Very disappointed - significantly underpaid for silver I brought in a large silver collection that included: * 82 silver dimes * 247 silver quarters * 10 silver half dollars * 16 Morgan & Peace silver dollars * 40% Kennedy half dollars * War Nickels * 1 oz silver round They offered me only $3,814. When I asked the employee if this was his best offer, he replied, "This is my best offer." I later calculated the melt value of the silver they kept at approximately $5,100. That means they paid me roughly 75% of melt. Because of this experience, I will not be bringing in my much larger collection that I will soon inherit from my uncle. Not a first world problem, but I was attempting to get a 2024 proof set for my first grandchild and thought a 2024 set would be a nice Xmas gift. After multiple attempts to call and go in since late November I was told to keep checking back. I called and went in multiple times. I even gave them my name and phone number. Keep checking they said. I waited a few months and stopped by today, 7-11 and was told they don't sell them, but they checked the back to see if anyone had sold them. No, Brian, the owner told me they don't have them in stock and won'. An easy answer from back in November would have ended. I could have gone online, but wanted to support the the store being local. Terrible experience. Brian gave us a price over the phone--80 cents below spot--and we agreed, fully aware that precious metal prices fluctuate. However, when we arrived, the spot price had gone up, and he refused to honor his own statement about fluctuating prices. Instead of standing by his word, he changed the deal. I went in with precious metals to sell and this man got his XRF out and started testing all my metal. On the screen were 5 elements when he started by the time he finished and separated some into smaller piles the list lessened and lessened. So I looked up this device online that he used. Turns out he actually removed all the precious metal elements by atomical form storing them on this metal rod that is on the back of handheld. Brian was incredibly rude to to me today at Northgate Coin, I think because he felt suddenly overwhelmed when about five or six other customers entered the store soon after I did and only two workers were on the floor. I had a complicated situation, as I was selling over $1,000 worth of gold, not only for myself but also for a friend. When he put $50 worth of gold into my pile instead of my friend's after weighing it, I moved it, and he yelled, in front of all those people, "What are you doing?" At another point, he yelled, "You need to slow down!" I was not stealing, I was not trying to trip him up as we navigated our way through a pile of gold scrap. I do not feel that I was provocative in any way, actually. He was disrespectful, unkind and misogynistic, apparently felt suddenly pressured because the shop had filled up, and obviously had no problem embarrassing me. After he raised his voice the second time, I should have simply scooped up all my jewelry and walked out. I will not return to this business, so Brian will not have to worry about my taking up his time completing a transaction. Other options exist. I can go to Seattle Coin or Pacific Iron next time, and Northgate Coin, you have lost a customer for good because Brian was so obnoxious to me. read more

Really friendly! We stopped by Northgate Rare Coin Shop today after going to another shop in West Seattle after they didn't have an item we were looking for. We were pleasantly greeted as we walked in. We looked around while the shopkeeper, Bryan, helped another patron. We stated we were looking for silver rounds or bars and unlike most places that make you feel like you're a criminal by only allowing one coin out of the case at a time he allowed us to compare a few side-by-side. We ended up buying 50 rounds at an incredible price. We will definitely be back for more soon. We found our new favorite coin shop! The shopkeeper ever offered us Christmas cookies and was nice to our young boy. I wish we lived closer cause I'd probably be here everyday. read more

Don't waste your time trying to sell a family heirloom or special jewelry piece here. I heard about this business on my favorite radio station, whose name I won't mention here. His ad talks about buying your jewelry. Well forget it, this is a pawn shop, by all signs, a glorified shop where you are offered a fraction of your item's worth. He is there to make money off of you! In his eyes, you are the uninformed and stupid customer who has no idea what your piece is worth. With no respect for your beautiful pieces handed down from one family member to the next. My piece is a 14k gold, 14 inch necklace with large articulating and graduated links leading to the largest links at the nape of the neck. The piece weighs 21.9 DWT and 20 DWT = 1 oz. On the current market one ounce of gold is worth $1502.55. So even melted down, this would be worth that. But this schemer offered me $900. He lied to me and tried to cheat me and I would never go there again. Additionally, I had the original receipt from 1986 and proved it was given to me. If you are desperate for a few bucks, I guess get your measly portion of the item's value and walk away. Otherwise, I would avoid it. read more
