We needed some low-sitting floodlights to replace the original hat lights for our new putting green, and for extra low light in our "social" area. Sam came out to Estrella Mountain Ranch to look at the yard, give an estimate, and then review fixture options. He came back to install them when they arrived from the mfr and everything looks great...and then I decided we did need the "one more" light that Sam recommended originally. We had an older lighting system that needed replacement; while our existing landscapers wanted to do the work because of their familiarity with our property, I was reluctant as they did not provide much commentary as to what lights should go where. I contacted DLL - Sam came out soon after reaching him - he diligently walked the entire property, took notes, inventoried our systems, and then walked the property with me, letting me know his thoughts as to what lights to use where. Over 45 different lights were involved. It was exactly what I had been hoping for, as I am not a lighting expert by any means, but wanted to make sure certain aspects of the property (desert landscaping, architectural features, and general lighting) were addressed. He provided a quote the same day after going through his thoughts. The quote was very reasonable considering the scope. The quote also did not include a wholesale change to the system - the controllers were still in good shape, were of good quality, and were more than adequate for the overall system needs. After approval of the scope and agreement to do the work, the installation went promptly and was completed on time, and on budget. He was able to repair all the landscape lighting on our property with ease and confidence, even taking the time to educate on how I could perform simple repairs in the future. What impressed me the most, was how he was able to trouble shoot a problem with our landscape lighting that we have had since it was initially installed by another lighting professional two years ago. Sam did an amazing job replacing our 10 year old broken landscaping lights with new LED path, spot, and tree lights. Before Sam's work, our one acre yard was dark and spooky. After an initial consultation, Sam returned in the evening to walk the property with my husband and me to get an understanding of the property's lighting needs. Then he presented his suggestions for light type and placement, brought several lights to demonstrate the effects he would create, and gave us the estimate. My wife and I recently arrived in Peoria and there were some issues with the outdoor lighting at our ten year-old house, so I scoured Yelp and found Sam. I called him and he came out the following morning at 7:30 am. It turned out to be a more complicated series of issues, but Sam stayed at my house for several hours. He solved the problems he could solve right away and said he would come back after another appointment. I thought, sure you will. Two hours later, Sam was back with new equipment that was significantly cheaper than I would have been sold by someone simply looking to separate me from my wallet. The lighting system was one that Sam had never seen before, but he searched the Internet to find solutions via instructional videos from the manufacturer. Then, he contacted the manufacturer's representative and scheduled a visit from him because some stuff was under warranty. The system works wonderfully now. Sam just installed our full front yard and backyard lighting, and it looks amazing. Uplighting on our palms, in-ground spots on our larger trees, and accent lighting on the front of our house. All in all, about 15-20 individual lights. This guy is a true lighting professional. He is not some landscaper who just "puts in lights", Sam only does lights, and he has been doing them for years. He brings all sort of ideas to the table to maximize the impact of your investment. He will offer you a variety of light options at various prices, but provides you with an honest assessment of each, and is indifferent to the units that you select. In fact, he recommends what is best for your yard. It's all very high quality equipment that is nothing like the Malibu landscape lights from Home Depot. Installation took place about 1 week after he quoted the job and the job took 1.5 days. The work is absolutely beautiful - 24 hours after installation, I literally could not find where he ran the wiring, and I know where it was supposed to be. Concrete? No problem. Multiple zones with individual switches? No problem. The lights are there, but I honestly cannot find how/where he wired them, or how he ran the wires from the transformer. I was thinking about doing this project myself, but after 15 minutes of talking to Sam, I knew that I was A) Crazy for trying to do it myself B) he was the only guy that I needed to talk to. Honest, fair, highly skilled, and very professional. He is even coming back to make some small modifications for me, now that the project is done, and I wanted some changes.
