Mixed Fried Rice- literally the best I've had from even Asian restaurants!
    Kimberly J.

Fantastic food, fresh and savory and juicy. The mixed fried rice was on the Asian side of the menu and it was literally the best I've ever tasted, even among Thai/Chinese restaurants! This was at lunchtime during a weekday, and there were three other parties dining while we were there, as well as several takeout orders......and for some reason, only one person working as hostess/server/bus-person/cashier? She did her best, but not sure what they are thinking! Hope they have not had such a decline since they opened? Table was not the cleanest. The bathroom was in a long dark area covered by a curtain. Anyways really good food and thanks for the recommendation to get medium spice on the saag!

We found this place called Bawarchi Indian Cuisine which was close to our hotel and enjoyed everything that we ordered. We ordered Chicken 555 which was suggested as an alternative to the appetizer that we wanted because the other item would have taken too long to prepare. I ordered the Chicken Manchurian which was extremely hot, I think it would have been tolerable had I known to order rice or naan with it. It immediately caused acid reflux, so be warned if you are sensitive to spicy food. My partner ordered the Chicken Sukka Dosa and loved it. I would have given this place 5-stars but they were out of samosas. The host apologized and mentioned that in his 20+ years he has never ran out of them before. An Indian restaurant should never run out of a staple like samosas.

    12/19/23 FYI, Butter Chicken

Sadly, today is a 2 star day; both my lunch and dinner experience was 2 stars. If you are following, you already know. The good news is that the Happy Hour was another 5 stars, but I do not plan to write an updated review. I did post pictures. :) Quality/Quantity - Butter Chicken $15.99 - The flavor was good. Was this supposed to be shredded chicken in the sauce? It could have used much more chicken, but there was plenty of sauce. I will go to Costco tomorrow to buy more naan for all the leftover sauce. Plain Rice $4.99 - A little steep for plain rice. He said this was large...? But it was in a small container... Confused. Garlic Naan $4.99 - As usual, or maybe I just love bread...? This was the hit of the meal. And dip it into the butter chicken sauce! So good. Mango Lassi - Good flavor, but this drink is so small. If you are following, I had "In N Out" for lunch today and put this drink next to my complimentary small water. See picture. Extensive menu. Lunch buffet. Decent beer options, two of them from India. See picture. Atmosphere - Small location. Plenty of parking. Table and bar seating. Mostly to-go customers. Only one customer dined in when we got here at prime dinner time. Available for private events. Open 6 days a week from 11:30am to 9pm or 9:30pm, closed Mondays. Service - Just okay, had to clarify why the prices were significantly different from the menu. Then I had to ask for utensils. Price - $35, expensive for what we got. Owner Comment - Can I suggest updating your menu? Or put a bigger/better disclaimer on the menu for the significant price change. Do you also own the location in Sparks?

I really wanted to love this place. I drive past it every day for work, and it always looks so pretty and festive. I love Indian food and typically go to the ones closer to my house near Midtown, but we decided to make the trip across town since we always talk about this restaurant but had never actually visited. While it looks very festive and inviting from the outside, the interior decor is nice but definitely outdated and in need of some upgrades. Upon arrival, we weren't offered menus and were expected to look at the selections on our phones via a QR code. Unfortunately, none of the items had pictures or descriptions, so we initially had to use Yelp to understand what the items were. When I asked for a menu, we were given one. The lady who sat and served us was very nice, but she seemed to be the only one working outside of the kitchen staff. We started with samosas, which seemed undercooked--they were white instead of golden brown, and the inside was only semi-warm, almost as if they had been cooked from frozen. I ordered tikka masala, which was good, but not great. The chicken was hard to eat is it had a lot of connective tissue left on it. My partner ordered an eggplant dish, though I can't remember the name. Altogether, the food was lacking. We noticed that they offer a lunch buffet, so I might go back to sample different dishes and see if there's something better to order next time. If we do go again, it will likely be for the buffet to give the place another try.

    Stale, almost spoiled veg biryani.

The food was really bad, I mean it's stale and almost nearing spoilt. If you are not doing well as a business, you cannot punish your patrons for that. I have had bad Indian food all over the US and this one is up there amongst the worst.

It's my mistake for assuming both Bawarchis in town will taste the same. This location in South Reno just did not hit the spot. I called in the order and they said they were backed up, so it would be 30-35 minutes. But it actually took an hour. For the butter chicken, the taste is there but it's not as flavorful as I hoped. I'm a little disappointed that none of the curries already come with rice. Especially considering the location in Sparks gives you rice with the curries. The naans were very very flat, but they had a good flavor to it. Indian food is a little pricey for the portion, in my opinion. The curries average around $16. Just the curry without rice. The naans around around $5, depending on which one you get, so actually that's a good price. The inside could use a little revamp. The leather on the benches are peeling off completely. Overall I wasn't satisfied with my experience here. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back to the South Reno location.

Totally empty Masala Dosa. Huge letdown.

My son wanted Indian recently when ordering from Postmates and I suggested we re-order from the place he chose last time. He wanted to try something new and suggested Bawarchi. I sighed. Their food and service have gone down over the years, and they always mess up my order if it's for delivery. He was set in his decision. He ordered butter chicken, rice, and naan. I asked for a Masala Dosa. The food took forever to arrive. When my sons butter chicken arrived he looked at it and said it already didn't look as good as the last place. Upon tasting it, he was again disappointed. Every mom wants to hear their teenager say "you're right mom," but not if it means they are stuck with a not great dinner. I can't say much about mine because my dosa came totally empty. I tried dunking it into the soup they gave me but to me, a dosa without the mashed potato filling is useless. Potatoes are my favorite food, mash them up, and it's true love. So receiving a dosa with nothing inside was a sad sad moment. I wrote to Postmates but this was one of the orders that could not receive any refunds. The receipt was right which means the store got the right order submitted, they just prepared it wrong. I really need to stop giving this place chance after chance because I'm always let down. I threw away the rest of my rice crepe and soup because it was lackluster and missing filling. My son didn't finish his butter chicken and said next time he would listen, and only order from the place he already rated "bussin bussin," to avoid any more letdowns. I've been fooled too many times by Bawarchi, with too many wrong orders received, too many hour or longer waits for pickup. I've ordered food, arrived to pick it up & have them tell me an hour after waiting that they ran out of pungalu and didn't want to make more for the night so I was only getting part of my order. That really bothered me because I had been physically waiting inside the restaurant for an hour, why not tell me an hour earlier so I could go somewhere else? This place began a shining star to me, somewhere I ate weekly, but with food quality declining, wait times increasing, and incorrect orders piling up, it's time to tap out and put this on the permanent no go list.

Garlic Naan Butter Chicken Chana Masala (Chick Peas)
    Meghan C.

The samosa was fresh and not heated up from frozen. The food came out delicious and fairly quick. The rice was great to mix in with the buttered chicken. Also got garlic naan and it was so fresh with fresh garlic. Will be returning for the weekend buffet.

They are busy, but the food is worth the weight
    Mariana M.

Isha was our server, and even thought they were busy, she always found time to come to our table and attend to our requests Tonight, we tries their goat curry special and chicken Tikka masala. We also ordered samosas as an appetizer and they were made to perfection. Good crunch on the outside, seating well and warm. We also ordered a ghee dosa, and it was very good too. My suggestion is that you come on a day that you have time and patience. Sometimes they are understaffed and the person working that day (today it was Isha), they do everything they can to attend everyone in time and still serve tables and take orders on the front desk. I don't mind waiting for my food because the wait is worth it.

Should have taken a pic before I ate, but I was so hungry! (plastic cups)
    Noël C.

The food is excellent. My diet is vegan and gluten free, and I had some dishes altered and prepared special by these amazing people. Such spectacular service. I would have marked this 5 stars if there weren't so many single use waste items. All cups were plastic. Glass would have been preferable. And the to-go containers were styrofoam instead of paper. That was disappointing. The ambiance was nice. Quiet. The weather is turning cold, and the dining room temperature is a bit on the chilly side. Otherwise, excellent place to dine.

    Fat, skin and hair
    Kendall N.

Why, why, why didn't I check out Barwarchi on Yelp before I ordered? Because I'd had their food many times in the past. Yes, I knew the service was terribly slow so I ordered ahead so that was OK, although the woman in the back who was apparently cooking yelled at the front-of-house guy, which was disconcerting. Price? Really expensive for what you get. Quality? It's gone really, really down. My chicken korma was about a 1/3rd fat and skin and I got a bonus piece of hair. Yes, that is a piece of white hair in my food next to the delicious (sarcastic) fat and skin. No, I won't be going back.

Do they have buffet on weekends? How much? Are drinks included?

Will you be open tomorrow (December 25th)?

Yes, we are open. Timings: 11 am to 3 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm

Will you be open tomorrow (December 25th)?

    Yes, we do Normal hours.

Do they have South Indian food like dosas, idlis and sambhar?

Yes, we sell several varieties of Dosa's, but no Idly. Our Dosa comes with 2 chutneys and Sambar too

Are any of their dishes dairy and egg free? I have allergies to both and while most Indian food has dairy (yogurt marinades) I love Indian flavors and miss it so! If I want it I make it at home myself dairy free (and egg free, of course). :) Thanks!

Hi - Yes! They do have a few vegan options (which are dairy and egg free). I'm unsure if they are safe if you have severe allergies though, I didn't quiz them on different food prep spaces, for example. They are very knowledgeable about ingredients…

Luckily the line wasn't too long and the person behind the register was swift. Next our server was great! Everything I tasted was good and I mean everything. Not one miss between my husband and me all night. But the dessert selection is what really got me. I have been to cruises, all inclusive resorts and plenty of casino buffets and the dessert spread here stood out. I came here during the holiday, Mother's Day, which had an influx of guests at the restaurant. The server throughout my dining experience was Tori. She was recently hired as a new server and wasn't too knowledgeable about the menu as of yet. With that being said, I desired to show patience and grace since she was still in the training stage. I proceeded to order the following items for dinner: * Oysters on the Half Shell (6) * Lobster Bisque Bowl * $29 Special - Filet Mignon & Jumbo Shrimp with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes The entire occurrence presented as quite interesting, to say the least. I first received the oysters. It had arrived with an empty serving vessel, which was supposed to be filled with the mignonette sauce. Tori quickly fixed this mistake. The oysters met expectations in terms of freshness and quality. They were very delicious with the mignonette sauce, cocktail sauce, and lemon juice. Then, I received the Lobster Tomato Bisque. The soup was lacking in flavor and needed help in the seasoning department. I grabbed the peppercorn grinder, which was readily available at the table. Upon twisting the grinder, a lot of peppercorns fell into the soup unfortunately. I kindly requested that Tori replace the soup. A nearby table had the same situation, where an individual had a bunch of pink salt spill over the baked potato dish. Tori was also their server. I noticed that Tori pointed at me and mentioned to the party that I did the same action. When making that observation, I was quite embarrassed. I understood that Tori was trying to make the other table feel better but the finger-pointing provided a slightly unpleasant feeling to me. I finally received the Filet Mignon & Jumbo Shrimp with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes as the entree. However, it took a total of 1.5 hours to arrive at the table. It was quite long and a little frustrating, especially since I've noticed that a couple of parties that seated after me ordered the same meal deal and their food arrived before mine. The steak and shrimp were delectable. The green beans were bland (used butter, pepper + salt) and the mashed potatoes were decent in flavor. All in all, the evening at Boomtown Steakhouse was underwhelming. From the food taking a while to come out, sitting down at a wobbly table, the soup tasting bland, and the overall hospitality from Tori, the experience left some room to be desired. At the end, I truly appreciated the complimentary chocolate mousse dessert. This offering made up slightly for everything that had transpired. I don't recommend visiting this restaurant on a holiday, including Mother's Day. When I decide to return here, it will be on a regular weekday.

This is my second time here. The first time I came was years ago when they first opened and I was…read morenot impressed. They seemed to have improved since then. Make reservations. This spot gets busy and the wait time can be long. Once seated, you get a rundown of how everything works. If you have been to a Brazilian steakhouse before, you'll be familiar with the set up. You have a chip to flip to green if you want to be offered more and then it can be flipped to red to signal you are taking a break. Wait staff are very observant and offer meats if your chip is green. It was nice when wait staff asked if there was an option we had not gotten to try yet and he made it a point to make sure it came our way at some point during the meal. I was disappointed with how some of the meat was cooked but it's understandable since it's a large portion to be served to everyone. Some of the lamb and sirloin were very dry. The tri tip and rib eyes were the best. Their salad bar in the middle is unlimited but of course you don't want to fill up on sides. I'd suggest the scallop potatoes and the mushroom risotto. Lots of drink options and wine. They were coming around serving a liquer 43 cocktail which was actually incredibly enjoyable. A little bit of a caffeine kick to get you through the heavy meal. Overall, better experience but there are still areas I think can be improved to make this even better and can stand with other comparable Brazilian restaurants around the CA/NV areas.
