anything. There's a separate bar, which is great for those of us who want an adult atmosphere. AARP members get 15% off total bill at all times. I've been to countless Denny's in my 40+ years, mostly in Washington State, and I have been generally pleased with my meals. This was my first (and last) visit to this particular location. I've never had a worse meal from Denny's. I'm a fairly picky eater, but I ordered something really simple, and very difficult to screw up. It was basically a meat-lover's slam: 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, a slice of ham, a "hearty" sausage (not the little links), hashbrowns, and sourdough toast. To-Go, I ordered their strawberry hush puppies, which I normally love. The hashbrowns were good. The 2 toast halves that came buttered were pretty good. That's it. The flavor of the hearty sausage was good, but it was overcooked and tough. The ham was overcooked and tough. The bacon was utterly flavorless (HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!?!), except for a slight gamey aftertaste. Until the aftertaste hit, it was like eating a crispy strip of greasy air. Not even salty! The eggs had the flavor eggs get when they've been in the fridge for too long, soaking up all the flavors of whatever the inside of the fridge smells like. I asked the waitress for more butter for the 2 toast halves that didn't have any butter on them. She brought me back a weird little sauce cup with some yellow liquid in it. Which was weird to begin with, but the sauce had stuff floating in it. Black chunks. I have included a photo - whatever specks of stuff you see inside the little cup of liquid were there when she handed it to me. In any case, this was NOT butter. I poured a bit on each slice of still-warm toast, and spread it. And left it. I took the attached picture just before I left the table after my meal was over - about 15 minutes later. The liquid just stayed on the surface of the toast without ever soaking in. The hush puppies came burnt on the outside, and overcooked/dry on the inside. The table was covered in a tacky residue. I don't know if it was from something in the restaurant, something in the food, or was unrelated, but I developed a headache shortly before my meal ended. The waitress was inattentive. I gave her a lot of grace at first, because there was a large party there when I arrived, but her attention continued to be hard to get even after they left. She was nice, but I'd prefer competence. We arrived about 4:25 pm, and our order was taken in a reasonable amount of time. But we didn't get our meal until 5:10 pm! Our server Maranda G was pleasant and attentive. My concern is why did it take so long to get our meal?! We're under the impression that Yakima WA is now in Phase 2, therefore restaurants can have up to 25 % capacity. Therefore, why did it take 40 mins to get our meals? Could it be since restaurants have been only able to do curbside for so long that they've gotten out of practice in getting diner's meals ready in a more timely manner? YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED ! i went today for a birthday grand slam and a free promotion burger they had today. all of a sudden "you can't combine 2 discounts in 1" did not offer us 2 separate checks so we can get the discounts. Nor did they give us the 20% off in your birthday month like it says. We ended up paying $26.12 when today should have came out to around $10. Just to be nice to the waitress we tipped. This is probably the worst restaurant in Yakima. I would recommend you and your family not to go here. It used to be a good place to go out to eat with your family, not so much anymore. I just left this place and I got a few things that were not ordered correctly. First of all I asked for regular fries not seasoned fries I waited until they brought me the regular ones and this was not until everyone was done eating. Second I told them I wanted chocolate milk for my niece they brought her hot chocolate which she couldn't drink because it was too hot. I also ordered the cups they have on their kids menu (Trolls) and they told me they had them so I ordered two only to find out about 10 mins later they were out and only had snowmen ones. I also asked for a refill on my Coke and was told they charge for refills now? What a joke. After all the mistakes they made they can't even bother to give out free refills? By the way I waited and waited for about 5 mins after I got my to go box for my check and my waitress was nowhere to be found. Never going again and I would advise you to not go either. read more

I put it on the napkin and told our waitress who was EXTREMELY SLOW and forgot our order SEVERAL times. She said "oh" and then walked off with my drink. The food came out. Nasty veggie burger. So salty and old I couldn't believe it. My husbands order came out wrong, but the omelette they brought was swimming in grease.
