We ordered Vegetable Samosas as an app, so good, probably my favorite samosas I've had. Then for meals we tried their Chicken Korma (medium) and Desi Bites Special Biryani (Chicken). The food was delicious. The portions were generous. It is a good place to grab some food. The menu was big that it felt a little daunting on ordering. After asking the cashier for recommendations, our order tried to represent chicken, veggie and seafood options. We did not wait long for food. All the entrees tasted fresh and ready to eat. If you can't eat spicy food, request to tone down the spices. Mild is still pretty hot. I'm unsure if the cooks know American mild means almost no spice at all. Overall, the diner was clean. Diners were asked to bus their used dishes. I observed employees wiping down the tables clean. The price point is similar to other Indian restaurants in the area. read more

On December 11, I placed a takeout order for half a tray of kadai chicken for a Christmas party scheduled for December 13. Fifteen minutes before pickup on December 13, I called to confirm that my order was ready. The woman who answered told me to come in 20 minutes to pick up my quarter tray. I corrected her and explained that I had ordered a half tray. She put me on hold to check with the cook and then returned, confirming that the half tray would be ready. When we picked up the order and opened the foil at home, it was immediately clear that this was not a half tray. What we received was essentially a quarter tray of chicken drowned in excessive sauce and oil. There were barely 10 pieces of chicken, with the rest consisting mostly of curry and oil. Kadai chicken is meant to have more meat and less gravy, not the other way around. It was obvious that extra sauce had been added to make a quarter tray appear larger--and even then, it still fell far short of a half tray. I paid $80, the full price for a half tray. I had 20 guests, and a half tray typically serves close to 30 people. What I received was barely enough for 8 people. Unfortunately, since my guests had already arrived, I had no choice but to serve what I was given. I called the restaurant immediately and spoke to the same woman, requesting that the manager or owner contact me. Two weeks have passed, and I have not heard from anyone. I regularly cater food for gatherings, and this was my first and last experience ordering from Desi Bites. They over charged me and gave me quarter tray instead of half tray and didn't care to follow up. This level of service, quality, and lack of follow-up is unacceptable. read more

I ordered the goat dum biryani family pack, which I already found to be quite expensive compared to other Indian restaurants--especially considering this is more of a snack joint. Unlike most Indian restaurants, it also doesn't come with any side dishes. About 10 minutes after placing the order, I received a call informing me that the goat dum biryani family pack was unavailable. I was given a few replacement options and chose one based on their recommendation. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. It tasted like overly spicy goat curry mixed with rice, and not at all like a proper biryani. Overall, this was a letdown, and I wanted to share my experience so other customers are aware before ordering. If you're looking for a good South Indian biryani, this is not the place. There are better Indian restaurants nearby that offer better quality and pricing. If you want, I can make it shorter for Google reviews or a bit stronger/milder in tone. read more

This is our 2nd time returning to Desi Bites. This time for Father's Day. The service was quick and our food was fresh and hot! We order chicken and onion pakoras plus samosas. The pakoras were hot and very tasty. With a party of 6, the food was plentiful! Masala dosas, chicken kabobs, chicken biriyani and cashew chickebln curry! The vegetarians were very satisfied and the chicken lovers found the meat juicy and moist. We love the restaurant feel without the big wait! Their service and food has gotten much better since our last visit! We'll definitely keep coming back... read more

Amazing! Easy 5 stars! Definitely authentic and delicious! I came here to try pani puri and was not disappointed, loved the explosion of flavor and the chicken pakoda was excellent. I didn't grab a picture of our goat curry and chicken dum ka but those were tasty too! So much flavor and the service was really good too! Visited this places multiple times. All most all items in the menu are authentic. Only negative is biryanis are more oily at this place

Have gone here a few times for takeout. Portions are amazing. We're talking biryani in a gallon tub. You could easily feed a family with a single order. Everything is always piping hot. I recommend kheema biryani (ground goat) and saag paneer w/chicken. One thing to mention with the biryani is spice level seems to just mean more or less sliced jalapeños and medium is still a lot of sliced jalapeños. Don't forget to check for daily specials! Unusual fast food indian cafe. You order at the counter and they call you to pick up when ready. Food is very good. I had the dosa and my wife had poori with egg curry. Both were excellent. The egg cuury came in a to go container. We decided to go to Desi Bites as a snack/lunch vibe. We ordered the samosa chaat, pakoray, and papdi chaat. Everything was sooo good and the portions were also good in size. Just when a place makes you mad- had to do a mad search to find them online- when I would pull up the map with the location - it showed up as the indian restaurant that was in the same location before them. Finally tried grub hub - found them- then instead of messing with a third party went directly to the restaurants site- placed my order used a credit card- then apparently their website stalled- I get a notification of from my bank that my card was charged- go to pick up the food- they have no idea what I am talking about my order doesn't exist. So head home.... Of course they do a weird thing and close down in the middle of the afternoon. This would have been the second time I tried them-- the first I had actually gone to the location based on the menu of the old indian restaurant that showed up online in the search. Was a little confused decided to give them a shot was ok. While there it seemed like they were having some local meeting all men. So now will need to contact bank and make sure the charge didn't go through. The staff were very friendly and helpful with choosing our dishes. The flavors of the food were good, although it looked as if I was being served a microwaved meal that I could have bought at the store and heated up myself. The curries came in a branded Tupperware container and did not seem homemade, but rather a pitch to buy their products online. There was no silverware for dining in, only plastic with styrofoam cups for drinking. If you're looking for a VERY casual and quick Indian food then Desi Bites is your place! If you're looking for a more authentic and formal dining experience I would suggest somewhere else. read more

Previously called Madras Cafe, this has been one of our go-to places. They recently changed their name to Desi Bites and also added Non Vegetarian items to their menu. The last time I visited this restaurant, we ordered a variety of dosas and I ordered Idlis. I have loved Idlis, Sambhar and Coconut Chutney since my childhood in India so I know a thing or two about how good this simple dish can be. Sadly, Desi Bites was disappointing in this regard. The Idlis were rubbery - as if they had been sitting around for a while. The Sambhar that all 4 of us had with our Idlis and dosas looked and tasted like they had added water to it. The Coconut Chutney was forgettable - not even sure there was ANY coconut in it! A real disappointment. We always have frozen Idlis, Sambhar and Coconut Chutney in our freezer at home and they tasted a LOT better than what Desi Bites is serving. I LOVE Idlis and Sambhar and Coconut Chutney ... but now I am very hesitant to order these at Desi Bites - when what is in our freezer is so much better. I hope the Desi Bites management reads this and takes quality-improvement steps. Meanwhile, don't expect top quality when it comes to these items at Desi Bites. read more
