Canyon Crest Dental (CCD) in Riverside is located at the Canyon Crest Towne Centre behind Hangar 24 and across the gym, next to Dr Fishberg Family Vision Center. I came here a little over year ago to find relief for an unbearable toothache (which resulted in me getting a root canal and crown) that my regular dentist could not help me with and have stayed a loyal patient with CCD since then. In my experience with Canyon Crest Dental, they set the bar high compared to other dental offices for number of reasons: * Employees. They have happy employees ready to help. Even when walking in, they are ready to make sure you are checked in for your appointment. They always look polished and professional. They always have a smile and I like that! * Communication. Communication is great. They pick up the phone in a timely manner and help answer your question quickly. And they are ready to follow-up with you. Even by email, they are quick to respond to your question. * Appointments. Scheduling appointments is easy. And they have multiple reminders (e.g., text, email, etc.) leading up to the appointment to ensure your appointment is confirmed. Before I leave, they make sure I already have my next appointment in their system. * Cleanliness. It smells clean upon entering and appears clean as well. The aesthetic already puts you in a good mood even if you're anxious about a procedure. This makes me feel great about coming here. * Comfortable. During each visit, they made me feel comfortable and informed me about what they were doing throughout the process so that I can sit and let them do the work. They make sure you have shades on so you don't get the bright lights or gunk on you. I've also been offered a blanket to feel comfortable and was offered bottled water during my wait. * Professional. The staff wear earpieces to communicate with one another discreetly. It makes for a seamless process as you transition from the lobby to the exam room or to the payment office, etc. The staff is courteous and they ensure you are well taken care of. * Up-to-date. They stay updated with technology so I know they are using the latest and best devices. Even when Dr. Leoni left, they were quick to update their website, in-lobby television ads, and exterior window signage. Overall (and despite the money I've paid), I am a completely satisfied patient and I know I have found a great dental team. I started with Dr. Randal Leoni, who was patient and took excellent care of me and my teeth. I now have Dr. Andy Lou who helps to make sure I have the same great care. I really enjoyed the techs (especially Eva) who have helped with my dental work as well. I went into the office today 8/15/25 to get an impression for a crown made. I was assigned to Dr. Brent. The dental asst took an xray then made the mold. However during this process the dental assistant dropped an item in my mouth that I could have swallowed, choked, and literally died. She yanked my head to the side and said don't move and she was able to retrieve item that was dropped. Smh... So there's that. My crown will be ready in 2 weeks. However, Dr. Brent's next available appointment is not until 4 weeks (9/15). Unfortunately I have an existing commitment on the day. Her next available appointment is 6 weeks (9/29) from today. Mind you I also made full payment for the crown that I should receive in 2 weeks but due to the drs availability I can't receive it for 6 weeks. I asked if I can see another dentist, the staff said No because I'm already with Dr Brent. All Dr. Brent did was look at the X-ray and said it looked good. Very disappointed. I don't see the big deal of assigning another dentist when all she did was look at the x-ray. She did not even look in my mouth. And had I known I would have to wait another 6 weeks for crown placement I would have asked to be assigned to a different dentist prior to the assistant taking the X-ray. 6 weeks seems outrageous especially because I paid in full today. The dentists and hygienists are fantastic but their front office staff really ruins it for them. Multiple issues with billing and incorrect statements. When you explain the issue they recall but nothing is changed in the system. A few weeks/months go by and you get a new statement showing issues again. Quite frustrating. I was told I had 5 cavities and needed multiple root canals. The odd thing is that I had made it to my fifties with not a single cavity, and now...5? Second opinion from another dentist: no cavities, and I am happily still cavity-free. If you have insurance, beware. Most people don't ask enough questions about their dental issues. I've been going to this dentist since I was a teenager, my mom always loved this place because they were so patient with me and explained everything in great detail. Never made us feel awkward. I came back after 12+ years. Tried different places because we moved and since I finally came back to the IE after all this time and my mother passing away. They are still the sweetest people and one of the assistance that used to help me back then is still working here to this day!!! Was a previous patient of Merrihew a few times, an associate dentist, and the associate dentist's wife. Broke/popped out a tooth towards the front (upper #7). Did not want an implant, thus chose a bridge (#6,7,8) Concerned about color matching so chose to do the entire front (6-11), crowns on successive teeth. Chose a white color. Didnt think that wud be too difficult for the BRAND NEW female dentist. Turned out it was. Turned out the chick and her pal upstairs, the tech that makes your teeth, just cudnt get things right. FYI Lets remember there are porcelain teeth (beautiful(!) then there's the zirconium teeth) When it all began, dentist and many of the staff were excited saying "IF YOU DONT LIKE THEM YOU DONT HAVE TO ACCEEPT THEM!" ok, shall I take them at their word?? In the beginning, she never asked if I wanted porcelan (yes!!) Or the zirconium. She made the decision for me. As I said, I wud have gone with porcelain. But 2 weeks later they put the new teeth in - do you like em? Do you like em says the staff? (these are my front teeth) Well, no. They had a greyish irridesence (this is my SMILE!) Even the hygenist said "these are kinda grey". The 'artiste' and I talked for 45 mins about what i was hoping for. I kept trying to get him to talk. He was holding back with each question. I even brought picture of my smile. He just didnt get something, or he realized then that zirconium doesnt polish up well and didnt want to say. Anyone can see that my smile is who I am! But something, this guy was hedging on, was holding back. Something was up. He cud have told me that the ziconium the female dentist chose for me are kinda greyish, especially if over-polished. I sent them back. Said no. I was disappointed. What had this dentist and this guy,what cud they have missed when I said 'I want white ?? (white is not grey). Meanwhile Im coming in everyday bc the dental assistant must have been using sh*t cement bc I was coming in every day to have my front teeth recemented EVERYDAY. Whats up with that? Im starting to get upset. Long story short, they sent the work out to another lab (we are continuing to take up my time, weeeeks. Months x4 altogether) Meanwhile Im seeing them almost EVERYDAY for a re-cement job. My teeth just keep falling out. Lets remember these are my front teeth. The RDA must not have liked me. Is it called jealousy. (Oh my!! pooor girl. Not a pretty girl.) I get to my car, start to drive away. Have a family function to go to that Saturday morning. Started to drive away and my front teeth all fall out. Go back in and get another girl to re-cement these teeth. Well, she clued me in on something once I told her who had been responsible for each re-cement job where my teeth fell before I cud even get home. This young lady that gave me the information did a great job. Her cement job worked. These temporary teeth stayed in 2 weeks!! She said "I'll help you! Dont you worry". Then the permanent ones come back from an outside lab. They were horrible. And at this point, Im not being picky - I just need teeth. One last time, 4 months later, I tell them what I want (for 7 grand, i think I shud kinda get what I want??) More teeth made up by the guy in the upstairs lab. He doesnt like me bc I had asked him after the grey teeth came in, I asked him what happened to the color. Why the teeth werent white. (Many crowns & veneers are white) All I cud think was $7000, SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. One last set of teeth. Im remember in the beginning, 'you dont need to accept them if you dont like them' (ok where are the porcelain ones???) The final product was white. But these clowns intentially took my smile away. I had a big beautiful white GOD-GIVEN smile without the aid of orthodontia. The dentist I had for 30 years loved my teeth, my smile. My smile is part of my bubbly personality. Goodness knows what these teeth are made from. Oh and one tooth was longer than the others - right in the front. And they had the nerve to add an additional 5 grand to the bill. Can you believe. Back up to when they sent an order to the outside lab, they never even told me they were doing that. They were doing a CYA. These are mediocre dentist at best. Then an entire bridge fell out that her hubby did. Make sure they get the margins correct. If not, decay will form in whats left of the tooth thats covered by that crown, and you will need dental surgery. And you will get blamed. These ppl overcharge for work that is not up to par. Be careful. I wud go elsewhere. read more

My 9 month update from my original review. I am still having pain to the same teeth worked on at Canyon Crest Dental. After numerous visits with them they were unable to help me . They had exhausted all my dental funds just within months of the new year. I recently had to see another doctor for treatment until I can be seen in the new year when my coverage is refilled . I never wanted any of this just went in for a check up next thing I knew I had a list of things that needed to be done you want to trust the people that are working on your teeth but guess you can't . An extraction was recommended. I received a second opinion. As it turned out, the treatment was not done thoroughly. I am dissatisfied by the way my case was handled. Would not recommend treatment. I have been going to Canyon Crest for what feels like a few years now along with my boys and boyfriend. It's not the closest to us but the quality of thoroughness and time that is invest in their clients is great and well worth it. They will be straight forward with recommendations and options and won't hesitate to tell you when you don't need something. They can be really busy at times but that's realistic everywhere so I recommend never booking an appointment when you have a tight schedule that day as I've seen others give the front desk employees a hard time for no reason... In one of my pics we moved around my teeth in this not so ideal pose to send to my bf as a prank of what my teeth will look like after Invisalign. We didn't go with this option but it shows just how technology can transform your look. I'm happy with the office overall and will continue to recommend them! read more

Do you enjoy shopping for a used car? At one time, I believe this was one of the premier dental clinics in Riverside. Perhaps the Inland Empire. In my opinion, not anymore. If you want to be treated and shuffled around like a buyer at a used car lot then this is the place for you. I'm tired of the shuffle, I've moved on. The crew at Canyon Crest Dental reminds me of the staff at the four seasons. Both companies don't train their staff to have amazing personalities they both just hire very well. The staff at Canyon Crest Dental are efficient, friendly, kind, productive, committed to excellence and have mastered the art of good communication. The staff that I have interacted with and have been highly impressed with have been Amanda in administration who has such a kind, helpful and pleasant demeanor. I feel heard in her presence, and I get to interact with her after each appointment to go over my appointment and to schedule my future appointment. Amanda was my first interaction with the company, and it has gone well with everyone ever since. Then there is Monica who is an EF and committed to perfection and excellence which is something I can appreciate and I feel that she works on my mouth as how she would want someone to work on her.....she takes huge pride in her work. Then Ariana who has a fun personality and helped put me at ease with good communication and humor before they started working on me. Irma the EF who is take charge, productive, operates with a 'I get things done" type of personality which made me feel safe and at ease. Then Dr Leoni who anyone meeting him for the first time would probably describe him as cool and friendly. Very down to earth personality. The staff here are all great communicators and have all greeted me with smiles and warmness. On the business side this place is extremely clean, very well organized, and extremely high tech. Whatever the latest gadget to use for dental care this company has purchased it. This makes things quick and efficient for their patients and I love it. Great crew and a great Dental practice. I have been going here for 4 years now after some really awful experiences with two other dentists in Riverside. Believe me, there are many sketchy practices in Riverside where the staff is clueless and the billing is fraught with `mistakes'. I love the staff, professionalism, organization, reliability of Canyon Crest Dental. Once I had a question with billing and the staff got back to me right away and clarified my concerns. I have never been overbilled or felt pressured into procedures that I did not want. This is not the case with other practices. WOW!! I have been a patient for over 30 years!! i have been through cavities, 6 month check ups and most recently a crown! I am afraid of needles and I had a cracked crown! I can't Dr. Brent enough for her compassion and her kindness through my crown procedure. She knew my fear and she was so helpful through it all. Be cautious--this place may try to exhaust your insurance benefits, leaving you to cover additional costs out of pocket. Make sure to review your dental statements closely and contact your insurance provider about any unexpected charges. I plan to report them to Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau.
