When we received it back, there was a large burn mark where the stain used to be. They completely ruined his jacket, which has to now be completely replaced. Dependable Cleaners took no responsibility in the burn mark and offered no financial assistance to us. Also - the owner always has a sour look on her face. Extremely poor service. read more

Holy crap, 2x the price of NEW YORK CITY dry cleaners. Yeah, they do a good job but $85 for 8 shirts and 2 slacks?!?!! Yeah, never coming back here again. I have a beautiful Anthropologie quilt that requires dry cleaning. I took it in, and specified that it needed to be dry cleaned (as it states clearly on the label). When it came back to me, all of the filling was in gigantic lumps and it no longer has the texture of a quilt. I'm not going to sleep under it, and I'm not going to have guests sleep under it either. It seems as though the quilt was washed rather than dry cleaned (I know from experience, because I had accidentally washed the pillow shams in the set and was met with the same lumpy effect). So this appears to be an honest mistake, and that's fine. What's not okay is that the person who returned it to me did not mention anything about a mistake and did not mention the lumpy interior. In addition, the receipt said "lumpy when received" which was a lie. I had aired the quilt out the day before taking it to Dependable Cleaners and it had been in great condition at that time. I don't mind that people make mistakes. I do mind dishonesty and I was really disappointed that Dependable Cleaners didn't handle this situation better. read more

By far the worst dry cleaning location in Colorado. Picked up my clothing covered in lint and with all the original stains. Company said they were too busy to spend the necessary time cleaning my articles of clothing. Manger was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. Let me sum up about 70% of the negative reviews for you all who are trying to get a perspective on DC: "I give my clothes to the cleaners before checking the price of the service." Yeah, DC is expensive. But it's dependable. Exceptionally Dependable. Which I guess is why it's called Dependable Cleaners instead of Inexpensive Cleaners of Questionable Quality. You can take your clothes here before ~9am and get them done by closing time THAT DAY. Good luck finding that kind of service elsewhere (especially in Boulder, where they need a couple of days to extract whatever patchouli oil they use to clean your shirt--looking at you, Art Cleaners). If you want to pay less, go elsewhere. If you want to lower your carbon footprint, go elsewhere. If you want hasty service and quality, go elsewhere. If you want alterations, go to a tailor. HIGHWAY ROBBERY. ZERO STARS. I dropped off 5 items with DC last week for the first time. Was surprised that they didn't itemize each and include pricing in the drop off ticket but didn't think much about it....until I picked my clothes up last night. I was expected my bill to be $40, maybe $50. But they charged me $75. I have never heard of prices this exorbitant - not even in New York City or Miami when I lived there. I balked to the woman on duty and she didn't say anything. She just had a rude smirk on her face. When I asked why pricing wasn't clarified at drop off - particularly to a new customer - she just pointed to a small sign near the register that listed prices. No apologies. No compassion. I worked here for two months and also used their dry cleaning services. They have horrible customer service and will give you the highest prices they can for your clothes. Your shirt is 2% cotton and 98% polyester? They will charge you an extra 2 dollars for it being 2% cotton. They lose items all the time and if you bring your laundry there they won't even separate lights from darks. Horrible!!!! Do not go there, the manager is snarky and has had many incidents where she goes ballistic on employees and customers. I used this dry cleaner for several months, as it is the most conveniently located to my house, but after the experiences I had this week, I will never go back. I took two silk blouses in to be cleaned. When I came back to get them, one of the tops had new, oil-looking stains when it only had a tiny spot when I dropped it off. Of course, I said so to the guy ringing me up, and he basically said it wasn't his fault cause he wasn't there. I had to tell him that I expected them to re-clean the top, which should have been a given considering it was much dirtier than when I left it there, and he still charged me for the cleaning. Not only was he rude, he was completely disgusting- definitely not someone I wanted handling the few expensive pieces of clothing I have. Long, dirty fingernails, greasy looking hair- it was not pleasant. I returned to pick up my clothes when they said they would be ready and got to the store at 7:01, when they close at 7pm. I knocked, and the same rude, gross employee was standing near the door and pretended not to see me for a few minutes until he finally looked at me and gave me a curt signal that he would not be letting me in. When I came back the next morning to try again, the man in front of me there to pick up pants was dealing with the fact that they couldn't find them, and when I finally got my top back, the stains that they created were diminished, but still there. I told them I would be taking it to another dry cleaner and would not be coming back. I have so far been very happy with my service at DC. The front desk girl is very sweet. It is (I think) $3.30 for a laundered, high-starch dress shirt. Expensive, yes, but that is with a 6 hour turn-around! I drop off my husband's things before work and pick them up on the way home, very convenient. Oh, and they always return my rogue collar stays. I took a handful of shirts and a suit there to get cleaned; it was easily the most expensive cleaners that I've ever been to. Even with a $25 off coupon, I felt like I paid a bit more than I would have elsewhere. Beyond the price, the quality seemed to be significantly lacking. There were additional creases pressed into a few shirts, some items were visibly wrinkled, and there were even extra stains. It was nice that they were an environmentally friendly company, but in Boulder that shouldn't bee too difficult to come by in a dry cleaner. All in all, there are probably better options for cleaners out there - such as any other option. read more

STAY AWAY! *** RIP-OFF ALERT *** I dropped off a bag of laundry here because our washer and dryer are swimming in the basement post boulder flood. When I came back to pick it up, I was told that it would cost nearly $50 dollars!!! $50 dollars for a small bag of laundry? If I had known up front, then I definitely would have taken my business elsewhere, but the price was not listed on my receipt or posted anywhere visible. The snarky manager explained to me that I needed to ask in advance what it would cost, and hid my laundry behind the counter until I paid their ridiculous price. This is almost BBB complaint worthy in my opinion. They will either change their way of doing business or go under very soon. I love this place. My skirts and white shirts are as clean and crisp as could be. The people are always kind and helpful. They may cost more, but they do the best job on my dry cleaning I have ever had in Boulder. I have lived here for 25 years and used numerous other places. This drycleaner is close to work, and one morning, when I was in a hurry, I decided to give them a shot. I was initially pretty excited. The young lady at the counter was extremely friendly and professional. She asked all the correct questions, and I got out of there quickly. While I was in a rush to drop off the clothes, I didn't actually need them for another four days, but I was told they'd be ready at 5:30 that afternoon. Apparently that's standard. I picked up my clothes the next morning--two military pants, and three military shirts (two short sleeves with military creases, one long sleeve). $45 dollars! Wait. What? I thought the clerk had simply made a mistake. FORTY-FIVE DOLLARS! To provide context, historically I pay six dollars per uniform, and five dollars for each extra shirt. That's eleven dollars for this order. I understand that Boulder is more expensive than my traditional home in Coronado, CA, and that I'll pay a little more here. However, I think Art Cleaners on Baseline charged me $18 for a similar cleaning in the Spring. Forty-five dollars for three shirts (I'd even removed the buttons on the long sleeve, to make it easy for them). To my way of thinking, $25 would have been on the high side. $45 exceeds outrageous. Obviously I won't be back. EDIT: Oops, I made a mistake. I just inventoried my order, and it's even worse than I thought. I only submitted ONE pair of pants and three shirts. That's right folks. Dependable cleaners of Boulder Colorado disguises itself as an upscale dry cleaning and Laundromat with their "VIP" perks (you pay them to join) and curb side delivery (you are approximately 2.85 steps from the door, getting out is not a hassle), but the reality is this place is non-functional. My "VIP" boyfriend and I dropped off 3 items to dry clean this weekend with next day service (we never received our $20 discount for becoming members). When we returned the next day, the boy working the front desk was unable to locate our clothing and apologized as it was his 3rd day on the job. The items were urgent for Monday meetings, however, it was only Saturday so we figured we'd try again Sunday. I was a little nervous as the combination of our 3 items totaled over $1000, but hey they didn't call this dependable for nothing. When we returned on Sunday the young woman wasn't able to locate our clothing for the first 24 minutes.. but finally after realizing their sorting system wasn't filed appropriately she located our clothing...a Theory dress, a Splendid blouse, and a Calvin Klein Suite. She also informed us that Saturday's boy had been with the store for 3 weeks, not 3 days...it's clear burn out CU students don't know how to file books at the library, aka clothing at the Laundromat. To make things worse, after unpacking the clothing I got dry cleaned for an upcoming business trip, it was apparent that the dry clean job was the MOST unprofessional and CARELESS job ever to be performed. One of the items happened to be a navy blue Theory pleated dress... well ladies and gentleman, why are pleats pleated? BEWARE!!! I would leave zero stars if it were allowed!!!! Twice now i have taken items to Dependable on Arapahoe and both times they royally messed up. The first time it was my trench coat. I asked them to re sew a couple of buttons. I quickly picked up my item on the way to the airport only to find at the airport that they had sewed the buttons in the wrong spot and two popped off within a day. ALSO, they forgot to give me back my coat waist tie - most trench coats look ridiculous without this key item!!! I called and they said they could not find it and they would call me tomorrow when a certain person returned. BIG SURPRISE - they never called. I called them when i got back from my trip and luckily it had turned up. A couple of months later i brought 7 items to them once again - thinking i would give them the benefit of the doubt. Once again they have failed tremendously to actually do what they are charging SOOO much for. I had brought to their attention 3 stains on 3 different shirts when i dropped off. When i went to pick them up today all three shirts look like they had not been touched and all three stains were still there. And one of my silk shirts had 3 NEW STAINS!!! Not to mention they charged me $90 for 7 items - this is sooo insanely over priced. I think this Dependable Cleaners needs to be reported to the BBB and I am looking into this right now. Dependable Cleaners is dependable and as other reviews have written, not cheap. Unfortunately using their services is going to cost an arm and a leg but I had some patching done here and it turned out great. Would get higher stars but unfortunately their pricing is hard to justify endless its for patch work. I've had pretty good customer service when I have visited nothing worth writing home about and nothing worth writing negatively about in a Yelp review. DO NOT GO HERE. Besides the fact they are incredibly over priced, they are rude, a rip off and they suck at their job. I took in an extremely expensive snow coat and they told me it would be 20 dollars they ended up charging me 10 extra dollars because it was down and $5.00 because the hood was detachable. I had brought the coat in to ask before what the price would be so this is ridiculous then to top it off I get the coat and they completely shrunk it. the sleeves are too short and my boobs barely fit in it without them busting open the zipper. When i went back to tell them how they overcharged me and shrunk it the manager was not even kind of helpful, didn't offer any compensation and to be quite honest rude. SO don't go here unless you want you clothes to be shrunk while paying a crap ton for it, because they definitely are not DEPENDABLE. read more

Visiting for the summer from Texas, I left four shirts and one pair of khaki cotton pants to be laundered with light starch with Dependable Cleaners because of its convenience to Larkburger next door (an exceptionally good bacon cheddar hamburger, by the way) where I planned to lunch. I had read Yelp reviews suggesting that Dependable has "great prices" and accordingly was taken back when I picked up my laundry a few days later. I don't know what planet the prior reviewers live on, but $14 to launder an ordinary pair of khakis and $5 each to launder shirts is not 'great prices' . . . Boulder prices perhaps, but more than twice what I customarily pay at home! I jokingly suggested to the (very courteous) attendant when I asked is she were sure about the accuracy of the $35+ charge that the business name should perhaps be changed to Dependable But Pricey Cleaners. read more

What a gong show- I really tried with this place because they are near my home and they offered a VIP program which sounded appealing- The VIP program is a joke- the $10 I paid upfront was NEVER returned as promised for serivces despite 3 different conversations with the manager and 4 drop offs since I paid- really? The prices are high as other posters have said- which would be understandable if the service was high quality- but I just got back a skirt now missing a button- seriously??? I've never been to a dry cleaners that doesn't know how to properly press dress shirts - three trips to this place just to try to get them to iron my collar and cuffs correctly, e.g. stiff and straight, not creased at weird angles. Three tries for them on one shirt and it still doesn't look great. I'll never go back here; if they can't handling ironing, I'm not going to trust them with anything else. read more

They gave me someone else's clothes and when I asked to receive my order that's when they informed me that they 'lost' our clothing. I liked the Dependable Cleaners in Denver but since using the Boulder location over the past several months I have not been impressed with the level of customer service (I disagree with the other reviews as I never had a great customer service experience) and now they literally lost our clothes. On Friday 2/8/2013 I called this Dependable Cleaners location in Boulder. I asked them about weekend cleaning service and their employee told me to have my items in before 10 am the following day. On Saturday 2/9/2013 I arrived at 9:44am to drop my suit off. Within 2 minutes someone was writing up a ticket for a 2 piece suit I needed cleaned. He informed me that my suit would be ready the following day and that their location closed at 4pm on that day. On Sunday 2/10/2013 I arrived around noon to pick up my suit. After handing over my ticket I was informed that my suit was not ready and that it would not be ready until Monday at 5:30pm. I was shocked. Their employee told me that items not dropped off before 10am would not be ready. I told her my side of the story and she just shrugged her shoulders. I had to repeat myself 3 times in order for her to begin looking for my suit. When she found it, it was inside out, in a ball, hairy and wrinkly. Far dirtier than when I dropped it off. She offered no apology which just made the situation, to me, worse. I asked for her managers name, her name, and the name of the employee I spoke with the previous day. She told me she couldnt give out any information and she put a business card on the counter for "Jessica H." I told her that I would probably be contacting the BBB. Throughout the entire series of events I was never rude, loud, etc. Even when I had to repeat myself 3 times to get the lady to look for my suit, I never raised my voice. My mouth was open most of the time, and was as I am now, just shocked at the lousy customer service I have experienced with Dependable Cleaners. read more
