Who doesn't know Denny's. They serve anything from burger to salads, but let's be honest you came here for the breakfast. Eggs, toast, hash browns, pancakes, bacon, sausage, omelettes, just about anything breakfast under the sun. Located in Wharton across the highway from Bucc-ees. Most folks are locals. I've eaten here twice and have had great service both times. The waitresses don't even write down your order even if you make changes to the menu. How do they remember all that? They definitely take pride in their job. The cashiers and everyone else smiles, greet you when you come and go. Small town charm. The food... standard Denny's. I mean its breakfast food. This was my first visit to this location. I got the strawberry vanilla crepe. It was ok. I think the vanilla was affecting the taste as it wasn't that great. It looked pretty tho. The eggs, hash, & bacon was fine. I also ordered the green juice. Husband and I came to Wharton for business, went to Dennys the night of arrival and were told that there would be a 25 minute wait, no one was in the building at the time but ok, we decided to go next door to whataburger. First appearance is imperative to me! As my family and I walk into Denny's the first thing I hear is a loud voice coming from the kitchen area as I look up at the person talking the first thing I notice was her mask off her face Next, our waitress didn't introduce herself and I notice she wasn't wearing her name tag! After seating us and bringing our drinks we had to get another co- worker to tell her we was ready to order our food. Afterward, I notice the whole staff isn't wearing their mask correctly either they have it on their chin or just covering their mouth. Also, no staff was wearing gloves! We go here often, but after last night it will be a long time before we go back again. It was not busy, however we placed our drink order it took over 20 minutes for the server to come and tell us they don't have oreos for the shakes the grandkids ordered so they ordered a different kind. Later when the drinks came, we got them except my tea, was told she will be right back with it. The food came and we did not have utensils to eat with and the server was not bringing them so I went to get them. Did not get any napkins so I went to find some, and still did not get my tea. After a few minutes after our food arrived, I was told they are out of tea. This was about 45 minutes after we ordered our drinks. At check out, could not use the AARP discount because nobody there knew how to apply it, then they would not take the tiger card discount because they did not know what it was, when I showed it to them they did not know how to apply it. in summary, did not have the drinks we wanted, could not get utensils until sometime after food arrived, had to go find napkins myself, could not use any discounts we normally use, and was still charged for the tea they did not have when they gave me a glass of water. Worse place to eat. They had a 6 month baby boy there and the waitress kept carrying him around and even taking him to the back to the kitchen. Very unsafe for that child. There was a man also doing the silverware and he dropped a good amount of silverware on the floor, he just picked it up and put them there to be rolled up and passed out. Food was NASTY! I don't usually write negative reviews for restaurants, but I was very displeased with the overall service of this restaurant mainly with staff getting my order wrong, and I would like to help them fix this mistake as to not do this again. This afternoon, I had ordered the Beyond burger and had received a burger made with real meat and was told it was a Beyond burger. After close inspection and double checking with the chef, it was concluded that my order was wrong and that it was actually meat in which my order had to be remade. I am not trying to get anyone fired or anything like that. I just want them to know to take dietary restrictions more seriously as people abstaining from eating meat do so for many reasons including allergen, dietary intolerance, and religious and/or other lifestyle reasons which makes it necessary for staff to be honest with their customers to ensure an enjoyable dining experience. In addition, I would also like to urge them to make sure that staff are on point with good quality customer service in general. I've eaten at this location before numerous times before and this is the first time that something like this has happened, so I know that they can do better. Went in and was seated fairly quickly being told they would be right back to get our drink order. We waited for about 15 minutes and no one ever came to our table. Another couple came in and was seated a couple tables away and had their drink order taken as they were sitting down! That's when we got up and left. My husband and I went to Denny's in Wharton on January 15, 2021. My husbad ordered a chicken fried steak. They came back to tell us there was no white gravy, only brown gravy. He did not want brown gravy and asked to change his order to something else. They refused and told him to eat it without any gravy! I told them that he could choke being that he had a stroke years ago and has problems swallowing. Yet she refused to change the order. So we got the meal and paid for it, although he did not eat the chicken fried steak. They didn't even offer to deduct it from the ticket or compensate us in any kind of way. What resteraunt will not allow a change in the order before the order was even served? So dissappointed and felt discriminated against being seniors. We have travelled estensively and have always enjoyed meals at Denny's. This was absolutely a horrible experience. We will never stop at Denny's in Wharton again. read more

When I went here recently, the service was slow, we didn't get a full set of silverware, the drinks tasted funny, we had to ask for pancake syrup and butter, and was overall a terrible experience.
