I'm very sensitive about dental care because I've had really bad experiences and I came in today already knowing I have a lot of problems in my mouth but Dr David was so kind and professional it made the visit very easy. I never felt pressured, shamed, or embarrassed during my visit, which was really nice. I had two crowns that had come off and the teeth underneath had fractured so they needed to be removed. The abscesses were causing my pain. They were able to remove the teeth the same day, which was a huge relief, and the removal was waaaay less traumatic than the other extraction I have had. I barely felt the pressure from it at all. I will be coming back in a week to continue my treatment plan. I was really happy with my experience here and feel comfortable coming back.

When I brought the situation to the manager's attention and tried to explain what had happened, I was shocked by how dismissive and rude the interaction became. Rather than trying to understand or resolve the issue, I was essentially told that I could either pay the additional fee or find another dentist in my area. I was then told to leave the practice. I have never experienced this level of disrespect at a healthcare office, especially while trying to calmly address what I believed was a scheduling and communication issue. Being spoken to this way in front of other people was incredibly embarrassing and upsetting, particularly after driving more than 90 minutes for the appointment. My experience involved serious issues with them being dishonest about my insurance, billing, and what I believe was unnecessary fear surrounding additional treatment. Before my wisdom tooth procedure, I provided the office with both my HMO and PPO insurance information and specifically asked about my coverage. I was told they accepted my insurance, and the office actually gave me a breakdown sheet showing what my insurance was expected to cover and what I would owe. According to that breakdown, I was going to owe very little out of pocket, with the only additional cost being the bone grafting they recommended I "needed". After my procedure, I discovered that my insurance had not actually been run until after the surgery was completed. I was then told that I had only provided one insurance plan, despite the fact that I had provided both. I ultimately paid over $2,400 out of pocket, while my insurance covered only approximately $250. My insurance also urged me to file a grievance through them about this dental studio because they could also see how they filed the claims were completely wrong and I should have gotten an almost fully covered surgery. The most concerning part of my experience was the recommendation for bone grafting at two of my wisdom tooth extraction sites. The doctor reviewed my scans and discussed nerve damage and the possibility that I could experience extreme pain if I did not have the bone grafting done. I was scared by what I was being told and agreed to the procedure because I did not want to risk living with severe pain. What made this even more concerning was that the office initially did not want to submit the bone grafting through my insurance and instead wanted me to pay for it directly out of pocket. After I insisted that it be submitted to insurance, my insurance company contacted me and was reportedly confused about why bone grafting had been added to my wisdom tooth procedure, as it is not something they commonly see billed in this situation. After the procedure, I did my own research and learned that bone grafting is not routinely necessary for every wisdom tooth extraction. That made me seriously question why I was made to feel that this procedure was necessary to prevent extreme pain, particularly when the office had already given me an insurance breakdown showing I would owe very little aside from the expensive grafting initially. The combination of the insurance issues, the conflicting information about the insurance, the fact that my insurance was apparently not verified until after the procedure, the pressure surrounding the bone grafting, and the attempt to have me pay for the grafting directly rather than submit it to insurance has left me feeling that I was not given transparent information before agreeing to treatment. I should not have had to spend countless hours going back and forth with the dental office and my insurance company trying to figure out what happened after the fact and way overpaying what insurance told me should have been covered and they told me that at first too. Also, I cant understand why there are a few negative reviews about their receptionists. Rita has always been super sweet & I can't remember the other ladies name but they have always been super polite and helpful with scheduling, rescheduling, checking in & helping me get a referral to an oral surgeon. Calmly told what was needed. Cleared up any uncertainties on current state of my teeth. Was able to take the time to explain my last dental visit (25) years ago and how my teeth health declined over the years - to the current condition it was in. I was not badgered, judged, ridiculed, or dismissed for my bad dental habits. I admit I eat sweets and don't rinse or brush in between meals, just in the morning and before sleep time. Explained what each visit would entail. Gave options on how to proceed. Ended with "No pressure. We will try our best to make it as easy as possible and hopefully you'll consider us". 2nd: It was communicated to the next doctor that I have a deathly fear of needles. I don't care what the rest of the world thinks. When seeing or even thinking of a needle, I imagine an unsteady hand stabbing it in the wrong place only to pull it out with blood gushing all over the place. Fortunately, this was understood by the doctor and I was able to get my deep cleaning without needles. The process was steady and not rushed. I was asked every step of the way if I wanted to proceed and how I was feeling. In the end I was sat down for a summary. I had time to ask as many questions as I needed. It was asked of me to check on my gum health for swelling or bleeding. They will follow up on next visit. 3rd: Gum health improved noticibly. Finished up last session with some light cleaning, no deep cleaning this time. Encourage me to keep using WaterPik floss machine and rinse my mouth with water in-between meals. Mentally helped me prepare for the next visit which would involve the infamous "needle"!! Oh boy. I dreaded this for the last 25 years. However, it had to be done since I needed 7 fillings, 1 new cap, 1 old cap replaced and possibly a root canal. I was also suffering nerve pain in my upper left side. Because a tooth was left thin and exposing too much gum. 4th: Right side fillings and preparation for a new cap. The Dentist this time asked politely if I would put my trust in them. I was asked to close my eyes and count slowly backward from 100. First they put on the numbing cream, no problem. My mouth was gently massaged as a small stream of cool water/air hit the spot of the injection. I believe this was to distract from the actual injection. Either way, I was extremely aware of all this as it was happening. By the time 95 was up I was asked "how did it go?". Honestly, it was still very scary for me. As for the pain, there was no pain! Unbelievable. 5th: Finished up filling on left side. I had a huge gap on the tooth that was giving me nerve pains. It was methodically filled in and cured layer by layer. That makes me feel like care was put into it. All other filling were also done on that side. Not sure how many fillings I had on which side. At this point I was just thrilled I got great treatment. Since I mentally prepared myself and already had a needle from the last treatment, it was such a relief to know I can now safely visit dentist again. I told the doctor, "It just feels like somebody poking you.". I thought there would be a really sharp pinch. The reality was it felt like a friend poking you with their fingernail. * If done properly, the needle should not hurt or even scare you. I'm sure I sounded like a broken record to them when I expressed my concerns. I can tell they communicated well with the previous doctors and already knew what kind of patient they were dealing with. I believe the entire staff is trained well and acts with professionalism. They treat their patients with respect and care for them. There are doctors who have worked there for over 20 years and still have pride in what they do. This place is not sloppy. It is the opposite. Some essential criteria all dental practices should have answers to: 1. Describe pain level during procedures. 2. Describe pain level after procedure and how to deal with it. 3. Explain how long it may take to recover from pain. 4. Recommend course of action to prevent repeat procedures. Eg. redo deep cleaning 5. Recommend absolute necessary procedures to maintain long health teeth vs optional procedures. Eg. Are fillings good enough or do you need " crown or cap" 6. With good dental hygiene vs bad hygiene, how long will your work last before I have to go back in to redo it. All these concerns and questions were met optimally. After checking with some Internet research, I praise this practice for giving no nonsense accurate answers. This business is not local to me but in desperation to find someone to look at my tooth, I called them. A nice girl named Caitlin answered the phone and told me they were booked at least a month out. I explained my situation and after putting me on hold, she was able to squeeze me in for an exam within two days. She made sure to tell me they may not be able to perform the work needed right away. Whatever. At least I am moving in the right direction. She offered to email me all forms and authorizations so that when I came in, they could see me right away and not take a bunch of time with paperwork. Super convenient! I wish all doctors and dentists did this. I arrived today for my exam/evaluation at 11am and was greeted at the door with a smile (no pun intended). I did not have a mask and was politely told it was their policy to protect their other patients, which I understand. I literally did not wait more than five minutes until being taken to the back for x-rays. I had Rosanna take my x-rays and she had heard from Caitlin that I was very nervous but not to worry. She originally took x-rays of the tooth in question but decided we might as well go through and do x-rays of all of my teeth. I know they were really squeezing me in but they took the time to go the extra mile rather than have me come back for a regular check-up. She was really nice and efficient. I always waited for her to say "bite down" before biting down. Of course, I failed to do this at the end and bit her finger. I couldn't be more apologetic and embarrassed. She told me she works with kids all the time and has gotten used to it. I now recognize she saw me as a 35 yr old kid, afraid of the dentist office. Afterwards Dr. Tran came in and quickly assessed a cavity as well as two other ones. I knew there were probably a couple others but no pain meant no rush. He recommended we get all three done at one time to limit the visits needed or further complications of them getting worse. He couldn't have been more gentle with my apprehension when looking in my mouth. He came in almost immediately after the x-rays were done. That never seems to happen. I found this practice to probably be the quickest, most efficient, honest and above-all, conscious of my immediate need for help. I understand doctors that do this for repeat patients but to squeeze me in and I've never visited the office before? Unheard of. Not local but I would/will make the drive for this group anytime. From the receptionist to the assistant/hygienist, to the dentist, everyone was world-class. I cant thank them enough. I'll update with a review on how my filling goes!
