When a friend asked about my dentist in Florida, I didn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Cismarescu. Candidly, when he advised me to replace a crown that wasn't all that old, I was dubious. But he was right. The crown in question was bulky and apparently left something of a gap. The crown Dr. C installed fit so much better! I wasn't thrilled with the first hygienist I was paired with at Midpoint. (She was proficient, though not friendly.) But then ..... I lucked out with Tucker Gross. He's a great hygienist and so personable. I actually looked forward to my cleanings! Unlike other reviewers, I found the office staff transparent about billing. Estimates were always accurate in accordance with my dental insurance. There's very little that I miss about living in Florida. But I was sorry to leave this practice when I moved out of state. read more

I had an appointment for a cleaning. I told them that's all I wanted. They claimed I needed a rays ( only way they would clean my teeth ) a lady told me they could get by with a panoramic xray. Next thing you know I was told in chair they didn't say that they needed 4 others. I ended up with 8 I believe. Next I had a guy do something partial cleaning and he switched to another customer. While waiting someone came in and put a instrument in my mouth for scanning if I wanted braces. I said I'm almost 60 not getting braces. That didn't matter to them they kept going. The dentist came in then and gave me a list of things he wanted fixed. I had hardly any trust at this point. Asked for my deep cleaning. The hygienist came in and did a half job. All I wanted was a cleaning and my teeth dont feel clean. I was also told I don't have good insurance coverage. My wife told me we have a upgraded package. I never paid so much for a cleaning in my life. I was told my insurance wouldn't cover a crown. My wife told me she has had 2 crowns that insurance paid majority. I decided to stop going to this dental office after three years due to a significant issue with coverage communication. When I spoke with the office staff, I was assured that my dental insurance was still accepted. Here's what happened: They provided me with an estimated quote for a procedure on 11 teeth, had me sign an agreement to proceed, but failed to inform me that the treatment was not covered by my insurance. The procedure was presented as preventative care to protect my teeth from cavities, which it does, but they did not make it clear that it wasn't covered by my insurance. I trusted that they had confirmed coverage with my provider, but three weeks later, I received a $1,200 bill. When I contacted my insurance company, I learned that the office had not verified coverage, leaving me to either pay the bill or work with the office. Unfortunately, the office refused to help, pointing to the contract I signed, which I had done in good faith, trusting they were transparent about the coverage. So I got my appointment by calling Chiquita dental through a referral. I was told that I was going to have a cleaning for about $49 and I was asked all the questions for the appointment. I answered everything honestly I get into the building for the appointment today at 2pm. my first clue something was wrong was when they asked if I had insurance when I specifically told the receptionist who made the appointment, I did not have any insurance and that I was supposed to be scheduled for a cleaning and x-ray per the $49 they proceed to tell me they have no such promotion and that they can't do a cleaning on me without x-rays and having them emailed from my old dentist in Virginia would not work and that x-rays take an hour and a half. I have never been to a dental office where x-rays take more than 20 minutes then when I asked, can you squeeze me in for a cleaning since I'm already here they said that the dental hygienist only has an hour and nothing can be done since they have to have the x-rays first so not only did Chiquita and midpoint dental who are supposed sister dental offices and the excuse I got from them was offices schedule differently, and we can't see each other schedule, but our administrative is the same except if that's the case why was I able to call Chiquita dental and the lady from their scheduled, the appointment at midpoint, not only did both dental offices false advertise the prices. Neither one of them were willing to help me out and on top of it all they were telling me that there was no time to squeeze me in because of the need for x-rays. read more

This place is horrible. Avoid at all costs. They will recommend the world, provide a "menu" post consultation that provides services that are not needed. Had my son in a chair for FOUR hours. They refuse to do simple procedures such as a cleaning so they can upsell a "deep cleaning" stating it is not safe to do a regular one. My son was in lain, they blame him for his discomfort after FOUR hours in a chair with no pain relief. Dr was unprofessional and inappropriate. This is a "chain" . Profit over care. I was shocked at the fees they charge for their services. It made me wonder if this was not some insurance scam. I have been treated for many of the procedures they recommended (deep cleanings, extractions, antibiotics, etc) in NYC (Manhattan) and in Los Angeles, blocks from Beverly Hills, and paid half to a third of what these people charge. It seemed like a "pile on" of fees to boost the bill. The median income in Cape Coral, FL, is $36K, way below the national average, so I have no idea how they justify their fees and who pays them. The first time that I went there the Hispanic assistant was nice but things went downhill from there. The new assistant they got had a very un-american attitude and was acting like some kind of pushy security guard - my husband couldn't be with me and when I was done I had to wait a while because he had to call to the checkout to make sure everything was 'clear'. Not at all surprised that these guys are still looking for patients. My wife and I decided that we will never go there again. Be forewarned: Their office gave me an estimate for several dental procedures, and assured me that for one procedure the cost would only be zero dollars. This seemed to good to be true so I verified at least two times on different days with other members of their staff. Yes they said it was true, so I went ahead with this particular procedure which in the aftermath of hurrricane IAN seemed like a good idea since everyone was short of money repairing their house A few weeks later I get a bill for $640 which about a week later miraculously turned into a follow-up bill of well over $900. So they went from zero estimated cost to close to a thousand dollars in a couple of weeks. Talk about SURPRISE billing! If any of you are going through a Medicare advantage plan, please be aware that you are protected from this kind of practice! The office staff doesn't have a clue what they are doing. Other than that we should also mention that the dental assistent pretty much gave both of us the creeps and my wife wasn't allowed to sit with me in the same room. We are so glad that we found another down-to-earth and no-nonsense dentist in the area where we don't have to worry about any funny stuff. read more

Do not go to DENTAL CARE AT MIDPOINT!! This is corporate dentistry at its worst . Both dentists are bad. I know many crowns and dental work was rejected by insurance since they didn't do a prior auth. The Lady dentist is terrible. This information came from her own assistants!! The other dentist is pushing high cost procedure because it's all about the $$$$$$. The manager never seems to bath and always had a terrible odor. Why would they let her keep working like that? Where to begin...first let me say that the care given was good; with the technician that did my molds and installation of my bridge, the dental hygienist Tucker, and Dr. Cismarescu. The biggest problem was billing and it was a royal mess. In my 54 years as an adult I have had too many doctor visits to count, many dental visits including dental surgery, and 6 hospital surgeries. With all of this history I can say that I had zero billing problems...until I went to Midpoint Dental. I was given 2 "Treatment Cases" outlining the course of treatment. The first plan involved 3 visits (cleaning and such) and all was okay with billing, very straightforward. The second treatment case also involved 3 visits and was quite involved (it included a bridge), the first 2 visits went fine then came the third treatment with the actual bridge work. They had shown the estimate I would need to pay (their explanation on how they determined this with my insurance coverage was very vague) and this came to $1602. After the treatment my portion went up to $2328 which I had paid as I did not have the treatment case info with me (this was March 6th). I later called about this (March 18 &19) and was told that the person I need to talk to is out of the office. I went to the office on March 28th and finally learned that they are waiting for the insurance to pay (or not) which they said usually takes 2-3 months. I had already received some insurance information which told me that the insurance had finished so I went back to the office on April 17th and was told that the reason I paid over $700 more for the bridge work was that this extra amount was not covered, in fact I had a $21 credit. Imagine my surprise when on October 1st I received an email with a statement showing that I still owed $1231. I called the office was was told to contact my insurance company who then told me they will need a final itemized statement to research this. Over the past 2 weeks I called their billing department several times (no one answered), left 2 messages and no call back. I went back into the paperwork I had and spent several hours working up possibilities for the amount owed and it appears like it may be valid, enough so I will pay these guys but what has become abundantly clear to me is that my payment portion of the original bridge treatment case was grossly underestimated, in essence I had been low-balled. If I knew I would have had to pay $3559 instead of $1602 I would have gotten a second or even a third opinion or better yet go to Mexico or China for a new bridge. I will be needing more work done but it will NOT be with this office. read more

This is a new dental practice that comes with all the "left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" issus. The bigger issue is lack of professionalism and customer service. Rather than admit fault on their part, the approach is to blame the customer/patient. This rude behavior is evident from the top (dentist) down. I have tried for six months to get my refund. I paid Midpoint and so did my Insurance Company. I have to say they are dishonest and Bookkeepers are not complying. They have no excuse on why it us 6 months and still did not receive a check for 250.00. I have gotten in touch with consumer affairs. I will go to small claims shortly to file claim. I made an appointment I had a tooth that needed to be pulled and I was in pain, I gave them all my information and my insurance information three days in advance. I showed up for the appointment they took x-rays, they sat me in a chair and they were about to pull the tooth And a woman came in and said I don't have insurance. They got me out of the chair took my bib off and walk me out the door all the while I'm in pain. They told me to find another dentist that take somebody without insurance. I went home I called Florida blue they sent all the information to the dentist office. They give me another appointment . They take me in I get my tooth extracted they charge me $700 out-of-pocket and Max my insurance, charge me for a cleaning I didn't get. They said they did a bone graft and stitched up where the tooth was, the stitching came out within 12 hours and if there was a bone graft that came out too ,I told them about it and they said don't worry about it. My mouth has been in pain now for over a month and a half and I get another bill for more money that they said the insurance wouldn't pay. They also made me an appointment to get a half a cleaning because that's all the insurance would pay and he wanted me to pay out-of-pocket The other half because they maxed my Insurance. I told them I'm finished I'll give them the last bit of money they're asking for which is outrageous I've had a dentist my whole life and I've had a couple of back teeth extracted and it never cost that much money out of pocket with fantastic insurance. I am so done with this dental office. Who ever is doing thier billing needs a lot of help. My first appointment they gave me an estimate that every single amount for the service was wrong. They also told me that the deep cleaning was not covered by my my insurance so I would have to pay that day for that which I did. They then billed my insurance and they were paid by them too. I have filed a claim againt them with Delta dental for getting paid twice for one procedure. I've called this office at least four different times trying to get this straightened out. The last time I called I spoke to the office manager who said it was not their fault but was delta dentals fault. Not true. When they filed the pre authorization they left off key information including the license number of the doctor. Delta dental called and the office and was told they were too busy to talk to them. Dental at midpoint never has returned the call to Delta dental Take my advice and don't put yourself through the stess of dealing with incompetent insurance billers at this office. read more

I went in for a routine cleaning, and to get some x-rays. The front desk was very polite and courteous, the first girl who did my x-rays was incredibly sweet and amazing. Then my hygienist comes in (I cannot remember her name but she had brown hair). The moment she saw my x-rays she fixated on a certain tooth where a filling had fallen out (from a previous dentist who hadn't done a good job). She never asked if I wanted to take care of the filling, but assumed that I'd be doing it. I told her that I wouldn't do it that day as it was expensive and I wanted to better budget for it (I do not have dental insurance). After this, she started talking down to me in a very condescending manner about the missing filling. She either ignored me or didn't hear me, and went ahead and told the main dentist that I was going to be getting two fillings. She repeatedly made comments that I found to be inappropriate and just rude; comments about my job and how it wasn't a good one, about how my parents aren't helping me out, about how I never got braces, she said "you're 21 you probably have a terrible credit score". After I told her I wouldn't be doing the filling, she ignored me and started asking the main dentist to prepare to do my fillings, she had the woman from the front desk print out my estimated price for the day. I had to repeatedly tell her that I wasn't going to do it. It felt very forced and rude. Even after I told the woman from the front desk that I wouldn't be doing it, she continued to hound me about the filling and how irresponsible it was not to get it. When I asked her if I could just continue on with my cleaning, her attitude turned very sour. Every time she missed my teeth with the pick, and hit my gums, she would blame it on my poor flossing (the dentist specifically told me that my gums were very healthy and did not say anything bad about my flossing). It was a humiliating and frustrating experience, and I'm sad to say I will not be returning. If I do, I will specifically request a different hygienist. No one should be treated in such a belittling manner, just because they can't afford certain things. read more
