Today marked the beginning of the three day Great American Foodie Festival at Desert Breeze Park. Food trucks, gaming booths and music entertained the crowd making for a family friendly event. The numerous food trucks offered a variety of different cuisines, which, included, Tacos, Barbecue, empanadas, Pizza and several others. There were also options to satisfy any sweet cravings. I love baked mussels and saw this both offering both mussels and scallops. I opted for the combination, which, included both mussels and scallops. The mussels were delicious and had great flavor. However, the scallops were very disappointing. They were extremely small, lacked flavor and were covered by some type of noodle, which, made finding the scallops a bit challenging. The festival grounds are well designed allowing for easy flow while walking around. Tomorrow the festival opens at noon and the weather is expected to reach 100 degrees. So, arriving early might be a good idea. read more

I only visited the gated park area with my kids. Surprisingly no one needed the bathroom so I don't have any info for that department, but the playground was planned well for a wide range of ages. I like that they're close enough to each other also, that I could be pushing my youngest in a bucket swing, while my older two kids could be within view on the other regular swings or playing on the playground. The best part I liked was that it was an enclosed playground, so that made me feel a little bit better without having to worry so much of my youngest taking off, especially into a parking lot. She did take off to the field, though. Haha I feel like that, although this is a very large part, there needs to be more upkeep. Saw random trash here and there, and just parts of the park looked neglected. I feel like there could be a lot of potential to make this park better in so many ways with the amount of land here. But one thing that really bothered me that day... I really do not appreciate when people bring their family dogs into the playground area of the park, you know, the park meant for KIDS. And to clarify, this was not any type of service dog either. Service dogs are actually trained extensively that they will not try to engage with others or distractions, so I'm not concerned or have problems with legit service dogs. Even if the family dogs are on leashes, now I have to watch out for my kids getting too close to dogs for either danger reasons, or for their allergies. One lick can cause my son to break out in hives and swell up within minutes!! So thanks, now I have additional stress and dangers added on while trying to let three of my kids have fun at the KIDS playground. And to the dog owners- just because you believe your dog is friendly, it does not guarantee the safety of others around them. So many stories of family dogs literally just snapping at their owners for unexplained reasons. Also, kids may unknowingly get too close to your dog because they're having fun, not looking around for what allergy/dangers are present at the KIDS playground. It's no joke - even if your dog has never shown aggression, one "friendly" dog lick can cause anaphylactic shock to a child (or an adult). A kids playground was meant for KIDS to enjoy, not for dogs to explore. read more

Desert Breeze Park is huge and has really beautiful grass... definitely one of my favorite spots to bring my dogs. It can be nice and quiet at times, which makes it even better when you just want a peaceful walk or some playtime. That said, the park really needs more upkeep. There's often trash left around, and it takes away from how nice this place could be. I come here pretty often and honestly haven't seen anyone going around cleaning or maintaining the area. It would make a big difference if there were staff regularly checking and keeping things tidy. It's a great park with a lot of potential it just needs better maintenance to match how nice it already is. read more

We had our End of Season celebration, for the NYS/ Flag Football League/ 13U/ Winter season, last saturday afternoon- March 7th. Located across from the Community Center. Sunny but windy day. Also, lots of people with dogs. If they pick up their dog's poop, I say Kudos to you. Parking was packed. Due to the Opening of Little League. The Parking Lot was disgusting. I find it disgusting that kids and parents are trashing the lot, as there are lots of trash cans located throughout the Park. There was a bunch of snacks on the ground next to my car, and pigeons were poking at it. This is also where Practices are held. Hubby's the Coach, but this might be the last season fror him, with this group, as they will be aging out. When we were done with lunch we, the parents, played the kids; there were so many of us moms playing, probably the most ever. And a Little League Passerby, screamed in support of the Parents! It was a fun outing. Of course, we had to do cleanup, after the kids. read more

I really enjoy coming to this park! It's expansive, has walking paths, skate park, a dog park, playground, soccer complex across the street, and more! It's a great way to get your exercise on with an upbeat ambiance. Over the years it has attracted more homeless so be careful of here early or late, but otherwise it's a great expansive park with lots of fitness options. read more

It's a large park! If I understand correctly it is two parks. This one near the pool facility and across the street is the soccer fields. Lots of easy to access parking. Nice features. Very good for walking for exercise. I shall return for future visits. read more

Desert Breeze Park - Kite festival - Parks Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

It's a large park with nicely kept fields and separate dog park areas, for small and large dogs. It also offers a beautiful view of the strip. One of my biggest complaints is that many of the dog owners are inexperienced dog handlers, do not actively watch their dogs, ir are just plain rude. I've actually had an incident where a weird guy with his unbuttoned belly out and about berated me for asking him to take his hefty medium-sized dog to the large dog side. Unfortunately, there's often dog poop left behind by owners who either don't care and/or weren't paying attention to their dogs. Lastly, the dog parks have a lot of dirt patches, so the dogs will kick up a lot of dust and also come home filthy. read more

The general portion of the park is in the southwest section bordering Durango Drive and Spring Mountain Road. The grass area is patchy with green and dry areas, due to exposure from the desert sun. This part is bordered by a sufficient amount of shade trees and picnic tables. There is also a noticeable presence of homeless people here. In the southeast section, the complex of baseball fields is impressive, though made with artificial turf. There is plenty of canopy over the bleachers to provide shade for spectators. The far southeast section has a dog park that is impressive in size and design. In the north section, the soccer complex is easily the most awe-inspiring part of the park. It is almost entirely grass, with a minimal amount of cement path. The grass has dry patches due to the desert sun. The west half of the complex is sunken to double as a drainage basin. This may also provide some degree of relief during heavy wind. I like the inclined sides for running up and down elevation. There are some trees on the perimeter, but not enough to provide a continuous border of shade protection from the hot sun. The sprinklers during morning times are a necessary evil. The fence around the entire soccer complex keeps riffraff to a minimum. The immense size of the complex dilutes the presence of dogs and their owners to a minimum, which decreases the further you go to the west side. As impressive as the collective park is in size, it is only about one-third of the entire area that it may be extended to in the future: west-east from Durango Drive to Cimarron Road, and north-south from Dessert Inn Road to Flamingo Road. If that ever happens, it would be comparable in size to Sunset Park. I'm not sure why the city holds back on this. read more

Yelp Review 2023 #244: I've been to Desert Breeze Park a few times over the last decade. I've been here for festivals and events. And most recently, Paws in the Park. Whenever there's an event, they have helpful staff patrolling the parking lot to make it less chaotic. The parking is on a big dirt lot so, there's always that fear of puncturing your tires on a sharp rock or something. It's a big park. They have a field for soccer (you'll see huge soccer balls in different colors made of concrete at the front of the park), baseball/ softball, playground, picnic areas, and a place where you can take your family and fur babies. All of my visits have been pleasant. I've been to other parks in Vegas - some are smaller, dirty, and one with used needles on the ground (Sunset Park). Will I come here just because? No. It's far from home. There are restrooms. I've not seen a park restroom that's immaculate - this park is no exception. You do your business, wash your hands (bring your own soap), and go. read more

Main reason for coming to this park is for softball tournaments. Fields are ok, bathroom is clean and never have to worry about riff raff. Dog park is excellent, you'll find regulars there both in the enclosed area and walking laps. read more

I love this park. Although it's not all grass & it could use a little pick me up, the people & the dogs are super friendly. Raina (my pup) really enjoyed running around to all the people & all the pups that were in the park. It's a little closer to us then my favorite park; BARKIN BASIN, & it was a really nice change from all of the other ones that are just not up to par like some of the ones I've been too. This park is the closest one to my house so I easily come here 1-3x a week with my girls. Both the north and south playgrounds are nice and pretty well maintained. Unfortunately the north side playground used to have a door for the gate to the parking lot but... not any more? Overall it's very pretty. Well taken care of. Bathrooms could use some TLC. read more

This park is a real hidden gem,.. it is located at the corner of West spring mountain and cimarron and it has a huge soccer complex and a water Park venue, and a playground and nice meandering sidewalks for walking around. I came here for the Africa Day Festival and had a great time, if you have a family or you have a bunch of kids you want to entertain, this is a big Park to bring everyone and I think there's something for everyone to do. Big spacious park that's closest to where we reside. It's got a few baseball fields, a skate park, and dog parks. Lots of parking spaces. There's been some construction lately on durango and twain, maybe they're expanding? Been coming here for years. Cleaner than most parks in the city. Would recommend! read more

You know, when youre in the desert finding the right park can be difficult. Thankfully, desert breeze is a quick jog from where I live. I really wanted to find a place to jog. I found that this park has a lot of amenities. The activities offered arent just for running or jogging. This park has it all! There are soccer fields, baseball fields, little doggy parks, big doggy parks, tons of children playgrounds, theres a water park area! A few hills to roll down on. The trails loop around quite frequently. They also have a large skate park. The skate park even has designated areas for hockey. And importantly, the park has several poke stops! An overall great park. Plenty of space to run around between the two playgrounds, baseball field, basketball court , and the large amount of terrain. The playground is shaded pretty well, and the equipment doesn't seem to get hot. Some pieces of the park are currently under renovation, but they have t those small sections marked so you can't miss them. There are always plenty of kids and parents here, too. The neighborhood is nice and there are plenty of places to get food right on the corner...and the ice cream man also frequents this park. read more

After the long long time, some four hours at the DMV one needs to stretch their legs so here we are. This park is exciting and so full of energy too! So many different kinds of groups are here from a chivalry group of Knights to a group doing what looks like yoga stretches. It is a beautiful day to visit the park it has been hot today, but nice for Las Vegas at a high of 85. The park has so much greenness that it would rival a golf course. The playground has a huge slide and is covered with a large blue massive canopy to protect the kiddies from the heat and direct sunlight. Adults can play here too, I even saw parents getting their play on with their kids. It is so magical to see! The twins and I played in and around the park for only about 45 minutes and spent the rest of the time exploring the beautiful park grounds. It was so much fun to relive being a kid again and with my own children it also strengthen our bond as a family! read more

This is a huge park that I pass on my way to work every morning. It's centrally located and easy to find which I like! As previous yelpers' have mentioned there is a water park, skate, doggy, soccer sized field... you name it, it's here! Super clean... and at least during daylight/early evening hours when *I* would be visiting seems safe enough. Parks hold special meaning to me! For one I am a kid at heart that loves a good swing in the playground area. Of course playgrounds are meant for children so I'm respectful in that I will wait for an available "seat" when necessary. Parks in general (back in CA) used to be my retreat with a special someone in my life. Sadly I have not made much use out of them while living here because I don't have anyone to really share that "fun in the sun" atmosphere with. It's good to know that if and when the occasion presents itself... I know where to go. :) read more

I recently moved across town and since the weather has cooled off I finally got to take my small senior pups to the dog park. I found this park on an online search. While it's not as *fancy* as some of the dog parks I've been to in town, the dogs still had a ball. The fences are secure and have a long inner gate system so you don't have any escapees. The was hardly any dog poop left behind and the owners were all very nice and true dog lovers. Everyone had a great time meeting new dogs and the dogs meeting new dogs as well. They have these funny looking "flower beds" that are inset about a foot and a half around the tree like a moat. I'm not sure if there was or is suppose to be landscaping there but the dogs had a big time jumping inside of them and hiding from the other dogs while playing. It was hilarious to see their little ears poking out the top. There is a small dog side and a big dog side to the park. My only recommendation is to bring an old blanket to sit on as there isn't much seating for humans and bring a water bowl because the fountain doesn't have a dish attached. read more

Entitled dog owners who think they're the only ones who matter in this world. Small dog park area CLEARLY STATES that it is for dogs 35 pounds and under. My dog doesn't even reach 26 pounds and this lady with her giant stroller of little dogs screams at my dog saying "get out of here you're too big". My dog is the friendliest they come and she has never hurt another dog. My dog gently comes up and smells her dogs to introduce herself and this lady screams "shoo" and kicks my dog out of the way. What an entitled, heartless, dumb bitch. Don't bring your dogs into somewhere they're obviously going to be interacting with dogs as big as 35 pounds. She should never be around dogs and definitely shouldn't be owing them. Never coming here again. Just wanted to have my dog run around and have some fun, which she was doing until she was treated terribly for doing absolutely nothing at all. read more

This dog park is always busy. The main point is the park lack of grass. When my dog played with his ball there, you can see the sand flying over the air. Most of the dogs did not welcome any new comers so my dog was bullied during my three time visits. The dog owners just sit and talked, but never stopped their dogs to behave badly read more

Hands down, my favorite dog park in Vegas. Zeke and I always have a good time when we come here! The pups and people are usually pretty nice and friendly, and if they aren't, the parents have taken precautions with muzzles and/or keeping them nearby. For the most part it seems like everyone cleans up after their dogs so that's cool too. He park has lights at night so enjoying the cooler air while your pup plays is awesome! Huge park that seems to have everything you could possibly want. Although it is a little run down. They have a large dog park area. They have a baseball area and a couple of playgrounds for the kiddos. They have a really nice green patch the kids can run in. I think it's used for water retention too and that's why it has a nice hill to run down on. I enjoy the walkway here. Every time I come here someone is having a kids baseball game. I think this is where the kids practice. There is. Good amount of parking so you don't have to fight anyone for a spot. I haven't been here for any events but it looks like a large enough place to host Vegas next festival. In the afternoon you get really nice lighting. I have taken very nice pictures here. One thing I really like about the playground is that the floor is the soft floor so children won't get hurt if they fall. read more

Desert Breeze Park has been around since I think either 1999 or 2000. I had a chance to name this park but unfortunately didn't win THAT competition LOL I had been in Vegas since mid 90s and had seen this entire area develop. There were no fast food places across from the park before this park was done. This park used to be very popular with many events but with budget cuts and what not, there hasn't been celebrations like 4th of July here anymore. I remember use to coming to this park for 4th of July or standing across the street in the empty spot where McDonalds now stands.... Despite that fact, this park is still one of the best in the city. The park consists of a large dog park with area separations for different dog sizes, 4 baseball fields, 2 different basketball courts, a community center with lap pools and slides, area for soccer as well as a whole side for soccer only designed as a detention center, a few kids playgrounds, tons of bbq grills, skate park, roller hockey ring, etc Despite the lack of city hosted events, its still a park for other large events like Bite of Las Vegas, ExtremeThing, CrossVegas, etc Only downside is the fact they never built tennis courts as the original plans had. That was the ONE thing I was really looking forward to. super sad face ! It was great to see the park flourish with people when Pokémon Go first released in July 2016. It's probably been quite the while since the park had regular users... Hope interest for PoGo or something similar to come out to continue to heighten interest in having people go out and enjoy community areas. Many memories and such in the park. Hope it will continue to grow and develop. One favorite memory was seeing the soccer complex/detention center actually being of use and filled with water during a storm a few years ago. A dog park, a skate park, and a regular park, all in one- plus softball/baseball diamond, soccer fields, basketball courts, my new favorite trail, and even some graffiti art covering various maintenance fixtures! Those are perhaps my favorite part, need to make a special trip here to take and upload photos- you can't miss the Pikachu alongside Desert Inn just past the crosswalk. I usually come here for a quick trail run- it's a bit disorganized and the trail itself randomly ends going into the street, as if it originally was planned to extend over to the other side at one point? I just take the sidewalk the rest of the way around the perimeter of the park back to the car lots. Plan ahead and consider coming early or carpooling if meeting a group here- on weekends and late afternoons, the lots are completely full. There's usually space by the waterpark/pool, if you don't mind walking. Speaking of parking and walking- part of why this park doesn't have a higher rating is the people who come here and their inability to park properly. The dog park area has a red curb and lots of NO PARKING, FIRE LANE signage that is completely ignored, every frickin' day. Dude, if your dog can get around enough to GO to the dog park, they can handle walking across the parking lot. I won't even get into the Chair People, policing the dog poop and tailgating out of their SUVs for days on end. They need to get up off their butts and find a hobby. read more

I enjoy this park for many reasons. 1.) I love taking my dog Kaipo here. He gets to play with a lot of other dogs. Make sure you clean up after you dog. 2.) Basketball courts are pretty cool, not that great but it does the work. 3.) It has great open field for flag football 4.) Lots of sitting areas 5.) Love that there's a lot of things to do at this park. Great way to keep the youth out of trouble. read more

Big park but not the best maintained. The bathrooms were gross and needed to be cleaned badly. There are a lot of homeless that live in this park but they are away from the playground. Most everything is tagged with graffiti. The play ground is in working order and nothing was broken. There are plenty of basketball hoops and a skate park. I am not a huge fan of this park since I feel you have to keep a super close eye on your kids because it has a higher that's average amount of sketchy people. read more

This is our first time here and just the lap pool area is HUGE! Very clean and nice... so many lanes and it is open early and there is so many class that they offer... the girl that checks you was so nice and sp helpful... and it is so nice to see so many life guards on duty... it is only $3 bucks for adults and $2 bucks for kids and $1 for senior citizens... since it is freezing outside the water pools and slides are closed but they look nice and fun... we will be back to hang out to try those other things out... there is other facilities on the other side but i think that is a different fee... we still have to check what that side offers... read more

The park is very nice. It is adjacent to a soccer complex/ park which is kept very nice. It also has trails for walking, skateboarding, they hold activities there too. My biggest complaint is lack of security/ police presence. For example last night I want to go for a power walk where there were lots of people etc for safety. However ad I was nearing the end of my second lap I noticed that 2 grown men were exiting the park but stopped to peek inside my very tinted car. Thankfully they darted off after seeing me approaching them. That is why I give his part 3 stars, other parks have roaming park staff why not this park? read more
