My wife and I live for places like Depot 25. Way off the beaten path, an unexpected treasure. Not just food, but cuisine. Friendly staff, excellent food, excellent drinks, an authentic ambience. Perfect portion sizes. Outstanding French onion soup. The clams oreganato was out of this world. Fresh bread served to the table. Sausage with peppers and onions perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. Take 5 minutes to look on the walls to make you feel the history of this wonderful place. Photographs and drawings bring you to different time. Tiffany style lamps, sconces and brass chandeliers reminiscent of yesteryear's railroad industry, adorn this gloriously repurposed train station. Feels like a family run operation. We Really Like this restaurant. We don't eat out that much anymore but when we do this is the place. They serve real scratch made food instead on premade Sysco Slop like everywhere else. 10 times better than Nolan's at 1/2 the price. They will actually Cook my steak in Real butter in a pan then finished in the oven vs. cooked on a grill doused in Whirl. They serve real warm Italian bread and real butter Wow! Can you imagine omg vs. 2 Small bioengineered Sysco frozen rolls with fake seed oil honey butter, Just amazing ! Is this place for real ? Offering great food at a reasonable price price? We have seed oil allergies. The depot 25 meals are truly "made To order" free of seed oils when requested., instead of made ahead in batch and reheated when ordered This is better than any restaurant in Canandaigua and their weekly Specials keep us coming back. 9 of us went to dinner there.Our meals were delicious. BUT.. really 4 or 5 canned green beans on the plate was embarrassing to look at. Our waitress took it with a grain of salt and had fun with us. Really enjoyed this restaurant, which reminded me of a place way back in time. I would have rated it five stars except for the semi-stale bread served upon being seated. I loved the railroad vibe, decor and music (a mix of Frank Sinatra and seventies). I ordered a vodka tonic, which appeared in record time and was generously poured. We started with a Cesar salad, sprinkled with plenty of cheese. My husband had a French onion soup he devoured. It seems the chef has specialty dishes and I had read in reviews that the mussels were one of them. I ordered muscles over linguine, served with thin and tasty tomato sauce...ahhh...it reminded me of dishes I had in NJ as a kid. The mussels were Divine, clean and cooked to perfection. My husband had the gnocchi, freshly made and wonderfully light. I am so happy we ordered dessert. We had an Italian lemon cake that was excellent. Second time getting a family deal meal here. The chicken Parmesan, rigatoni and salad deal for $40 fed four adults and two teenagers. We were all impressed with the comfort food meal. Tje appetizer I ordered was nice but lacked flavor. Very fresh tomatoes and bread. My husband was not happy with the Onion soup. I did not try it do to it looked like chicken broth. I did try his steak. I dis not like it was too tough.my husband said he enjoyed it non the less. My main dish lacked flavor as well. Could of had more seasonings. It was a vodka sauce. What an amazing find this was! We were on our way from vacation at Niagara Falls to a concert at Finger Lakes Community College and found this gem on Yelp along the way. It is an old train depot that was converted to a diner over 40 years ago and is still owned by the same couple. We went on a Wednesday night and it was crowded, so you know it's good. The space is small and quirky. Half is dedicated to the bar where you can eat a meal as well, while other half is the dining area. The portions are generous. We ate the leftovers for lunch the next day. The food is fabulous--with choices of Italian, seafood, steaks, and such. The service is top notch and this is where all the locals go in this tiny town of 2,000. read more

Salad was fresh and homemade dressing , bread was homemade with whipped butter and service was incredible / timely all around . Had reservations for Father's Day at 5:00. Dinner was amazing. Denver Bistro steak. I can't remember the last time I had better steak. So flavorful, cooked to perfection & very tender. Depot was the BEST find during the Pandemic. So good that we'd travel 30 minutes for take out. Been going a couple of years a 2-3 times a month. We have some favs of which the large house salad is mine to take to work next day for lunch! The soups have never disappointed. Dave the owner and his wife have fostered an environment where customer care is A+. Love walking into a place where people know my name or what my requests are when I call in for take out. Some of the things we love to order: French Onion Soup, Cheddar Bacon BBQ burger, Artichoke French, and angel hair pasta with either meatballs or italian sausage with either red or vodka sauces. We had a 60th birthday celebration for my wife at this fine restaurant last night. Reservations for 14 were at 7 PM. We arrived a little early and the place was SRO but found a cozy spot at the bar to have a couple drinks while waiting for our table and keeping out of the way of the amazing servers as the bar is between the dining area and the kitchen. The staff was pleasantly accommodating for us as I asked to bring in a gluten free cake for dessert. All went off without a hitch. Got to stay at the bar after dinner for one last cocktail to top off a fine evening of food, drink, and chatter among friends. Great people, great staff. Stopped here on a Wednesday​ night. It was pasta night. Both Alfredo and red sauces available. Chicken, sausage or meatballs sides. Good food. Prepared well. Hot pepper appetizer was HOT. Local grown peppers. I had a Gnarly head red Zinfandel wine. Good match with the penne pasta. Salads resemble an Italian antipasto. The building is an old railroad station. I don't like to write bad reviews but our experience here for a Friday fish fry was a total fail on their part . So to be fair , this place has been around a long time so they must do something right, but they missed the mark for us . We called ahead to make reservations for eight people and specifically told them we were coming for the fish fry . We were seated and then pretty much ignored for 15-20 minutes. When our server did come back she said they were out of fish ! Then we started to pick other items and were told they were out of that as well . We finally got our food ordered and then another long, long wait. Finally it arrived and one of the meals was completely under cooked and had to be sent back . So one person was not eating when everyone else was ... I hate that . The worst part and the reason for the poor review is that no one came to apologize or do anything to correct the bad situation . Even after my brother told the waitress it was the worst dinning experience he could remember . We were there over two hours and the waitress knew things were going bad . A simple "sorry" and any token gesture to correct the situation would have gone a long way to make this a better experience . read more

Our first visit to this hidden gem in "downtown" Shortsville. Absolutely wonderful experience, incredible food, great server, will be back without question. My prime rib was delectable, my wife greatly enjoyed her salmon. Particularly enjoyed their attention to detail with perfectly fresh salads that include extras like cheese, deli meat, and peppers, and they do not skimp on the dressing like some places do! Very beautiful surprising little train depot with of course train decor everywhere . This appears to be where the locals eat as well as tourists very casual laid-back but busy restaurant I had the sirloin with the bourbon Demi glaze with mushrooms and onions ,I picked the pasta with red sauce as a side, my husband had the ribeye with mushrooms and onions and blue cheese that was so decadent and delicious perfectly cooked meats We both had the house salad with the homemade Italian dressing it was like an Anna pasta a little bit and we also had a French onion soup which was some of the best French onion soup I've ever had.. They have Bread service at this restaurant as well as a full bar.And the clams casino were the best I've ever had. For dessert we have a gingerbread cake with some type of cream filling . It was a little drive to me but my husband says that gingerbread always a little bit dry ...But the flavor was so old-fashioned and delicious reminded me of my grandmother. read more
