I am a certified HVAC Tech and also a landlord. I am 65 and have rehab 100's of SFR's and GC 1000's of apartment rehabs. I had the flqame sensor of my 2008 Rheem furnace go bad. I was on a project in Baton Rouge and my rental is in Aurora, IL. Normally I service my own rentals locally and have professional property management for the rentals that are not local. I got a call from my tenanat and knew that most likely I needed a Flame sensor replacement. This was Saturday and the temp in the house was dropping quickly. So I called around to see who would commit to being there first. Franzen said 1/2 hour (actual time 2 hours later) and since they are physically located close to the property I said yes. I expected to pay emergency call out rates probaly twice the normal rate. The part can be bought on line for $10 to $15 dollars. This job is a quick one for experienced techs. less than 30 minutes for certain. They quoted me $120 rate just for the call out or $120/hr. Not only were they very late but THE BILL WAS $387.35 or 3.10 hrs labor. Needless to say not going to use them again. read more

New furnace, a/c and humidifier. Ouch! Called Franzen and from the time they inspected our old system to ordering our new equipment and getting us in for install, it was just a little over a week. Amazing turn around time and service! Very fair pricing too. Tony worked with our budget and have us a few different options. He explained the various levels of furnace efficiency and helped us choose the right equipment for our house. We ended up going with the most efficient unit and he explained the additional vent pipe that this would require that was included in the installation process. Jason and Trevor completed the install. They were so kind, respectful and knowledgeable. They went the extra mile to talk to my kids and keep an eye on our dog while I took the kids out. It was really a pleasure to have them over working on our house. Very tidy too! Put down lots of drop clothes to protect our carpet. Jason constructed a new plenum for our furnace and his sheet metal skills are really on point! Very clean work. He takes pride in what he does. Same thing with the piping. He figured out how to assemble the new vent piping so that it would be as flush to the ceiling as possible. Excellent workmanship and really excellent people to work with! read more

Our furnace went out on the Friday night 2 weeks before Christmas, 2019. I called Franzen on Saturday morning and Tony Franzen picked up immediately. He told us he'd be there before noon and even gave us a call right before he got to the house. He was super professional and gave us some good options for our problems, which included a new furnace and water heater. These had been incorrectly installed by previous companies. Tony left 3 space heaters with us, guaranteeing they'd be at our house at 8am on the Monday. A whole crew, turned up at 7:50 am and they never stopped working until they had a new furnace and water heater installed, by 3:30 in the afternoon. This review is a bit late as I forgot to review in January. I used Franzen last summer for a bigger issue, but had them come out again this past winter to do a simple dryer vent cleaning. My dryer was taking hours to dry a load of laundry. The dryer vent is on the second story so not accessible with a usual house ladder. Franzen team came out and were professional as usual and cleaned out the vent for a very affordable price. Laundry dries great now! read more

Recently moved to this area and bought a house for the first time. I had just bought a new washer and dryer. The dryer gave me warnings that my ducting was about 80% blocked. Checked here on Yelp and found out that these guys were near me and had some good reviews. Couldn't be more pleased. Someone answered the phone even after "normal" business hours and got me set up with an appointment right away. My mom was at the house when they came for the appointment (while I was at work). She said that the men who came were so nice and respectful of her the whole time they were there. They also did great work--my dryer is back up and running well. I got an estimate over the phone of a price range the service would be within, depending on the length and route of my ducting, and the price ended up being much lower than I expected. Very reasonable! I'd highly recommend them for this type of service. I already plan on going back to them when it gets warmer to have my air conditioning inspected for the summer. New to the area, checked Yelp reviews and call Franzen as they had the best reviews. Talked to Tony on the phone. I told him my issues and he said he can't get me in right away, but walked me through some trouble shooting items to solve my problem. While I was on the phone he guided me through the step to help fix the issue to hold me over until he could get someone over. Tony apologized that he could not come out sooner, but he needed to take care of his current client list. I used Franzen for a yearly inspection to make sure the system was working correctly, as well as clean the system. The tech did not bring in any tools and asked us to supply them for him. There was barely a basic review of the system, however, he did not even clean it. There is a total lack of customer service towards its customers including the office staff that are not able to address any issues. I would recommend not using Franzen H & C if you need a competent HVAC and customer service oriented business. read more

I have used Franzen for over 4 years. I have bought my AC and furnace from them and so has my son. I also use them for yearly maintenance. Whenever I have encountered a problem they have been overly helpful and completely fair on all pricing. I had a few issues in late December 2019 and they spent a lot of time problem solving and it was resolved. They stand behind their work and make sure any problems are resolved. Franzen Heating and Cooling is a joke! Tony sent his worker Jeremy Howard out... Jeremy told my wife we had a leak in our system but it would cost between 800 - 1000 dollars to find and fix the leak. He recharged our system and charged me $290.00. My A/C unit stopped working again in a couple of days! After having another company fix my system, which I was told "Any half decent HVAC person would have found." I contacted Tony, which he agreed to refund my $90.00, for the services (obviously not done properly). After almost a month of weekly emails and getting excuse after excuse as to why the refund was not sent out... (forgot, mommy was out of town...) My wife called and was talked to completely rude and hung up on. I would never recommend this company to anyone! I have filed a complaint with the BBB and will be taking this issue further! read more
