DFCU is very unorganized.. They continue to make mistakes in my account and give me lame excuses. They try to be nice, however if you file bankruptcy its get difficult. Take all your money out or they will. Even though I was told they would still allow online access to my account, it was 5 month later, then they disabled my access.& closed my debit card without any notification. So I went inside and started telling the teller a story about my recent visits to KFC. I told her how I went to the KFC near my house once about an hour or so before they closed and I was told they were out of chicken. So I scoffed and drove away. About a week or so later I went back to the same KFC (I REALLY wanted their chicken sandwich) but this time it was WAY before they closed. Guess what? THEY WERE OUT OF CHICKEN!!! So I went on to explain the reason I was telling her this story was because before I went inside the branch, I pulled up to the ATM, and before I could go any further, she got a big nervous grin on her face and bowed her head in embarrassment because she already knew THE ATM WAS OUT OF CASH!!! Purpose: get a loan to establish a credit record. That's how we met Gloria. An excellent, experienced Loan Officer who worked hard to get our nephew's personal financial seeds planted and watered. She cleared the path. Accounts established. The little Yelp prompt flashes "value, value, value!" I'll comply. Because our nephew's sister has an account, they each got a $100.00 addition to their accounts. I know from a half-century of credit union finances, fees are very low. Credit Unions also have staff. This review actually applies to Desert Fin Visa credit cd. Visa contacted me about a balance transfer of over $11,000 + $555.02 processing fee to another bank on 12/11/25. I said I must have been a victim of identity theft and since the transaction was still pending, please cancel and close the Visa cd. 6 days later the transfer of over $11,000 did indeed go thru even though I had requested a stop. During this time I spoke to so many reps/fraud investigators who could not explain why the transaction went thru. This happened just as the holidays were approaching, made me very anxious and nervous, so I could not use the credit card. Finally, on Jan 8, 2026, I received a call from a fraud supvr informing me the monies were credited back to my account (a full month later). No real explanation was given. Needless to say I will not be using their credit cd in the future. read more

I've been with this credit union for 3 years. today I had a problem with my checkbook and went inside the institution for help. the young woman would not try to help balance my checkbook. she told me no one uses checkbooks. everyone does banking online. then she told me to help me would cost $5 per hour. but she refused to even look at the checkbook and said there was nothing she could do or anyone else there! I'm sorry that I'm a senior and do things I guess the old fashion way. The gal working at 9:10am on Wednesday Aug 2nd at the transaction line with brown hair, olive skin, absolutely beautiful. Was extremely unprofessional and I wish I could give the business five starts and her one but that's not the case. I went up to the transaction line after being called over and pull my ID out of my bag as I get to the counter...mind you my hand is out of my bag with ID before I put it on the counter in front of me and I am in clear view of the teller as she picks her purse up off the floor, places it on a chair with her back to me, and reaches in for lotion. I adore DSFCU, and have been a member for many years, starting in the early 1990s. When I went through a divorce and my credit was in the toilet, DSFCU was the only bank that would give me a loan for a car; thank goodness! At the time, I was a teacher with 2 small children, and I REALLY needed a car to get to work and my kids to school. Now that things are much better, DSFCU has all my money and investments, this is the best bank around. read more

I mostly do drive thru at this location but the few times that I've gone inside, there has never been a wait for a teller. Some transactions do take a little longer especially if you happen to get a new employee that is in training but other than that it is quick and friendly service. read more

Drive thru was fast and efficient. Lines were not long either. Teller was very friendly. The branch is a cute little location off Alma School and Baseline rd.. You can see there sign from the street as long as you are paying attention. Location is not very busy all the times just on Thursday and Fridays of course. I recently had my purse stolen and had to cancel all my cards and checking account. No communication between departments which resulted in my checking account being compromised. This should have never happened because I had contacted the bank several times and gone in to a branch to supposedly put security measures in place. I was happy with bank up to this point but have found that they lack properly trained staff and protocols to protect its members. read more

Went in to pay off a loan via shared branching. Needed to have them fax confirmation of cash payment to my credit union to expedite a title release. I've now called five times and still not had the confirmation sent to the proper receiving party. When I called the fifth time, I reached a central hub and spoke with an extremely rude female who hung up on me when I requested to be transferred to someone at the specific branch I'd gone to earlier in the day. Long story short: I will NEVER do business with this institution again. I know financial institutions are notorious for bad customer service, and I've dealt with my fair share of banks and credit unions in the past; this one takes the cake for absolute worst customer service. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE WAS THE WORST PEOPLE IVE EVER TALKED TO IN MY LIFE.... Worst bank I've ever had to deal with... I called to get business account number, simple task, after numerous attempts of having to hang up and call back, they finally gave me a number, the WRONG number on purpose after we exchanged words.... That's got to be illegal and she needs to be fired. Then she even has the nerve to freeze my account while I'm out of town and can't go into a branch when they're clearly in the wrong.. I had an account here a few years ago. After not having used the account for almost a year I contacted them about closing it. I had originally had about $20 left in the account, but due to "non-use" fees they had billed my account , it went negative and was at $-15. They said I called just in time before they reported it to the credit bureaus. They made me show up in person at the Credit Union and pay them $15 to close my account. The account would never had gone negative if they just closed it for non-use. Real classy. read more

I recently went into a branch and had another person put on my account as a joint on my account - this never was completed, and I found out about a month later - I do not live in Arizona, so I made a special trip to Mesa to complete this banking transaction plus some other transactions that was easier to do in person. Now, my account does not show the other person as joint - how can a mistake be made like this????It makes me wonder how many other mistakes this credit union makes. The people in the branch are very nice, but the telephone service and internet service stink! Really need to look at how your systems are set-up to serve the customers. I belong to several credit unions and this one is probably the worse one I've dealt with. I would move my money, except my other family members have their accounts there - I feel trapped! Not at all happy! Desert schools put my family in a bad situation today. I usually transfer my disability check to desert schools every month. Today i went to transfer my money and the teller typed the wrong amount. The tellers inaccurate keystrokes forced my disability check to be frozen for up to 5 days. The bank acted as if it was not their fault being they were not the ones who froze the account, totally missing the point that if the teller would of executed her job right, i would not be in a situation where my daughters seizure medication is due as well as my rent. So i'm hoping my daughters last dose of medication does not wear off before i get my money. The other part is i will have a 3 day eviction notice on my door on the 4th. STAY AWAY From Desert Schools Federal Credit Union!! They screwed me and I will never do business with them again. I recently moved to los angeles where there are no desert schools, but I still have car loans with them, so when it came time to make my payment I called Desert Schools up to ask if they had a sister branch in California I could make the car payment through. They said Priority One in LA, so when I went to priority one to make my payment, all their systems were down and they said won't be back up for at least 4 more days. So I called desert schools and asked what my options were considering my payment was due in 3 days. They told me to mail a payment, which I sent one out that day. 33 days later I got a call from Desert Schools asking where my payment was and that it had gone 30-days late!... I explained to them that I sent the payment out on time, and they took another look at their account and realized that they did receive my payment, however since it was 2 days after the grace period, a $18 fee was assessed, and because I didn't include the $18 fee (which this was the first time I even heard about the fee) they didn't count my ENTIRE payment, causing it to be 30 days late and it going on my credit report! At the very least someone could have told me the day I was making the payment that I would need to include a late fee, OR at least could have called me 10, 15 even 29 days after they received the payment, but not the late fee to warn me about it. Instead they wait until the 30 day late was on my credit. What a unprofessional and sly company... they lost my business. read more
