My favorite Indian restaurant in the Clear Lake area! We always come for the lunch buffet and it is always fresh and piping hot. The garlic naan is on our table before we even get back from grabbing some grub and the drinks are always crisp! The tandoori chicken, saag paneer and the butter chicken are a few of our favorites and it pairs perfectly with the naan. The taste is nicely balanced between creamy with the tartness of the tomato. The basmati represents basmati. The 2 samosas came hot and crispy-props to uber eats, although the menu says it comes with 3. Some kind of brown sauce came with my samosas and it tasted sweetly bland after having the masala. Today I was treated as if I didn't belong in this restaurant and more over like they didn't want me there. My entire dining experience was ruined when it could have been handled so much differently. HORRIBLE SERVICE with several incidents! Incident #1: I came in to dine in because previously I ordered via Uber eats, and they forgot a portion of my order. You are given a bottle of room temperature water with no ice. *2. I ordered a lamb biryani pot & goat saag. I was getting ready to place another order to go and was rudely interrupted and told that was going to be more than enough food for me (apparently, looking at or relating to my size). He didn't know that I was ordering for someone else as well so I didn't bother placing the remainder of the order. **3. While sitting, I was watching him, clean off another table, where he was spraying chemical cleaner all over the salt and pepper, shaker, and napkins the table he was spraying down. He never wiped off the sugar, salt & pepper shaker so whoever uses, those items will have remnants of chemical cleaner in their food, or on their hands and face from the napkin. 4. At a glance, you notice that the location is not very clean. The vents are rusted and nasty and filters probably have not been cleaned in forever I just looking at the vents. ***5. I requested to have the garlic naan served a few minutes early because I was having a low blood sugar problem and I was told "NO" by the server that it would come out with my food in about two minutes. I requested for again, and it still never showed up until it came out with the food. ****6. I noticed that there was a little to no meat in the lamb biryani pot Upon receiving my food. There was a lot of biryani but no meat. When I requested an understanding of the dish, I was told that you only receive 8 to 10 pieces of meat but there was even less than that small and shredded. I should not be able to count my meat in rice. 7. From that point point on I had to serve myself anything that I needed including my own to go containers. *****8. The server got snappy with me When I requested the ticket, I was charged for an item that I should not have been charged for. The server corrected the ticket and gave me a new one. I inquired about the 5% off when paying in cash and the server snapped at me again: telling me that I was not giving him a chance when he had already given me my ticket. Now the entire restaurant is involved because he's made a scene and brought attention to the situation. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE IS HORRIBLE!! I NEVER RAISED MY VOICE AT HIM, BUT HE RAISE HIS VOICE AT ME WITH IMPATIENCE ON MORE THAN ONE INCIDENT. I MADE SURE THAT I DID NOT LEAVE A TIP AND HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF EVER GOING BACK OR ORDERING ONLINE FROM THEM. IT IS CLEAR THAT THEY ARE NICKEL AND DIMING THE MOST IMPORTANT PORTIONS OF THEIR MEAL WHICH IS THE MEAT. You were paying $16-$18 a dish for maybe 8 to 10 pieces of shredded meat. IF THE KITCHEN LOOKS ANYTHING LIKE THE REST OF THE Restaurant, then it probably is not clean either I rarely leave reviews because I understand on average that we are all just trying to make it. I love Desi Kitchen! There has been a revolving few Indian restaurants in this area, and I'm glad Desi Kitchen is the one that stuck around. The lunch buffet is great. There's always a fun variety of dishes to try, plus you get hot buttery naan. One frustration I've had eaten at Indian restaurants is the fairly large portions and long list of dishes that I'm unfamiliar with. We end up ordering the same 4-5 dishes. Desi Kitchen's great buffet has helped us learn mode dishes that we love and can try in small portions. NOTE: their butter chicken is made with almonds -- it's not marked anywhere so please ASK if you or a loved one has allergies. Because it's difficult to tell with curries, I wish they'd adjust their menu and signage to reflect allergen ingredients. This restaurant has the best carryout for the Hyderabadi Dum Biryani (Vegetarian) that we have utilized very frequently. In terms of other dishes, the Kurma ranked very well, but the North Indian dishes were not unto par because there was a Southern bent to them making the dishes not very authentic. read more

So many issues with this place. 1st we stood at the counter with no one walking out the kitchen to help us for a few mins. I walked around the counter and had to ask if we sit ourselves or order 1st. Every question we asked the waitress had to run to the back and ask the kitchen including if they had sweet tea. Not making that one up. We ordered and when I checked in on Yelp I got a free soda so I showed the notice. They said they don't honor those. Really? You knew someone yelped and you said no to the free .50 can of coke? Not smart. Next issue was they brought my wife out her food and I sat there waiting on my food for 10 mins and they waitress finally came back to the table and asked how everything was and I said I never got my food. Oh she must have not put the order in.... there was 2 people and 2 orders of food how do you forget 1/2 the order. I finally got mine. About the time my wife was done with hers. She said hers was ok and I tasted it and didn't care for it. Also they were skimpy on the chicken. Now mine butter chicken. Basic comfort food and should be easy. This is our third trip and we are big fans. Thursday is Street food night and you can load up on samosas and other goodies for 2.99 a plate. It's not a huge place or fancy by any means but it's comfortable and the food is well-priced, delicious and quick to arrive. We received good service the last time we were in and have also enjoyed take out. When we had take out- our order got mixed up and we ended up with paneer masala instead of butter nan but my husband got to enjoy a new dish- so harm done. Unfortunately I cannot recommend a business where only a portion of the staff is wearing masks. The person running the register was taking orders and not wearing a mask.
