He chose not to call, prompting me to write this review. As part of my visit on 9/24, before the cleaning I specifically went there for, the dental assistant performed a gum charting exercise (if not familiar, it's an easy Google lookup to describe what the charting numbers mean). For each tooth, she read out to her assistant 4s and 5s. A 12 year old failing implant had a much higher reading I'm sure was accurate. Dr. Noll told me I need a deep-cleaning to the tune of approximately $600...I subsequently saw my periodontist a few days later to evaluate the old implant. He performed another charting that revealed 2s and 3s. I then asked if I'd benefit from a deep cleaning, and I guess because of professional courtesies between doctors, he reluctantly told me I won't benefit from the procedure. It was the difference between what I was told at this appointment and what my periodontist said that led me to move on.

I had a very challenging case of poorly kept college teeth, bad initial work from another dentist/dental surgeon, and he picked up the pieces and got my smile stable. He was in it for the long game, worried about keeping my original structures intact as much as possible, but taking care of the repair work as necessary. He even saw me on a couple emergency occasions to repair prior fillings that had fallen out. I've been coming to see him for years, moved further away from his office, and chanced a cleaning visit at a dentist closer to my new home in the north Peoria area, during COVID times. NEVER again. That new dentist suggested a whole plan of unnecessary work to rack up expenses. I freaked out and went back to Dr. McIver, he went over what the other dentist spoke about and discussed what he would do if needed. We monitored it and it ended up being unnecessary after all. I'm one year out from the other visit, no additional work, regular cleanings and good self care w/Dr McIver's team and it's heaven. Yes, dental work is not cheap, but Dr. McIver is a great clinician. He does what's right for your dental health.

I was told I could not receive my routine cleaning because I needed a deep cleaning and that insurance would not cover a routine cleaning. We were then presented with treatment estimates. The paperwork listed a highly inflated UCF (usual/customary fee), an "estimated fee" at about 1/3 of the UCF, and showed primary coverage at only 12%, leaving us with a patient balance of over 87%. Arrowhead Dental Group are an in-network provider for our plan. We were also told our Aetna Dental DMO plan "is the worst plan." Our plan documents clearly state 60% coverage for major services. My husband's estimate to replace 2 crowns (both are almost 40 years old) was $2,708 estimated fee with a patient responsibility of $2,372. We contacted Aetna directly to verify costs. Aetna confirmed what our costs should be. We then went to another Aetna DMO in-network dentist for a second opinion. That office will do BOTH crowns for a total of $772, which is exactly what Aetna said the contracted fee should be. Arrowhead's estimate was $2,372 vs. the correct contracted total of $772. As a dental office, they should know how to check and bill DMO plan coverage correctly. Presenting an estimate that is 3x the contracted rate and showing only 12% coverage on an in-network DMO plan is misleading and unacceptable. We will not be returning.

If you know this ahead of time then start the cleaning and the doctor can pop in when he has a chance during the cleaning. Be warned, ask for the cleaning while the hygienist is with you or you will wait forever for the doctor and you have to reschedule for the cleaning. The ultimate recommendation, Go somewhere else!!

A human answers the phone every time I've ever called (during business hours)!! It amazing. This office gives me the feeling of dentists offices from the past where we weren't patient number blah blah blah.. They've always treated Brian and myself like family and give us the feeling they really care. They know our names and although we typically visit separately because of our schedules, everyone asks "how's Brian?" or "how was the wedding?" Signaling that they've taken the time to remember things about their patients and care about our lives outside of just billing our insurance. The dentist came in they gave me glasses because the light was advised to be bright, the dentist didn't spend more than 30 seconds looking at me before he said okay you're done, there were not any lights turned on I felt like how could he possibly have done a thorough assessment. I had to schedule a second appointment for a cleaning and I knew I had to take care of a cavity so they told me that if I come in for my cleaning the next day, I can't take care of my cavity because they're tend to work half days on Thursday which I don't know how they can expect that to work for anyone that has a day job. I can't take three consecutive days off just to accommodate the schedule of these dentists. When I explain this to the dentist he promptly said, fine you can go somewhere else. That did not come across as great service and I'm not satisfied with this dentist. I would not recommend going here. Secondly I asked for a quote on my son's wisdom teeth, they printed me a price that was over $3,000. We recalled getting a quote for the same thing 6 months ago and the cost had doubled. I had to ask about this specifically before they realized that they use a different billing code this time and unless I mentioned that the price was different I doubt they would have brought it up. Also if you have a credit with this dentist they will not tell you, unless you ask. This is not a good experience at this dentist. UPDATE: after a comment was made by the business about calling to correct my bad experience, the practice manager advised that she had not read my review and that's her marketing team and they don't have time to read reviews and they don't care about one-star reviews. I questioned everything in my review and there was not any accountability made or apologies for the experience. They said that they only staff one hygienist and if they don't have time, you don't get a cleaning. Don't expect quality service and don't expect accountability from this office for their bad service. UPDATE 2: if you call and give them feedback they will cancel your next appointment without even calling you. They do not want another opportunity to make things right. They ended up deciding they wanted to cancel the relationship with the entire family of three of us in the household that went to this dentist. They didn't care that my wife was halfway through her orthodontic Care. I wanted to give them an opportunity to earn my business back so I kept my appointment but they canceled it without any communication. And then after all of that they text me the same week to ask me about calling their office for scheduling my cleaning.
