7/10/26 This first time trying this place and it didn't disappoint. Me and the wifey wanted to try something new in town and this has come up a couple times in my either TikTok or IG and been wanting to go. I got the Chicken Tikka masala bowl. Comes with rice , I got lettuce , cilantro, and diced cucumber. The chicken was very flavorful and great spices to it not overpowering at all. It was really good. My wife got to goat curry, and I was able to try and it was very tender and very good. She was very happy with it. We also got the samosas which were very nice crispy outside soft inside. As well as the garlic naan, which went well with our bowls, it was all very good. Service was excellent. Explained how it worked and how to order. We enjoyed very much . Not a huge place but plenty of seating inside. Will definitely be back . Enjoy !!!! read more

Came by for lunch during work and was absolutely impressed! For the price the amount of food and flavor you get is unbeatable. I got the bowl with Paneer, unlimited toppings, and some amazing homemade sauces! The garlic naan was also delicious however I wish it was a bit more buttery. The team working there was pretty amazing and kind to each person in line and very helpful with walking us through the entire process. read more

Just another great idea. Used to be that the only way to have Indian food was to go to a sit down restaurant and maybe pay $30-50 per head. Food was always good but what if I just wanna get lunch or a quick bite for dinner and don't wanna break the bank? Here's your answer. Great popular Indian dishes (vegetarian options included) in the create-it-yourself format, a la Chipotle. But you're not gettin butter chicken or curry goat in your Chipotle bowl, are you. Choose a bowl, burrito or naan wrap. Choose your protein, sauces, other toppings and call it a meal. They also have sides. I can never resist getting a couple samosas to go with mine. I chose the naan wrap. Fresh naan made in house with chicken tikka masala. Huge naan wrap that was so satisfying. My wife got a butter chicken bowl with masala corn, cucumber and SHREDDED CHEESE? Hey, it's your choice. Food was plentiful and delicious. Samosas were crispy outside and maximally stuffed with potato/peas/curry and all the stuff. Chutneys were superflavorful. Service was super friendly. If you don't get it, they'll explain it. Bill was about $53 but only because I couldn't help myself and had to add samosas and a mango lassi, also excellent. If it was just the meals, we're probably out the door for for about $30-35 for two of us. I could eat at McDonald's for that much. But why? Go support this business and concept. This is like Chipotle but Indian food, you can build your bowl or get it in a wrap or as a fusion burrito. The food was excellent it was flavorful, it came out hot and fresh, and the portions were generous. We chose the tikka masala bowl, the goat curry bowl, the samosas, and the garlic naan.... We will definitely frequent this spot and tell our friends. We hope they are here to stay!! Btw the staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

Oh my gosh i am so happy to have this just down the street from home. I wish I could give this place more than five stars! Excellent service and so helpful since it was our first visit here. More than enough portion size and a great unique concept setting themselves apart from everyone else in town. A chipotle style establishment, great for quick ordering on lunch breaks, or an early dinner. You get to choose between a wrap (naan), a bowl, or a burrito. Then choose anything else you'd like to add, and definitely take advantage of some sauces on the side, they are so good! The handmade Samosas are buttery, crispy, and go really well with the mint chutney and tamarind chutney, both absolutely incredible! We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Jazz and talking about his dad and brother, and their vision for the future. It was really nice chatting with him and learning more about all of the effort that goes into their dishes. We wish them nothing but the absolute best and success. Good conversation, and positive vibes. Jazz also graciously brought out some sample cups of the goat curry. Oh my gosh it was so tender, and phenomenal flavor! There's bones though (worth it) but definitely be careful while enjoying the goat. They are still setting up the overall atmosphere of the space, but with their incredible family vision it's going to look amazing and I can't wait to see it. Indian food is one of my go to cuisines, and this place did not disappoint. The food was delicious, and everything I tried was cooked perfectly. Their mango lassi has to be one of the best in town. It's flavorful, refreshing, and the perfect complement to the meal. My only suggestion would be slightly larger portions, as I'd love to see the plates and cups filled a bit more. Well they didn't have that full menu that they advertised last time which was a bit of a bummer (employee gal didn't know what we were talking about), but looks like they may have seen my wish for some Indian art because there was some on the walls now, which was nice. I wasn't a fan of the big TV playing modern U.S. music videos-- would have much preferred Bollywood film songs / Punjabi music videos (my favorite casual Indian restaurants back in California always had those going) or even Cricket. Also my bowl this time was so generously portioned again, but incredibly spicy-- not something that would probably appeal to the average tastebuds out here in Reno. I really want to love this place but it's just not doing it for me yet. I'm sure they'll do well enough if they keep things spicy and just kinda cater to that market but if they mild things out they might appeal to even more tastebuds out here. read more

It is like Chipotle for Indian food. Delicious and filling. I had the Butter Chicken bowl topped with pickled red onion, fresh cilantro and corn. The mint chutney and mango lassi are both refreshing. This place was as advertised. If we wanted a full on restaurant experience with restaurant prices, yes 7 would be the go-to. But for lunch on a rainy Monday in May, Desi was perfect! Larger seating area than we expected and very clean. Both gentlemen working the front were helpful and patient. They do need another person up there to maybe cashier/expedite. They don't have their full menu available yet but we tried the butter chicken in a naan wrap, saag paneer in a bowl and an order of samosas. We would order all items again. read more

Visited this new restaurant for lunch on a Monday. I went with a few colleagues on our lunch break. Half of us ordered through their website for pickup and the rest ordered in person. When we arrived, the place was very busy. It took about 10 minutes to get our pickup order and 25 minutes to get the orders placed in person. I would have given them a 4.5/5 stars if I could due to this wait, but I assume this will get better. Desi Flavors only opened 2 weeks ago so I think they are still working out the kinks. The food was phenomenal and absolutely deserves 5 stars. I ordered the naan wrap with tikka masala chicken, cilantro, raita sauce, cucumber and pickled red onions. Everything was flavorful and the naan was to die for. The portion size was also great for the price ($14.50). The rest of my party ordered a variety of bowls and naan wraps and everyone has been raving about the food all week. They also have a mango lassi that was a hit! This is a great addition to the Reno food scene and I'm sure it will do well as a lunch spot since it's surrounded by businesses! I know I'll be back to check them out again in a few weeks and hope they will have figured out how to reduce their wait times. read more

I never visited Rick's Deli (the former restaurant space), but from the reviews you can say the ambiance is about the same. Still a spacious little diner like environment, a single TV, menu on the wall, with a buffet style non-self serving setup. It's pretty straight forward. Desi makes good Indian food. The service was good. Jas I believe his name was, was absolutely courteous, offered me and my friend good recommendations. I had their Chicken Masala bowl with a few extras on top and it was good, comparable to other popular Indian restaurants in town, but the serving size was small. A healthy amount though come to think about it. I was able to finish it in one setting. I didn't feel full which can actually feel satisfying at times. I ended up having their Chai to drink afterwards and often times I'm critical of being served a drink in a large cup with half the fluid portion size, but was good. A hot drink. I can live with that. Was that worth $5 though? Overall, the flavors were good, portion sizes okay which made for a satisfying, lunch time meal. I'll definitely go back and try their burrito and Naan wrap. Try it for yourself. Especially if you like Indian food. It was served fast, it's conveniently located South of town and it tastes good. It's satisfying. I'll take pictures next time. read more

New Spot Alert ‼ , from the moment I walked in, the staff made a strong impression. Super helpful, patient, and genuinely willing to answer questions without making you feel rushed. I ended up ordering a bowl with a chicken option that's not even on the menu yet ( pro tip ask about it.) It wasn't breaded, just perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The chicken was tender, juicy, and not chewy at all. There was a slight kick at the end, but nothing overwhelming just enough to keep things interesting. It came on a bed of rice that was cooked exactly how you'd want it. You're able to customize your order with sauces and toppings. I kept it pretty simple. I just added cucumber, which balanced out the spices perfectly. Needless to say I'll be returning. read more

Quick and fresh! Man this stuff is savory! The proteins are really well seasoned and tender, fresh veggies, and the samosas are crispy (don't forget the mint chutney!) Mango lassi definitely has a different flavor (in a good way) then most of the eateries in town. House made without the fluff! My wife got this to-go last night and after one bite I already knew I had to come back the next day to get my own. The moment you walk in, you can already smell all the amazing flavors and it gets you excited to eat. Absolutely packed with flavor, fresh, delicious, and honestly one of the best meals I've had in Reno. The service was great too. The gentleman at the cashier was super helpful and gave great recommendations on which sauces to try, which made the experience even better. Every bite was amazing. Happy to have some good Indian food in South Reno. Service is generally good and the burrito and naan wrap options are something unique that you can't get anywhere else in town, and pretty reasonably priced. Staff are all friendly and helpful, food is great. I've had the butter chicken, tikka masala, and chana masala-- I thought both chicken options were good if maybe a bit similar, chana masala was nice but I think it could do with a stronger/more flavorful curry since the chickpeas aren't as flavorful as the chicken. read more

this is not a 5 star restaurant. if you really believe it is you need to get out more. bawarchi in sparks or 7 spices both outdo this place on flavor and are true 5 star indian food for the area. value is good. for $12.50 the bowl is a generous portion. saag paneer and chana masala were mid at best and nowhere near the flavor of other indian restaurants in the area. buttar chicken was 4/5, but is hard to do wrong (ask yourself if youve ever had bad buttar chicken?). THEY DIDNT REMOVE ALL THE BONES FROM THE CHICKEN! samosas were a little more unique than other spots, with a savory crunch and less doughy texture. good spices and flavor made these a treat. the mango lassi was very floral and that is not my preference. other folks might like it that way but I threw mine out and didn't finish it because my mouth tasted like potpourri. overall review is capped at 4 stars regardless of the food because they've done nothing to change the interior since taking over from the previous owner (Ricks deli). I'm laughing at the reviewers who are rating them as 5 stars for atmosphere. what atmosphere? the deli atmosphere with green checkered flooring when this is an indian restaurant? the resturant front of house was not being kept tidy with trash and boxes left on top of the countertops. I'll give them a pass on this because they are new but will try again in a few weeks to see if they keeping the front of house in better shape. staff was courteous as is expected. read more

Great addition to the Reno Food Scene! Family owned and everything is made from scratch. We tried the mango lassi and it was amazing. The Samosas were the best we have had, loved the 2 sauces it included. We tried 2 bowls- the goat (additional $3.99) was yummy with a good portion and the chicken masala was delicious.
