I wanted to get a second opinion regarding the treatment that was recommended to me. I completely respect that dentists have their own professional recommendations, and I understand they may believe certain procedures are necessary. However, I also believe patients have the right to seek a second opinion before making a decision. Since I currently have no pain, discomfort, or concerns, I asked if I could simply receive the basic cleaning that my insurance covers. I was told they would not provide it because of other treatment recommendations. While I respect their policy, it wasn't the outcome I was hoping for. I then requested copies of my dental records so I could consult another dentist. I was told I needed to sign a release form, which was fine. The office sent the form by email, but it ended up in my spam folder, so I didn't see it until Monday morning. Once I found it, I completed the form and went to the office to obtain my records. Throughout the process, I felt like I had to work much harder than necessary just to get information and access my own records. During one phone call, I explained my situation to an employee, and instead of telling me she was transferring me, I was placed on silence. A different person eventually picked up, and I had to explain everything all over again. Overall, I left feeling like communication could have been much better. I respect the clinical judgment of the providers, but I didn't feel the office made it easy for me to ask questions or obtain my records for a second opinion. Based on my personal experience, I would choose another dental office in the future. And on top I asked I'll be there in 20 min to picked my records and I showed up 1 hour later and still made me wait to do what I asked. So unprofessional service.

Went in for a new patient consult and cleaning. Left with a referral for a root canal for tooth #2…read moreand an estimate for over $900 deep cleaning. Not sure how this was determined, because it was a rushed job. Simply looked at a few teeth with a mirror and made the determination. Did not even have the x-rays in the room to go over. Sought a second opinion from another dentist, who determined that #2 tooth was healthy and #30 was not. The irony is that he used the x-rays taken at Gentle Dental. He also used other methods and conversation that a place emphasizing profit over care would not be concerned about. In any case, this place is either selling services not required or incompetent. Either are disqualifiers. If proper care is expected see a true dentist in private practice and not a dental mill.

The office staff has more than once overcharged me and then it is very hard to get them to refund the money in a timely way. Once could be a mistake but more than once this has happened and I suspect it is deliberate. They tell me I have to pay the exact amount my insurance company pays when my part of the bill should be less. It appears as though they think I won't look closely at my insurance statements afterwards and won't catch the mistake. It's very suspicious.

I don't want to yap about myself, especially when other people's hands are in my mouth, providing a service! Sparks Modern Dentistry is on Epic's electronic medical record, and I loved that I could see the images and the information on the screen. The Smile Generation branded MyChart patient portal was excellent for providing the patient care notes. At my other dentist, that part has always been a black box, because they are on a different practice management system that doesn't have a patient portal. Dr DePrado determined I needed a new crown to replace my very old compromised crown. I agreed. She asked Brandon to review my payment costs as my dental insurance does not cover replacement crowns. I was happy with the negotiated price. To my surprise, the replacement crown was completed and set in place within 2 hours. So very happy. The patient care I received from Dr DePrado, Mea, and Brandon was exceptional and outstanding. They are an asset to this dental group and I will continue patronizing them because of this outstanding one on one patient care. I will spread the word about Sparks Modern Dentistry. A dentist who is overeager can cause a patient to need a root canal by drilling out too much tooth and getting close to the nerve. They will say they have to remove all the decay but it's really a judgement call and their calls are solely based on money not the patients health. Go elsewhere

I have been a multi-year client of the Vista Dental office and the team deserves the "full 5…read morestars". This period includes Dr. Thomas and recently, the transition to Dr. Vong and Dr. Avendano. Bruna has been my routine hygienist and her technical skills are brilliant, top-notch. In particular, her ability to sonically clean and to measure my receding gums with the absolute minimum of discomfort speaks to her fabulous technique. In a joking fashion, sometimes I think she's just saying the numbers because there is no sensation while probing the gum line. Additionally, I want to mention Amber and Jada who filled-in for Bruna during a recent absence and they too, demonstrated a high level of technical skill and competence. More recently, I needed updates to 6 existing fillings and had been a little reluctant to have this work completed. Dr. Avendano and his assistant Crystal were "beyond my expectations". As a team, they were fast, efficient, and treated me in a manner that ensured I was comfortable before and during the procedure. Most impressive to me was Dr. A's ability to deliver anesthesia by needle with NO sensation of a needle prick. I was aware that he was working in my mouth to prepare for the procedure and then, "poof", the area was numb. No jab, no pin prick, no burning. His technique is incredible and I remained comfortable for the entire procedure. Should you be facing some over-due dental work, or are simply in need of an excellent hygienist, I would confidently recommend the team at Vista Dental.

I am in the IT field and could not help but notice how their data that they're trying to collect from me as excessive and they seem to have lost my data either through negligence or through a hack. I am not sure.. button either case that is a lot of data to lose on a patient. I no longer trust going to this location even though I have been there for many years they seem to have gone through a transition of ownership as well, and that seems to be where everything went south. Their hygienist are fine. It's just the people that run their business in their office.
