Went there for dinner yesterday. Dined in after a long time, but we were a little disappointed. We ordered- Baby corn Manchurian- 5/5 Cut Mirchi- 4/5 Chicken lollipop-3/5 Paneer tikka masala-3/5 Chicken Chettinad- 5/5 Garlic naan and onion kulcha. We also got beers and coke. The food was good, the service was quick. But what disappointed us was the fact that they didn't have Thumbs up, coke or sweet lime soda( which is basically carbonated water with lemon juice, sugar and salt) on a Friday evening. Good is off the charts fresh and delicious. Our server was running the front as well as the food she was extremely courteous and made sure we were never out of drinks. This is the best naan I have ever had. This is one of the best places in the entire area. And one dish is more than enough for a hungry man. We had three dishes, rice, and garlic naan twice. I have been a patron since 2018 and unfortunately the food has gone downhill and the prices have gone uphill.... way way uphill. $20 for biryani, $17 chicken curry... wtf. Eager to try, as many "locals" said the Sparks location was worth the drive. Bawarchi Sparks did not disappoint. We went for lunch over a weekend, so the place was quiet. The wait staff was young and not terribly informed but yeah, you gotta start somewhere, right. She was friendly and eager to take care of us, so there is that. Going with friends, we were able to try a lot of foods, so here we go: Samosa The crust was flaky and light. The filling (potatoes and peas) was flavorful with a hint of spice, for that proper kick. The sauces served complemented the flavors nicely. Masala Dosa My first time having this dish. It is basically a giant rice crepe with, in our case, a potato chutney filling. The crepe was super thin and crispy. The filling was very tasty. Vijayawada Biryani I love Biryani. This dish, aromatic basmati rice made with Indian herbs served over boneless chicken pieces mixed with a special sauce was truly special. A hint of spiciness added to the authenticity. Palek Paneer I was looking for Saag Paneer but Palek Paneer is basically the same thing. A beautiful blend of spinach and cheese. Perfection. Lamb Vindaloo Another delicious dish. The blend of spices, lamb and potatoes cooked to perfection. Another dish with a hint of spiciness. Butter Chicken I like my Butter Chicken served with dark meat, but this dish uses chicken breast. I didn't have high hopes, but boy could I not have been more wrong. The chicken blended nicely with the rich, flavorful sauce. Another solid choice. The only dish that wasn't spicy. Naan We ordered both the plain and garlic Naan. Cooked to perfection, light, flavorful but not burnt. Solid. We haven't tried the Bawarchi in So Reno but would definitely say the Sparks location was worth the drive. read more

Came out to dinner with friends who suggested Bawarchi. I have only had Indian 1 time before (many years ago) so I was interested in trying it again and refreshing my taste buds. We started with samosas, what a great way to start. Then onto multiple dishes which i don't even know what their official name is but they were all tasty and delicious. My favorite was the goat meat with rice, as well as the chicken majestic and naan. Everything was fresh and customer service was exceptional. The ambiance in casual, dining area open and clean. I wanted the goat curry and wanted medium spicyness, she was able to steer me in the right direction so my tongue and stomach doesn't get fried. She suggested a tomato infused curry goat dish. Though it was tolerable, it was still quite spicy. Great suggestion by her. My friend ordered the fantastic dosa and somosas which she loves. Oh Bawarchi, how I miss thee!! This place has amazing Chicken Tikka Masala and you haven't lived until you have dipped the garlic Naan in the masala sauce. You can order your food mild, which will still be some heat, but it's manageable for normal people. That little bit of fire is actually pretty good and not too hot like other places' "mild". I am pretty obsessed with the sauce, but the chicken is really tender too. If you are new to Indian food, it would probably be a great starter dish for you IF you have it here. The interior is pretty simple, but it's a nice friendly atmosphere that you can go and have a nice dinner with friends or family. It doesn't glare at you as you drive by with bright lights or anything like that, in fact it is pretty easy to miss but it is worth looking for if you haven't been there. Make sure to try their TANDOORI CHICKEN sizzling on a hot metal plate! We also loved the chicken biryani, Tika massala, and butter chicken! So, first let me say that I have had a lot of Indian food in my life, lived with an Indian family for a year, and can make a few Indian dishes myself. I was impressed with the spice level of these dishes, particularly the egg masala, which is a dish I have never seen on a restaurant menu but know how to make. The butter naan was okay for me--I would like it fluffier and less crispy. I liked the flavor of the aloo gobi (cauliflower and potatoes) because it was almost a smoky flavor, which was a little unexpected. The butter chicken was made with tandoori chicken and the sauce was complex, maybe a little on the sweeter side. I was disappointed with the palak paneer--I don't like it when the sauce is super thin (with puréed spinach) instead of a thicker sauce with more bits of spinach leaves. The bawarchi fried chicken was good, with bits of fragrant fried curry leaves. My daughter loved it but I would pass in favor of the samosas, which we got to go this time. The tamarind and green cilantro sauces that accompany the samosas were just perfect, in my opinion. There's not much ambiance. I think the owners could redecorate to make it more cozy, maybe with more plush seating and frabrics. Service was straightforward. We asked for pickle and they obliged with a small yet potent dish of a veggie pickle. I think the owner or manager came by to check on us and processed our check. He was very friendly. Overall, I'd definitely return for particular items, but I'm still on the lookout for my favorite Indian restaurant in the area. read more

I tried Bawarchi for the first time by accident. I had ordered from another restaurant that I don't particularly love, and when that restaurant treated me like crap on the phone, I decided to find a new Indian cuisine restaurant. I stumbled on Bawarchi as the closest to me, so I ordered with them via takeout. Got home, opened the styrofoam container and IMMEDIATELY knew it was going to be amazing. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter chicken, Aloo Gobi and an order of cheese naan. When I tell you how insanely good it was, you won't believe it. The Aloo Gobi clearly had a ton of seasoning, sauce, and flavor, as I've never seen Aloo Gobi so "dark" in color. I was right, it was extra amazing flavor. The Chicken Tikka was AMAZING, but the best surprise was with the butter chicken and the cheese naan. Remember, I ordered takeout, and I live 20 minutes away from the restaurant, so you'd expect soggy naan and lukewarm curry by the time I got home with it. NOPE. It was, hands down, THE BEST Indian cuisine I have EVER had....and I've loved Indian cuisine for 25+ years now. Butter chicken is normally delicious but mild in flavor. This butter chicken is so highly enhanced in flavor, color, texture and quality of the chicken....it is mouthwatering and impossible to quit eating. My husband and I HAD to have Bawarchi again, last night, only this time we dined in. Our waiter was fantastic & explained history on the dishes and how they're made. He recommended an appetizer to try, which was delicious. Our food was absolutely scrumptious, with so much depth of flavor. But that cheese naan....holy crap, it's SOOOOO GOOD. All their naan is smothered in butter (not so much that it takes over), filled with a thin layer of cheese, and the naan is soft, slightly chewy, and with a light, crispy crunch on the edges. PHENOMENAL naan. Side note: Bawarchi has a great date-night aesthetic. Beautiful decor and a gorgeous bar with a granite bar top and mirrored backsplash. Very pretty. Between the fabulous service, gorgeous aesthetic, and gourmet, deeply flavorful cuisine, this is THE Indian restaurant to visit. Highly recommend. read more

Absolutely excellent! Had a lovely order of samosas, best ones we have had in awhile. I had the lamb vindaloo and wife had chicken biryani. Both dishes were the best we've found in the Reno/Sparks area. Naan was excellent, next time we'll make a point to order a bunch of it! The food was very good. My favorites are Chana Masala, palak paneer, and garlic Naan. The chicken chettinadu was a new try and it was good a little too much spice, so next time I may ask to tone it down just a bit. The egg fried rice was really good and had lots of flavor. I liked the extra slices of carrots, onions, and red pepper. The service was great. We got there early for dinner, around 4:45. There was just us 4 and another couple in there. It was nice and quiet.
