So I went inside and started telling the teller a story about my recent visits to KFC. I told her how I went to the KFC near my house once about an hour or so before they closed and I was told they were out of chicken. So I scoffed and drove away. About a week or so later I went back to the same KFC (I REALLY wanted their chicken sandwich) but this time it was WAY before they closed. Guess what? THEY WERE OUT OF CHICKEN!!! So I went on to explain the reason I was telling her this story was because before I went inside the branch, I pulled up to the ATM, and before I could go any further, she got a big nervous grin on her face and bowed her head in embarrassment because she already knew THE ATM WAS OUT OF CASH!!! WTF?! A bank running out of cash might be WORSE than a chicken restaurant running out of chicken! But all was good, we had a good laugh, and I got the cash I needed because the entire BRANCH wasn't out of cash... Just the ATM! I would have given 5 stars because she was such a good sport but, I mean... The cash thing, ya know?!

Oh the pain. Two older adults helping a 21 year old family member at the desk of a 30-something Loan Officer. We mentioned checks and checkbook. Younger generation bursts with laughter. Not a problem, not my life. Our next generation in the family is bonkering over Desert Financial CU. A niece got tired of megabank charges, started banking at Desert Financial on her aunt's advice. Lots fewer fees. Our nephew is planting financial seeds. His life was on an ADP Chime card. Became to Desert Financial because his sister recommended it. Purpose: get a loan to establish a credit record. That's how we met Gloria. An excellent, experienced Loan Officer who worked hard to get our nephew's personal financial seeds planted and watered. She cleared the path. Accounts established. The little Yelp prompt flashes "value, value, value!" I'll comply. Because our nephew's sister has an account, they each got a $100.00 addition to their accounts. I know from a half-century of credit union finances, fees are very low. Credit Unions also have staff. Credit Union staff are always wonderfully helpful. Should you open a Desert Financial Credit Union account? That's your choice.

I mostly do drive thru at this location but the few times that I've gone inside, there has never been a wait for a teller. Some transactions do take a little longer especially if you happen to get a new employee that is in training but other than that it is quick and friendly service.

We all have a favorite place to bank and so do I. I love banking with Desert Schools. My husband and I have been members for years. I love the fact that their notary services are free. I never feel like they are trying to rip me off as I have with Chase, Wells Fargo and other nation wide banking institutions. The staff there is always helpful and I don't feel pressured to buy into any of their services. If you are new to the area and need a bank I recommend Desert Schools over all the others.

This institution, which I once trusted with my finances, has revealed itself to be a soulless machine that prioritizes corporate greed and incompetence over the people it claims to serve. Next week, I'm closing every single one of my accounts--not because I want to, but because Wells Fargo's relentless failures have left me no choice. Unlike them, I have the integrity to handle this face-to-face, a concept their spineless leadership clearly doesn't grasp. Let's start with their so-called "customer service," a term I use loosely because it's an utter sham. Most of their support is outsourced to call centers outside the United States, a slap in the face to American customers like me who run U.S.-based businesses and expect domestic accountability. When you finally get through their infuriating phone maze, you're met with representatives who are either clueless or outright dismissive. Case in point: a senior supervisor, who I'll call "JoJo the Monkey" since Wells Fargo refuses to provide last names or employee IDs for accountability, had the audacity to laugh at my legitimate concerns. When I asked if he was an attorney or part of their legal department to justify his pompous lecture about "the law," he cackled again, mocking my frustration. This isn't service--it's a deliberate attempt to belittle and alienate a 40-year customer. The final straw--and the reason I'm done with this pathetic excuse for a bank--is their handling of a $158.07 dispute that reeks of fraud. I reserved a full-sized car through Thrifty Car Rental (unbeknownst to me, now owned by the equally deplorable Hertz) for a critical business trip in Augusta, Georgia. Upon arrival at the airport, a lying, manipulative counter agent claimed there were "no other cars on the lot" and forced me into a compact Nissan Sentra instead of the promised Chevrolet Malibu or similar. This wasn't just a minor inconvenience--it was a bait-and-switch scam, plain and simple, especially egregious given my upcoming knee replacement surgery, which makes compact vehicles physically unbearable. In Augusta, with limited Uber or Lyft options, I had no choice but to accept the subpar vehicle to attend business meetings and scout housing. I needed a car, but I expected and deserved what I paid for. When I disputed this fraudulent charge with Wells Fargo, I expected support from a bank I've trusted for four decades. Instead, I got incompetence and betrayal. JoJo and his band of bumbling colleagues dismissed my claim, insisting it wasn't bait-and-switch or fraud despite it fitting the exact legal definition of both. Their reasoning? I "accepted" the vehicle--ignoring the fact that I was coerced with no viable alternative. To add insult to injury, Wells Fargo demanded the same paperwork four separate times during the dispute process, closing my case prematurely and forcing me to call repeatedly to confirm they even received my documents. This isn't just negligence; it's a deliberate tactic to wear customers down and protect corporate giants like Hertz/Thrifty at the expense of loyal clients. Meanwhile, as Wells Fargo screws over long-time customers like me over a measly $158.07, they have the gall to run ads bribing new business account holders with $400 bonuses. Let that sink in: they'll throw cash at strangers while refusing to stand up for a family they've served for 40 years. It's a disgusting display of misplaced priorities and moral bankruptcy. Their leadership is a masterclass in incompetence, hiding behind anonymous supervisors and refusing to take accountability for their failures. They reward fraudsters like Hertz/Thrifty while punishing the very customers who've kept them afloat for decades. Wells Fargo's entire operation is a disgrace. Their outsourced, unhelpful customer service, their spineless and mocking "leadership," their refusal to fight for customers against clear fraud, and their obsession with profits over people make them unworthy of a single cent. I'm done with this vile institution, and I urge anyone reading this to steer clear. Take your money to a bank that values you--because Wells Fargo certainly doesn't. One star is too generous for this cesspool of a company.
