I am writing this review regarding my experience with Desert Orthopedic Center and Eisenhower Health. On 10/09/2025, I underwent a bursectomy performed through Desert Orthopedic Center at Eisenhower Medical Center. I was discharged after surgery without a splint on my elbow. Within a few weeks, at a follow-up appointment, the physician observed that the surgical wound had reopened. I have photographic documentation of the open wound. I was then informed that I would require a second surgery to close it properly. On 11/10/2025, I underwent a second procedure to repair the wound. This time, I was sent home with a splint. I then endured another full month of recovery, additional medical appointments, additional time off, and additional physical and emotional stress. Despite the fact that this second surgery was necessitated by the failure of the original surgical outcome, I was billed for the second procedure. It is unreasonable and unacceptable to charge a patient a second time for corrective surgery when the initial procedure did not heal properly. In addition to the financial burden, I experienced prolonged pain, inconvenience, extended recovery, and disruption to my life. I am formally requesting a full billing review and appropriate financial resolution for the second surgery and related follow-up care. Patients should not bear the financial consequences of complications that stem from their medical care. I urge both Desert Orthopedic Center and Eisenhower Health to review their post-operative discharge protocols and billing practices to ensure accountability and prevent similar experiences for other patients. read more

If you have a choice, look elsewhere. I did not, as this was was emergency surgery after breaking my femur in four places. There is zero follow up care. Never saw a physician prior to my hospital discharge. My sutures were supposed to be removed after 7-10 days and could not get an appointment to do so. Finally had to get a home health aid from my insurance company to remove them after 22 days. It took five weeks for a follow up appointment to see a PA and I was released to do in office physical therapy. However, the referral was done incorrectly and my insurance company needs a new copy. It's been a week and 20 calls with no response. It's impossible to get past the central phone desk. They give every impression of being helpful, and promising to make the messages urgent, even implying they're reached out to their supervisor. Nothing ever comes of it. They double bill your insurance carrier and you end up paying two co-pays for every visit. In 4 visits never saw a doctor, just PA.

It is next to impossible to reach anyone. You call into a lame call center and generally wait 45-60 minutes before they answer your call and after you leave a message with a call center agent, mostly nobody returns your call. It is extremely frustrating trying to reach anyone. read more

Nope. Cancelled my appointment same day because Dr Bosley will not even see you until you have an X Ray first. "standard protocol". Is that pre-approved for my insurance? What is this going to cost? My mom had her knee replaced and the doctors PA's and nurses were all wonderful. All questions were answered and they repeatedly called to check in to make sure she was progressing well. As a nurse myself, I would recommend Desert Orthopedic to anyone that needs an ortho specialist. read more

This was my second visit to this place. I am so thankful to have them here in the desert. Everything is so clean and well taken care of. My doctor was most attentive to my problem. He is very knowledgeable and really knows his stuff. His name is Andrew Allen. He gave me several options to cure my problem. I got a new cast and was surprised at the number of colors I could choose for a cast. I very highly recommend this place. read more

Horrible patient care, so worried about money ! Called 4-5 times over the course of 4 days trying to schedule a appointment they would take my information down and say they would call me back ! Upon finally speaking to someone they tell me no we don't see car crash injuries! Mind you I have insurance which sent them over a APPROVAL for the referral and when saying he is being referred to you guys due to the severity of my son's fractures ! It's urgent ! Answer to me is well what is we don't get paid ! I said I will pay any doctor fees to be seen even though you guys have a approved referral stating that my insurance will cover ! Trying to get to see Dr Frescia regarding my ankle, saw his PA on Feb 6th, was told my ankle was shot and needed surgery (ankle replacement). Set an apointment for April 15th so it could be looked at again and given an injection to help me on my trip to Europe and set operation date. Get a call from Dr Frescia's office, he can't see me on that date, next date is JUNE 12th, is is playing golf for 2 months??? What the heck. Need to find another ankle doctor. read more

My wife recently fell inside our home injuring her elbow that required surgery. Dr. David Savin explained the procedure to her beforehand and answered all our questions. The surgery included the insertion of a metal device to replace the broken bone. She was on her way home within a couple hours after surgery. It's now been two months and the stitches in her elbow have dissolved and the scar is barely visible. The best part is she has recovered approximately 90% of her elbow movement. He did an excellent job and I highly recommend his services. He is very professional and has a very likable personality. read more

My husband was advised to make an appointment with Desert Orthopedic Center, by Eisenhower Emergency. He went to ER on 4/7, after falling and breaking his wrist. To date, we have made 5 calls and still no call back to schedule an appointment. It's been 4 days. Not a huge fan of this facility because they are spread out on 3 floors and you have to go to THREE DIFFERENT floors !!!!.... In the same visit to get a) seen by doctor, more than likely it will ONLY be the PA. b) get an xRay c) get your crutches, cast , boot or wheelchair d) get physical therapy for your injury. By the time I was done here.... It had taken 2.5 hrs almost 3 !! AND I was exhausted from using crutches the whole time to get everywhere !! read more

I am an 18 year old student athlete who was having patellar dislocations. I was about to get an appointment at the ORTHO with Dr. Murphy (PA) to discuss my issue. He sent me for X-Rays and MRIS. I had them. Come to find out I have a damaged MPFL, along with some other issues in my knee. He recommended an MPFL reconstruction and Lateral lengthening. I agreed as I would rather get this fixed younger than older. I had my surgery date scheduled a week after this appointment for a week from that date. So I had surgery 2 weeks after review appointment. (Dr. Diltz was my doc back in 2021 when I tore my glute and hip labrum). Dr. Diltz was my main surgeon, and Dr. Murphy assisted. I had the surgery and it went SO well. Quite painful tho lol. Ended up needing a VMO advancement as well. (Anesthesiologist was amazing as well.) I am now 3 weeks post op and am going to PT here. I have had ALL my post ops with Dr. Diltz. He is an amazing surgeon who cares about his patients. read more

Somehow we were able to find Dr. David Friscia, an Orthopedic surgeon that not only has an amazing educational background but has performed so many successful procedures that he has perfected what happens before, during and after. I had 3-D Lapiplasty surgery including 3 other toes performed by Dr. David Friscia on January 2022. After reviewing his education, experience and some reviews, I chose him to do my surgery. To my deep regret, I firmly believe that he is inept as a doctor and toe/bunion surgeon. He is an extremely poor communicator & spends very little time with you to explain your condition and surgery and basically is more interested in setting a surgery date. I didn't see him after my surgery until he showed up at my 3 month post op appt. During the three months, I only saw the PA who told me he couldn't answer all my questions because he wasn't the doctor, but the doctor was never there. I expressed my concern over my damaged toes that were disfigured and I had suffered so much pain, stiffness & nerve damage for months, and could barely walk. I went back to him at my six month post op because I could barely walk, and every single day the deformity, stiffness and pain were getting worse. Dr Friscia barely looked at me and sat across the room at his computer and I asked him to please come over and look at my foot, and he told me that he could see it from there! He didn't give me any explanation as to why my foot was so disfigured and basically just asked me when I wanted to set up another surgery! He lacks compassion and empathy. Also, after that appointment, I got copies of my office visit reports and I found a lot of inaccuracies there. I also looked at my surgical summary written by Dr. Friscia and wrote that he had operated on 14 sites, but he only operated on six... insurance fraud! After my six month post op appt with Dr. Friscia, I went to two other doctors to see if they could help me with yet another surgery. The first orthopedic foot surgeon said it was too risky, and there was too much damage that was done to my foot by Dr. Friscia and he said he could not operate on my foot. He said I may have to live with it. Then I went to another doctor who took an x-ray of my foot and showed me exactly all of the surgical errors that have been done to my foot, and what he could do to help repair it. So I went in and had a second surgery with the "good doctor" who I have utmost respect and admiration for because of his skills and is a great doctor. What a difference between two surgeons! This last year has been devastating to live with disfigurement, pain and damage that Dr. Friscia did to my foot. I want to make it clear that Eisenhower Desert Orthopedic Center was excellent in every way and I do not have any complaints towards this facility whatsoever. The reason that I am writing this, is I want to make other people aware so that they will not suffer as I have. BEWARE OF HAVING SURGERY WITH DR. FRISCIA! I also have a good friend who had the same surgery that I had one week later with Dr. Friscia, and his foot was damaged, almost as bad as mine was. I have noticed other reviews with people who have had ankle surgeries with him, and he seemed to be OK with that. But if you have bunions or toe concerns, I would not recommend him. read more

My surgeon is incredible, skilled and smart. I've had two separate back surgeries (14 years apart). That said, the admin staff is impossible. The least empathetic, unkind and poor mannered I've ever experienced. Every call or question gets the same response, "Take your meds, ice or go to an ER if you are in pain. My husband, Tom, had a total knee replacement in March 2023 and is doing so well that he says he wished he had the surgery a lot earlier. If you need a new knee or hip, this is the guy to do it. Had been years ago for back issues-great doctor for that issue. Their front office/admin personnel are a mess. Recent visit was for severe left hip pain. Could not see doctor, had to see PA-not a big deal. Visit lasted 5-10 minutes-looked at xray, said no bone issue you have bursitiis-do these exercises. Pain did not go away, primary sent a referral back to them for an injection asap. Primary also sent one to sports medicine clinic, as he felt that may be a better choice. Sports medicine clinic called for appt same day. Desert ortho didn't call for 3 days-so I finally called them. Was told appt desk could not schedule an injection-had to go to the injection appts-they didn't pick up. Called back-front desk said they would send an urgent request to injection desk to call. That was 2 weeks ago-never heard. Meantime sports med clinic called again, so I just went there. Guess Desert ortho doesn't care about their prior patients or $$! read more

Cruella at the front desk is the cause of the one star - well, I'm going to throw the entire front office staff into the same bucket. Where does Eisenhower find them? I'm sure the doctors have no say, at least I hope not. Too many things to even mention that are wrong with them. Lots of luck getting an appointment- and do not bother using my chart to schedule one, you can request til the cows come home using that method (though the vmx refers you to mychart) and you won't get one. I asked if I can bring what I have because he's in pain and they said no. The appointment girl had to call the referral department to request his referral. I did get a call later that afternoon to schedule appointment and the next available is not until May so basically it's gonna be a month since his injury. I had the absolute displeasure of going to DR JOHN DESANTIS. If you want to be treated like a piece of garbage, then by all means go to this jerk. Spent all of 1 1/2 mins in the room, came in sat down, ignored what I was saying. Told me to never work out again......who says that?? Because I didn't need surgery $$$ he had no interest in my well being. Walked out of the room without saying if you ever need surgery come back and I'll take care of it. #NEVER Charged me a ridiculous amount of money for 1 1/2 mins of his time and now even after I paid and my insurance paid him, I keep getting extra bills constantly that I now have to call and spend an hour on the phone trying to make them understand that they have already been paid!!! I have been seeing doctors at DOC since 1992. First time was for a torn medial meniscus repair. 2 times 10 years apart (injury at work). Then carpel tunnel, bilateral (both wrists), trigger thumb release left hand, trigger thumb release right hand, trigger index finger release middle finger right hand and then this latest a week ago trigger finger release middle finger right hand. I am an avid crafter and MUST use my hands a lot so I need a Quality Doctor and surgeon. DOC at Eisenhower Medical Center are the best. Dr Lamb (RIP) was my knee guy and Doctor O'Connell is my hand guy. You can't get better care that at DOC. read more

I have been discussing a possible knee replacement with a surgeon here, and also saw a surgeon about my foot--would NOT use the foot guy (see Nancy B.'s review of 2/7/2023)---but this review is about the extreme difficulty trying to communicate with Desert Ortho's office. I have never had to wait so long on hold, be misdirected so many times after finally speaking with an agent or ended up in endless, useless loops so repeatedly with any other doctor's office I've ever dealt with. These highly paid surgeons need to give up a tiny slice of their enormous personal gain to hire some additional help. I like the people I speak with when I finally get through, and the staff I encounter on my visits and I do like my knee doc as well. But I am seriously considering not having the TKR there just so I don't have to deal with the extremely lousy customer service. I'll go to LA if I have to. read more

I showed him where my pain was and he said why are you even here? Who referred you? He Did not asked about the pain or anything about my previous visit to various other specialist. This group of doctors have decided to have their clinic at Eisenhower on Sunrise and Taquitz. Well, be aware that you will be billed for the physician's services (I was given a PA and not MD) AND Eisenhower Facility, My office visit was about $300 , and Eisenhower billed my insurance for "facility" charge of $1200. Friendly staff. After a 30 minute wait I was called back. Nice clean back office. Everyone was in a chipper mood. My doctor came in with another doctor who was there to observe.
