Additionally, both times I felt grateful for the fact that everyone in the office was very respectful about my choice to decline preventative care (as a general rule, I go to a doctor only when there is a problem, and good nutrition is the only type of preventative care that I ever employ). Being a healthcare professional myself, and working in healthcare, I know how hard it is to find a doctor who is skilled, honest, and respectful of patients' choices. A clearer approach would be to directly ask whether a patient has ever been diagnosed with periodontal disease or been told by a dentist that they require deep cleaning or scaling and root planing before booking. In my case I already had that diagnosis, and I would not have scheduled the appointment if that had been CLEARLY asked or explained. I scheduled specifically for a cleaning, completed the exam, and was then told the cleaning would not be performed while still being charged the full fee. The issue is not clinical judgment but that the service being advertised does not clearly match what patients actually receive or under what conditions the cleaning will be denied.

I and my daughter had explained VERY thoroughly that she has severe trauma and anxiety. I was told I could stay with her during the procedure as her support. Everything seemed fine when we arrived. We were taken back to get her ready. I was sat in a corner. They gave her oral medication to relax her before IV sedation. Then, the assistant comes in and says, "Ok, it's time to move you back out front." I explained AGAIN about the trauma and anxiety and my daughter's wish to have me there with her. I was told the dentist would not allow it. I am frustrated, worried about my daughter, and angry that, KNOWING that she had a very bad history with dentists and suffers from anxiety, they were not transparent at all about this policy, but instead sprang it on us out if the blue AFTER my daughter was already being prepped with medication. This is unethical and wrong. I am hoping that everything turns out ok for my daughter. But, I am very disappointed in what I was hoping to be a good experience. I am amending my review to state that I will NEVER bring my daughter back to this office. My daughter was to be given IV sedation. She was told over and over that she was going to "take a nap." I'm going on 73 years old and this was a scary thing to face. Now 24 hours later I have minimal pain. I likely won't need Ibuprofen today. I took Ibubrofen twice yesterday. I was definitely in some pain once the numbing medicine wore off.

Instead, they exposed me to unnecessary radiation against medical advice. My Wife's Appointment For her, she requested only the bitewings and full-mouth X-rays that our insurance covers. Instead, she was pressured into a panoramic X-ray because the dentist insisted it was "better," even though panos are not the standard tool for detecting cavities. Again, this was performed before any exam, along with an iTero scan, even though she specifically stated she was not interested in braces and have perfectly straight teeth. After completing the exam, I was unexpectedly asked to return 20 minutes later for my cleaning, something that felt inconsiderate of my time, especially given the office name, "It's Your Time Dental." Overall Concerns Both of our visits followed the same pattern: diagnostic imaging and scanning were performed first, without clinical justification, and without respecting our patient preferences or medical history. This approach felt more focused on billing for equipment and procedures than on patient-centered care. Dental care should prioritize safety, communication, and individualized treatment and not unnecessary radiation exposure, pressure tactics, or questionable billing practices.
