My Husband and I were out running errands on Thursday 4/16/26 at around 8:00 PM and it got late and we were in the Mt Washington area. We didn't want fast food so one of the few options was Hometown Pizza. I knew the second that I walked in what kind of experience we were going to have because the place smelled like sour mop water. My instincts were telling me to turn around and leave but like I said it was late, we were hungry and just wanted to sit down and have a meal. There was only one server working and that meant waiting tables and cleaning up after people left. We ordered a salad and a medium pizza. The salads came out in a decent amount of time but we waited almost 40 minutes for the pizza. Waiting for a fresh hot pizza would have been fine but to wait 40 minutes for a cold pizza that tastes like cardboard was not ok. Not to mention the fact that she also brought out a practically frozen garlic butter for us to dip our cold pizza in. My Husband was going to say something immediately but I told him it was late, we already waited 40 minutes and I was not waiting another 40 for another pizza so we just ate the cold pizza. I just wonder how long the pizza sat back there before anyone decided to bring it to the table. If the server was busy waiting on other tables it only makes sense that someone else could step in and help. The person I blame is the one who made the pizza and just let it sit there getting cold. When we left my Husband spoke to the girl at the checkout and told her that the pizza was cold and that we waited 40 minutes for it. He thought that the least they could do is give us a discount. The "manager" if there really was one on duty would not even come out and speak to him. We were just told that because we ate the cold, cardboard tasting pizza that we were not getting any sort of discount. I should have looked at the horrible reviews on Yelp because I wouldn't have even pulled into the parking lot. Great way to do business! Lesson learned....if we are in the Mt Washington area again and need to stop for dinner it will definitely not be Hometown Pizza! read more

Great food, and quick service. Just seems everyone is stressed But it's nice to sit have some great pizza and conversations.

Very nice people and excellent food. Pizzas are always done to perfection. Good amount of toppings on the pies. Some places actually apply to many and too much. The pizza ends up undercooked in the middle and the toppings don't get cooked properly. They have the right amounts of everything. I have made a lot of pizzas and this is the best in Mt. Had lunch here yesterday, there were four of us. The individual hometown pizza lunch special we were served was not good. Most of the pizzas lacked green pepper, and onion as well as pepperoni! Yes we got Italian sausage and cheese depending on the 4 different pizzas with differing crusts. Barely saw a mushroom, a few black olives! The salads were hearty! We brought my aging mother here because she had had this pizza in the past and loved it, but for dinner and a larger pizza. Guess the moral of the story... don't go for the lunch special! read more

Since my last complaint of November 2023, the quality has been satisfactory. But the last time I ordered a pizza from them will be the last time. We always order extra cheese and extra pepperoni and have been doing so for the past 6 years. This pizza was overcooked, and no extra ingredients yet I was still charged. I sent a complaint email to their corporate office, and just like my other complaint from 2 years ago, it was ignored and I got no response. First, the service was great. The pizza was fantastic. The only knock there, and a small one, the garlic butter was not hot. The big knock is the draft beer. Not ONE decent craft beer on tap. Although I live outside of the Mount Washington area, I had occasion to visit hometown pizza. Just wanted to mention the wonderful service and wonderful attitudes of the staff there. Their lunch special is amazing... Individual pizza of your choice with up to six toppings, and one of the best side salads I've eaten, for $9 even. Fast service, you can call in your order and pay for it when you arrive, just like the good old days. Sometimes it's nice not to have to talk to India or complicated online ordering. We ordered a large veggie pizza and a hot brown pizza. The pizza is consistently decent. However, the hot brown pizza is pretty rich for us. Still, if you haven't had it, it's worth a shot. I loved the cheesy breadsticks. Skip the salad. We had a minor issue with receiving our food, as the counter person didn't check the computer-generated orders and sent my husband out without food initially. But the workers were polite. The pizzeria competition in and around Louisville is downright fierce. Hometown Pizza can fly under the radar, especially since tourists and the younger folk don't typically frequent the neighborhoods where Hometown has set up shop. Don't sleep on 'em, though, because they are exemplary across the board - including their relatively recent addition of craft brewing! Sausage on pizza is reaaaaally hit-or-miss for me, but Hometown knocks it out of the park; I'd say it's their strongest topping. The texture is similar to what you'd find at Papa John's but the flavor is better by leaps and bounds. You also can't go wrong with a classic pepperoni pizza (they spare no expense in stacking those pepperonis, that's for sure) or with their specialty pizzas. The latter are boilerplate concepts (veggie, buffalo chicken, etc.) but are consistently executed well. Hometown's menu is further bolstered by a strong variety of non-pizza options, including enjoyable sandwiches and stellar wings that are capable of stealing the show from the pies themselves. I've been to the Preston Hwy and Fern Creek locations in addition to this one out in Mount WARSH-I mean, Washington. All are great; this one stands out thanks to its staff and down-home atmosphere. I love this pizza. It is so good and great price. My family and I love to go whenever we want a good pizza that's not a major chain. The service is always pleasent and I would recommend to all. You can get a lunch buffet for $6.99 and it is amazing. My dad and I come here all the time. The service is great and the people are super nice. The only downfall to this place is that it needs to be larger. It is a little small and cramped and needs some re-modeling. It was okay, but not a place that I would come back to eat or recommend. Sandwiches were super salty. The cook did not wear a net over his beard and pieces of his hair ended in the food. We weren't charged for it, but proper food handling would have prevented this from happening. Please understand, when someone has to wait an hour for their to go order, there is time to observe everything. The people working standing around talking and ignoring the customers. Girls with fake nails, picking their nose, being rude to the customers. Getting multiple orders wrong, including mine. After a long wait for my order, I took it home and since I live close, I took it back to be remade. I waited another 20 minutes and there was no rush to get my order to me. Went to Hometown Pizza on our way to church, had an hour before we had to leave. After waiting 15 minutes to get 2 waters and a sweet tea, we knew we might be in trouble. Our pepperoni pizza and salad came to our table 40 minutes later. They weren't busy at all a little after 5 when we went in. My friend and I eat/drink at hometown on Saturdays about every other week. Buckets of beer, food(pizza & wings) and great service. The past few months we have been getting the same waitress "Destiny" She is too young to bring us our beer but other than that she makes sure we have everything we need/want.
