All 3 of my appointments over the last 2 years have been rescheduled by them at the last minute, so they don't seem very organized. Also, be wary of any additional products or services they try to sell you. They once recommended a night guard for me, which I naively agreed to without doing my own research. Getting the night guard through them cost me $600 out of pocket, and I later learned that you can buy night guards at CVS for $30. read more

Doesn't have the patient's best interest in mind. I'm in need of a total hip replacement. My hospital required a dental exam for any mouth infections. I called Gentle Dental and explained my needs. They told me it was no problem. I saw a dentist on a Saturday. I explained that my hospital needed a signed piece of paper saying that I had no infection and that I had an upcoming appointment on Wednesday to schedule the surgery. I explained that because of Covid, there is a backlog for surgical appointments and it was very important that I get a clearance. I paid for an examination and x-rays. I had no infection. I asked for the paper and he told me to come in Monday for a cleaning and then he would give me the paperwork. I asked for it then and there but he refused and said Monday. I came back for the cleaning but when I found out it was going to cost me $360.00 for just my bottom teeth, I told them I couldn't afford that price. I then asked for the paper. The person at the desk told me that the dentist was not there and that I could get it the next day (Tuesday). Tuesday my wife called and they told her Friday. My appointment to schedule the surgery was the next day, Wednesday. Well, I went to my hip appointment and they told me that they could not schedule my surgery without the paperwork. They had me tentatively scheduled for May 25. I went to a more responsible dentist who obliged me without issue. I faxed it to the hospital but because I was a week late, my surgery date was put off until June 24. I don't even know the dentist's name. It is not listed anywhere on the receipt or treatment plan. Their website has their dentists listed along with their picture. My supposed dentist is not listed on their site. I wasted my time and money and had to delay my hip surgery for another month. I have no respect for their callousness and disregard for fulfilling such a simple request. Why Gentle Dental, why wouldn't you complete my simple request? I suggest anyone ought to think twice before going to Gentle Dental. read more

I had a great experience at this practice. I came in for a cleaning/checkup and was referred to a consult with their oral surgeon (Dr. Lakkis) who recommended getting my wisdom teeth out. Wisdom teeth are kind of a cash cow for a lot of practices so I expected them to immediately suggest getting all of them out. Instead, he was very upfront: only two really need to come out and we can leave the others in. Pricing (out of pocket) was very fair and cheaper than most other places. The extraction itself took less than an hour under local anesthesia. Dr. Lakkis explained everything including all risks to me very carefully, and gave me straightforward instructions for taking care afterwards. After I ended up with a dry socket, the practice got me in first thing in the morning, and a dentist cleaned it out quickly. Note, the surgery consult was free and so was the dry socket treatment! Despite some of my initial reservations, this was a fantastic experience. Highly recommend them. read more

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GO TO GENTLE DENTAL!!!! They are by far worst dental office ever! I had been going to this location for years and was really satisfied with my dentist. It appears that this office changes dentists like people change their underwear. They work with you too understand the billing process of the dental insurance and they help with suggestion on how to handle any financial barriers. This place is horrible. Do not go. I stayed way too long (5 years) not understanding just how horrible they are. My first dentist there advised that I have eight teeth filled. so I did because, why wouldn't I trust him? He's a doctor. Over the next few years, He left and I had normal visits with a new dentist. She was very sweet and appeared competent and I mostly just had cleanings. I went back about a month ago to a new dentist (again! Bc turnover is high) and he said I needed eight fillings again! He also gave me a lecture on how to eat healthy and what things have sugar in them. Maybe he thought I was a moron. Turns out, Eight fillings is crazy. I went to Dr. Spagnuolo in roslindale on the recommendation of a friend. Gentle dental sent over someone else's x-rays (a person with many missing teeth by the way). The folks at my new dentist said that EVERY WEEK someone comes over from gentle dental to get a second opinion and they find they need WAY LESS work then was recommended at gentle dental. Do NOT go to gentle dental. The dentists are neither competent nor kind. Oh! And I had an x-ray at gentle dental while pregnant and they said it was fine. Turns out, thats some pretty controversial stuff. Don't go there. And!! One of the doctors asked me to write him a review on yelp for a discount. I am one of the worst pt you can imagine. Afraid of the dentist 1000% the noise the smell but I needed some work done because I kept getting infections. My friend told me about Dr. Mancini she said he was funny and he does not judge people about their teeth issues. I made it there was scared as hell ( only people who are scared of dentist will understand me ) after consultations I got something done. If I could give this place a zero I would. The staff is so busy reminding you of appointments, that they don't take the time to tell you if you have a bill until months later. I had two crowns the staff bullied me into getting even though they weren't really necessary to have. They even told me that my insurance covered a certain amount and made me pay a co-payment and said nothing else to me about it for greater than 6 -8 months after going back and forth to their office for many other appointments. Also if you need an Invisalign treatment, don't even think about getting it here. The staff for that service is only in the office once per week and they're so jam-packed with appointments, they ready to push you out the door the moment you come in. The staff also acts as if that dept isn't even connected to their office and keeps every other service so separate, that neither the office staff or dental staff know what's going on with each other. I will never pay to have any kind of services at this place again and plan on getting out of "confusion dental" by the end of the year. read more

Imagine if you will a period of time, oh let's say...about 8 years from the last time that I sought the sage advice of dental professionals (YES I know how stupid that was.). Imagine also if you will that my mouth is a bit of a dramatist. My mouth knows this though, manipulative little son of a gun. Seeing as I am a massive hypochondriac any little twinge in my teeth will send me straight to WebMD to find a self diagnosis that will lead me to either A. see a pro or B. self medicate until I REALLY need to see a pro. Mouth, you win again. This time, I ended up going to Gentle Dental because, well, my wife made me. She knows that the last time I went to the dentist it was a 3 hour session of oral surgery hell and she can testify that it literally gave me nightmares. She hooked me up with her dentist, Dr. Pezeshki and he nearly immediately calmed me down. Yeah, I was in a state of neglect but certainly recoverable without too much work - I would need to come in several times but it wouldn't be that bad. I could go on a tangent about why I don't like Novocaine and why I hate dental insurance coverage plans and why I hate rinsing after being numbed up and why more than anything I hate being asked if I would like a magazine, but I won't. No, this little office as humble as it is has done a fine job of convincing me to NOT let my teeth scare the living daylights out of me. read more

My experience here was terrible and I certainly will never return. Since I started working and obtained new health insurnace, I had to make a Saturday appointment to accomodate my busy schedule. When I went in for my appointment, the unfriendly receptionist told me that I would have to pay full price for my cleaning and submit a claim to my insurnace for reimbursement, since it was Saturday and she was unable to verify my insurnace information. I guess the phone and internet don't work on Saturdays, go figure. No one told me this before my appointment, even though I mentioned having new insurnace when I made the appointment. Then, to make matters worse, I would have to make a SEPARATE appointment to see the doctor. Who has time for this? Certainly not me. So, I left with the intention of switching to another dentist (one that I could go to ONCE and see both the doctor AND the hygenist on my lunch hour at work). The next problem was the Gentle Dental HOLDS YOUR XRAYS HOSTAGE. Yes. Thats right. I couldnt get them to send my x-rays to my new dentist unless I PAID them $25. Out of sheer principle, I refused to do this. Is this the way that you keep patients? By holding their medical records from them? My new dentist office even called Gentle Dental themselves and they still refused to send my xrays to them. As a result, I had to have new panoramic Xrays taken (which is not good for your health to have this done more often than neccessary). Gentle Dental can keep my xrays and records since I certainly will never return. read more

Feels kind of weird rating a dentist's office, but as medical care becomes more and more commercialized and competitive, I guess it's part of the logical progression. That being said, this was a great experience overall. From my first phone call to the friendly receptionist to set an appointment (for both me and my fiance, to which she kindly obliged) to my initial screening with the infamous Dr. Pezeshki (whom, I have to admit, I got unreasonably excited to meet having read the Yelp reviews prior to choosing GD!) to my gentle cleaning by the hygienist whose name I did not get (darn), I was completely and utterly satisfied. I didn't take advantage of the $57 dollar new patient offer, because I have dental insurance that covers my care 100%, but I can surely say I would have if my situation leant to that option. Although a little dated, the waiting room is of a decent size, equipped with an ample amount of chairs for the office volume as well as a Poland Spring bubbler to alleviate your pearly-prodding anxiety-induced dry mouth. The room is complete with daytime television on it's 13 inch TV, (The Doctors, Jerry! Jerry!, Morning Shows). For the more refined of us, easy listening tunes are charitably piped in by Magic 106.7. Both of these amenities in place to satisfy the wants of even the choosiest doctor's-office aficionados. The actual visit rooms are of average size and accommodations, with hooks to hang your coat and bag. The chairs were looking a little funky on my visits, which prompts the question of how often they replace those damn things. I'm sure they're expensive, so I need to stop being skeevy. The dental care providers (which term I use as they were a combination of a receptionist, hygienist, DMD and whoever took my x-rays) who evaluated and treated me were extremely friendly, not overly talkative (it's kind of hard to answer generic questions about my my most recent vacation when you're poking my gums with that - ow! - sharp metal thing) and very knowledgeable. They relayed a true sense of caring, which many dentists (including the ones at HV Kenmore) do not. I got the feeling that Dr. P actually had time for me and was truly concerned about MY dental care, a notion that got me all warm and fuzzy inside. The hygienist was very gentle and informative; I didn't wince nearly as much as I did at the aforementioned HV office. Thank you GD for providing friendly, skillful and gentle dental care! read more

Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with this dental office. It seemed as though they didn't genuinely care about me as a patient, but only cared about making money. I had a dental plan they were somewhat unfamiliar with, and even after I brought in the dental coverage brochure and called my dental insurance MYSELF, they seemed to be bothered and acted as though they were unwilling to work with me or my insurance, although my insurance covered my procedures and I always paid my dues right away. I had to request on numerous occasions for a procedure to be done- which my insurance plan covered. Why would they give the patient the hassle? - Receptionist: was nice and was apologetic - Dr. P: not happy with him, impatient and arrogant - Office: outdated. Needs maintenance and charm. Time for me to update my review of a great dentist office. I've been here a few times now in their JP location, and I want to stress how great Dr. Pezeshki and the team are. My husband just went there fore the first time the other day and loved how good they were to him. He hadn't been to a dentist in five years, and the hygenist really made sure his teeth were clean! Of course, he's one of those lucky people whose teeth weren't genetically programmed to rot out of his mouth like mine were, so that's all he had to have done. For my own part, I'm just thrilled about how good my mouth looks every time I leave there, fillings and all. Dr. P continues to be both caring an excellent. Gentle Dental took good care of me, with kindly patience, attention to detail, and good workmanship. Dr. Mancini is my current dentist and Dr. Agarazi is the oral surgeon there. I did their "new patient" special, and it was very inexpensive. I needed to have a filling done in my wisdom tooth. They explained that depending on the amount of decay they may have to upgrade it to a crown. I showed up a few minutes late for my 5PM appointment assuming it would take over an hour and cost many hundreds of dollars. The dentist was faster and more efficient than any I've ever been to. I was out by 5:30PM and it only cost about $250. The dentist told me after the procedure that he was able to use a "less expensive filling" than he anticipated so it saved some money. In short, I'm really impressed by the efficiency of this place and pleasantly surprised with the cost. read more

My teeth are white! Went to Gentle Dental (hilarious name for a dental office) in JP to get the Zoom treatment after hearing about it from a friend of mine. They are having a sweet deal! I was pretty nervous because I'd heard from other people that it can be painful. When I called up and asked Q's the staff told me to use sensodine toothpaste for a week before the procedure and that they'd stop if it was painful. I think the sesodine made a huge difference because I didn't feel any pain until the very end of the procedure and it wasn't too bad. I'm not sure that a lot of offices would have taken the time to tell you this so I am extremely appreciative. (Thanks, GD!) In case you're nervous like I was, here's the deal: - The Dentist will check you teeth and make whitening tray molds so you can do home touch ups. - They will put stuff in your mouth to make sure the whitening stuff only gets on your teeth, not your gums. This takes a little while, but I prefer that because the Hygienist was super thorough. The peroxide is not super great for your gums. - They paint your teeth with whitening stuff. - They put a light up to your mouth for 15 minutes. - They suck the stuff off and put more white stuff on and then shine the light... - Repeat the paint to suction process up to 4 times (I only made it through 3 and a little bit.) - Rinse,go home and don't drink dark liquids or staining foods for 48 hours. The hygienist explained to me exactly what the pain would feel like when I should know to stop. This made a huge difference, because i knew to push the light away and call them to clean off my teeth. When this happened, the girl walking by my room stopped right away to help me clean my teeth off and get comfortable. This was amazing because she hadn't even been working with me! All in all, much less scary than I expected. :) read more

I have been going to this Gentle Dental office for the past 5 years. It is really hard now a days to find good dentists and I realized this even more when I had to search for a new dentist in Arizona. The staff in the Gentle Dental office is honest and caring. Having an honest trusting relationship is the most important factor when it comes to choosing the right dentist. I was referred by a friend to see Doctor Pezeshki while I was a student living in Boston. I have gone through several new dentists in the area since I moved, but no dentist has been able to fulfill the same standards as Dr. Pezeshki for me. He is an excellent dentist, and I would never question his treatment plans. Since he directs this office, I have no doubt that the dentists who work there have to fulfill the same standards of excellence in order to be hired. I have had experience with a few of them and they all have been just as great. I would recommend this Gentle Dental to any new patient looking to find a dentist for a lifetime. Trust me when i say you will be making the greatest choice in your life and in the health of your teeth. You will not want another dentist working on you after this and you will make your teeth happy :) read more

I have been going to Gentle Dental for a couple of years now and am never going back. At first they treat you very nicely, because of course they want your business. After a while, I started to notice how unprofessional the receptionist were. And when you brought an issue to their attention, they treated you badly. First of all, they have been over charging my insurance for work that are not being done to me. Second, I got my wisdom teeth pulled out during the summer time and the dentist chipped my other tooth which later broke causing me excruciating pain on my top right side. When I called the doctor to let him know that I needed to come in urgently, the receptionist indicated that I had a previous balance of $179.5 that needed to be paid before I saw the dentist. Are you kidding me??? Then she told me an estimate of what I needed to pay for my broken tooth. WTF??? This was their fault and now I had to pay them to fix it??? B.S. So I went to another dentist, because these ppl were not going to get any more of my money. So the other day I received a bill for $358.68 from Gentle Dental and when I saw that they were also billing me for my son's and father's work I called. I told them that my ex is responsible for our son;s and his own dental work. And since they have never been under my insurance, they needed to send him a bill for that work. My balance with Gentle Dental is only $79.50 but they are refusing to separate the accounts for unknown reasons to me. No matter how much I argued that there are two different insurance policies and two different responsible parties, they refused to separate the bills. Until this happens, they are not getting another penny from me nor my insurance. And I'll make sure to let all of my friends and family to never use this dental clinic again. read more

I'm writing an update to respond to Matthew S. of Gentle Dental's comments. Firstly, I appreciate that GD corporate is engaging with their yelp. However, I found this response unhelpful, condescending, and ultimately not addressing the problems I had. I agree, Dr. S, that a low-level cavity may need different levels of attention and that there may be different courses of action described. The unfortunate thing, in my situation, is that none of these "spots to keep an eye on" were ever brought to my attention. I believe the appropriate thing to do would be to engage me, as the patient, in a conversation. The line you wrote about "saving me time and expense" is, in a few words, total bull: I am fortunate enough to have excellent dental insurance & a well-paying job. I also am proactive in my healthcare choices and would choose to address something sooner rather than later, if the choice is available. I was not told there were problem spots, was not told that I should be worried/may be dealing with problems in the future, and believe that I was not given the attention I deserved as a patient. This feels very problematic to me. read more

I went to this dentist for the first time to have my wisdom teeth extracted. It was on a Saturday because I work during the week. The front desk as well as the dental assistants were unprofessional gossiping about patients. Maybe it was because it was Saturday. I've been there twice now, and I will not be going back. I'm going back to my regular dentist. The dentist was nice, however. I would suggest the office manager have an undercover patient come in and observe the staff. read more

Used to love going here to see Dr. Pezeshki. He was great, the best dentist I ever had. One day I went in a new doc took his place. He seemed nice enough, but I really felt uncomfortable after he suggested a visit with some sort of implant specialist for a tooth I had had a root canal and cap put on just 2 years ago. It worked fine. I simply indicated I had occassional pain like once every 3 months or so if I ate something sticky or chewed gum. I politely told him I really wasn't interested in the "free consult" because I was not going to consider an implant when the tooth I had was fine. I was pretty clear and wasn't passive about it. Despite what I said he insisted and then sort of forced me into created an appointment which I later canceled. Because of that I just never wanted to go back. I just felt like it was for money as opposed to because I really needed it for my health. Additionally I felt I wasn't listened to despite stating clearly that I didn't want it. I plan to find a new office. Since they wouldn't originally tell me where Dr. Pezeshki went (which I think might be a violation of patient's right to continuity of care) I looked him up on google and found him over in Watertown at Premier Dental. It's a little more of a drive for me, but he was so great I'm still considering it. Either way I don't want to go back to Gentle Dental in JP. That interaction just made me so uncomfortable unfortunately. read more

I've been here three times now. The first time I went I had a great experience, the second time it was ok and the third time definitely not good. The first time I saw Dr. Pezeshki who was wonderful. He is patient, has excellent chair-side-manner and is thorough. Fixed some minor problems with little pain and it was pretty quick. Hygienist was good too. I paid out of pocket for the additional work, which was pretty reasonable. Second time was just a cleaning, which was good but i had to come back twice: for the examination and separately for the cleaning. Third time, I had to come in three separate sessions. First time for the X-ray and exam, second time for the cleaning and third for filling in a cavity. I can't take three days off work to go to the dentist. That's just ridiculous. I told the hygienist that i had sensitive teeth and a small mouth, but that didn't stop her from attacking my teeth. This made my mouth hurt for 2 to 3 days afterwards. I paid my total with the insurance deductible, which wasn't trivial and then i get a bill in the mail for additional money owed. Now i understand getting it wrong in terms of knowing what the insurance will cover. But this was a simple cavity, not some complex procedure. I would suggest to go see Dr. Pezeshki if you can an appointment , otherwise i would go elsewhere. read more

I used to go to a very good but expensive dentist on Newbury Street for a number of years until he told me I had to get 2 crowns at over $2,500 each. I couldn't believe it. I decided to get a second opinion which I did while on vacation in Argentina (everything is cheaper there). That dentist told me not to touch the teeth because I may mess around and need a rout canal. I was feeling bad about avoiding my Newbury dentist after that and I needed a cleaning so a friend of mine that has serious teeth problems recommended me to gentle dental. On the first visit to gentle dental you get a cleaning for like $57 (lot's of places have this option to lure you in). What I liked though is that I asked the dentist about the need for the crowns and he told me the same thing as the Argentinian dentist, to hold off. So, points for honesty. After about 2 years (and some cleanings-still less expensive than my Newbury St. dentist) the time finally came when I decided to go ahead and get the crowns. My fear was that the tooth would crack and I'd have to go in for an emergency. 2 temporary crowns were put on by Dr. Pezeshki. After a week I still had a lot of pain so he suggested I come in so he could make an adjustment. He made the adjustment and told me to email him if I was still having pain in a few days. I like that he gave me his email to contact him, more stars for that. After a few days I still had the pain so I emailed him, and he emailed me back right away with a referral for Dr. Agha-Razi. After meeting with Dr. Agha-Razi I was kind of skeptical because of course now I needed the rout canal and didn't want to have to go through all that. The bills were adding up (I don't have dental insurance). The next available appointment for Dr. Agha-Raziwas 3 weeks away.......oh the agony! While I was telling the secretary I couldn't put it off that long, Dr. sAgha-Razi came out to say that he would move his schedule around to see me in 3 days. Another star. The day of the appointment finally came. I was a little anxious because I've heard about so many horror stories about rout canals, but it was nothing. The doctor was very gentle, gave me tons of nova caine, and I didn't feel a thing. It actually felt like he was flossing my teeth. I just had this procedure done so I'm hoping it was successful and that I won't have to go back (except to put the permanent caps on). If I have any problems I will update. But for the experience and the price if you don't have insurance, it's well worth it. By the way: the caps were $1097 x2 but tDr, Pezesju gave me 10% off that bill. The rout canal was $1097 Dr. Agha-Razi didn't give me anything off...he said he usually charges $1500. Remember...I don't have insurance. If you've seen it for less...let me know. As far as I know the prices were reasonable compared to other dentists. read more

I tried out Gentle Dental in JP with a Groupon coupon. Sadly I am not impressed. When I was first seated they kept me waiting in the "chair" and the told me I was there" to have my teeth whitened".The Groupon coupon I had submitted to the check-in receptionist was clearly for an exam -then a second visit for a cleaning. Had to repeatedly confirm I was not there for a teeth whitening. But the real problem for me was that they do not care about the patient's wishes. I did not want extensive x-rays but they insisted. They did extra ones but did not find anything. I did not want the dentist and the dental hygienist to both do a " perio" probing measurement exam but they insisted. It is almost like they are practicing on you like at dental school. Also the x-rays were not clear and they made a comment that the panoramic x- ray machine was not working well. Short story: I got a wisdom tooth removed by Dr. Mahoozi and though he did a fine job with the actual procedure, he threw prescriptions at me without explaining what they were/when to take then, he was incredibly condescending, and failed to (even try to) figure out what was causing me excruciating pain (just a simple piece of food, I found out from another dentist). I would never recommend him to anyone, ever. Long story: I had an impacted wisdom tooth that had been bothering me on and off for several years, and decided I needed to get it out. My dental insurance had just expired, and, knowing I would need a cleaning, x-rays, and exam before I could get the extraction, I went with Gentle Dental since it's close to my house and they have the very enticing deal of $57 for first time patients. The exam was fine, all be it rushed, but the cleaning was ANYTHING but gentle. The hygeinist was incredibly rude, and every time I said "ow", she wouldn't respond at all. Instead, after my (very painful) cleaning, she chastised me for not flossing. I should have trusted myself from this interaction, and not have gone through with my wisdom tooth extraction at a place that is so thoroughly corporate, where I already felt treated like cattle. Next was my meeting with Dr. Mahoozi. From the first meeting I felt that he seemed rushed, rude, and overall not invested in my health. His assistant, however, was incredibly sweet and kind, and could tell I was nervous in the initial meeting. She reassured me that Dr. Mahoozi was a great doctor, and that he knows what he's doing. After this meeting, I went to the front desk and found 4 perscriptions, none of which had been explained to me. One was an antibiotic, one was a steroid, one was Motrin, and one was Vicodin. I had no idea what they were for, and so I assumed my tooth was infected and I needed to take the antibiotic. I wouldn't know until two weeks later that the antibiotic was intended for after my surgery. Even after calling and leaving a message for Dr. Mahoozi, he never returned my call to inform me what the drugs were for. Then came the day of the procedure. I sat in the chair and took a breath, when Dr. Mahoozi said (already with his face mask on) "Ok, so first we'll take the one tooth out and then the other." That was the moment I should have run out the door screaming. Not only could this guy not bother to explain his medications, but he didn't even bother to look at what procedure I was having done, and WHICH TOOTH he was removing. I was terrified from then on, shaking and crying on the chair. Instead of checking in and seeing what he could do to help me feel more relaxed, all he said to me was "You should have taken a Zanax." The entire procedure he was incredibly condescending. When I asked a question about what he was doing, his response was, "I'm not an idiot. I've done this before." His entire attitude reeked of sexism, not explaining anything he was doing when I had explicitly told him to before the procedure. Finally, it was over, and he gave me a brief explanation of after care. In his explanation, all he basically said was that I should eat "soft foods" like "yogurt and rice", not explaining anything about care or cleaning. I was told by friends that I would need a syringe to clean out the hole after surgery, but he said "He did such a good job" that there was no need. He was very, very wrong. The first two days post-procedure were fine. I iced regularly and took Motrin. I even went to school the next afternoon and felt great. On the third day, however, I started experiencing the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced in my life. Throbbing, shooting, pain through my jaw and ear. I went back to Dr. Mahoozi on Saturday for him to tell me what the hell was going on. I had done my own research and found that it probably needed to be irrigated. Instead, Dr. Mahoozi, rushed as usual, took a look and said it "looked fine" and threw more drugs at me. I was shocked, but decided just to do what he said. I took the Vicodin and Motrin and the pain was still throbbing. Thank God, I decided I needed to get another opinion. The next day I went to Pure Dental, down the street, and I have never made a better decision. They were not surprised that I was coming from Gentle Dental, as they get many new clients from there. The Dentist was incredibly sweet and kind, explaining everything as he was doing it. The first thing he did was irrigate the area, finding some food particles that were pressing on a nerve and causing much of the pain. I felt immediate relief. How could Dr. Mahoozi not have figured out the VERY simple cause of my pain? $596 dollars later (which is a whopping $300 more than they initially quoted me), I have learned my lesson. This office is a money making scam! I was forced to go to this office because it was the only dentist office in JP that my insurance covered. I went for the first visit, which was an exam and cleaning and they informed me that they needed a note from my dr. because I was pregnant. My OB/GYN said she had never heard of a dentist not doing a cleaning because someone was pregnant. When I went back a second time for the cleaning, x-rays, and exam the hygienist and x-ray techs were both friendly. The doctor was also nice, but told me that I had 7 cavities. This was very surprising since I had only had 1 cavity in 31 years. The dr. did show me on a camera the spots that he was calling cavities. They gave me an estimate of $1,100 to fill all 7 cavities. I left the office not really believing that could get 7 cavities since my last exam a year ago. I decided to call my previous dentist office to compare x-rays. They offered to give me a free exam and found that none of the discolored spots were actually signs of decay. The dentist said that there were no soft spots on my teeth an he would not advise getting any of them filled until they show signs of decay. Long story short, if you are told by this office that you need extensive dental work done, get a second opinion. The dentist never even checked for decay or soft spots he just looked at discolorations, which does not always mean you have a cavity! read more
