It's unfortunate to see some negative reviews on here, but of the two visits to Dental Care Basking Ridge I've had, they've both been good experiences. I initially went in for a cleaning which went well and the staff was very friendly (no surprises here, I need to floss more). I also took X-Rays since I was a new patient and Dr. Rudin spent extra time walking me through some of the past work he could see that I had done, and more importantly, pointed out some areas of concern. I did have a cavity which I got taken care of during my second visit. Overall great experience and going back in the future! read more

The blond girl in glasses at the front desk is so rude. Ive made an appointment for filling and called last friday to check if any appointments available for the weekend and was told "none" and also asked if i still want to keep my Mondays appointment. I said "yes, keep the appointment" but if something opens up for the weekend to give me a call. Weekend passed by , no one called and i went to my scheduled Monday night appointment to find out that it was cancelled because per this lady in glasses she spoke to me and i said to cancel the appointment (she was telling me that with an attitude when i was standing in their office lobby for my 7 pm appointment). She said they will gladly see me and what was i there for? I answered "fillings" and she gave me an attitude again and rolled her eyes saying that the lady who made an appointment marked deep cleaning instead of filling and implied that its my fault that one made incorrect note for the appointment and another cancelled appointment. After all these attitude comments from this lady i walked away. Always trust your gut. I regret i even went to this office again because 1st bad sign was when my boyfriend got implants done on front teeth with them and year later one tooth fell off and he had to go to another doctor in this clinic that they will screw the tooth back in (the doctor who did bad job is not there anymore), next bad sign was when i went there for only tooth cleaning and was charged extra because of their fancy machine X-rays (no one even told me upfront its going to be extra and i never pay extra for just the cleaning procedure). Then they told me i only need deep cleaning and 1 crown. I said i wont do deep cleaning after my cleaning (their up-sale technique). Amazingly but just less than 3-4 months ago i was there for all the work and was told all good with my teeth and now i have no filling in one of them. i never return there again because of this rude lady who also gossips about her colleagues behind their backs in-front of the customers. Today was enough of her terrible customer service and treating the customer so poorly. Highly NOT recommend this place to anyone. read more

They just called me today Thursday to let me know that they are cancelling my appointment scheduled for next Tue and that they are available to see me in 3 weeks. This is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. I went after work on my way home, my teeth are perfect, yet it took 90 MINUTES. Weirdest dental experience of my life. I went in for basic cleaning. First, I had a lengthy conversation about how I feel about my teeth with a consultant where they said I had to get x-rays even though I had them 6 months ago elsewhere. Fine. They ask about my hobbies. Uhhhhh, seriously, can we get on with this? I've worked a whole day. Finally I get to the treatment room and it is barely large enough for the chair. I was sitting in a walk-in closet for over an hour. I almost got up and left after the cleaning while I was waiting for the doctor because I just wanted out of there. I have had regular cleanings my entire life and have no cavities. Was told I had a cavity and needed two fillings. After the exam the dentist asked, "Is there anything that would stop you from going forward with this treatment?" Seemed....odd. He was trying too hard to convince me. He didn't point out what exactly he saw on the x-ray that was the cavity. I got a second opinion and there is no cavity. I have a small crack in a filling (that I had for cosmetic reasons) that he was claiming was a cavity!?!? Needless to say I will not be returning. read more

The best experience at the dentist I have ever had. I had to get two cavities filled and I was nervous. They immediately made me feel comfortable and had it done in less than an hour. I even got to watch t.v. while they were filling the cavities. I've never had a better dentist. Would 100% recommend! read more

Went to this office as a new patient after being with my previous dentist for many years. I have to say, I was very impressed from the moment I walked in the door! The office was very clean and the receptionist greeted me right away. From there it only got better. My hygienist was very thorough with her cleaning and I thought it was so great that they took new x-rays since the ones I brought with me from my old dentist were not too good being that they were printed out and very small. I also loved all the photos they took of my teeth. When Dr Rudin came in for my exam, he took the time to answer my questions and show me everything from the pictures that were taken. Thankfully NO CAVITIES! I would recommend this office to anyone and everyone if your looking for a fantastic experience!!!! read more

I find it very difficult to believe that all of the reviews on Google are so glowing . All 4 and 5 stars leading me to believe that some of the reviews are fake . I will say that everyone in the office 'appears' to be very nice . However prior to seeing them I had minimal dental issues and am very diligent about getting my checkups every 6 months . I went here for a cleaning and checkup and figured this place was close to work so I could get in and out during lunch . I was in there for at least 2 hours , getting many X-rays which didn't seem necessary . I was then told I needed 6 fillings and a crown and was told to meet with the finance manager to go over the 'treatment plan '. They wanted me to sign off on it and I didn't and so they wouldn't provide me with a copy of the work they were suggesting. I then requested a copy of my records to take with me to my prior dentist who had treated me for several years and my dentist told me I didn't need ANY of the suggested work and that my teeth were just fine !! Stay away from this dentist unless you want to walk out with a very expensive plan . Even if your teeth were perfect you aren't walking out of there without a treatment plan ! read more

Practice is great, all around. I drive from Manhattan because they do a wonderful job and have the latest technology.

My experience was totally quick and painless. I went in for my first cleaning in a few years, bad I know. During the exam they found a cavity that needed to be filled and 2 others that they said didn't. They actually talked me out of getting them filled because they said it would be over treatment. They were able to do the filling on the spot and the whole process took less than 2 hours with X-rays and paperwork. I will definitely be back for my next cleaning! read more

Worst teeth cleaning I every had. Took two set of xrays which I felt was not necessary. All of the staff is very young and not very experienced in the dental field. Dentist wrote out a preventive plan which I didn't agree with felt the dentist was trying to pad the bill for extra money. Overall not a great experience would not recommend read more

Absolute worst worst dental office experience, especially dr Rudin. Avoid it at all costs. There are plenty of other better dentists close by. I agree with other reviewers on yelp. The dentist offers $50 credit to patients who write a positive review on google+, so would be careful with those. read more

If you have teeth, you should already be making an appointment with Dental Care Basking Ridge! From start to finish, this was by far the best dental experience I've ever had. Booking an online appointment was incredibly easy and they even called me when earlier availabilities opened up. Within the first 10 seconds of being in the office, it was so refreshing to see how friendly and professional everyone was. Maura at the front desk is an absolute gem - wonderfully helpful, genuine, and attentive to detail. I booked my appointment with Girishma, who is so informative and knowledgeable! She walked me through everything and made the experience quite relaxing. I also had part of my appointment with Dr. Stess, who made the process enjoyable while being transparent and making sure I was informed of the next steps that needed to be taken. Had a great experience at this office. Staff warm, friendly and on schedule. Great experience from the top down. Dr. Rudin explained everything in depth showing me the X-rays and photos where I had pain in my tooth and needed a very old filling replaced. Had it replaced that day and being very nervous, he was so gentle with a light hand and now I'm pain free!! The whole supporting staff was very polite and friendly. Probably the worst experience I've ever had. Really just felt like a money grab. I went in for a cleaning and 45 minutes later, my teeth still weren't cleaned and I had had about 3 sets of x-rays and pictures taken. After all that, I was told I had SEVEN cavities (when I've never had 1 in my entire life) and needed a "deep cleaning." My experience is the exact opposite of Laura G's experience... If you are looking for a new dental office, Dental Care Basking Ridge should be near the top of your list. Don't be put off by the fact it is in a small mall. The quality of care is excellent and the friendly enthusiasm refreshing. I have been in the office 5 times since my first visit in July, which was a visit seeking a second opinion after my prior dentist misdiagnosed my problem. It will now be my permanent provider as long as the conditions I describe below continue to be "routine". There are five areas that have really impressed me: 1. I don't have dental insurance so I find it refreshing to have a price list of routine services. I care what I am going to be charged and always resent the vagueness of most offices to discuss prices clearly upfront. Here you have a price list and can take a copy with you. 2. As a new patient, without insurance, you will be given a full through examination, complete panoramic and bitewings X-Rays, and if it is an emergency the necessary immediate temporary treatment/advice to deal with the problem (in my case a prescription for antibiotics for a badly infected tooth). Cost $1. My prior dentist charged me $150 to misdiagnose my problem and $35 for a single tooth X-Ray. 3. The office hours are 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday to Saturday. The office is staffed by two teams which work alternating shifts each day. So you can always see someone. If it is not your "regular" team you can see the other one, depending on your schedule, and all your records are there. I called at 7:30 AM and was able to see the dentist at 9:30 AM. The teams work together, not as separate offices. 4. Having your own insurance is great, but many of us do not. The Dental Care you can buy an in in house plan which is attractive. The annual cost is less than the cost of two cleanings annually (from other providers) which are free under the Dental Care plan. In addition there are other free services which one often pays for in a traditional dentist office. So you can't lose really if you have your teeth cleaned twice a year. Also if you have the insurance plan you get a discounted price off the regular fee for services (both of which are written out on the pricing plan). And by the way the regular fees have not been inflated to give you a discount. They are right in line with, or perhaps somewhat lower, that fees I have paid for similar work at my prior dentist/periodontist/oral surgeon. 5. This office is part of a 5 office group in Somerset County NJ. This office focuses on general dentistry, but has access within the group to specialists you might need, e.g. an oral surgeon, or a periodontist. Therefore you do not always need to find a specialist to do work other than general dentistry. In my case I did use an outside specialist (recommended by Dental Care) for some of my care, and found that office to be as friendly and reasonable as the Basking Ridge office. If this review sounds too good to be true, it is not. Try them. You will be impressed. The only potential negative is both teams are staffed by younger dentists, dental assistants, hygienists and administrative staff. This may mean turnover occurs at a higher rate than your traditional dentist office. But even that may be a benefit. You are dealing with people who are using the latest techniques and enthusiastically pursuing their careers. They care and it shows... Bill M read more

Dr. Hertz & the staff at Dental Care Basking Ridge did an amazing job managing my dental work. Over the course of multiple visits I had the pleasure of getting to know the staff well. Melissa is so helpful at the front desk, scheduling appointment times that work for you. After my initial appointment with Dr. Hertz, I couldn't believe how antiquated my old Dentist's office was! Melissa did an amazing job of cleaning my teeth. Maura then laid out a very comprehensive treatment plan I felt comfortable with. Dr. Hertz, with the help of his assistants Bridget & Myra, made what is normally a stressful experience, comfortable & stress free. Couldn't recommend Dr. Hertz and the staff at Dental Care Basking Ridge more highly! read more
