    Rosita C.

Hi my name is Rosita, let me add some background information my mom shorty suffered a stroke 6 weeks ago, for the first 4 weeks she was at another facility. Towards the end of her stay I was advised to send my mom to a skilled nursing facility to continue working on her recovery/therapy. I was able to get her into a place not knowing what this place was going to turned out to a horribly wrong choice. With the help of my moms health insurance I was able to call DESERT COVE NURSING CENTER thanks to Crystal (I have so much gratitude for) was able to get my mom into a room, my mom has been here for 4 days thriving tremendously, she has been treated so well here than she was at the other place acute facility. So far my mom's strength has improved we are still working on balance and able to stand/walk without needing assist with determination we will get there. Thank you Desert Cove for giving me the peace of mind that my mom is being taking care of after hours and treating her with the upmost respect. Also the food has been great housekeeping wonderful; housekeeping comes in every day once a day. In my opinion if you are needing a short term rehabilitation I highly recommend desert cove. Thank you so much and may my moms stay continue to get better throughout the time she is here. Sincerely, Rosita Childers

im begging you do not put your loved ones in this place! they dont answer call light when you need help g-d for bid you had an emergency you could die before staff came. my mother had 2 broken legs so she cant get up from bed and they know this. they leave you in bed 24/7 and maybe get you up for pt for 30min with other patients therapist is working with. i myself been in nursing field over 40 years and never seen such a horrific place. ive had many different titled employees tell me either how bad it is to im new they have zero direction. i can go on and on i wish i can post a picture of my mothers butt to see the fungal infection she has and bedsores from this place. they will have you take your loved ones ama (against medical advice) if you leave with your loved ones. to top it off my mothers is a diabetic and they have given her regular trays with her sugar being 365 and above! please dont take this anyway other than information on a daughter reporting to you what care this place gives. i had to call 911 today its not good. im calling state and adult protective services on this place. very sad to have my mother calling me all hrs of day and night of " i need water i have no water" "please call them im sitting in poop for hours" "please call them im soaked in urine" oh and when you call the main number most of time nobody answers phone doors are locked at 630pm im sure you can see what kind of place this is. do not put your loved ones here as you will be posting a repeat unfortunately like mine. blessing to you all. stay well

Hole under sink covered with plastic and not even taped at the bottom. Mold all around the toilet. You can only see a little bit.

Every single person who works here has treated me with respect and has demonstrated a commitment to figuring out what to do to return me to fully functioning. At one point I hadn't been able to walk unassisted for over two years due to lower leg and ankle injuries and a surgery, and now I'm fully able to do that. I also have had a number of back issues including a fractured vertebrae and age related disc deterioration. It's amazing the amount of pain relief and return to normal functioning I've achieved due to the treatment here. The approach here each session includes personalized manual therapy and manipulation (so much more in terms of time and effectiveness than other offices) and a personalized exercise program, with attention paid to comfort level, correct implementation, and increased improvement. They provide take home illustrations to support continuing at home progress. They are skilled in Graston and needling therapies and I've seen patients ranging from teens to their 90s, with a wide range of challenges in their office, and everyone has been receiving personalized attention. I recommend them to all of my friends and family in need of physical therapy. Thank you Eric, Jason, Cris, Lyndsey, Ashley, and your front office staff! You are all amazing and so appreciated!

I could hear the front desk staff discussing how the Dr took the wrong patient and should have called my name instead, thus resulting in me waiting until 8:40am to be called and taken back. The Dr did apologize for not seeing me on the schedule. However, This set back made me late for work, and I do not appreciate this. I received much better care at the Gilbert location.

Santé of Mesa is probably the best rehabilitation center in the East Valley. In fact, it is the…read moreonly one I trust. I had visited a friend there several years ago and was impressed with the facility at that time. My mom fell in March, and after a week in the hospital, we had to go to a different rehab facility at first because Santé wasn't on her insurance. However, that place didn't take good care of her, and she ended up with a Stage 4 pressure sore and sepsis, resulting in another, much longer, hospital stay that included three weeks in intensive care. When she was ready for discharge to rehab that second time, Santé was covered by her insurance, so I insisted on going there. We were at Santé for about six weeks, beginning in June. Some have said in other reviews that the décor is "dated," but I disagree. The style is Southwestern, which is quite appropriate for Arizona, and it never goes out of style. The photographs on the walls are of beautiful Arizona scenery, and the rooms are set up like hotel rooms. Santé also has a Starbuck's café and some beautiful outdoor patios where guests can get some fresh air. The food here is much better than most hospitals and rehab facilities provide, and guests can order just about anything they can think of, even if it's not on the regular menu. Each room has its own refrigerator and microwave. Most of the rooms are private, so most guests don't have roommates, but the shared rooms are really semi-private, with each guest in his or her own separate space, and the kitchenette being the only shared area. The physical therapy gym is wonderful, with many different types of equipment for different needs, and the therapists encourage family to get involved in the therapy, which takes place six days per week -- far more and far better than the first place my mom stayed. The wound care nurses took excellent care of my mom's pressure sore. By the time we left, it had filled in far more than I had been told to expect, all thanks to their superior wound care. Everyone was happy to answer questions and help however they could. My mom's case manager, Angie, was very kind and patient, and she gave me lots of information about post-rehab care possibilities. With her help, we were able to get post-rehab assistance that worked best for our situation. I would also like to give special thanks to Nurse May, Physical and Occupational Therapists Cisco and the two Lisas, and especially Speech Therapist Aaron, who went above and beyond for us. I was happy to take my mom home when she was discharged, but I was also sad to leave because the staff all seemed like friends. Most of my mom's allotted rehab time had passed before she was really able to start getting back on her feet, but I'm happy to say that, in continuing at home what I learned while participating in therapy with her at Santé, she's now improved by leaps and bounds and is well on her way to resuming the activities she enjoyed prior to this misadventure. I look forward to bringing her back to see everyone after her recovery is complete. I can't say that there weren't ANY problems, however. One female CNA was changing my mom's brief one morning, and some fecal matter had gotten into her wound. I asked the CNA to make sure she cleaned it out thoroughly, and she tried to tell me that the fecal matter had originated IN the wound, which was impossible in this case. When she finally left the room, I finished cleaning out the wound and asked the wound nurse to double-check that it was clean. This same CNA also used my mom's phone charger to charge her phone without asking, which I found rather presumptuous. The only other problem I experienced was that I always took my mom's laundry home to wash, but I was gone for one full day and night, and during that time, they managed to lose one of her nightgowns. I provided the price of a comparable nightgown for reimbursement, but to date, we have received nothing. Those minor problems aside, the gist of the matter is this: if you or a loved one needs to stay at a rehab facility for physical therapy, I cannot recommend any facility higher than Santé of Mesa.

My experience with Sante of Mesa was extremely disappointing and concerning…read more During my father's stay, he was reportedly overmedicated to the point that Narcan had to be administered and 911 was called. This was a frightening situation for our family and raised serious concerns about medication management and patient safety. In addition, my father's foot wound did not receive the level of care we expected. The wound worsened significantly during his stay, leaving us concerned that proper wound care was not being consistently provided. To make matters worse, several of my father's clothing items went missing and were never recovered. While lost belongings may seem minor compared to medical concerns, it added to our frustration and lack of confidence in the facility's overall care and attention to residents. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this facility.

I was taken to a very cold room. I again explained why I was at the hospital. Four times before seeing a doctor. I was told to strip down and put on a gown, I explained that I cannot do this by myself, they stripped down in this extremely cold room put on a heart monitor (which was not even near the reason for being here). The female Dr. with a strong accent came in and first thing she said very rudely "What is your emergency." I explained for the fifth time. She said "there is nothing I can do." I said "why"? She again rudely said "We only handle life threatening issues." I asked her to explain, she could not even describe what she considered a life threatening issue. She only repeated same tone thre times. I asked "do I need to be litrally dying". Then started to judge me and insulted my intelligence. Then it was on!!! We had blows!!!! I'm not proud of my behavior and the exhaustion of the drive got the best of me. I needed compassion and clarification, not rudness obscurity. THE ONLY REASON I GAVE 3 STARS IS THE HOSPITAL STAFF SHOWED COMPASSION. I should have been told at registration or at triage this hospital is only for seriously death or life. I would have gone to a different hospital.

Before my son was born, I went through and read a lot of reviews from…read moredifferent hospitals and was nervous about going to Banner Desert - where my OB delivered. I could not have had a more dramatically different experience than what I saw in the reviews - it's safe to say that the management has heard your concerns! We came in at 9:30pm to a very full labor and delivery floor - cancelled the inductions for the day & a woman had been waiting for a delivery room for 7 hours longer than me... Things were not looking too promising. The nurse in triage, Kristy (I hope I'm spelling that right) moved MOUNTAINS for us. She continuously let us know what was going on on the floor and how my labor was progressing. When there was no delivery room available and the nurses were literally spread to their max, she found a way for us to get to a room to help alleviate my pain and welcome my son into the world. I have never felt more looked after than I did with her. Following that, the postpartum ward was delightful! The team that works in there is extremely respectful and caring. Food wise, pretty good! Not the typical icky hospital food that you hear about! If you get the chocolate chip cookie, put it next to a piece of bread for a little bit and it isn't as dry & oh so much more yummy! I hope & pray that everyone gets to have my experience! Even the OB who was on call... I don't know if I would have remotely the same delivery experience if it wasn't for him & his gentle encouragement throughout - you are the best Dr. Canestraro!
