I had a great meeting with the Dr. Cassim on my extensive back issues, as well as other significant health issues. I suggested that I would like to start physical therapy with someone who could adjust the physical therapy procedures to strengthen support for my back, taking into consideration some major internal abdominal scaring. The scaring causes quite a bit of pain when trying to do sit ups, etc. I also discussed with him most likely needing injections in the future, not right away, as I am not a candidate for any type of back surgery. On my follow up appointment 2 months later, I'm seen by the PA, not the doctor. The PA literally skimmed through my file, spent maybe 3 minutes with me. I doubt he heard any word I said about my previous physician determination of my hip and leg pain source was coming from. He only pressed on my hip, which of course there was pain. From that one little action, and NOT viewing any X-rays or CT scans, he determined I needed a SI Joint rhizotomy (burning of your nerve). I was in utter shock. He spent basically no time to really review my file. I said fine to what he said and I have never looked back. For me, any doctor who immediately wants to do any type of surgery after the first visit, without seeing any physical scans is NOT someone I want to burn my nerves. I already had this type of procedure done in my brain, the chief of Neurosurgy at a very well known hospital. That did not turn out well. My advice get other opinions before you let them do any type of surgery. Some nerves take longer to grow back; and there's a possibility of the nerve hurting more. I have been seeing Dr. Cassim for over 10 years. He has treated me for my cervical spine, lumbar and thoracic spine as well as the sacroilliac joint. He has always given me good advice and handles all procedures with injections carefully. He listens to me as a patient if I explain how I am feeling during the process. I first saw Cassim over 4 years ago for neck and lower back pain. Injections didn't work nor was I a candidate for nerve block. His PA, Guiles, suggested Hydrocodone, an opioid, so I agreed, that was 3 1/2 years ago. Now Cassim has cut me off the meds and told me to go to Loma Linda. What kind of doctor does this to a patient, basically cutting me off cold turkey. I reached out to patient coordinator at Eisenhower and she got him to give me two months supply. CDC emphatically states that you do not stop those meds "cold turkey". You can read that all over the internet. Because they don't make any money off of me by prescribing my Hydrocodone, they have sent me down the road. He has no compassion other that to make lots of money from procedures. He is a terrible doctor and just there for the $$ read more

I'm 66 and have led an extremely active life. Despite abusing my body by running and a lifetime of sports, I've been lucky because I haven't experienced any serious problems. In my mind, I'm 35 and until a couple of years ago, my body was OKAY with that ....... but then things changed. Long story short, my history finally caught up with me. I tweaked my lower back jumping off a stool. At first, I thought it was just a sprain, but the pain became EXTREME. It felt like someone hooked my lower back to car battery. I experienced numbness in my right leg, ankle and foot. This progressed to "drop foot" where my right foot would flop out to the right when I finished a step. For you older folks, it was like Festus on Gunsmoke. I consulted with Dr. Macwan (another fine doctor) who diagnosed my condition as spinal stenosis. He then referred me to Dr. Cassim. After examining me, he suggested I consider a Rhizotomy. I had never heard of this before but was happy to explore a potential solution that wasn't surgery. During this procedure, they dissolve the offending nerves which eliminates the pain. In order to qualify for this outpatient procedure, they administer a couple of lower back nerve blocks to see if they substantially eliminate the pain. If so, you're a good candidate for the procedure. In my case, the initial nerve block instantly eliminated almost all of my pain. Same was true when they did the second nerve block a few weeks later. I had the procedure a few weeks after that and it was a tremendous success. In my case, it eliminated ALL my pain. Couldn't believe it and I've been going strong ever since! Can't say enough positive things about the procedure, Dr Cassim, his PA Michael Guiles and their nurse Melissa. The entire team is great, and they provided me with life changing pain relief. Not sure why there are any negative reviews - I received the highest level of healthcare from this incredibly professional team. read more

Dr Cassim is my hero he's the "Rockstar of Injections. He is one of the most compassionate, caring and health conscious doctor for your pain issues. I have been seeing him for my lower back pain for last couple of years. He always knows what to do to get me active again and he listens intently to my concerns. I started seeing Dr. Cassim a couple of months ago. I have chronic pain from RA and Fibromyalgia. I was having severe neck pain, headaches and lf arm numbness. What a joke. I took my 21 year old daughter to him for undiagnosed all over pain. His entire assessment was to have me walk to the wall and back, in my shoes, then touched my arms and legs with a tuning fork asking if it felt the same on both sides which it DID NOT, but all he said was "well, you're not going to die, but I'm not able to treat you so I'm referring you to Loma Linda". My Hero! This is just an update to say more of the same good and great things about Dr. Cassim. I've seen him five or six times over the last year or so. Yesterday I had another couple of injections (L4 and L5), with him yesterday he is incredible, precise, professional, inspires trust, and he is calm and friendly, and he passes that calm onto you. I had a really bad experience with the last procedure like this while living in San Francisco a decade ago, I unexpectedly woke up under general anesthesia during the procedure, it was equal to a direct hit from a lightning bolt from my head to my toes. So knowing that with the topical anesthesia I would be wide awake I went in very anxious. He reassured me it would be simple, that this would be so much better than going under general anesthesia even without waking up and not to worry. He was right! I'll never do General again when I can get away with it, I feel GREAT today! Thank you Dr. Cassim and the calm and friendly staff too. read more
