Dr Deram is a great dermatologist, and I appreciate his cosmetic approach to dermatology. He's one of the best derms I've visited, but his wait times.... too crazy! I've been stuck in his waiting room for over an hour past my appointment on more than one occassion. Even when I've been his very first appointment of the day at 8:30a, I still seem to be waiting to even get a glimpse of the doctor by 9:45a. If I had a totally open schedule without a thing to do, I may even consider waiting around for Dr. Deram - like I said, his work is great. But unfortunately there's no way I can regularly find a two to three hour window in my schedule for a standard dermatology appointment. It's disappointing that something so easy to fix can overshadow the doctor's talents (plus his supporting office staff is very friendly and professional too!) But unfortunately this is a recurring issue that I don't think Dr. Deram cares to change. Dr Deram has been seeing me for a couple of years. I could not be happier with his service. The Newport office is very clean, comfortable and easy to get to. His staff always greets you with a smile and is pleasant to work with. I have had a couple of extensive surgeries and Dr Deram made me feel comfortable through each and every one. Post surgery is great, he checks on you via cell phone in between appointments, we exchanged pictures during the recovery, he is very caring. I could tell something was off with this guy. I've had 2 skin cancers previously treated by dermatologists and I used to work in a dermatologist's office. He didn't even use the right terminology regarding skin. He says his practice is Deram Dermatology, but he is not residency trained as a dermatologist, he is trained in family practice. Even the biopsy he did was messed up and he did not seem to know how to interpret the result. It was obvious to me that he didn't know what he was doing. Deram Cosmetic Surgery - Loving my new skin Thanks to my Dermatologist Dr. Deram - Dermatologists Near Me - Fountain Valley, California

I hate to be that ONE person who leaves a negative review at a highly rated place, but I truly did not have the best experience with Dr. Deram. I had 3 warts on the cuticles of my middle, ring, and pinky (under 2mm, barely visible) that I wanted to have treated. I've had warts on my hand before and the dermatologist I went to before was able to freeze them off after a few treatments with precision. However when I visited Dr. Deram, he wanted to go with a much more invasive, surgical procedure that involves literally burning and digging out the flesh on my finger (which admittedly would be a more permanent solution), and leave some "craters" (his word) on my fingers. I was not comfortable with taking such drastic measures, so I opted for the liquid nitrogen treatment. What I didn't expect was that Dr. Deram's freezing technique and equipment was so crude, it caused so much unnecessary discomfort and collateral damage to the surrounding tissues and nail. The other dermatologist had a cone-looking equipment that allowed them to focus in on the ward itself; Dr. Deram's freezer had no such equipment and he unnecessarily froze all over the tip of my finger and nail. Also for my pinkie, which has the wart that is so small to begin with (he failed to see it at first even with his magnifying glass), he instead used the cauterizer that literally dug a hole that is more than 3x the original size of the wart. After that he also applied some sort of acid to the open wound, as if it wasn't already painful enough. Eventually he sent me on my way, all with out any kind of bandage, numbing cream, or instructions on how to protect my wounds. I am writing this review a week later, and my fingers are still swollen and the blisters are much bigger than any of my previous treatments at the other dermatologist. I also found out today for the 20 minutes or so of treatment I received, I was billed $880 (plus my $70 copay upfront). Giving credit where it's due, I will admit that Dr. Deram was very polite, courteous, and he did a very good job explaining to me what treatment he would have done for me, and did not at all try to rush. Overall, Dr. Deram might be very good at other procedures that require much more advanced treatment, but for something minor I would definitely NOT go to him; he did not advocate minimally invasive procedures, but was in favor of much more damaging procedures (more permanent, but much more costly as well). read more

I have been going to Dr. Deram for almost a year a now. I can honestly say that I am so thankful I found this DR. He has helped me with my acne, face and other enhancements I wanted to do. Everything he recommended has helped my problems. The improvements on my face is great. I come in for laser treatments for my acne scars every month. Sometimes every 2 weeks. When it comes to wait times.... Out of all the times I went I probably only had to wait extra 30 minutes on top of my appointment time a couple of times. Which is totally understandable. I work in medical field and I do understand there are patients who needs more time than others. Sometimes it can be unpredictable. I am willing to wait for a great Dr who I truly trust. My fiancé and I went to Dr. Deram for a shave biopsy which needed to be completely removed. Dr. Deram did such an amazing job from start to finish. He spent so much time with him and explained the procedure. He made us both feel very comfortable and did a wonderful job overall. His suture technique was excellent and the scar is healing very nicely. As a physician myself I could tell how impeccable his skill is. For me personally I got Botox and Dr. Deram did great there as well. He was a gentle injector and knew how to contour my face so that I still have some movement in my forehead and gave me a nice natural eyebrow arch.
