Bbq all you can eat plate (initial plate)
    Alice H.

We drove all the way out here for all you can eat bbq on Saturday. I think this place is the only restaurant in town so serves multiple cuisines. The bbq is legit and so worth it. If you order AYCE, you get an initial plate of one rib, 5-6 sausages, 3-4 brisket slices, two sides and a cup of tea. After you finish most of the meat, you can start ordering additional meat a la carte. I got the fried okra and baked potato casserole. So good! The fried okra was perfectly breaded and not over seasoned. Casserole so good too - couldn't finish all of it because I was focusing on the meat. No refills on sides! The plate comes with a little container of bbq sauce. It's on the sweet side and went nicely with the bbq. Now to the good part... ribs are some of the best I've had. I'm super picky about ribs and these are just the right consistency. The sausage is also the not mealy type, which I prefer. Then comes the brisket... both the marbled and lean are fantastic. The smokiness on all the meat is great. At the end you get a small cup of banana pudding, which is a nice end to the meal. FYI the bbq only lasts until 2 or when the meat runs out. We showed up a little after noon and it was pretty busy. We got our food around 12:30. By the time 1 pm rolled around they were out of everything but sausage and brisket. We didn't try to order thirds because we were stuffed! Shout out to the waitress who was super nice - she looked to be waiting all the tables on her own.

    16 ounce ribeye medium rare

You wouldn't expect to find a steak this good in a town this small, but this place delivers! Thursday night is steak night, and they feature a fantastic rib eye that is sold by the ounce. The dinner includes two sides, and I started the meal with a salad that was fresh and crisp and came with croutons and even some crackers on the side that were a nice edition. I ordered a 16 ounce steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. The outer char on the steak was perfect and made me think of some of the better steak houses in Vegas (but at a much better price!) I asked for steak sauce but never even opened the bottle as the flavor of the steak alone was perfect! For my second side I chose a baked potato "all the way" that was fluffy and light and not dried out as so often happens with baked potatoes. My server greeted me and took my drink order less than a minute after I sat down. Steak night is very popular, and there was a table of eight that had arrived just before me. Thankfully my server took my order first as she knew the other table would have a much bigger order. I didn't have to very long for the steak and my server came back to check on me more than a few times. The ambience was classic Texas home town diner, with waitresses who greeted you with a smile and neighbors saying howdy when they caught your eye. There's plenty of seating for groups, but this steak night is very popular so there may be a wait if you come on a Thursday or Friday night. I had a slice of their homemade buttermilk pecan pie for dessert, and it was great! Not too sweet and a crunchy pecan topping that I'll be sure to order again next time I come in for dinner.

Reyna's in Hungerford, Texas is a solid place to get a good meal. Just a short drive from Wharton, Texas and well worth it. Located across from the Cotton Gyn, you'll find anything you want to eat. I went with the waitress's suggestion, which was the hamburger steak, fried okra, green beans and a hot roll. I had a fresh garden salad that was very good too. My meal was excellent and exactly what I wanted. Reyna's is also know for their pies, so why not try a slice? I did, but they were sold out ! I'll try again next time. When in Hungerford, Texas give Reyna's a try. Go get Full

Worth the stray off of the high way! Tastes as good as it looks. This small town, family owned restaurant never fails. Love their daily lunch specials, sweet tea, steak nights, fresh baked pastries & so much more.

Every time I've eaten here, it's been good ! It gives you that old time country cafe feel! The staff is super welcoming. The food is always tasty and hot. This is a Wharton County staple!!

This has become our Thursday dinner to go spot. Ribeyes are always cooked well. The sides are good and fresh. Desserts are always delicious. We got us a chocolate pie to share today.

It doesn't get much simpler than this. When you only have one restaurant in town, it has to cover the basics: Mexican, American, and BBQ.

At 730p on a Monday night, no parking available. I guess that's a testament to either their being the only game in town, or that they're that good. This is just your basic diner in tiny little Hungerford. The only restaurant in town. If you want something other than what they have here, the "big city" of Wharton is just a couple miles away. Don't expect lavish digs. Just basic tables with modestly cushioned chairs. Seating may be tight if you're with a large party. I was with a large dinner party (30-ish) after a visitation. We descended on the restaurant 30 minutes before they closed, and stayed an hour after they closed. Service was effective, but it did take a long time to get food to a large group so close to closing. Kudos to the restaurant for not telling us to get lost. There aren't many healthy options on this menu. It's a blend of American comfort food, Mexican, and--on Saturday--BBQ. I went with the beef fajitas as the healthiest thing I could find on the menu that contained protein. For beverage, I went with iced tea. Note to readers: No alcohol or beer-and-wine license, so if you want adult beverages, BYOB applies. I have to say I was disappointed in my food. The fajitas were listed as coming with grilled onions, green bell peppers, pico de gallo, and guacamole, The waitress said they were out of guacamole, which I really counted on getting. No explanation was offered for the missing bell peppers and pico. Worst of all, my fajitas were overcooked and a bit tough as if they weren't marinated long enough. It was a worse than expected fajita experience. No one went away hungry, so it just must've been my meal that suffered. Judging from the reviews and my co-diners' satisfaction, it seems like the American offerings are actually the way to go here, despite the namesake. From a value perspective, dinner for 4 friends with 20% tip tabbed out to just shy of $60. Nothing really fancy for the rest, just burgers, tacos, and nachos. Also, remember, no alcohol on the tab, just iced tea. So there's nothing small town about their prices, and the quality isn't overwhelming. My recommendation? Keep driving. P.S. They are open Mondays, no matter what Google tells you.

Small town look and feel. Trucks fill the parking spaces all around. Good!

Great food/portions. Would definitely go again. Wait was a little long, being the first one's there, but well worth it.

I was disappointed in the Ruben sandwich. Mind you, it was served warm as most are, but after eating Reubens from delis with lots of meat, from the photos you can see that my Reuben from here had a skimpy serving of meat. Additionally, I thought that the menu had it at one price and the register rung it up as $1.00 higher. I found that it is a dollar more for a salad. It comes standard with chips. That's reasonable to me and I thought that the salad was good. My spouse had the burger, and she enjoyed it. She liked that it came with a choice of fries or a healthy salad. I was pleased that a Zero Coke was only $2.00. That's extremely reasonable!

Looking forward to trying Tillie's again next time we pass thru. The cafe is well maintained and the food was decent. We also loved the ambiance - very relaxing. The service was very bad. The servers acted as though serving us was a massive inconvenience from the moment we walked in. Our questions were met with eye rolls and borderline rude answers that made us feel unwelcome.
