Solid pizza place tucked off a side road in the "downtown" portion of mount Washington. Very tiny place but seems to be well kept. When walking in toy place your order at the counter and seat yourself. I went with my oldest two daughters and we shared a large cheese pizza. Service was super fast and we probably got our pizza within ten minutes. They style pizza is thin crust. And saying thin crust may be an understatement. I've had flat breads that are thicker than this pizza. But it was still tasty. Good amount of cheese and the sauce had a nice zesty taste to it that stood out. Normally on thin crust pizzas the sauce takes the back seat. However on this pizza it really stands out. Overall cool little place that hit the spot for my daughters and I. Solid pizza and my girls loved it. The slices being so thin they felt really accomplished because they were able to eat so many slices. So they had fun with that too. read more

I found this restaurant sort of by accident, it is slightly on the small size. Parking lot is not very large either, but the staff very friendly. Inside interior is very nice, and they sell their own T-shirts there. We took advantage of the Thursday night special, large 2 topping pizza and a pitcher of Miller Lite for $14.99 plus taxes. Also if you pay cash, you get a 5% discount. The pizza crust is very thin, like cracker crust. The sauce is great. We will eat there again and next time going to try their pasta. I've have been wondering why we have never been to Derby City Pizza. We have been cheating ourselves . Had the "Champ" I don't know how that thin crust held all the toppings. The crust was great and crispy. You taste everything in each bite. A ton of toppings. We were going to take it home but ended up making it less than a mile before we had to stop and eat it. No more Pizza Hut or Dominos for me. read more

My issue is only with the fact they did not make all of my pizzas this visit. I ordered three and they only made two. So my two pizzas sat waiting while they made the pizza they forgot. I love the pizza but this mistake bothers me as I didn't even get an apology for their mistake. Just had to wait while they made a fresh one while my two other pizza were getting cold. Working up the street from this pizza joint, I thought I would finally give it a try. I ordered the lunch spaghetti and meatballs and they were actually on par with fazolis baked spaghetti. I could potentially come back again. The customer service was decent and the prices were really good for lunch. Mt. Washington doesn't have a ton of options but this is a decent one for good tasting food and quick service. read more

This was a pretty good place to stop by and eat pizza with the family. I'm much of a fan of thin crust pizza, but the BBQ pizza tasted good. I liked the outside seating and my boys like spinning on the bar stools. read more

If you have time to wait, then this is the place to go.... We had been there for a little over 40 minutes and still had not had our order taken. We have had enough time to drink our tables large beers waiting and watched everyone around us be served and have their orders taken. I decide to go ahead and give this place and another shot tonight. I didn't really want to but my mother wanted to take my wife and two kids out in this is where she wanted to go. So we decided to give it another shot. We ordered an extra large pepperoni and sausage for the 4 of us and a kid spaghetti also for my kids. Then pizza itself was much better than the last time I had it. However the service and atmosphere just does not do it for me. Get everything yourself clean everything up yourself and just too small. It's always an exciting time when a new restaurant opens in our smallish town of Mt Washington. The talk around the town has been buzzing for weeks with anticipation of the new pizza place. Because let's face it, who doesn't love pizza? After a hard days work some friends and I decided to see what all the talk was about. When you are pulling into the restaurant you're greeted with a shotgun style building with enough parking to house a regular crowd. When it gets busy you may have to park at a neighboring business and walk over. Fortunately some places such as Maggie Mae's have offered up their spots when they are closed, for extra parking. Walking into the place you would think you were in the highlands. The trendy walls with local decorations make this feel welcoming. They really stick to the hometown feel. You order your food at the register and seat yourself anywhere you would like. They have a small draft selection and several bottles of beer. I even saw a few craft selections, a nice variety for this town. I ordered the meat lovers pizza known as the "Runner Up." It comes on thin crust but we opted for thick crust which was I think $2 extra. It had a healthy amount of toppings and the right amount of cheese to hold it all together. Although I was disappointed there was no bacon on it. The sauce tasted like, what I would call zesty. It ties all the toppings and crust together to create some serious deliciousness! We also ordered the 10" cheese sticks that were on par with some of the best. Loaded with cheese and dipped in marinara sauce, not much better than that. The wait for our food was a bit long but it's a brand new place and everyone wants to try it out. You do get free drink refills so drink up. I can most definitely see myself coming back here and bringing new friends to try it. Next time I'll try to branch out past the pizza. The meatballs looked like they are just under the size of a baseball so that may be in my future. read more

We had never been and didn't know you ordered at the counter (no signs when we went) and sat and waited. We finally went to counter and waitress said "well you have to order here" OK ... did you not see us sitting there for 5 minutes? Drinks are self serve. No one comes to check on you, but the wait staff expects a tip? You order your stuff, get your stuff and are expected to clean up after yourself. Why have 'wait staff' The pizza wasn't bad but wasn't a fan of the sauce and it was overpriced. $35 for a large pizza, kids pizza and 3 drinks? I ordered one of the gluten-free pizzas yesterday and it was wonderful. I told my friend about it and they talked me into ordering pizza a second night in a row. We ordered a gluten-free for myself and a regular pizza for them. We also ordered two of the boneless chicken wings. My gluten-free pizza was burnt and the regular pizza was covered in olives so much so that it ruin the flavor and was ridiculous looking. And about the wings, one order was mushy and burnt but the other one was fine. Neither of us ate more than two pieces of the pizzas, and just one bite of a hot boneless wing. So basically I paid $72 for one order of barbecue boneless wings. read more

Found out as paying our bill we were charged 3% of our bill for paying by credit card. Derby City Pizza was one of our favorites. Not any longer due to this. We're told that they rely on the customer to pay not the business. Sorry Derby City, this is the cost of doing business so we will find another Pizza Company the does not charge their customers extra. read more

Dined in for pizza here the other night and it was really good. We had garlic cheese sticks and cheese balls for an appetizer. Both were delicious. I don't know why, but the cheese balls were not listed on our menu, but we had them before. Our pizza was the special, two-topping large for $9.99. We had pepperoni and Italian sausage. It was delicious. The crust was thin and perfectly crisp. Including our appetizers the pizza was more than enough for three of us, and we brought some home. This place now serves Ehrler's Ice Cream which in itself is almost enough to give it a five star ranking. You can buy them by the pint, and they have 4-5 flavors. The reason I only gave them a 4 is because I hate their ordering process for dine-in. You can sit and look over the menu at your table, but then you walk up to the counter to order. On this night it was crowded and there wasn't a lot of room up there. It seemed to be moving kind of slow. I think there's a more efficient way for dine-in ordering. Staff was nice, food was delicious. It was a nice change of pace from the chain pizza restaurants. This place also has pasta, wings, and great looking sub sandwiches. We'll definitely be back. NOTE: I just went and read the other reviews, and everyone's chief complaint (for the most part) was the self-service atmosphere. The ordering process, and cleaning up after yourself. You'd think they'd make adjustments to this system based on the feedback. read more

We went to Derby City Pizza last night for the first time. What a great experience. We got the large champs pizza it was delicious. We had a coupon for 19.99 which included cheesey bread. It was awesome as well. I can't say enough about the amazing service . We had a wonderful waitress however any server that walked by checked to make sure we had everything we needed. It has been a long time since we have experienced this kind of service. We will definitely go back . If you haven't tried this place you really should . It is a win in all categories. Food is good here but their service is not good. As I was waiting for my pizza takeout. I saw them out a pizza in the window. The employees behind the counter seemed oblivious to the pizzas stacking up in the window. They were too busy talking and counting out their tips. Finally a cook in the rear yelled that the window was full and no room for more. The employee that checked me out when I arrived finally turned around and pulled my pizza and asked my name. It had been sitting in the window for almost 10 minutes. There was 3 people behind the counter and they were not busy with other customers. I used to order a large pizza with everything on it and get it and it was always so good right on point nothing could ever be complained about but since the last 2 months they have gone downhill I get pizza that is burnt so crispy you can't do anything with it hardly any toppings on it I had to take two different pieces back yesterday it was crazy the week before it was just not right it was to Crisp barely had any topping but we didn't want to complain so we ate it so when you spend $27 you got to be happy I could have went and got a $5 pizza and then this discouraged so I hope when this is all said and done I get my old Pizza back and not the one that is being made now read more
