One filling turned into the most painful, drawn-out dental procedure I've ever had--and it wasn't even a complex one. I also raised concerns about teeth grinding and shifting, and was completely dismissed without any real discussion. I left that appointment feeling brushed off and unheard. Scheduling was another major issue. They couldn't accommodate a standard six-month cleaning schedule, booked me eight months out, and when I asked to be put on a cancellation list, they never followed up. Then they canceled on me two days before my appointment. At that point, I gave up. It's clear there are some kind and well-meaning people on staff, but my experience with the dentist and overall care was disappointing and, frankly, frustrating. I'm moving on to a new provider.

In one of the routine visits, I told her about a pimple or lump on the gum above a tooth, I showed her that that part was painful. Her response was, we can check it later, for now we are going to offer you the exchange of a crown for another tooth (which did not hurt and was still fine) for the price of $4000. Completely ignoring my state of health. I recently visited another local dentist and just by taking the x-rays, he identified the problem, he immediately informed me of what to do, the problem that caused it and the treatment he would use as well as the payment facilities. We have already started treatment, which makes me feel safe and calm, because this doctor shows interest in my health. Not in selling me a product.

I was very scared and anxious about the work I needed done on my teeth, but those fears were quickly alleviated by the level of care I received. I was also explained in-depth the cost and offered a couple of different payment options before my treatment, which was very helpful. The clean, modern office was very impressive. Dr. Gupta's aptitude for painless anesthesiology and his quick, precise work made a procedure which I feared for years extremely easy to get through. He also took photos of the before/after work, which was personally very interesting to see. They had me go in for an "emergency" that was not even an emergency, and waited until I was already finished with the appointment to tell me that taking a piece of food out of my tooth would count as my visit- leaving out the fact that I was scheduled for a regular checkup the following week. This is not the first time situations like this have happened and the woman who is the office manager has been extremely rude while smirking over these issues. After 5 years at a dentist office I really loved, I feel taken advantage of and screwed out of my regular checkup. Would not recommend this office. I want to be clear - The dental hygienist staff are amazing - they are not part of this bad review. The staff in the Gentle Dental office is honest and caring. Having an honest trusting relationship is the most important factor when it comes to choosing the right dentist. I have gone through several new dentists in the area since I moved, but no dentist has been able to fulfill the same standards as Dr. Pezeshki for me. I've been going here for years, and I've referred multiple friends. I would give them my firstborn, but they're probably happiest when I pay my bill on time. The care is top-notch and everybody who works here is gracious, friendly and kind. Chris is a wonderful hygienist, John Tieu is a wonderful dentist, and Joseph O'Reilly is a master at distracting patients with an odd cheek-jiggling motion and/or spicy conversation while he's doing something vile with syringes to your gums. Pondside is why, in my online dating profile, I list my amazing set of chompers as one of my key physical attributes. 9/16/16 Update: In February, Dr. O'Reilly wrote me the sweetest letter, informing me that he was retiring. It made me sad. I didn't know how to respond. What do you give to your retiring dentist, who made you just a pinch less anxious about going to the dentist, a pinch of happiness and jokes when you did, and a pinch less distrustful of any type of doctor at all, and over the course of decades, as you aged, was one of the doctors who made you trust the medical profession in a way you don't when you're a scared diabetic kid who gets jabbed too much? I made the appointment, was made to wait for 2 hours because Dr. Recinos decided not to show up that morning; he finally looked at my teeth for about 2 seconds before telling me I needed a filling redone. I was then ushered out without a cleaning, and was told that I would have to make another appointment to get the cleaning done (I am assuming to get larger reimbursement from my insurance). I suspected incompetence, so I saw another dentist who told me I had no problems . . . it's actually been about 4 years since this happened, I've been seen by at least 3 other dentists none of whom have identified any problems, and my filling is still in and I have no new cavities. So, basically Dr. Recinos will tell you anything to drum up business.
