As one who hasn't had the best of experiences with dentists, and has a fair bit of anxiety when I have to get work done, I can happily say that I have finally found a practice that can alleviate all those past issues. First of all, the office is set up and decorated in such a way that it welcomes you in to a relaxing homey environment. Dr. Richard and her staff are quick to assist and carry around a professional and friendly demeanor. The entire crew cares about your experience, so they take great care in making sure the patient is comfortable and well informed about all work done. Because Dr. Richard is well up to date with the latest practices and devices in dentistry, any procedure that is done supersedes my past expectations. First and Last... I was gravely disappointed in their lack of providing me with a thorough evaluation as promised. I went in thinking I had a cavity and was told I would have a full appointment to not only see how they could help with the pain, but also give me my annual check up. I didn't get the full evaluation because "they didn't have time." I left in pain and was given a very, very aggressive oral surgical plan requiring a dental implant, major oral surgery, six months of healing time, a "flipper" (fake tooth) for my missing tooth that would take six months to recover before said implant could be put in. Having never had any oral issues in my life, I was crying my eyes out and left terrified and very confused. I didn't even know what was wrong because it wasn't explained to me. They took three x-rays and referred me to a "Surgical Artist" on the other side of town. Told me to make an appointment and they would see me after that... Before I could even ask questions, I was looking at around $6K out of pocket because jeez, I just used all my insurance coverage on the three x-rays they took... for the YEAR. No, no payment plans here. But, in the office, they had a fireplace, a Keurig machine with multiple choices, a refrigerator, a large screen TV to stream Netflix... but no, no payment plans available. I don't know too many people that walk around with $6K in their pockets. I was encouraged by a good friend to get a second opinion and I did. THANK GOODNESS. Not only did the other Dentist see me immediately, they didn't even charge me for my visit and they took 6 x-rays, spent about 1 hour looking at possibilities and had me at their Endodontist within an hour for a root canal. I avoided an unnecessary and very expensive surgery by going to a practice where they actually care about their patients and take their time to find the right solutions. I walked out with my problem fixed within a few hours, a payment plan and a Dentist that I will see for the rest of my life, as well as, refer to everyone I know. read more

Dr. Richard is a very sweet lady with great chairside manner. Unfortunately, her bizarre policies have made me too irritated to continue to go here. I called to cancel an appointment on a Tuesday morning at 9am due to an unforeseen issue that I couldn't help or avoid. My appointment wasn't until Thursday at 1:15pm. I rescheduled the appointment and the receptionist said "Please keep in mind we have a 48 hour cancellation policy for which you'll be charged". Tuesday morning to Thursday afternoon is more than 48 hours doing my math... I asked what she was talking about. Since they're usually closed on Wednesday's that day is exempt from the policy. So, if you have anything come up last minute, you still have to pay them - you're getting penalized for having a life because they only work four days a week. I also found it suspicious that I haven't had a cavity for 29 years of my life and when I started seeing her I had to get 4 fillings. At the following 6 month appointment I had another 4. It's not like I've gone a long time between seeing dentists - I just had to find a location that was more convenient and found her through my Delta Dental Insurance. Does it seem odd to anyone else that I got 8 cavities in a year though my dental hygiene practices haven't changed? Long story short I would NOT recommend this dental office. read more

I was a a regular patient for five years and then I changed my insurance to UHC dental and then I was hit with many high charges by the dentist. Expect excessive charges from the practice. I have departed using this dental practice. I was also told I needed to replace three crowns by Dr. Richard and my new dentist does not recommend these excessive replacements. I agree with many other comments that this dental practice is looking to get as much money from it's patients out of pocket and charging non competitive billings to customers. Good Luck read more

I love how this office doesn't rush to do fillings or extra work to make money, they really focus on the needs of the patient and what makes sense. I never feel pressured or uncomfortable. I'm happy with my dentist and billing, but I come in for my appointments with my toddler. I've had two cleanings, a crown, and a mouth guard. The waiting area is pretty and they have a play area, she can watch Barney instead of violent or fast-flickering "children's" movies, and she is always in view of the receptionist. Plenty of parking. I really appreciate not hiring a sitter for my appointments. Easy communication with Dr Richard who is also a mom of small kids. They take military Tricare insurance! read more

This is my first ever review comment in yelp. This office lied to me when I first called them to confirm my insurance coverage. I was told on phone that they are in the network of my insurance-blue cross blue shield, which offers a very good insurance coverage. I went to have regular visits and deep cleaning. I paid my portions each time I visited ($229 x2 for my deep cleaning and $229 x2 for my husband). I was told many times during my visits that this is all I need to pay. The rest portion will be covered by my insurance. After 4 months, I received a $800 bill from them. I called to ask this dental office and was told that my insurance is out of network and I need to pay the rest of it!!!!!!!! Why did they tell me I was in network at the very beginning!!!!!! during the phone conversation, I was told that it is my responsibility to know if they are in network or not!!!!!! but whose responsibility for providing the patient wrong information!!!!! read more

Dr. Johnson is great, I look forward to going to the offic because she has such a good personality. besides that, she is truly interested in Dentistry. I think if she had a choice for her birthday or Christmas, she'd rather have dental toys than anything else. I had a very unusual problem with my jaw--while no one knows much about it, she knew enough to treat it. Since I no longer have dental insurance, the office offered me a 350.00 card that would play for 2'clewnings a year and discount my dental work by 20%. I thought that was fair, especially since I avoid getting my teeth cleaned, however, I'm now faced with having to get a molar crown replaced. I had made an appointment to get the crown replaced on Friday last week but I called on Momday asking if someone would,get back to me to talk about pricing with me. I did get a message but not the information I needed. I called again and got voice mail so instead of asking for them to call me back, I cancelled my appointment. On Thursday, I received a voice message confirming my appointment on Friday. ????? Had to call again and cancel. I called yesterday to ask what the cost would be and was quoted about &1,800.00 and with the card, $1500.00. Having done some calling and research on the Internet, the average cost was a little less than &1,000.00. When I asked the receptionist to find out what the alternatives were (who wants to lpay $1,500.00 every 5-8 years to get a crown replacement?), she said that she would ask the Dentist and call me back today. Since I didn't want to be called early in the morning, I suggested that I call when I could. The receptionist said that it wasn't a good idea because I would only get voicemail. On top of that, she didn't call back today. Unfortunately, thisI is very typical of how the front office works. Since I have the card to get my tooth cleaning done this year, I will be taking advantage of that. However, I can't justify paying 50% more for my crown. I wish I could justify keeping all my business there. read more

To keep our family's experience short for the readers, I have a dental background and was first please with this business, but became leery after their customer service was unprofessional and then suddenly we all "needed fillings" after years of healthy teeth. Nothing changed with our our personal care, so we got second opinions---none of the work they suggested was needed. Watch your pocket books. They are tricky. Their clean and modern facility can give you a sense of security, but their business and dental practices are not ethical. Over $1,000.00 was saved from trusting my gut and getting a second opinion. Dr Richard is the best dentist I've ever had! I have always had a horrible fear of visiting the dentist and I admit that I put off proper dental care for years. I first visited Dr Richard a few years ago and had to have extensive work done. She put me at ease and took baby steps to tackle the necessary work making all the visits and procedures easier for me to deal with. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Richard! Well as embarrassing as it is to actually say it's been over five years since I've been to a dentist. The thought of going to a dentist just makes me very uncomfortable. Today after doing a lot of research I found this amazing office. From Sheree at the front desk to Allison the hygienist to Dr Johnson.. I have never felt more comfortable ever. The energy of this place is very caring and kind and compassionate. Although I have some things I need to take care of I will feel very comfortable getting all of my treatment and care done with this staff. Don't put it off any longer!!! Go to the dentist. I went to Dr. Richard for the first time earlier this year and had a wonderful experience! Everything was easy, from filling out my new paperwork online to the text message notification I got to remind me of my appointment time. The cleaning I received was thorough, painless, and quick. My time with Dr. Richard after the cleaning was also great. Everyone in the office was friendly, from the front desk staff to each person I spoke to in the back. My entire family went here for 4 years. We were loyal customers. In fact we were some of their first customers when they opened. My husband came down with a cold (sore throat, headache, etc.) one morning and called to cancel his appointment because he just couldn't make it in. Two days later we received a bill for cancelling the same day. I called to try and discuss with them that he was sick and couldn't make it in. I was told he cancelled the same day and we would need to pay the fee. I was also reminded that he signed an agreement and should stay true to my agreement to pay a late fee should he cancel the same day. I told them that surely the doctor would understand that he was sick. They told me they would get back with me. I received a phone call a few minutes later that the doctor said we needed to pay it. I told her we would no longer be going to their business. She said they would be happy to send our records some place else. Please shop around before going here. Their prices are some of the highest in the area. My family wanted to find a place that was near our home. I went here to support a local business and received the poorest customer service I've ever had. It wasn't the late cancellation fee we were to pay. I get that. It was the way they handled it that got to me. This whole situation could have been resolved with the business trying to build positive relationships with their clients. Dr. Richard and her team are awesome. I appreciate the consistency in their practice and love the follow-up and reminder calls. I have a 4-year-old daughter that sees Dr. Richard and I appreciate that my daughter had such a great first impression on what going to the dentist was like. On a regular basis my daughter asks if she can go see Dr. Jamie. They have a lot of distractions for those who have dentist office anxiety-her chairs are armed with small televisions with Netflix attached. We live all the way across town and probably pass 500 dentist offices on our way to see Dr. Richard however, we like the office, team, and dentist so much that we suffer through the Denver rush hour traffic to continue to see them. I just returned from my first appointment. I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate this place and am so glad I switched from another dentist in Golden! Everybody was so pleasant, the exam was very high tech and went much quicker and easier than my previous female dentist I had seen in Golden. The chairs are heated and have a massage setting which helps relax you while you have work done. Bonus- it is less expense than the dentist I was unhappy with (she always tried charging extra for "add-ons" like oral cancer screening which was included for free today). Double Bonus- the office is beautiful- I mean aesthetically it is such a lovely place to walk into. I AM SO VERY GLAD I TOOK A CHANCE AND SWITCHED TO DR. RICHARD! Do it!
