Atmosphere & Performance This was The Notebook The Musical so it is different from the book and the movie. I would say the musical leans more toward a romantic comedy especially compared to the movie and you will definitely notice the differences. That said I still think The Notebook musical is great. I really enjoyed it and it absolutely still has those tearjerker moments. The cast was awesome and everyone sang so beautifully. The performances felt genuine and emotional and the atmosphere in the theater really helped pull everything together. Customer Service Customer service was amazing. Everyone was super friendly helpful and accommodating from the moment we arrived. As soon as I checked in they noticed I was a lottery ticket winner and congratulated me which was really sweet and unexpected. I did not need that but it was still a very thoughtful touch. Staff showed us where to go and once we got closer to our seating area another staff member walked us directly to our seats. Overall everyone was welcoming and made the experience feel smooth and stress free. Pricing & Parking I got my tickets through Lucky Seats. Which is a lottery-style system for discounted tickets. We won two tickets for a total of $78 and our seats were very close to the stage with a great view. Discounted tickets made the experience even better. Parking at DCPA was $17, and they only accept card payments. Parking was convenient, with several nearby options, and it did not feel overwhelming getting in or out. Food & Drinks For food and drinks I paid twenty two dollars total not including tip. I got one Sprite one bottled Sprite one bottle of Coca Cola and a pack of gummy bears. I understand it is for a great cause and supports DCPA but it is a bit pricey. If you need to sneak in your own snacks do what you gotta do. Overall Experience My overall experience was honestly perfect. The performance was amazing the seats were great and the entire night was so much fun. I would absolutely go back again and highly recommend checking out DCPA and one of their shows. read more

If you get a chance, Catrinas en Mi Ciudad is a free exhibit running 10/4 to 11/02 in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Complex. Beautiful art adorns the hall. Giant sugar skulls (calaveras), catrinas, and other colorful statues pay homage to Day of the Dead. Ricardo Soltero and other artwork from Mexico City and Colorado Latino artists are featured. What a pleasant surprise & Juliet was!! I got tickets for my husband and I for date night and I had no idea what to expect. For a change, I didn't read reviews or watch many trailers or videos I just bought tickets! We love DCPA but it's been a bit since we were there last ( Christmas Eve to be precise) and I am always smiling when I go in and feeling some strong emotions when I leave depending on the show. I 10/10 recommend & Juliet if you aren't afraid of strong women, Love for All, humanity and hope! I haven't laughed this hard in a long time! Acting and music is fabulous!! I went to see the play "The Happiest Man on Earth" this week (an excellent production) at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts. The Denver Center complex is one of the best in the nation. I love seeing a play or a musical in this complex. There are so many different ways to see theater - in the round, a traditional black box theatre or a huge theatre such as the Buell. They have made it very easy to access tickets - you can download the tickets to your Apple Wallet and the bar code will populate several hours before the show. The ticket is then scanned by the usher. No more waiting in lines at will call! There is not a bad seat in the smaller theaters where the Denver Center productions (rather than the Broadway touring productions) take place. The play I saw was in The Singleton Theatre. It is located downstairs and is a small 200 seat venue. I have seen 2 different one-person plays in that theater. It is an intimate venue. There is an elevator for people who are not able to walk down the stairs. Since I like to collect the programs, I am happy that they still hand out programs instead of having a QR code where you can access the program. The ushers are helpful in directing you to your seats. There was a bar close to the theater. There was also an area where you can purchase drinks and food right by the front doors to the theater complex. There is a small area with tables and chairs. The outside area was decorated with beautiful Day of the Dead artwork. It's the first time I have seen it decorated in that motif. It added an even more festive atmosphere to the location. If you are looking to get discount tickets, there are several times during the year where there are DCPAccess sales. We paid only $25 per ticket (this included taxes and fees) for the show we attended this week. That is a huge savings from the regular price. They offer both Denver Center shows and Broadway touring shows at discount rates. The next discount sale takes place on November 4, 2025. I would say the one negative to attending productions at the Denver Center is the parking. While it is easy to find a parking space at the Denver Center Theatre garage, the prices have gone sky high. The price was $17 and that wasn't even a weekend price! read more

DCPA has many components: - the Boettcher Concert Hall (round theater and home of the Denver Symphony) - the Ellie Caulkins Opera House (formerly the Auditorium Theatre) - the Helen G. Bonfils Theater Complex - a huge parking garage with restaurants, bars and the recently relocated Dazzle Jazz Club. We enjoy all of the entertainment venues. Fortunately, we are close by and walk vs drive and park. Yet, the parking garage is awesome. We particularly enjoy the plays at the theaters in the Helen G. Bonfils Theater Complex. Writing this for the parking garage. This parking garage is for the entire performing arts center. So it doesn't matter what theater your going to, or just going downtown, there will be PLENTY of parking. This garage is HUGE! It varies on price depending on the show and time you enter the garage. One time it was $20 and just recently it was $15. Good price in my opinion. You could get a little lost so remember what level you parked on and what general area (closet to the street, close to the theaters, etc.). Also might help if you remember where you entered and then you could always back track. The credit card machine takes a picture of your license plate so it should be a quicker way for you to exit come time. I would suggest backing into a parking spot so when it comes time to leave you can pull out and merge into the line to exit the garage. I've seen people struggle to backout of spots. Over all it's a huge parking garage and I think it's a good price if you will be downtown for a while. read more

Many different performance venues here with something for everyone. So far I've been to Ellie Caulkins, Boettcher, and the Buell. All are maintained very well and there is a bar or two in the performing arts center outside these venues. Additionally there is convenient parking in the garage and many places to eat and drink nearby. Great place to go see a show. read more

Saturday I went to the matinee to see the hot wing King at the killstrom theater. It was absolutely marvelous and runs through May 25th go go the the story is written by katori Hall and directed by Timothy Douglas the cast was marvelous. I had one discounted seats so I was seated up in the mezzanine / balcony and a theater guide approached me and asked me if I wanted to sit closer and I said yes and oh my gosh I got taken down to a seat that was in the second row on the main floor I mean I was like two or three feet from some of the actors at times it was really a gold rush. The first half of the play was an hour and a half and then we had intermission and then the second half went for an hour and the storyline all the characters were vibrant and had a real meaning about life experiences and being black and gay down in Memphis Tennessee I do believe katori Hall won a top prize for this presentation go go don't miss it! read more

I came downtown with friends by Lyft - Black car for only $21 + tip. Easy check-in and breezed thru security. Major good surprise, hot water in the rest room faucets. People were not stressed. I saw only a few persons wearing a mask. We sat in Orchestra 2 near the back and were slightly off center, so perfect view of stage. Tina, The Musical followed Tina Turner's life from her birthplace in Nutbush, Tennessee to St Louis, then London, England and back to the U.S. Virtually every song that Ike Turner and songs she had created for her were sung. In most cases, the actor/singer was spot on. There was an 18 minute intermission between Acts 1 & 2. Act 2 was her top hits. A very enjoyable performance. read more

DCPA produces terrific theatre. We've had season tickets for several years and drive down from northern Colorado to see the shows. Quality theatre from every aspect - variety, set design, terrific acting. We closed out this season with 39 Steps. What a fantastic show! I love the stunning setting of this venue looking toward the gorgeous mountains! Beautiful if you have time before the show to hang out and relax with a drink. The individual theaters also provide an incredible theatre experience. My favorite is The Kilstrom Theatre (it's a theatre in the round). Basically, I hate the drive down I-25, but the experience is always worth it! read more

We went to the Wolf to see Hamlet and the presentation was superb. The set was minimal allowing you to focus on the presentation. The costumes were spot on perfect building on the performance and allowing you to travel back in time to whitness this story delivered by the likes of Ty Fanning (Hamlet) and the rest of the ensemble. As for the Center itself, the Staff is totally focused on ensuring you have the best time possible. This is a great venue for Broadway shows and musicals. I've sat in a lot of different sections and each section provided a pretty great view of the show. I didn't feel like anything was cut off or I missed something. The venue is clean and there are plenty of seats and outdoor balcony's to chill at before the show begins. Parking was $10 when I was here and it's very convenient to park my car and have the parking lot be connected to the performance arts venues. Food and drinks are pricey but that's expected and not all that shocking. read more

I had a wonderful introduction to the Wolf Theater at DPAC to see their production of A Little Night Music. The blocks and blocks of venues, and little nooks for food as well as ample public art and views can be confusing, but there are many friendly folks around to help you find your way (as well as help Lauren Boebert find her way OUT last week). The theater was intimate as befitting the production, and it was one of the most comfortable spaces I have ever visited, and the ONLY one to leave a personalized note of welcome on my seat! Visit this center whenever you can! It's terrific! And if you're a Sondheim fan, see this show. If you're a fan of strong vocals, see this show. And if you've lost complete and total faith in true love, see this show. read more

The quality of service here has gone progressively downhill. We are subscribers to the Broadway musical series. The DCPA tells you that it is easy to exchange your tickets. Don't believe them. We left multiple messages for their ticketing office over numerous days, and they never called back. We emailed them. No response. It can be overwhelming how many venues of various shapes and sizes are crammed into this block. Luckily, on show nights, there are always people around to direct you to the right place, and the whole thing is covered. (On non-show nights, walking through here can feel like a wasteland of giant concrete emptiness.) Big, small, or in between, the venues are impressive, well suited for their purposes, with comfortable seating and good sight lines. Productions are great and varied; I've seen way more Denver Center Theater Company than the big touring shows. read more

I've quickly become a regular patron of the DCPA over the last two years. I'm a student studying musical theatre, so part of my own studying is going to different performances around town, including Broadway touring shows when they pass through. When I first started going, the accessibility seemed a little challenging, and they even started putting me in seating areas that my descriptive audio devices wouldn't work well in. However, once I connected with their access coordinator Danielle, things have gone much better. With her help, I'm able to get seats where I can be close to the stage (so I can try to use the vision I have left to enjoy what I can?"), and where descriptive audio will never be an issue. She's also gotten me discounts and additional benefits after bringing some other issues to her attention, which has made me feel like the staff listens to customer feedback and takes it pretty seriously. Each of their spaces is pretty nice, especially the Buell Theatre and Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The only one I'm not a *huge* fan of is the Kilstrom, but maybe that's because I sat in a weird area. Ushers usually tend to be pretty helpful, but I always try to know who the accessibility liaison for each performance is in case I do have issues. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied by the DCPA, and strongly recommend going to see some shows here, especially to support live local theatre. You likely won't be disappointed. read more

I spent $415.00 on 2 tickets to Mean Girls for a friend's bday present. Started the celebration with the DCPA $15.00 cocktails. We left at intermission. The sound quality was horrendous. We had Orchestra seats! We couldn't understand the dialogue due to the muffled sound system. I reported to DCPA , that this was my first bad experience. Their response was we will let the show know. It is not our sound system, they use their own." Very unhappy that they gladly take your money for what should be good seats, but they don't stand behind the product they are putting out. Love this setup. So many theaters of different sizes in one location in the heart of Denver. Many upscale and/ or trendy restaurants in walking distance to be able to enjoy a pre show dinner. This was our first time to see a performance here, though we visit our close family in Denver at least twice a year. We saw Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" and were amazed! The actors and the stunning theatrical effects made this feel ever bit as professional as shows I've seen on Broadway. We've seen so much wonderful theater, dance, and music here over the years! This review is more about navigating the center than any specific performance. Key tips: 1. Many popular shows sell out well in advance. Check out the various websites (Denver Center Theater Company, Broadway shows, Colorado Ballet, Colorado symphony, Opera Colorado, and so on), and follow the ones you're interested in on social media so you get advance alerts when tickets go on sale. 2. Don't let a parking crisis invade your evening. Best strategy is to ride share or use RTD. If you drive, go early, park in the DCPA garage, and enjoy dinner before your show at one of the many restaurants that are within a five to ten minute walk. 3. If you do arrive later and the parking garage is full, our best last-minute backups are the Writer's Square underground parking (15th and Larimer), and the Tabor Center underground parking (between 16th and 17th on Lawrence). Both seem to always have spots and it only takes 5-10 minutes to get from the garage to the theater, which beats frantically searching for a spot in one of the surface lots in the area. 4. Plan your restroom stops. Not much worse than squirming your way through a 50 minute first act because you didn't have time to find the restroom. The Ellie Caulkins theater and the Buell theater, in particular, do not have enough restroom capacity for the crowd size, so allow a few extra minutes to stand in line for the restroom before you find your seats. At intermission, rush to get in line for the restroom, otherwise you'll still be in line when the ushers start urging patrons to go back to their seats. read more

I did not know what to expect, and I didn't expect what I saw! This place was humongous and it is an open center with many buildings for different stages for different plays and performances going on at one time. The building that we went to was for a play. It was fairly small and very cozy between chairs and tables. There was a bar at the entrance where guests may purchase beverages while waiting for the show to start. During the show someone walked around taking drink orders. The center was definitely very well lit and clean. I like the vbe of it being an open air center instead of it being in an enclosed building. I would definitely recommend all visitors to visit this center and watch a show. read more

Went to see "Goodnight Moon" with my nieces and sister. Organization and staff were friendly and attentive. The entrance thought was difficult. We had to climb up Several steep stairs to get even to the ticket booth, and my 2 1/2 year old niece was not a happy camper. The restrooms were in need of some attention. read more

Having moved to Denver in late 2015, I've had a handful experiences at DCPA and it's definitely got its charm. Going to see a show here is an occasion, where one can get dressed up and explore downtown before/after. Not to mention the live music acts after your performance lets out for the night. Most recently I saw Dear Evan Hansen, which started its national tour in Denver. Prior to that I'd seen Hamilton, Beautiful, the Carole King, musical, a live recording of "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me", and David Sedaris' The Santaland Diaries. Seats aren't too tiny, but even a medium sized lady bottom like mine feels a wee bit squished within. Perhaps it's because I'm going to popular shows that have a packed audience? Probably the biggest downfall to attending a show at DCPA is their parking lot. For as big as it is, they can't accommodate a ton of cars. Plus, getting out of the garage after a show is a nightmare. You could be stuck for another 45+ minutes... It'll be interesting to see how this performing arts center is remodeled in the years to come, with a new parking structure and all. In the meantime, I quite enjoy being a theater-goer and continue to support the arts community here in Mile High. read more

DCPA customer service is rude & dismissive (when you can get someone to answer). This applies to the operator & ticket sales. This was not always the case. They used to be professional & very pleasant. Like others I've read here, I was not able to get a credit for $700+. Instead it was taken as a donation. We were out of the country & unreachable during the timeframe they wanted the credit used by. They gave us zero consideration & offered a receipt so we could take a tax refund (lol, huge consolation). They must be desperate to resort to these measures. We've had 3 season tickets for several years now but will not renew. read more

I love this place! There is always so many shows that you can choose to go to. I've never attended one bad show here so far. I've attended some big shows and small shows and they've been outstanding. My latest show I went and saw was the sequel to Phantom of the Opera this past Saturday! It was sad, magical, amazing, outstanding, incredible, and well worth it! I really liked my seats. The place is always well maintained. Beverages and snacks can get a little pricey, but that is expected when you attend something like this. Also, once you make a purchase, there are no refunds! So have a back up person to attend with you if you have no date! Lol Can't wait to come back and see more shows. read more

We've been a big fan of the DCPA, ticket holders for 20 + seasons and somethings changed. Your Customer service has gone downhill drastically. Difficult to get a refund or change tickets and I would not recommend using the DCPA, until management improves their customer service. For example, we had a show we couldn't attend this year and they would not let me apply that credit for next year's purchase of season tickets. We were forced to take an additional show that I really didn't have the time or the need to see. We did not complain during the two years that they had our funds during the Covid shutdown which was payment for season tickets. I still haven't received my refund ($144) for not seeing 2 productions. ALSO season ticket prices went up over 30% from the previous year. So there are lots of choices in this area too find good entertainment and we're dropping our season ticket for the DCPA. read more

To me DCPA is a jewel. The collection of theatres in the center go from tiny club feel (Garner) to formal & grand (Buell). Since the updating of The Auditorium (now the Ellie), there isn't really a bad place to see a show in the bunch. I personally like the Space Theatre's rounder design and the Buell for seeing a show. Although, the Ellie has outstanding comfy seats - complete with LCD tiny screen translators on the seat in front of you if you are at the opera and have no idea what they are saying! Or when I went to the Nutcracker a few years back they gave plot points and facts on it. Nice! Parking is a cinch too. The large covered structure attached to the theatre complex is easy to get in and out of and always well maintained. I know I used it as my go-to parking spot when I do most stuff downtown. All and all it is one of the best parts of Denver!!! Go see a show and see :) read more
