Bend Brewing was a local recommendation, and I'm glad that we stopped by after a long e-bike right along the Deschutes River. First and foremost, this location is awesome! Their host stand is outside, where they can easily direct you either inside or outside. We went inside to order a flight and some bar food and found a high top table outside just in time for the World Cup match. Bend Brewing is dog and family friendly, and when we stopped by, there was even a baby shower being hosted outside! You can tell that this brewery is frequented and well loved by locals. The beer and food didn't blow me away; however, I'd come back just for the environment. High energy, good for entertainment, and a cool spot to socialize over a quick drink. What kind of witchcraft is happening in this kitchen?! I came in expecting typical brewery food and left wondering how I'm supposed to enjoy pretzels anywhere else. The food was hands-down the best brewery food I've ever had, but let's talk about that pretzel. It was, without question, the best pretzel I've ever eaten. It's such a simple bar-food staple, but they absolutely nailed it. Perfectly warm, soft, salty, and served with incredible dipping sauces. Days later, I'm still thinking about it. We chose to sit inside for lunch and had wonderful table service. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly, and exactly what we were looking for. After we finished eating, we weren't quite ready to leave, so we grabbed a spot in the outdoor seating area to watch one of the World Cup matches. It ended up being the perfect way to spend the afternoon while our 4-year-old burned off some energy running around before we headed to the airport. Let me start with the positives: loved the outdoor space with a view of the river and the server was very friendly and nice. They got us our food and had us back on the road writhing about 45 minutes. Lived the IPA I had and my husband loved his as well. They had about 5 west coast style IPA and descriptions for each. That I liked! My hubby ordered the ceviche and zi had the peach and burrata caprese dish with added chicken. Here's where my positive comments end. The peaches were described as fire roasted and they were not and they were so underripe I almost did not want to eat them. The chicken breast was cut up and very dry with a lack of salt and pepper and the tomatoes were over ripe. By the way why don't restaurants give you salt and pepper anymore? And some of them only give you a fork. That was not the case here however. I want to go back in time to where you would always get water, a knife, salt and pepper and bread. We went there after visiting Silver River Resort, we went there to see the light show and after was recommended to go to Bend Brewing Company for some good fish & chips. My wife and daughter ordered the fish & chips and both were very disappointed with there order, because the fish batter was not crispy and more doughy, the French fries was tasty it didn't come out hot but was good & tasty. I had a chili and corn bread and it came out Luke warm which even the cheese didn't melt, I asked. The waitress was very nice and offered to heat it up and got me a new one. The corn bread was cold dried and hard which was not very tasty. The waitress brought out another chili & corn bread which was hotter, but by that time I was pretty full of the pull pork nachos. The Pull Pork Nacho was good and the portion was a good side. The beers were terrific and worth ordering and they gave a good variety of beers to choose from. Personally I get annoyed when someone comes and asks to try literally every one before purchasing. Just get a flight!!! But he didn't hesitate, tap his fingers or make a face when the couple next to us kept asking for a splash of everything. He served. They had a good selection of solid beer. We liked just about beer we tried. There is indoor and outdoor seating with music at just the right loudness. The view is one of the best for breweries at this little town just off the river. It's no surprise that Bend has plenty of brewery options! Bend Brewery should be on your list of places to visit! They are celebrating 30 years of Best Brews and Views - hard to argue with that! They've got an incredible outdoor seating area right along the river which is hard to beat. There was a bit of a wait but we were able to grab a drink from their patio bar and hang outside while we waited. I do feel their menu has gotten smaller, more limited, and more expensive over the years. I had the smash burger. It was tasty but hardly had any meat... more bun than anything. When the sun comes out there's no better space to enjoy it than the river patio, great river views. I appreciated the creative flavors of the menu- maple bacon chicken sandwich and butternut squash risotto balls had great fall flavors. The cajun tots were hot and perfectly crispy, a highlight. I wish the suppli were larger and more filling, I also wish the french onion soup bread was on the side because it got really soggy and had a bitter taste to it once it got so soggy. I love a going to a brewery by the water. It was quite treat to discover that Bend Brewing has a lovely outdoor area with a great view of the Deschutes River. You can also choose to hang out in other areas. Inside is sleek with lots of wood that exudes a warm vibe. There is also a patio that lines the outside of the building, and I think even more seating behind the grassy area, including some covered in a tent. Basically, Bend Brewing is a large, charming hangout space- with beer and food. Speaking of beer, I'll be honest, it didn't really stand out, but I only tried three of them & remember feeling satisfied. The pretzel was delicious, but overpriced. Beautiful sunny day on the river. We ordered a beer and bubbly white wine and shared some fish and chips. The wine and beer were good as usual. The fish and chips were less than desirable. To start the fish is battered in tempura so thick it's like eating fish in a sandwich, not good. We peeled most of the breading off. The fish itself was good. Not a review writer but I felt this was important if you are passing through town and searching for a spot. Absolutely loved the beer and lawn seating vibe. Great view of the river, well spaced out seating. Lots of picnic tables for big groups. Where it turned was the very unfriendly bar staff and honestly the inedible food. I went to order 2 more beers for my hubs and I, and the chilequiles starter and bartender/staff where you order did not try to upsale me to add chicken in which I definitely would have because they were so boring and bland! She then said is that it? In a very annoyed manner. Not is that all for now? Or even somewhat attempting to be friendly. It caught me so off guard! I took a second to glance around behind the bar and the entire energy was like they were annoyed at having to do their job.
