The only thing dependable about a maytag appliance in my experience is it's going to break and pretty quickly!! 10 year Warranty lolol on parts that aren't generally the problem. Everything else will break first.that 10 year warranty is to sucker you in. read more

Reading the reviews, it seems many folks have the same problem I have. A store that offers repairs, but when it comes to actually repairing your appliance and honoring the manufacturer warranty, you're on your own. I was on my own without my $800 washing machine which was under a year old and under manufacturer's warranty for 3 weeks. Rick was trying to find every excuse as to why he wouldn't fix my machine, from blaming me for abuse , to a dirty machine (it had some soap buildup in the tub) to conditions of my home. Apparently he's allergic to dog hair. Sorry, I have dogs, as do many people I know. It's kinda a thing. I cleaned my laundry room before he came by. To give him some credit, he did fix the lid switch under warranty when it broke after owning it for only 3 months. This time was different though. I had to spend tons of money at the laundromat to wash my clothes while waiting for a repair. I won't hold my breath as far as receiving any restitution from Maytag. Diamond Repair was able to fix my machine in the end (faulty capacitor) and was in and out of my home in a half an hour. Thanks to them, no thanks to Rick and Dependable Maytag. I will be taking my future business elsewhere. read more

Well I can now comment on the service department at Dependable Maytag. Our week old dryer started making strange noises. We made an appointment. The service tech (Tony) arrived on time. Turns out it was the motor. He said he has had to replace several of this type motor. Tony was clean, efficient and personable. Note to Whirlpool (owners of Maytag): Find a different supplier for motors. It doesn't give the brand a good reputation when the appliance needs major repairs after one week. So the rating is for a combination of the product (1 star) and the service department (4 stars). read more

Purchased a washer. Owner was sales guy, pleasant and informative. Washer was $100 more than costco, but owner said it qualified for $50 rebate from comed. Since I didn't even think of the rebate, and would rather support local businesses - i bought it from them. Installation was $69 without hoses, $109 with good hoses, Washer (maytag MVWB865GW) was $730 base, tax out the door with installation was $860 (ill buy my own hoses) so $810 with the comed rebate (read on). Costco was $699 installed with hoses. So, it was more expensive for me to buy from them, but installation date was better and, again, local business so ill pay the $110 extra. Well, the washer was miss-stickered in the store and does not qualify as an energy star washer, hence no rebate. I figured it was an honest mistake, but I am not willing to pay $160+ more than costco - so I went back to the store to return the washer. I didn't ask for a discount, figured they would offer it if they wanted my business. Owner not there - instead I it was a blond lady (wife/sister of owner perhaps?). I pleasantly explained that the comed rebate does not apply on this washer as stickered, and costco had it for significantly less so I would like to return it (it was not delivered and not scheduled for delivery for another three days). She looked at the receipt and say since I lived in naperville, i dont have comed. I explained that I live in unincorporated naperville, I do have comed, I applied for the rebate since I had the receipt, it was denied as it wasnt an energy star washer. I further explained that maytag's site has the energy rating that shows its not energy star. I told her what costco had it at. She argued that since comeds site lists the washer, it has the rebate. I again explained that I talked to them and that is not the case - they have all the common brands of washers on the site regardless if they are energy star or not. I informed her if she wanted to look at maytags site - it will show it is not energy star rated. She interrupted me multiple times - saying "can I finish talking" (I didnt interrupt her), explained that does qualify. I stated Ill just buy it at costco as I believe she is incorrect. She asked the price, then stated I "must have had too much coffee this AM" to me. I didnt understand that comment and thought it to be rude. I told her it was $699 delivered with hoses. She said, "well we are not going to deliver it for free". I said, I dont expect you will - nor does costco (im sure they pay their delivery service). She rang up the return, put the receipt on the counter and said - "they dont know nothing about installation. good luck with that", then turned around and walked away. Again, I was pleasant the entire time dont understand that rudeness. I was going to point out that her statement was a double negative, which actually meant they do know something - but decided to remain pleasant and left. read more

I have been a customer of Dependable Maytag for 22 years and i am hear to say that they no longer are Dependable. I have experienced them to be less than helpful when something goes wrong. There is always an excuse, such as, "they don't make them like they used to." REALLY!!!! Any time there has been a problem they have continually attempted to turn the problem around on me. I always support small business but this time I will go to big box stores over this establishment. I am being generous by giving them 1 star. read more

Rick came out to look at a very old and slightly leaking Maytag washer. I actually purchased this unit from them within the last 7 years as a refurbished machine. I think it was made in around 2003. Over the phone it sounded like I might be looking at a new unit so I mentally prepped myself for that outcome. Rick came in, evaluated the situation and about $100 later I have a solid machine again. I've purchased from this local business three times since I've been in this house (almost 38 years) and have rarely ever required a service call, but when I have it's always been a very fair experience. I don't know how much other Maytag sellers sell their units for, but I will say I'll always buy from this business as their customer service has been very good and they have stood by their products. Having a fair and honest local business is more important for me to support than saving a few bucks on a new purchase. I don't often write reviews, but these days it's important for me to recognize a company I have good feelings about. I also tip well at restaurants when the service is good. :-) read more

I own a real estate company and dependable maytag has been our go to appliance store for many many years. Not only are the staff amazing people but they have worked with us on so many appliance replacements over the years and they have always been flexible with scheduling and given us great pricing. You get what you pay for, you can go to other stores that have comparable but maybe a few dollars less in price but you won't get the same service! I usually don't purchase from companies that have three stars, but the situation was desperate. My nanny called while we were out of town and said the wash machine and dishwasher were no longer working. I called Naperville Maytag and inform them price was of no concern. My only requirement was (1)delivered within one week (2) a white front loader washing machine and (3) a white dishwasher with no handle. Within three months the dishwasher stopped working. The dependable Maytag in Naperville service wait was more than 6 days. So I called the warranty service, which fixed the issue within 3 days. Within three months the machine broke again!!! This time I wanted Naperville Dependable Maytag to come. So, I waited two weeks for my service appointment. The service man was rude and had no answers to why and how to fix my less than a year old $800 dishwasher. I wish I could give less than one star. This is Naperville's worst store. We live in Naperville and our Dental practice is in Romeoville. We are telling all our friends and patients never to purchase from Maytag. Especially from the Naperville Dependable Maytag appliances store. read more

Plus they had independent dealer models of both that are not found in the big box stores. They are EXACTLY what we needed - All the features in a smaller footprint with a 5 year full warranty. Shopping local pays off! (They have also serviced our 25 year old units patiently for years; and this time came out and priced what was needed. It was a pleasure to do business with the people at Dependable Maytag. Howard was very knowledgeable on dryers and he was personable as well. Dana was very efficient and had the sales transaction done in two minutes. Jim coordinated an installation for the following day. The service technicians were on time, professional and clean. Besides all of that... they had lower prices then some big box stores, their installation service prices were reasonable and they honored a $50.00 local coupon. These guys are the best. Always willing to help walk you thru a repair if you let on that you are comfortable with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. Encouraged me to replace the latch myself in my Maytag dishwasher to avoid the $150.00 service call. Yes indeed these guys are Dependable repair folks. I usually have a good experience here. I dread the big box stores. However, be prepared for whatever brand you buy from this place to immediately die after the warranty. In the past 10 years every major appliance has failed from this place and the part exceeds the cost of replacement. Rick on the phone says "Repair is their business not supporting the brands they carry with any reliability" He says he understands but is not willing to do anything but tell you to call the manufacturer of the not so dependable stuff he sells. I noticed that Alex O. and I had similar experiences with this company. Dependable Maytag sent someone over to look at my washing machine. Then told me it would cost $600 to replace a part. They would not honor the warranty. Then they would not leave until I paid them for a service fee for coming out to the house even though I had a warranty. I had to call and verify that I should have gotten service and repair without any cost after calling the warranty company listed on the contract. This was a very frustrating experience. I'm not interested in an apology on yelp or even a refund. The manager hung up on me twice after calling with the details. read more

They would not honor a warranty issue, even after they were contacted directly by Whirlpool headquarters authorizing and asking them to provide service. I bought a dishwasher in September and it has not worked since the day I bought it. I have had nothing but trouble with them and the dishwasher. Then I bought a a new washer that from the time I got it had issues.... I continued to call for service and literally got shifted to other people since we at the time lived too far...again the machine is under the 1 year warranty they continue to drag out any service for it. But they don't mind continually telling me they are charging me for a visit to look at it.... Yet it's under warranty...Then I call they tell me they will call next week to schedule an appointment.... You know what they do?!?!?!? Call me at 9:15 on a Friday that they will be out between 10-12?!?!? What is that? Little did they know I know how they are and already contacted whirlpool and they FIXED it on Tuesday. I'm not sure about the definition of dependable that was used. Based on my experience with this place, dependable means a service tech who quoted a much lower price than what office is trying to charge, an office who either doesn't order the correct parts or sends the wrong parts with the field tech, no tracking systems to tell the customer what's been completed without the field tech's paper work order, and a person in the office who was very rude to her customer. Definitely do not recommend this place. They obviously don't care about their customers. It's been two weeks and no solution. Ridiculous. read more

The circuit board went out on our 12 month old dishwasher. We have been waiting 7 weeks for the part that supposedly is on backorder. There has been little response, concern or help from Dependable Maytag Home Appliance Center. Buyer beware. Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool and they make the least dependable crappiest appliances. From the time we stopped in and talked to the Salesman to the delivery, setup, and removal of the old Washer, they were helpful and professional. On December 26, 2015 my wife and I purchased a dryer from Dependable Maytag. We have purchased items from them since the time they we have lived in the area and always had good service and have recommended them to our friends. Unfortunately with this last purchase Dependable Maytag totally dropped the ball. The dryer we purchased got louder and louder as we ran it. I have never heard a dryer made this type of noise. We called Dependable Maytag and were told to try the dryer for a week to see if the noise would go away. After a week the noise became louder. We called Dependable Maytag back after a week and they seemed unconcerned and we had to insist to have a tech look at the dryer. On January 14, 2016 the tech spent an hour working on the dryer and could not repair it. He told us it was defective bulkhead. We called Maytag's corporate office because we did not hear anything from Dependable Maytag. The corporate office told us there was no record on file from the techs visit or the problem. Customer Service at Maytag told us that a dryer with a defective bulkhead would have to be replaced. The last week of January is when our doubts about Dependable Maytag would begin to surface. When we called Dependable Maytag the person we needed to speak with was either busy or on the phone. We never got a return call. This pattern continued through February. Finally at the beginning of March of 2016 I was able to speak to a person at Dependable Maytag and set a delivery date for a new dryer. The dryer was delivered on March 7, 2016. A note to Dependable Maytag. When a customer has a problem do not brush them off. Do not let a problem linger for two months. Keep better records when a customer has a problem. I feel it is kind to give a one star rating. I hope Dependable Maytag will take this review as an incentive to bring their customer service back to level it once was. read more

I had bought a Maytag drying center & steamer in 2004. It has been a great purchase, no problems up till this week. No heat when drying. I called for service and talked with Rick. According to Rick we could change these items ourselves or have a tech come out. Only 1 day for a tech to come out. Needed new coils & thermostat. Technician #31 that came out was professional and did a great job. We are totally satisfied and I am back in business. Highly recommend for a tech who knows the product well & has the parts available, so there is no waiting days. read more

Can't say enough good things about Dependable Maytag and it's staff. We had trouble selling our home and had to redo the kitchen. No fun to spend money on new things for other people but Rick made sure we put in good quality appliances at a reasonable cost. Delivery was right on time and the installers were excellent, despite the countertop installers not leaving them an appropriate amount of room. The crew was courteous and respectful of our home. Happy to report it did the trick and we sold our home, but I do miss my fabulous five-burner cooktop. read more

He even recommended a local cabinet carpenter who did a wonderful job modifying our cabinet to fit the new refrigerator. The installation team has to be the best in the business. They were on time. They took great care moving the old appliances out and the new units in. You could tell they really cared about a quality installation, not hurrying through to get to the next job. I had Dependable Maytag Naperville come to my house and charged me for unnecessary work($350.) worth and still DID NOT rectify the problem!! Put Vaseline all around seals on frig and freezer:now have to replace them all which will cost me more money plus labor and service call!! No one has ever heard of doing that!!
