I called to have my skylights replaced and my roof inspected. They came out and provided me options from repairs to full roof replacement based on my issues. Nathan clearly broke out the numbers and provided an honest and fair assessment of what each option would offer. Why wouldn't you trust a local company who grew a business on referrals? That was 20 years ago. My neighbor used NRR after the hail storm last August. I loved what I saw. The team was courteous, neat and appreciated the case of Corona. It was March - not even hot yet! They even spray painted the air vent pipes black! Anxious to see how the new Ridge Vent works this summer. My 1966-built rancher has always been hot. My skylights were installed 18 years ago, and they've held up so I did not take NRR up on their suggestion to replace them. I did however upgrade the Shingles to the Certainteed Landmark Pro - and glad I did. I can tell the difference. I spoke with the rep for Certainteed and she advised that NRR is ranked a top installer. // I did entertain Absolute Roofing; their "area manager" contacted me after I signed a form requesting a bid. My insurance company said they wanted $24K to replace roof. NRR did a great job for less than 50%. AR threatened me with lawsuit. Good thing I signed their contract: "Permission to contact USAA denied". Hope this helps! read more

Upon inspection of the job, a representative saw my concerns of a broken floodlight, due to material falling on it and a loose shingle beside the gutter, which were repaired within a week. ROOFING REVIEW - If I could leave ZERO stars I would. My poor grandmother had a squirrel enter her home through the roof, make a nest, and chew through the ceiling in her bedroom, leaving debris everywhere. Apparently, we needed to specifically ask for a roof without holes in it. How silly of us. Why would I assume I have to specifically ask , and then pay extra for, a roof that keeps animals outside of the house? How would I know a standard roof from this company doesn't include a drip edge? (Or even what a drip edge is, or why it's necessary to keep animals out of your home and chewing through walls?) The response this company gave to the situation was truly shocking, embarrassing, and low. No responsibility was taken. read more

I have used Nathan's in the past and I was very satisfied with their services. However, this time I contacted them in early January for a roof inspection. They never showed up. The individual I communicated with was very good at making promises to show up and was very apologetic when he did not follow through on the promises. But, he never showed up. Setting aside the one time he had a valid excuse (ice storm) there were four separate promises made to conduct the roof inspection none of these were followed through on. read more

Nathan showed the most interest and concern about my issue. He scheduled the work, and then a wonderful crew of the nicest men you would ever want to have working on your home arrived for the job. They were polite and pleasant - a real joy to have around for 3 days! I had a new roof installed by Nathan's 3 years ago. A month ago I saw that one of two skylights they installed in our den, was fogging up. I called them and a team came out to inspect. They found that the skylight was defective and agreed that they would replace it at no cost to me. Wow, amazing! When the day came to replace it, Bubba contacted me to say that the new skylight had a light blue tint and that it would look different than the originally installed one. I said that I did not want one clear and one blue one ... and the result was that they replaced both skylights at no cost to me. This took no arguing from me; they were super friendly, super helpful, super willing to do the right thing. I cannot imagine getting better service. Thanks for being amazing Nathan's!!! read more

On April 1st, 2014, I contracted with Nathans Roofing to resurface the walk-out deck adjacent to the back of my house located in Glen Allen. This is a second floor deck with an entrance from the master bedroom via patio doors and from outside steps leading up to the deck. The deck had outdoor furniture in place and is clearly a deck made for outdoor use. The existing surface had 3 seams that were pulling away creating water leakage to the room below. In meeting with an estimator from Nathans Roofing, I expressed that seams were an issue for me and I wanted as few as possible when the new surface was put down. I was told by the estimator that he would use a 10 foot wide material that would give one seam or a maximum of two. I was informed that the seams would not be visible nor would they come apart. After meeting with the estimator, I signed a contract that the work would be done according to the estimator's explanation to me of how the repair would be done. I was at my residence when the work team from Nathan's Roofing arrived to begin work but had to leave to attend to other matters through-out the day. Upon arriving back to my residence, I inspected their work and was not please at all with the work that was performed. I made my dissatisfaction known to the workers and to management at Nathans Roofing. These are my issues with the work that was performed: * The roof consisted of multiple seems and patch-work areas, not the 10 foot wide materials with few seems as told to me by the company's estimator. * Low spots remained in the roof area as I was told these would be corrected with the new resurface by the estimator. * Underlying nails were noticeable and would punch though over time if walked upon. Again the deck is made for outdoor use as viewed by the estimator when viewing the job. * At a later date, and doing research on my end, I learned that the material used was not made to walk on. The surface is slippery as I fell when I walked on the deck for the first time. * The surface is bright white in color, greatly reflects the sun and is uncomfortable for anyone sitting or standing on the deck. * Seams around the deck edges and post are uneven showing a sticky yellow substance that will never dry. This is astatically unappealing and makes the deck appear as unfinished. * Overall the job does not look professional and the roof is unusable for the intended use as a walk on surface. read more

I was tasked with helping my mother repair/replace the roof on the house she has lived in for years, so it was important to me that the work be done well and with integrity. When I asked friends and acquaintances who they would recommend, Nathan's Roofing was the only company whose name was repeated multiple times. So I scheduled an appt and appreciated that the estimator was on time and was there to evaluate our needs (not give a sales pitch). I asked for both a repair quote and a new roof quote and was not pressured to chose either. We hired Nathan's and the work has been the highest of quality. It is evident that Nathan is an involved business owner, and that he wants to do the best and be the best for his customers. The members of his crew are polite, respectful, efficient (and leave the worksite clean), and his office staff are wonderful--very pleasant and responsive. In my opinion, you have chosen the best in RVA, if you choose this company. read more

Nathan's re-roofed our house on time, at a good price, and cleaned up the site well. However, they did not follow Virginia building code or the shingle manufacturer's recommendations about the amount of ice barrier to install (should be from roof edge to 24" inside exterior wall line). Nathan at first disputed this, saying the code only applied to new construction (incorrect, see R907.1), and that his use of an aluminum drip edge was more important (which the shingle manufacturer disputed). To resolve the situation, he agreed to extend his standard 5 year labor warranty to 25 years, and it seemed to be an honest misunderstanding on his part. And given the infrequent snow storms in VA, it's probably not a big deal. But I would insist that they follow codes, and verify that they are. read more

I had a repair completed by Nathan's Roofing, Windows & Siding 4 years ago that was an agreeable experience. As such, I decided to call them again. I described the current problem (a leak in a 10'x15' roof) to the office via phone and 3 business days later, a sales representative visited the house and provided estimates for replacing the leaky roof as well as another section that is older but not leaking. The sales rep and I exchanged two emails with clarifications and, after consensus, the contract was signed and faxed over to the company. Upon receipt of the fax, however, an office manager called to say that my $500 leaking roof replacement was too inexpensive for the 6-man roof crew and that, "Nathan said no" to performing the work. I was not only shocked by the apparent lack of communication between the field sales rep and the office team/owner, but also by the company's lack of professionalism and integrity. After all, what is the point of both parties signing a triplicate contract if the company then withdraws their agreement? Nathan's Roofing is a company ready for hire--if your repair requires a minimum of thousands of dollars or if your less expensive repair occurs during a drought when business is slow. Otherwise, I recommend securing a company that will 1) honor a signed contract and 2) be happy to complete the agreed-upon work for you. Simply put, hire a company with trustworthy customer service. read more
