I was greeted promptly and waited only a few minutes to be seen by Dr. Nguyen to fill 2 cavities today. These were my first ever fillings, and I appreciated the care, understanding, and gentle work that I received. The preparatory numbing wasn't painful, and took effect quickly. While mentally I had to adjust to my mouth being propped open and having tools working in a small space, Dr. Nguyen worked efficiently and consistently checked on me throughout the process. The checkout process was efficient even with me using multiple payment methods. I also had my mouth guard cleaned while my procedure took place. Great place. I've had my cavities filled, basic care done for 4 years and finally an invisalign treatment there. The operations, sms and web integration excellent. Since it's a big chain, they are rotating their Dentists so I have come across excellent ones and lightly-phrasing not-so-excellent ones. My most recent experience was with Dr. Gary Rajput with several invisalign sessions over 8 months. Not sure if it's a consequence of Deontologie's scheduling policy or Dr. Gary's work style but he makes you wait on the chair at least 20 mins after an assistant sits you down and attends to whatever they do attend. I've finished whole episodes of shows waiting for him on the chair. I take this very inconsiderate since just like him, we all have lives and jobs to do. He is otherwise amazing the moment he walks into the room. He just doesn't. When I asked him why is this, he said he is the only one there on Thursdays. So if Dentologie is reading this, you can make his life and your patients' experience better if you attend to this. I for one, never would never plan on going to Dr. Gary on Streeterville again. read more

I visited this location for an emergency tooth issue during the workday. My typical dentist was out of town. and I was very nervous to try somewhere new. The staff were super kind, explained everything that was needed, and were very clear about the pricing and timeline needed for fixing the issue. I got a crown done that day. They sent me back to work with a temporary, and I came at the end of the day for my permanent crown. This visit alone made me a permanent customer of Dentologie. I have had no issues with the crown since and it's been about 10 months. read more

Staff was dismissive, rude and unhelpful. I was scheduled for a simple appointment to fix a lower retainer (which had been "fixed" at this location a year or two earlier) for $100. I arrived early for a 6pm appt. and when left waiting 20+ minutes after the 6pm appt. time, asked what happened. I was told the doctor was running late and because they booked me for "an hour" he could arrive at 6:55 pm and that would still be okay. Nobody told me this or I would have arrived later or rescheduled. After a litany of excuses for why this was perfectly reasonable, I left. I asked for a call back to lodge a complaint, but (surprise) nobody called. Plus, the dental tech could not even tell me what sort of metal my retainer contained (which I needed to know for another procedure). Not recommended. read more

I've had all forms of work done at Dentologie, everything from basic cleanings to fillings and a crown. If you're looking for a place that's easy to get into for a cleaning, they're fine. If you're looking for actual dental work, learn from my mistakes and please find a reputable independent dentist in the area, there are plenty. Of the four cavities that Dentologie found and fixed, two have had to be replaced after a year (including one that prompted this review), and my crown was replaced once by Dentologie (after cracking less than a month after the original procedure), and again by another practice after losing faith in them. That crown has been going for three years strong. TL;DR: If you want a quick cleaning that you can book online, they're fine. If you actually need real dental service done, dear god find a real dentist and not these private equity funded hacks. read more

I went to another dentist today (a year and a half after my Dentologie visit) and still did not need a deep cleaning and had no cavities in need of filling like they said at Dentologie. The fact that I let a year and a half go by and what dentologie said I needed was not the case is mind boggling. Do not go here!! Selected this office when I first moved to Chicago because it was close to my office and in network. They always kept my waiting in the chair for up to 30 minutes waiting to see the dentist. I also had a filling come out 4 TIMES! When I came back in to get it fixed and get a cleaning, they tried to charge me twice for seeing the dentist when he only came in the room one time. I spent way too much time here getting mediocre care. The place feels really off putting when they have so many people coming in and out. I would rather see a smaller practice and do not recommend this place at all. read more

Avoid this dental practice at all costs if you want proper care for your dental needs. Every call gets transferred to a third-party call center, and your requests are never met. I spent over three weeks and made more than 10 phone calls trying to get my X-rays sent to another doctor's office. Each time, the call center took down my information, but nothing was ever done. Another example, I needed to get hold of the doctor urgently due to an infection that caused my jaw to swell up. I called multiple times, and each time, the call center picked up, took down my details, and then... silence. I ended up having to find a new dental place where people in the office actually answer the phone and help you. Even simple tasks like setting up a follow-up appointment with your desired doctor are impossible. With no ability to connect to actual people in the office, nothing gets done on time. I've been with Dentologie for over eight years, and it's all going downhill because you can't speak to the people at the office directly. It's not the third-party call center's fault; the people in the actual office don't even process the requests that the call center is routing to them. read more

Favorite dentist ever! I've only ever had bad experiences at the dentist, but Dentologie - Streeterville completely changed that. So easy to set up appointments and the staff and dentists are so sweet and welcoming. Each station has a tv on the wall and ceiling with streaming options to watch during your appointment. As a person with a phobia of the dentist, I would definitely recommend! Very modern, beautiful office and kind staff. Somehow everyone that works here is gorgeous haha so if you want a handsome dentist this is the place to go. I've been here a few times and thus far only positive things to say. I appreciate that they are up to modern technology and trends. Televisions on the ceiling, clean spacious office, even sleek little dental bags they give you at the end. And I didn't feel pressured to purchase anything or have anything done that I didn't want as I had with my prior dentist. AVOID DENTOLOGIE! firstly, i will say- the offices were clean and everyone was so kind and friendly. If i only had to rate dentalogie on customer service, it would recieve a high rating. But this is a dentist office. Background- i am someone who gets cleanings every 6 months and has family who are hygienist. What happened- my first appointment the dentist told me I needed EVERY filling in my mouth replaced, a crown on a molar, and that they would be fitting me for a night guard. Without space for questions- they began pricing out the cost (which was a huge out of pocket after insurance) if all of this work and set up the next three appointment. I was wary after leaving so found another dentist to get a second opinion. Dentologie sent over bad versions of the xrays to the other dentist, who was also concerned and said NONE of that work was needed And that my teeth snd fillings were in great shape. This is bad dentistry- to set people up for months of appointments and payments that are not needed. read more

My husband and I were both patients here. I've switched dentists, in part because of the billing department, and my husband is almost at that point, as well. The dental care here is great, and the office is gorgeous. I have no qualms with the dentists and hygienists. The billing department, however, is shocking. My husband's claim for Invisalign treatment was submitted incorrectly, and we have been trying for over two years to get it fixed so we can be reimbursed. The treatment cost $3000, and we have been waiting since March 2021 to get back the portion that's covered by his insurance (about $1500). We are owed additional money that we paid upfront for services that ended up being covered by insurance. The billing department is aware of this and said they would work on both the refunds and the insurance issues, but they ghosted us before anything was actually done, and we haven't been able to get a hold of them since. My husband has followed up many times, and has had the Streeterville office prod them many times, and yet we haven't heard from them since their initial response several months ago. read more

This is a delayed update, but after I posted about my experience with billing (back in April), I was reached out to by Dentologie's office Manager (Hillary) apologizing for the billing confusion and explaining where the miscommunication occured; ultimately she offered me a free set of whitening trays for the inconvenience. It took me a few months to actually redeem the offer, but back in October when I finally decided to get a new pair of retainers I had asked if I could use the same molding to also make my whitening trays. I was told it would take a week after the moldings to get my retainers and my whitening trays. After my initial appointment, I came back one week later and they gave me my retainers but were a little confused about the whitening trays when I mentioned them, as they thought I was interested in purchasing them. They had to do some digging in my chart to see the note that mentioned I would be getting whitening trays for free due to the issue previously mentioned, so they had me come back a week after to pick the whitening trays up. Luckily, I didn't live too far from the Dentologie at this point so I didn't mind having to come back the following week (a third time) to get my free whitening trays but it definitely would have been more ideal to get it when it was initially promised. Overall, I appreciate Dentologie's efforts to make amends for my billing issue. I will continue to come here for my dental needs as they have shown me they truly appreciate and take into consideration their patient's experiences. read more

I scheduled an appointment at Dentologie as a new patient. It had been around 3 years since my last dentist appointment (as I had moved to Chicago 3 years prior and had not yet found a dentist yet). The staff was very nice and I was taken back to my chair pretty quickly. The staff took a ton of X-rays and did the standard gum health checks, etc... but never gave me my actual teeth cleaning that I had originally scheduled an appointment for. After all the X-rays and cavity/gum checks, the dentist came in and told me that I needed 2 crowns on my back teeth (that had never bothered me) and needed 5 cavities filled on top of that! I was completely shocked as I had only ever had 1 cavity before around 10 years ago (and I take great care of my teeth). They also told me that I had Gingivitis (this also came as a shock) and that I needed a "special" cleaning that they would do in a different appointment (this would of course cost extra). All of this work would have to happen across 3 different appointments so I didn't get anything filled/cleaned that day (but still got charged $300). I decided to get a second opinion at another dentist where I was told that I had A SINGLE SMALL CAVITY (not 5, and none of my teeth needed crowns) and my gums were in perfect health (zero signs of Gingivitis). I feel VERY taken advantage of by Dentologie as they knew I hadn't seen a dentist in a few years and they had a doctor tell me I needed thousands of dollars in dental work when I only needed one single cavity filled. This is not a case of different approaches/opinions between different dentists, but rather a company taking advantage of a patient to increase their profits. read more

This was my first visit to a Dentologie location and I have nothing but great things to say. I felt welcomed in the office and was promptly taken back for my appointment. Every step was explained to me and the reasoning for each one (I'm big on understanding why). My Dr. was super nice and professional, she asked questions about my dental hygiene and me personally. The cleaning was exactly what I expected - a tad uncomfy but what cleaning is comfortable? I have super sensitive teeth and no point did I feel discomfort or pain and if I needed a break they were very receptive. I have been at the practice years ago when it first opened and hoped that several years later things would have improved. My issue before was with the insurance processing. I found the same procedure for me also billed to my spouse who never had a filling. I was unable to resolve this with the office and so they were paid twice from my insurance for services only performed on me. Strange but it prompted me to move on. Recently my husband made an appointment. I confirmed they were in network with my PPO a month prior and then again confirmed the cleaning appt with reception a few days prior. Day of, upon checking in my husband was turned away saying my insurance was out of network and he can cash pay using their program. He walked home, refused, no cleaning done. This is unbelievable. I call my insurance and they confirm the tax ID and all locations and providers of dentologie are in network. The insurer even calls Dentologie to confirm they are indeed in network but are unable to get through so they leave messages. Receptionist told my husband they don't accept "HSA" even though my insurance card says PPO. They need better staff training on insurance terminology. My husband and I are both healthcare professionals and I am in health insurance. All I can say is, read the yelp reviews carefully before coming. I do not recommend. After giving this place two chances, there are too many red flags to ignore. read more

My first time here as a new patient and the service was great! Very professional. Check in process was quick and the dents hungrier was very thorough in her cleaning. As a new patient I had to get all the initial x-rays done which was time consuming. They have two TV monitors in the exam lane so you can watch TV. The positives first...it was very clean and modern. Lots of newer equipment. And the people were all very friendly. Lots of COVID precautions. I felt safe Now the negatives. I had one of the first appointments of the day. I went in for just a cleaning and x-rays. It took TWO HOURS. I have very healthy teeth. No cavities and no complications. Two freaking hours! Thank goodness I have a flexible work schedule and I wasn't in trouble. But others might not be so lucky on a work day. As I said, I only had a cleaning and I go to the dentist religiously every six months. My mouth was so sore! I was in pain for nearly two days. Whatever they did was just too much. Really enjoyed this practice while I was a student nearby (friendly and diverse staff, easy billing, good bedside manner etc), but have been pretty disappointed by the level of care and attention as a former patient. Low responsiveness and failure to transfer patient records after several requests (emails and phone calls), especially in the midst of a dental problem that I am trying to repair with a new dentist, is really not okay and not the level of care or service I have come to expect from Dentologie. I came in two and a half months ago noting a tooth sensitivity, got my annual X-rays and a cleaning done, and while the sensitive tooth was alright I was told to keep a watch on it. A month or so after this appointment while traveling overseas, the sensitive tooth broke. (This was also after graduating but before my new job, so I didn't have dental insurance). Now, having moved to a new city and having new insurance activated, I am finally able to make an appointment for a new dentist to take a look at the broken tooth. Dentologie has not sent records or X-rays and has not demonstrated any urgency toward making sure the right information gets to my new provider so I can get the care I need. This turn of events makes me feel less like I was a valued patient, and more like I was simply money in the door (and now that I'm not returning, I am less important to their practice). After several calls, emails, a release form, etc., I am writing this review just hours before my next appointment in the hopes that it will catch someone at Dentologie's attention. It strikes me as a failure to their patients to not turn over patient records upon request, especially in the midst of a dental situation requiring urgent care. I am very disappointed with Dentologie Streeterville and hope they will start showing former patients the same level of care as they do when the patients are paying and planning to return. read more

I've been to Dentology for about 5 years every 6 months for cleanings. Never had any issues with my teeth and really enjoyed the atmosphere. I never thought it was a problem, but you see a different dentist every time. It wasn't until this most recent visit where things took a turn. I went in for a sore gum. The dentist cleaned it out and mentioned I had two cavities. She asked me to come back for a full cleaning in which I promptly scheduled. During that next visit I was told I had 4 cavities, all needing fillings!!! The dentist did not take the time to explain where the cavities were, why they would need fillings, or show me the x-rays/photos. I was never told in the past I had any problem areas, ever. Thankfully, I went to another dentist for a second opinion (with highly rated reviews). According to the second opinion, I have one tooth that might need a filling within a couple of years but no teeth needed immediate fillings. Dentilogy was going to charge me and my insurance company over $800 to fill/destroy perfectly good teeth!!!! read more

I have been coming to Dentologie for years (Streeterville & South Loop) that I believe it is about time I write a review. Scheduling your appointment is super easy. You are sent reminder texts and when you call whomever answers is pleasant and helpful. All 'paperwork' is done electronically. I like that. The patient rooms are open concept. There is a TV in front of your chair and then there is a TV on the ceiling for when you are laid back for your exam. I have replaced old silver fillings, teeth cleanings, and a crown done. Each time the team that worked on me was professional, respectful, calming, and genuinely seemed to enjoy working together. Everything is explained prior to anything being done. Xrays are displayed on the screen so you can be shown what is going on. Parking is validated in Streeterville (the garage goes under the building and is accessible from the Illinois and the Grand Street sides). Bike parking is available on the street. My original review was five stars! This was due to the great customer service and clean office. I would recommend Dentologie if you're just getting your teeth cleaned. Here is why I am changing my review: I had a cavity that needed filling. Apparently it was so bad that the dentist said we would need to shave down my tooth and put a cap over it (aka, cover it with a fake tooth). I've had plenty of cavities, a root canal, and even my wisdom teeth removed. Due to my experience, this felt a little off. To say the least, I felt like I needed to get a second opinion AND thank god I did. I went to Strobel dentistry because he has been practicing for nearly 20 years. I did not tell him about Dentologie. He said he could fill the cavity and he did, not problem. He said based on the X-ray, it was definitely deep but he knew there would be no problems based on his experience. I would like to add: not only did my red flags off at Dentologie, it was specifically because of the dentist. He looked very young so I asked him his age, he tried to joke around saying he wasn't young and he just had a baby face. I learned he was 27 and then I was really concerned because he was my age and I'm only 4-5 years post college, which means he is too which means he is fresh out of dental school.....anyways, due to his young age and lack of experience, I did not want to be his experiment for learning how to shave down a tooth and place a cap. Not only did the second opinion save one of my molar teeth's, it also saved me money and I avoided an unnecessary procedure. read more

Do yourself a favor and avoid Akshi Patel & Dentologie at ALL COST! It has been a DISASTROUS experience for my wife - wasting money & time, and causing irreparable damage to her teeth and the anatomy. The biggest problem is Akshi Patel's incompetence & neglect for patients. My wife was recommended to do 2 crowns and had them done in Jan 2022. The temporary crowns had issues and my wife told her that they're causing pain, but she disregarded my wife's concern and moved forward with putting in the permanent crowns. After the crowns were installed, my wife had to suffer for several days due to pain, and even after raising the issue, Akshi Patel didn't even bother to put in a prescription to manage pain. Then Akshi Patel tried to make adjustments to the crowns - which essentially did nothing and my wife is still unable to chew on the left side where the crowns are located. Because we wanted to get a second opinion, my wife made multiple requests to get the images sent over, but it took her over 4-5 weeks to get the response. It's hard to believe how someone who calls herself a dentist could not care less about her patient, and her sole interest has been purely on making excuses and trying to cover her mistakes. Dentologie lures in patients with a great location and the appearance, but please don't be fooled. This organization hires inexperienced young dentists - a lot of them have very little experience practicing, and there seems to be a lot of churn as well so don't expect any continuity in care. Akshi Patel and Dentologie should admit their mistakes and take responsibility of their actions - which they haven't done so far. read more

Ok this place gets at least one star for having offices in four locations. But if you have an emergency, you won't hear from them. They claim that they have 24-hour access but the app doesn't work at all. And when I called the after-hours emergency line the woman assured me that someone would get back to me. I haven't hear a word. In the mean time, I've been able to research other dental offices and find an excellent dentist who will see me first thing tomorrow when Dentalogie, my regular dentist can't be bothered to call me back for an emergency. So I wish I could recommend Dentologie but I'll be changing my dentist first thing in the am. Also if you sort these reviews newest first rather than Yelp sort, you will see that the reviews have gone steadily downhill since this place opened. read more

I needed a new dentist after moving to Chicago, and Dentologie was very close to my apartment. I looked them up first to make sure they accepted my insurance (and to look at the reviews)- all looked good! I got there at the time of my appointment and had already pre-filled my first time paperwork. Easy! I waited a few minutes, then a few more, and more and more patients were going in front of me. It was around 5 PM so I figured it was the after-work rush. After about 20 minutes they could tell I was getting restless, a few receptionists offered me water, apologized, and said they'd check on the status of my chair immediately. Once they came in from the back they again apologized and said they were unexpectedly backed up and it would be about 10 minutes. All good- I know how it can be sometimes. Exactly 10 minutes later the assistant came and got me, asked me about myself and why I was there. It was my first appointment so had to do all the extra steps - all good, they made every so easy. The assistant, hygienist, and dentist were all exceptional. Every single one apologized for the wait and explained what they were doing and why in detail. I felt very comfortable and it gave me the warm and fuzzies! At the end of my appointment, I rebooked for my next 6 month cleaning and they gave me an awesome goodie bag of a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, mouth wash, and a cute tooth lollipop. Love it! And last but not least, the receptionist told me they'd send me a gift card for my wait. I received a $25 Amazon gift card code in my email a few hours after my appointment. I really appreciate the atmosphere and professionalism of the staff at Dentologie. Thanks so much for a good visit! read more

While I feel like there are competent doctors , after see the reviews I feel like there is a practice of unnecessarily "deep cleaning " and I never got an actual cleaning which is insane to me. While the doctors seems very competent and the staff were very nice , I'm not 100% sure how much they care about the patients vs. how much money they can bring in for the day. As a student I wasn't expecting to have a high cost for cleaning for my teeth using up most of my deductible. After leaving I did feel like I should get a second opinion cause some of the stuff just sounded a little off. I go to the dentist 2x a year and very high end dentist in NYC and I've never had problems like the ones they bring up. Also for this high cost they should atleast offer you a take home tooth brush, toothpaste and floss. It's pretty on the outside not so pretty in the inside. Went here for 2 years and had two fillings placed with some minor, expected complications that were quickly taken care of. One of my fillings cracked and I was told they could make a same day, permanent crown. After getting the crown I couldn't eat without biting the inside of my cheek and had excruciating pain. Contacted the dentist who said everything was fine and the crown was fine. Got a second, third, and fourth opinion from another dentist and two relatives who are dentists who all said the crown is several millimeters too large and that I now have a cross bite. Had the crown slightly shaved down without relief. Now I'm out $1200 and still have excruciating pain which the dentist at dentologie said is probably "random severe nerve pain." Have never posted a negative review before but this has been a horrible experience. read more

UPDATE: Dropped from 5 stars to 3 stars. Dr. Fairs told me I need to have a (bedtime) mouth guard. It was redone/refit 3 times and I returned for three separate visits. After being told I'd be compensated for my time with a whitening service and an extra mouth guard for all the inconveniences, I received no extra mouth guard and was told I needed to come back in again to get a whitening gel to take home and not a whitening service. I have always LOVED going to the dentist and never understood why so many complained of it. I now understand those people must be going to places like Dentologie. Due to COVID travel restrictions, I had to go to Dentologie a few months ago instead of my life long dentist at home. I have never had any issues at the dentist. At the time, I was having slight pain in the tooth and wanted to get it checked to be safe...since i've never had any issues, and wanted to keep it that way. They told me I needed a crown put on. The experience itself was terrible. They are not remotely gentle. My mouth was held wide open for hours. When they were trying to "floss away" some of the glue on the outside of my teeth, the hygienist braced her body weight with one hand on my face. It was a painful, traumatizing experience. (Also, they never got the glue) I was still having pain a few weeks later and my retainers no longer fit (so they did a bad job taking the mold to begin with). They confirmed there were no root issues; it was just pain from the bite not being the same as before. 5+ months later, and I am still in pain (much worse than the pain I was experiencing before the crown) AND my previously straight teeth now have noticeable gaps in them. There is also a big gap between the crown and my other teeth, so they did not fit it well at all. I am so upset due to the pain I've never had with my teeth before and the gaps in my teeth (which were straightened with braces when younger). positives: the women at the front desk were very nice. Definitely a for-profit business that is constantly trying to upsell you on procedures that are not actually necessary. Believe the reviews that describe people getting second opinions and told that the procedures recommended by Dentologie are truly unnecessary. The medical field should not be hampered by people just try to pad their pockets. Be truthful and only do what's absolutely necessary. SMH it's a shame these profiteering dentists exist. read more

0 stars. They took over 30 minutes taking x-rays. Gave me this long talk about what they thought my teeth needed. It all sounded like a bunch of dollar signs. They NEVER got to the teeth cleaning I was actually scheduled for. Then said they were out of time. They make you sign something saying that if you get those procedures, then you'll have to pay the insane price. That's ONLY if you actually get procedures done.
