We had such a wonderful experience at Maslaaa! We ordered the Gobi Manchurian, samosa chaat, Chettinad dosa, and ghee roast- everything tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. What really stood out was how kid-friendly the food was. My kids tried Gobi Manchurian for the first time and absolutely loved it (which is saying a lot!). My experience here is so weird because I've never ordered anything for myself. I've just gone with the Indians from work and sit back and they order a bunch of stuff and I stuff my mouth. I can't even really tell you WHAT I've had, because I don't know what most of it is called! But I can tell you that the service is always above average, and all the food and drink I've had has been really, really awesome. And what's surprising is that I'm not a vegetarian at all, I'm very much a "give me meat" kinda guy, but I've never, ever been disappointed with the lack of meat at Masalaa. It's just always been an absolutely delicious and wonderful experience. I'm so happy with this place and I'm excited go back! Be aware it seems like one person runs and cooks the whole place, so the service can be a little slow, and the meals are often served broken up with things coming at very different times, but for our purposes it's always been great. One of the few eateries that is open later on a Sunday, and isn't fast food. The food was very nice and tasty, but the facilities left a bit to wonder. From a food perspective, everything was delicious and very tasty. The onion dosa was delicious, with three different dipping sauces it was easily a win to me. The garlic naan was a great combination of crisp and chewiness, and full of garlicky flavor. The palak paneer was also delish. Between those three dishes, it was more than enough for two people. The service was good, they were courteous and responsive. Did not feel pressure from them to hurry up and finish, despite the late hour - we wrapped up about 20 min before their posted closing time (with no one else in the restaurant). The facilities and interior... that's where it kinda fell apart. The seats felt dated and the whole interior felt dark. The bathroom was not up to snuff... without going into specifics... it could use some maintenance and clean up. It wasn't gross, but not fully comfortable washing your hands and going out to eat. I like encouraging small businesses so I really wanted to give this one five stars but, I need to be honest . I have been here twice. First time I left without eating because not a single server stopped by to take my order or even give me a glass of water after waiting 15 minutes. They walked past me a few times to wait on the only other couple in the restaurant but treated me like I'm invisible. Possibly because I'm an older single women & I had read that we become invisible at this age. Today I happened to be in the neighborhood at lunch time. The AC wasn't working. Servers kept walking past me like I don't exist. Couple seated after me got water & silver. I didn't get any even after asking. I got up & got my own silver & helped myself to the buffet which had mostly empty trays or trays that you have to scrape the bottom for food. They weren't making any effort to refill the trays. What little food I got was authentic South Indian but the hot restaurant without AC & terrible service take away from the experience. As I paid, I told the dude how I didn't even get water to drink. He apologized. I didn't feel like they deserved a tip for their lack of service. I don't know who the manager is but he clearly does not manage. It could be a great restaurant cause they obviously have a good chef. But the terrible service & lack of attention to customers is going to take away any business they could attract read more

I worked in India during my career and fell in love with the food. One of my favorite breakfast/brunch dishes is sambhar and idli. I have been eating at Masalaa for years pre-COVID at their buffet. Now that they are on my drive from the stable, I stopped to order sambhar and idli as it had been a favorite of mine on the buffet. I was greeted with a smile and a nod, my order taken, and I was talked into a Chai to go. I was so pleased with my brunch, two large idli, a nice container of sambhar, and two sauces, tamarind and cilantro. And of course, the chai was as advertised, delicious. I paid around $10 for my meal and thought it was a great deal by today's standards. The dining room is small and cozy for when I decide to eat in. I know this will become a regular. read more

By far the BEST Indian cuisine I've had! I ordered the Paneer Tiki Masala and Vegetable Korma and both were incredible, but even more delicious was the garlic naan! Also had the Chai which was also amazing. I don't know what this place only has 3 1/2 stars! Service and Ambiance were both just fine. It's a smaller dining room but had problems being seated for lunch. The entire menu is vegetarian and vegan also gluten free options. This was my fifth or sixth visit to Masalaa, and will sadly be my LAST. I had told my boyfriend that it was really good, so we went for dinner tonight. We both love Gobi Manchurian, and I have ordered it on every previous visit. Tonight, the flavor was good, but the Gobi was soggy instead of crispy, and several pieces were rather large. Boyfriend barely ate his. The onion dosa was a messy DISASTER. It was folded instead of rolled, and placed on top of the sauces with all the filling carelessly clumped in the middle. When we attempted to roll it, it fell apart and was just unappetizing. The flavor was good, but the sloppy presentation was so unappealing that we hardly ate any of it. I have had other dosas at Masalaa, and they were great. Not this mess. How lazy does someone have to be to not spread out the filling and roll it, so that it can be sliced and eaten properly? And fit on the platter next to the sauces, instead of draped on the metal cups? The samosas were perfect, and the naan was good, but this was basically a waste of $50.00 ($42 plus tip). I was so EMBARRASSED, since I had told him that it was great Indian food. Utterly awful experience. And we were literally the ONLY people in the dining room. I don't know if the chef was having a bad night or what, but this was awful except for the samosas and naan. BF left hungry. Worst dinner out ever. I feel terrible. Have brought several friends there on other occasions. Will tell them not to go back. It's gone downhill. read more

Wow...just wow! I tried 4-5 dishes last night that I have never had before in my life. I didn't even get a picture of the bhel puri because it was eaten so fast. I tried my friends paneer and paper masala dosa, both were amazing. I got the Manchurian dosa myself and it was my favorite of the three. It had this wonderful umami flavor and tons of perfectly caramelized onions covering the crispy cauliflower. All of the food combined was like $40 and fed 3 people (hearty appetites) with leftovers. The service was also 10/10. Our waiter wore a mask, made suggestions on what to try, and was just awesome overall. Another thing I will mention is that I am a huge meat eater, and it took me until this morning to realize the meal didn't even have meat. I was still 100% satisfied which is almost unbelievable. This place is absolutely disgusting. There was no toilet paper in the shared bathroom. My food took over an hour for them to make and when I called ahead to ensure appropriate prep, their phone is just off the hook. When I arrived the genrelman lied to me. Told me it would just be a minute. I waited an additional 30 minutes because they lost the order. The place was empty and the food was just disgusting. There was an employee that handed me a paper towel when I told her there is no toilet paper. Stay away. And when you pay online for pick up they actually ask for a "generous" tip. Went for the buffet on a Saturday. Restaurant was moderately packed. I chose the buffet so I didn't have to wait. In the end i ended up waiting quite a bit. Great proximity to the airport and is open relatively late. We had their Mysore thali and paneer tikka pizza dosa. The pizza dosa came exactly as a pizza on a spiced dosa. Thali was so filling with a paper thin masala dosa and all the works. Would recommend to anyone wanting a quick Indian fix before heading to the airport. read more

Andhra Spicy Dosa= Game Changer If someone told me that a full meal could consist of bread and soups. I would slap them before I explained that I am not an orphan from a Charles Dickens novel. But the Andra Dosa is incredible. Imagine a light crepe. Now imagine it 10 times bigger. Swirl South Indian spices on it , give it most of the components of Aloo Gobi, and place it along 3 small bowls filled with flavor. If you do all that you will eating something incredible. Pro: Hands down the best restaurant for South Asian food in all of Denver - especially for Dosas. Con: (And I hate that i have to say this, as it's a very serious deal, but I've kept quiet for too long. And I'm hoping by sharing this, the management for this company can exterminate the hell out of this restaurant)...But yes, there are roaches throughout this restaurant. Ive dined here multiple times, and the very first time I came here, i saw a couple roaches in the men's bathroom in the far right side of the restaurant. But i chose not to report it, because the food is so damn good. A few months later, after paying for my dinner at the front desk...is a huge roach roaming about the wall IN THE LOBBY of the restaurant DIRECTLY behind the employee taking my payment. This time, I also chose not to say anything...because on top of this restaurant making excellent south asian cuisine, they're a minority owned business (and I know minority owned businesses in particular were hit hard by Covid-19). Today however...(bracing myself for the potential sighting of any roaches in the bathroom or lobby)...did NOT expect a roach to flat out roam around on the edge of my table on the white table cloth heading toward my food. And man was that little guy fast as I flicked him off. This time, I spoke up finally and told my server what I saw and I willingly asked to sit at another table. This server's reaction was emotionless as he said he's going to remove and clean the white table cloth (as they should frequently...as it was clearly a messy table, even on top of the glass of the table). As I paid my bill, this server didn't apologize once about the ordeal. It's almost as if he knew about the roach infestation here, and even if he did know, an apology would have been nice. So long story short...I hate that I'm writing this review, but it had to have been said. I feel its in the best interest of the general public and the restaurant's future that this issue comes to light to prevent a roach climbing onto another persons table or worse being in someone's food (and I'm surprised i haven't read a single other review bringing this issue up). Masalaa, please for the love of God, get an exterminator fast. Close your business for a month or two, and clean this place up. It's getting dirtier each time I come. And i don't want to see you guys go out of business indefinitely because your food deserves to be recognized and eaten by the fine residents of Denver. read more

Without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in Denver. It is truly a hidden gem. Here's why: 1) The menu is 100% vegetarian, which is nice for me since I am a vegetarian. At Masala, I never have to worry about whether a dish has meat hidden in it or not. 2) The food quality and flavor. Everything seems scratch made, and the flavors are remarkable. A lot of heavy cardamom and curry, which I love. 3) The value. My fiancee and I can get an appetizer, two entrees and a glass of wine, and be out the door at $40...including tip!!! 4) The wait. There is none! Everytime we've gone here for dinner, we've never, ever waited for a table. The interior is low-key and subtle. The staff is always kind and attentive. There is always nice Indian music playing in the background. I cannot recall a time when I've been dissatisfied with a dining experience at Masalaa, and I've eaten here about 15 times! If you're into Indian food, regardless of whether or not your vegetarian, you NEED to try Masalaa. You will not be dissappointed. read more

I *love* this place. It's next door to an Indian grocery store, so I get to nostalgically play out what I used to do growing up when going to eat Indian: shop for goodies first. Nostalgic grocery shopping aside, Masalaa is incredible not only because the entire menu is vegetarian so I can actually eat Vindaloo (which usually has meat in it), but because every dish I've tried is very well done. They do fun things like all you can eat dosas, but I usually stick to the curry menu and try different ones. There's not one I don't like--really. Great ambience for a relaxed evening with family. I was here for the first time yesterday with family and the food was tidy! The icing on the cake is that this is a veggie only place and I an go blind on ordering food. After reading many encouraging reviews on Yelp and Google, I cannot wait to come back and try out the rest of the menu. Podi Idli and Chettinadu Masala Dosa was nice!! I am so glad this place exists in Denver. A truly stellar vegetarian/vegan Indian establishment that cuts no corners on the quality of food they offer at a very reasonable price. I have always enjoyed visiting their establishment but just decided to order from them for delivery on Grubhub. I was slightly worried about how a few of the items would fare via delivery but everything arrived fresh, hot and amazing. If you're a vegetarian or vegan you must check this place out. In Denver's Indian restaurant scene, the Northern guys and their tandoors seem to get all the props. But where's the love for the South? Can I get a shout-out for my Tamil, Telugu, Keralan and Karnatakan peeps??? Well, of course I can - if I visit Masalaa that is! Behind the Dairy Queen at Parker and Peoria in Aurora lies this pearl which has been vegging out for close to ten years (if not more) now, thrilling curious consumers in the process. If you are totally unfamiliar with Indian vegetarian food, a good way to start out is to try their lunch buffet, where you will find a wide range of ever-changing meatless dishes, chutneys, and sides along with a Dosa (griddled lentil and rice crepe which is often about as large as a Brontosaurus bone and in this case is brought personally to your table). Then, once you've initiated yourself, try some of the dishes on the menu. Gobi 65 (the name itself is a subject of much speculation - does the number refer to ingredients? Year of origin? What??) takes cauliflower and encases it in a spicy batter before deep-frying it. Pao Bhaji gives you a complex potato curry on a roll not too dissimilar from a hamburger bun - one taste and you will see why Mumbai's beaches are always so packed! Main courses include Kathrika Masala, eggplant braised in a smoky, seemingly nutty sauce until tender, and Paneer Tikka Masala, revisiting the famous Anglo-Indian dish by swapping chicken for cheese. If it's available that day you might even get to try Pongal, the slow-cooked rice porridge popular in much of the South. So stop by and experience South Indian taste sensations (and the occasional Northern dish too) at Masalaa. read more

Five Star, best of the best Indian Fare in Denver! This is exceptional Indian food-and- VEGETARIAN alert! This is authentic vegetarian Indian that would make most folks give up bacon forever.... The food: Other reviewers swooned about the DOSAs- so we of course tried some, having never heard of these delightful Indian crepes made of rice and lentil batter. Naturally GLUTEN FREE, peeps, these dosas will knock your socks off. They are the biggest damn crepes I have ever seen, literally rolled out longer than my forearm, and stuffed with yummy things. Try a Dosa. Also notable were the Coconut Chutney, please draw me a bath...I dipped everything into mine. Delish. The British Boyfriend, slightly dubious about the vegetarian thing, was so ecstatic about his dinner that he actually showed emotion by smiling- so this place is clearly his new favorite. A wonderful wonderful hole-in-the wall gem found in a strip mall in Aurora, the only teeny downside was the interior/menus/floors could have been a teeny weeny bit cleaner.
