I only docked one star because getting in touch to schedule or hear back from the front office can be challenging and even a but frustrating. But once you get there, the service is great. The staff does not understand universal precautions and simple handwashing. You see techs walking the halls in gloves and going room to room without changing them. No sinks in rooms for handwashing. No hand cleaner on wall. As a public health nurse I find this unbelievable. Went in for pain in a molar. Needed a root canal. Root was fractured too far down and the endodontist who was very good stopped the procedure and stated I needed extraction. Paid in full for procedure. They billed my insurance 6 x what I paid! Had the tooth pulled. The DMD did not want to use sedation which was fine. Stated it would only take 5 minutes. He did not read that they had tried to do the root canal. The tooth came apart and 40 minutes later her was still trying to get the tooth out. He damaged the crown next to the tooth. I came down with thrush and a upper respiratory bug a couple days later. I paid cash for the procedure at the rate they quoted. They billed my insurance $6000! I will be reporting this and finding another dental practice. read more

New to the area. I have seen the dentist every 6 months since I was 3. I am 70 now. I went to my dentist where I moved from in December 2024. I moved in May 2026. I had absolutely nothing wrong with my teeth in December. I went to Sundance and now I need more than $5,000 in dental work? Not even 1/2 covered by my insurance. From a deep cleaning to antibacterial rinsing during my cleaning, to a crown, etc. While I understand that I may need a crown. Those crop up occasionally. The other stuff is just a ploy to get more money out of you. My old dentist warned me of places like that. He assured me before I moved that my teeth/gums were in really good shape. I would be wary of this place for sure. These "doc in a box" places generally are rip offs. So many doctors and employees they have to pay. They have to make their money somehow I guess. His name was Anthony, I'm not sure if he's new but from the moment I interacted with them, he was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Instead of offering assistance or answering my questions respectfully, he spoke with an attitude that made me feel unwelcome and disrespected. Customer service is a reflection of a company's values, and unfortunately, this interaction left a very negative impression. I LOVE this dentist. I have been coming here for years, I've gotten many fillings, a root canal and my wisdom teeth pulled. All of my appointments are fast and informative. I leave with a solid understanding of my dental health, and my bill. I do not have insurance, but the self pay options they have here are great. I see Dr. Zhu and she is a dream dentist! So gentle and efficient. After charging me $600 out-of-pocket and then telling me they're going to bill my insurance for the crown of 2400 and the end 2000. I think I'm done but oh no I got to their office for an appointment and they told me I owe them another $1600, I asked why and they said my insurance did not cover it. I called my insurance and they said no bill was ever present to them a month later I still get another bill and call the office and tell them why don't you bill my insurance two weeks later they bill my insurance for that service and it was paid by my insurance, but they charge my insurance $6000, I think these people are dishonest read more

Can never get a call back from anyone at this office. We always get told we will receive a call back from the office manager and we never do. There has been an issue with my husband's account for months, and it's still not handled correctly. Services were rendered in January and it's now September and we're still waiting for our full refund. It should not be this difficult to issue a refund. Then they "called" and left a voicemail (strange we never got one) that they again had to move my appointment up. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! My appointment was 9:30am, I didn't get taken care of until 10am, which is 30 mins later but that was just for x-rays. Then, I got taken to the room where they do the cleaning and 30 minutes go by then the doctor checks my x-rays, shortly after, another doctor comes in to check my gums. An hour of waiting in that room goes by and I finally receive my teeth cleaning, which took 30 MINUTES. They wasted 2 & half hours of my day, I left at 12pm when my appointment was at 9:30am for a SIMPLE 30 MINUTE cleaning. I'm guessing they overbooked their appointments, which is completely unprofessional and shows very poor management. Thanks for giving me the time to write this, do better. read more

Worst experience EVER at Sundance Dental. I had an appt, went in had xrays taken, saw the dentist, still sitting in the dental chair and the desk clerk comes in and tells me they don't have my insurance info. I have been going to them for years and used the same insurance the entire time. I gave them my insurance info and then they tell me they don't accept it. If they didn't have my info or accept my insurance why not tell me when I made the appt. This is the first dental clinic that took all of my health needs into consideration when performing treatments and cleaning. I needed specific accommodations in the materials and the protocols used and the staff not only understood that but were actually supportive and helpful. I am used to getting ill from products used in most health practioners offices - the last one caused anaphylaxis a few weeks ago - so I was concerned about going to a new dental practice, but they answered all my questions in advance and worked with all my specific health needs. I had absolutely no problems. They were able to fix a broken tooth with an overlay in one visit, and could have done the same had I opted for a crown. They actually understand and use modern technology to the benefit of their patients. The staff was very personable while also being completely professional. I am here in Arizona temporarily and my dentist and doctor are both in California... but I really needed to have some procedures done asap and couldn't wait to get back to my usual dentist in the summer.. so I looked online and read some reviews and chose to give this place a try. I was impressed by the amount of modern technology since this is a small town compared to Los Angeles.. but they had the same digital systems and even some lab and crown stuff done in-house. Everyone was super nice and the dentist and hygentist were both very patient and concerned. I hate going to the dentist and I move so much that I never really get everything taken care of at once... it wasn't cheap, but the experience was very professional and as comfortable as can be expected for a dental procedure. I went back to Sundance Dental on 2/1/10 to have the recommended work completed and must say I continue to be impressed with the staff who work at this office. Jay assisted Dr. Richard Ashton and he was awesome. I am a dental coward and he made me feel comfortable with my 3+ hour ordeal. I arrived a little early and was taken back at my appointment time, no waiting. Dr. Ashton and his entire staff explained what they were doing as they performed each procedure. I had one of my crowns replaced that had cracked and the new procedure for this is nothing short of amazing. Everything happens in one visit and I felt the pricing was comparable to similar procedures I have had done in the past. Over all I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for dental care in this area. I was so pleased I made an appointment for my husband, he was also happy with his visit. Im officially done coming here. I don't appreciate the condescending feeling that I got from the dentist about wanting to do my filling without any form of numbing. If you don't feel comfortable, I get it, but you don't need to try and force it on me. I won't ever do my fillings that way especially when I've had them done without any form of numbing before. On top of that, after this conversation, somehow there was not enough time to complete my cleaning. You don't get to talk to me as if I can't make my own decisions and then completely waste my time.
