The contractor had no clue how to fix this and we were left without reliable internet. After reaching out to many services, Mendel was first to respond. He perfectly understood the issue and offered to come immediately, early AM on a weekend no less, and at a VERY reasonable hourly rate. When he showed up, it was clear why he named his service "Friendly" as he's the nicest person I have met. He immediately identified the issues, involved me in the process, and managed within an hour (not all day as I had worried) fix everything. You can see it in my photo below. What had happened was that I had bought a new laptop from LG (~9 months ago) and its' performance was just so weirdly slow from the time I brought it home. In particular, the proxy setting just would not turn off no matter how many times I disabled it. Plus, the PC performance was horrifically slow. Not a good sign and I did a lot of malware scans with no luck on finding any issue. Finally, I got fed up and, after a bit of research, I found Allstate.
