We reached her around their closing time and the servers were very sweet to offer us free lemon slush along with an enormous serving of the ice cream. I've been here since I can remember. My dad came here when he was dating my mom (my mom is in her 50s) and now I have my son and this is the only place we go for ice cream. Experience at deli delight was not delightful. Food-2/5 The food was ok. I got a hot fudge brownie sundae for $5.45. It tasted as if though someone mixed vanilla soft serve ice cream with chocolate soft serve ice cream. It had fudge,nuts,brownies, and caramel but the ice cream itself was bad so the topping didn't really add much to the taste. The serving was HUGE l, couldn't finish it though because it tasted not too well. --SOMETHING DIFFERENT - gave me a free slushy for my order. --TIP they give you one slushy per order so if you are going with friends or family make sure you all order separately so you get that many slushy's. Deri Delite (that's how it's spelled on the sign) is a small Ice cream, hamburger and hot dog stand located in Aurora. I suspect this building was once a Tastee Freez or a Dairy Queen, but is now Deri Delite. I pulled up and was quite amused by the vintage building, interesting signage and general feeling of nostalgia for what life might have been like in a time period when I wasn't actually alive. After looking over their menu I noticed they had a hot dog (it was on the Deri Delite sign as well) and decided to order that. A few minutes later my hot dog had arrived at the window and I walked over to one of the benches to sample it. The hot dog I received came on a somewhat dry non-poppy seed bun. The hot dog itself was quite large, and was a skinless style of dog. It tasted like the type of hot dog that might be found in a grocery store rather than anything resembling a traditional Chicago style dog. On it was mustard, onions, salsa like tomato and ketchup. Clearly they weren't trying to make it a the Chicago style dog. There were also jalapeno's off to the side on the back of the container. I also sampled a jalepeno and it was pretty tasty. Overall for the price (If I recall correctly it was under 2.00) this wasn't that bad of a hot dog. But I certainly wouldn't try it again here or recommend it. It's quite possible that their ice cream, hamburgers or some of the other items they serve might be better. I like the overall aesthetic of this place a lot, though hot dogs do not seem to be their specialty. Based on my visit I'm going to give them two stars, but this may go up at some point after a return visit. But for now I think it's appropriate. read more

Deri Delite where have you been all my life? Some friends and I discovered this Aurora gem while hanging out late. It's a little out there as far as driving but you will be pleasantly surprised by how great the ice cream is. Apparently, they've been around for around 27 years so it's essentially a neighborhood icon. We had the apple pie sundae which was incredible. The ice cream was creamy and and the sundae had just the right ingredients. The apple pie at the bottom was also done just right. The place is not that south from the 88/Farnsworth exit so if you're ever shopping at the outlet mall and want some ice cream, come by. read more
