Updated 2023. The roof DeShazo installed didn't hold up over time. It leaked multiple times, the first within weeks of installation, then in 2018 with significant damage to walls and ceiling. The most recent in 2023 resulting in ceiling damage and potential electrical damage. I really wish I hadn't hired them. read more

After I first called Deshazo and Son--whom I absolutely do NOT recommend--two nice-seeming guys showed up and mounted my slate roof above where the inside ceiling showed water damage. They said I needed a new channel ($$$), which I'd suspected. They'd be too busy to do repairs for some time--they'd send an estimate. They turned to get in their truck and leave. [ changed "seemingly-lovely guys" to "nice-seeming guys" because the first sounded sarcastic--unintended ] "But what about the LEAK?! Two days of rain are due!" I yelled after them. "Isn't there something you can do until the repair to see me through?" Thank goodness I asked, and they came back and put something on with a caulk gun. For no one from DeShazo and Sons has been back since, or shown any inclination to give a flying fig that my interior plaster ceiling may fall, and wood rot and black mold may take hold in my roof and walls. [ Mr. Deshazo said that his guys patched my roof for no compensation. True. It is my normal practice to tip those who come out and do services for me. But in all fairness, I was expecting to see these guys again, and tip them THEN, when they fixed my roof for real. Moreover, I was a bit rattled: Roofers called to fix a roof leaking so badly the ceiling beneath showed damage were leaving without offering a temporary remedy? I must not understand the nature of the roofing business. Surely it makes sense for a temporary fix to be OFFERED--for recompense, if it consists of more than a moment's squirt of sealer. My fix, btw, was a moment's squirt--one guy was no sooner up than he was down again. ] When I called the office, I got a "Oh I'm sorry" and "I don't know why that happened", and "we'll take care of this". But afterward? Still no estimate. [ I said earlier "no one" gave a flying fig. I'd forgotten how very nice, and I think sincerely sorry, the woman who answered the phone was. So I apologize for inadvertently slighting her, which she did not deserve. ] I looked on a review site to see which roofer my neighbors most recommended and it was Mr. "X", who who works for Deshazo and Son!! So--Is it that they have only one competent guy, and he's busy out moonlighting? Don't know. Don't care. What an epic example of P-poor customer service. Maybe Deshazo and Son do great roof repairs when they bother to show up. Hire them if you want to find out, and you don't mind that they treated me, a stranger to you, like unimportant garbage. [ Mr. Deshazo objected to that comparison. I agree that my mood after weeks of being ignored caused me to overstate the negative: I was not treated "like garbage" at all, initially. Only subsequent to that. ] --O. Babe * I was not happy that the guys mounted my roof by leaning a standard ladder with no stand-offs or padding against my front gutter, which bore their weight when they leaned forward over it to step onto the roof. My gutter on the opposite site shows the ladder indents of the last guys who did this--who also assured me of no damage. To be fair, nothing was damaged this time, but it could have been, and my guess is, has been on other people's houses. [ Mr. Deshazo objected to what I said here about ladder use. I see nothing untrue or unfair. I most certainly did not insinuate, as Mr. Deshazo says, that Deshazo and Son employees "stoop so low" as to "arbitrarily" "go around...Richmond smashing in people's gutters". His words would indicate malicious intent. I do not assume anything intentional, except, possibly, on the part of someone who would try to twist the words of another to suit their purposes. ] read more

So disappointed with the lack of customer service. I had them come out and give an estimate. We received the estimate and agreed to have the repair work done. I emailed a signed copy of the estimate and called each week to attempt to schedule the work to be done. I have called every week for the last 3 weeks and am told each time they will call me back. I have never received a call back. We now have a leaky roof and still cannot get a call back from this company. I feel they lack customer service and at this point If they cannot even call me back how can I even trust they quality of their work. Poor Customer service and very questionable integrity. read more

They did a shingle and flat roof on my house. The workmanship and price were very reasonable. If you have leaks that could be caused by bad siding, gutters, or chimneys, mention them during the quote. They had to come back out to address some leaks around my flat roof coming from cracked mortar in my chimney. read more

I needed to replace my roof immediately due to insurance reasons. I called around and got 5 estimates. Deshazo and Son provided the most clear and concise proposal to me within 24 hours. Matt took the time to answer all my questions and was able to move around schedules to replace my roof within a week. They even price matched another offer I received. Absolutely the best roofing company in the Richmond area! The front office staff are professional and very friendly. The roofing crew showed up bright and early and never stopped working. A great group of guys with extremely wonderful work ethic.They kept the work site clean and organized. Matt, the project manager is top notch at his job. Our roof suffered major damage from a storm and our insurance company did their initial inspection and paid out the cost for the damages. I felt there was more damage and called Deshazo and Son and they sent Matt (he gave up his lunch hour) to inspect my roof. He found quite a bit more damage and took pictures, worked out an estimate and sent it to my insurance agency. The insurance agency agreed to come back out and walk the roof with Matt. Matt was actually off of work the day the second inspection was to take place (his wife had just had a baby) but he willingly gave up his day off and walked that roof again pointing out the damage that was missed. We ended up getting a considerable amount covered by insurance and that was ONLY because Matt took the time to go up there with the insurance adjusters. I can not sing his praises enough. He is professional and extremely knowledgeable at his job. We went with a total roof replacement and could not be happier with the work and professionalism of Matt and the entire Deshazo company. Matt Corker and his team are top notch!! DeShazo & Sons is located not too far from our Glen Allen home. So, of course they were our first call. But if you know anything about me, I am a fanatic about calling around to get proposals for the best price. The only problem was that we were in a time crunch because we needed to have the roof installed before putting our house on the market. I called a number of roofers and most couldn't perform the work for another 6-8 weeks, because of all the hail storms. I told Matt my dilemma and he came to our rescue. He and his Team assesed the damage on the roof, took pictures for the insurance company, and had the job finished within a week and a half. It only took his guys 2 days to install the roof!! These guys took a while to come out and give me an estimate. Unfortunately they said in an email that I needed a whole new roof. They didn't even talk to me. I was really bummed that they wouldn't talk to me on the phone and discuss what their reasoning was. They almost made lose the deal with the person buying my house. It sucks when you are trying to find good contractors from across the country. We finally asked our landscaper if they knew someone, that person was out within two days, showed us a video of our roof and was able to explain how he thought the roof could last an additional 10 years and that a minor leak was the only fix needed. read more

Someone was out to look at my leaking roof within 24 hours of my initial call. Unfortunately I havent heard from them since. That was over a month ago. I had to use someone else because I had a leak that needed immediate attention. I cant imagine doing business with a company that doesnt follow up. & yes I called them 3 days after my inspection and was told the guy would get back to me.
