I see a lot of reviews talking about upselling and unnecessary treatment and I feel like I must say that whilst in my specific case this would not at all be relevant, it would take truly corrupt individual to do this to what is essentially a patient in a healthcare setting. I cannot in my wildest dreams see Dr. Aldo ever doing something like this - nor do I believe her to work in an environment in which this would ever take place. I stand firm in my belief that Bella Vita Dental is not capable of fostering this sort of behavior. The front desk staff were friendly and inviting and thorough with the answers to my questions, and Dr. Aldo and her team of dental assistants were kind, compassionate, and needless to say, all my issues were addressed and I am back to pain free. Whilst I do not look forward to the next time I have dental issues; I find comfort knowing I'm in great, compassionate hands with Dr. Aldo and all those at Bella Vita Dental.

TL;DR: The billing service that Bella Vita employs filed 2 insurance claims with incorrect billing…read moreinformation, which were denied by my insurance, and are refusing to update that info and resubmit the claim (as recommended by my insurance) and are leaving me with an outstanding $1167 bill. I was a patient with Bella Vita for about 5 years until I moved away last October. I decided to start Invisalign with them in May 2025 and paid my quoted amount ($2411) in full the day treatment started. To my surprise, in April 2026 I received a call that my claim had been denied by my insurance but they would help me out and file another claim that would hopefully be approved by Delta Dental but if that claim was denied, they would file an appeal for me. I got a text on May 11, 2026 that I had an outstanding balance that amounted to ~50% ($1167) of what I originally paid at the start of my treatment so I called to ask what happened and Emily at the front desk told that they filed an appeal for my denied claim but couldn't answer any insurance or billing questions due to the fact that their billing department is not done "in house" so they would have to relay all my questions to a separate service. The office also refused to give me any contact information for their billing department so I'm forced to play telephone with the office and their billing department but also said they could not tell me why my claims had been denied. I was, however, told that my benefits for ortho had been maxed out. I called my insurance immediately after that initial call and they told me that, no, my claim was not denied due to my coverage being maxxed out (it has not been at that point) but because there were errors with the billing information on the claims that were submitted. The insurance rep also notified me that they had no appeal on file, so either there is some technical issue on the insurance side or the office lied about filing an appeal for that 2nd denied claim. The insurance rep told me it was an easy fix and that the office's billing department just need to update that billing info, resubmit, and it should be approved. From May until August of this year, I've called 6 times asking for updates and relaying the message that all they have to do is update their incorrect billing info and resubmit the claim and it should be approved. Everytime I call, I'm met with "The claim was already filed and denied twice so there's not much we can do, but we'll ask the billing department again." I've tried asking for the practice manager and have been told "she's not at her desk but she will call you later" and I never receive that call. All in all, be wary of this place. Since their billing is not done in house, no one at the office can answer specific billing questions and refuse to give contact info for that billing office so you're forced to play telephone with them and their billing department if you ever have an insurance issue.

Given the reviews - it's unanimous - no one enjoys going to the dentist. It's a lot like going to…read morethe auto mechanic - once they open the hood, they are going to find something wrong and it's usually expensive. But NP Modern Dentistry is not like that at all. They've always been upfront and honest - backed it up with a few key x-rays - and more importantly - gentle when picking around in there. Dr. Holly is amazing, and the added bonus of the CEREC machine to 3D print those chompers. The hygienists and staff have been great - especially navigating the complexity of all these different insurance companies. So if that tooth is bugging you, and you're eyeballing the door knob with a piece of string - NPMD is going to treat you right. And it's far better than the alternative - looking like an extra in 'Deliverance 2: The Homecoming'

They had me do two different xrays, which required me to take out all of my piercings. The tech was patient with me as I took them all out. When it was time for my actual appointment, I thought everything was going great until they told me I had a cavity that required "special" treatment. This seemed very weird to me, especially because they didn't tell or show me where in my mouth the cavity was and went through the xrays too quickly for me to analyze. I have always had a sweet tooth, so I am no stranger to cavities, but I have never heard of this "special" treatment before. On top of that, every staff member I talked with told me different things about the health of my teeth. I was shocked when a staff member came in to discuss billing with me for this "special" treatment. It was going to cost me $500 WITH insurance! AND they asked me to pay for it right then and there. Needless to say, I was shocked and confused by everything so I decided to just make an appointment for the future. I'm soo glad I did and got the chance to read the reviews about how they upcharge whenever they can. I have never experienced such a thing and had no idea it was something dentist offices do. The only two things I liked about this place was that they have a different charity they help out with every month and they played good music the whole time I was there.

Well, today, the staff greeted me upon arrival. I was checked in and then asked to wait in the patient waiting room. The waiting room is clean, quiet, and calming before a visit. There is event a purified water dispenser with little cups for filling up. The dental technician/asst named Abby called my name for my appointment to begin. She greeted me and then she roomed me. Once in the room, she took internal photos of my teeth and mouth, gave me a blood pressure wristband , and also administered the saliva bacteria test/lab. I got the results within 10-15 mins on my online Dental MyChart record, they are quick here! Abby then received permission from the dentist to take me to get my x-rays. They have a standup machine that's like taking an oral CT Scan 360° photo of your mouth. Then we had the regular dental x-rays where you have to bite down on the trays with the xray manual camera. I really thought it was cool because they also offered to clean my orthodontic retainer while I was here. It literally took only 15 or 20 minutes and it has been cleaner than I've ever seen it since I got it 7-8 years ago. Thanks! Once done with all of my intake tasks, I was able to meet my new dentist, Dr Wu. I explained to her my concerns, and she was very good about examining my mouth and being gentle as well as giving me all of the information that I needed during her exam. I have to say this is probably the best dentist I've ever encountered so far. Her demeanor is wonderful and she does a really good job at articulating and explaining everything that she's thinking about or diagnosing in your mouth. I did also appreciate that she reviewed my saliva bacterial test results and that she gave really good insight on some of the things that the results mean. Doctor Who has a way of making you not feel bad about your situation in your mouth and I really appreciate her for that. Some people are really natural about positive bedside manner, and Dr. Woo was definitely one of those people. Thanks! Since I felt so comfortable, I have agreed to continue and get my work done here. Once Dr. Woo was done with me, she was able to introduce me to Tom who was able to give me all the information that I needed for my treatment plan and everything that Dr. Wu described and explained to me about her course of treatment. Tom is very pleasant and welcoming, and he is also the same person who checked me in and made me feel comfortable for my visit. I like his positive vibe, it matches Dr. Wu's positivity. I will update my review after I get my dental work done, but I'm very happy that I chose to come here. Today as a new patient, I got a brand new toothbrushing kit, which includes some really cool stuff. My daughter has been a patient at Kensington Dental for many years. Aggressive Tactics: During the periodontal probing (measuring gum pockets), the dentist scraped my back molars so aggressively that my gums bled--seemingly to justify their immediate claim that I needed an expensive "deep cleaning." Lack of Care: After making my mouth bleed, the dentist handed me off to an assistant after a mere 30 seconds of dialogue and abruptly left. I wasn't even offered water or mouthwash to rinse out the blood. The Cost: The assistant immediately pulled up a billing screen quoting me over $2,000 for the deep cleaning. The entire environment felt predatory, right down to the aggressive, propaganda-like informational posters and brochures plastered everywhere. Not an isolated incident: To make matters worse, a coworker of mine had an identical experience at their Mission Valley location. They were told they needed an emergency root canal despite never having a cavity in their life. They got a second opinion from an independent dentist, who confirmed their teeth were perfectly healthy--no cavity, and absolutely no root canal needed. Save your time, money, and oral health. Get a second opinion if you've already been to one of these offices, and avoid Smile Generation affiliates altogether.

I was once slightly late to a 7:00am appointment, and when I was booking my next visit, she told me, "maybe wake up a little earlier next time." The comment was unnecessary and left a negative impression for the remainder of my treatment. She also incorrectly told me they didn't accept United Concordia, which I later confirmed with another staff member was not true. The rest of the staff was always very friendly, but unfortunately that didn't make up for the bigger issue, my Invisalign treatment. I paid over $5,000 out of pocket and returned when I could for refinements due to PCS moves and pregnancy complications. At no point was it verbalized to me that there was an expiration date on my fully paid treatment. Then one day, I went in expecting a routine follow up to pick up the remainder of my Invisalign trays and was taken to a different room and told my treatment had "expired," and that I couldn't be seen. I was told I would need to pay a large additional fee to continue for a treatment I had already fully paid for. That felt extremely misleading. When I declined, they didn't offer to remove the attachments from my teeth, I had to go to another office and pay out of pocket to have them removed. I also never received the retainer or whitening treatment that were supposed to be included in my package. When I asked for the remaining trays I had already paid for, I was told by Kelly that I could not receive them. Overall, the lack of transparency and professionalism made me feel taken advantage of and uncomfortable, especially given the cost of treatment. I had been putting off writing this review, but after speaking to another professional, I feel others should be aware. If you're considering this office especially for Invisalign make sure any potential expiration of treatment is transparent or inquire about transferring treatment to another office if you're a military spouse in between moves. I am so happy I trusted my gut and found a dentist office with stellar reviews and did not receive care here. This place is a complete scam. Do yourself a favor and run as fast you can away from this place. I am not the only one who they have tried to take advantage of, read the other reviews and take them under strong advice.
