We hired Design Pro for three projects: a complete room makeover, including taking the room down to the studs and new hardwood flooring, a front porch replacement, a new front door install, and tiling a fireplace and hearth. Design Pro was reasonably priced, the workers were polite and friendly, and they were on schedule. They also did a wonderful job. Showed up on time and worked until they got the job done. We purchased a home flipped by design pro, and yes we know these issues come with flips, but shocked to see such positive reviews on Google. They installed an HVAC in our older home with no insulation causing leaks in our ceiling. In one of their bathroom remodels the tile is cracking after two years and there were gaps in the tile and near the counter at installation. Writing this review 2 years post purchasing our home because their shower shelf is so uneven that a full bottle of shampoo just slid off the shelf (as it does almost daily) and almost hit our newborn. the quality of the work is not very good. the painting especially. the communication was bad. it was a constant passing of the buck, people not answering cause they were "in training", etc. It felt as though no one was actually in charge of the project. the follow through was nonexistent. yesterday, a door handle came off a closet door easily, the paint is chipped, blobbed, and done poorly, etc. even the small stuff like getting new air register vents that weren't falling off took multiple calls / trips / dirty hand prints on their so-so paint job. apparently, your project needs to he more than 100k to keep their attention. my advice is to keep looking. read more

Design Pro Remodeling was recommended by a neighbor, so we called to request an appointment for a remodeling project. Had to call 3 or 4 times over a period of several weeks JUST to get the appointment, then waited a week for Steven Papodopolous to come out. When he finally came, he made a video of the area we wanted to remodel and said that his electrician and his carpenter would contact us. We never heard back from any of them. Wasted a lot of time waiting for the initial appointment and way too much effort following up, only to be totally blown off. Very bad way to do business. read more

Design Pro Remodeling is a ONE STOP do EVERYTHING contractor - if that's what you need, look no further! We contacted Aaron for some estimates for our primary residence resulting from an HOA inspection. We needed to repair our fence, power wash our siding, and replace rotten wood - they did it ALL! They completed the work within two weeks, did a PHENOMENAL job, and at a great price. We passed our HOA re-inspection with flying colors!! Due to Design Pro's great work at our house, we hired them to upgrade our rental townhouse which is going on the market for sale. Same same - they did power washing, rotten wood repair, and ALL the interior painting (and without being asked caulking and repairs). They, again, did phenomenal work in less than 2 weeks, and for a great price! Finally, the billing and invoicing was super easy, and Kelsey was super helpful in keeping us informed and making payments a breeze. This is a difficult review to write since I genuinely enjoyed the people we encountered at Design Pro. Unfortunately, the quality of work, communication, and pricing are all very underwhelming and disappointing. I selected DP after receiving 3 estimates for renovating a condo. With respect to communication, it was difficult knowing what was true and what was not. One day, I'm told they can't put sconces on a certain wall and then the next time I visited the home, sconces were installed on that wall. Great! But why did you say they couldn't be/what changed? Another example - They presented the only options for shower door hardware and then suddenly there were more options when the designer asked. One day I'm told the kitchen wall needs rebuilt and it will be an extra cost, then when I question, I'm told it's stable enough. They never brought up the fact that the kitchen wall had a different issue, not at demo, not at cabinet install. I only noticed it by chance - the cabinets weren't all even once up. A good contractor notices things like that and brings it to the client. The neighbors often complained about liquid falling onto their balcony or noise, and Design Pro didn't seem to take it seriously because it kept happening (if you have sensitive neighbors I would skip Design Pro). Often times I felt like we were talking in circles or like I was hitting my head against a wall. The project manager, Matt Meehan, was recommended by a family friend. He's a very nice guy but ended up having a very minor role and disappeared in February while the project continues except to check on the last invoice. I think I could count on two, maybe one hand, how often he came to the site. I should have known to move on when Matt asked a few times "if I wanted to pull DC permits" as if it was up to me as a homeowner and as if I knew anything about DC regulations (turns out we 1000% needed permits for this gut job). Our project was delayed months due to the fact that Design Pro didn't recommend permits. I understood that projects often take longer than usual and asked that Design Pro let me know as soon as they knew that there was no way move-in would happen before Christmas. That simple request was ignored. I finally gave them a deadline of Feb. 1, and then they asked for 2 more weeks. I had to cancel the movers and rush to find somewhere to live. Meanwhile, when I'd stop over in the middle of the day, there were many days no one would be here working. Regarding craftsmanship, Design Pro likely has talented crews and maybe can do a decent job on some simple projects. However, if you're looking for a reasonably well done luxury job and spending six figures, I would recommend elsewhere. The finishes in the condo are sloppy. The closet doors were either not measured correctly or not put on correctly. They will respond and say these are punch list items (I will report back once fixed), but some of these things have been worked on multiple times and I'm not sure why anyone would be happy with that initial work. Their response to literally cracking the marble tile during the grout process was that it happens often with the tile chosen. They don't seem to have super high level floor people (e.g. hoping to do a herringbone engineered wood entryway but after two tries, it was determined DP couldn't complete it.) This is also obvious by the fact that the marble border around the bathroom floor tile is different widths at various places (and tiling took almost 3 months). Some of the costs of certain line items is outrageous in my humble opinion. I certainly upgraded in some areas and want to pay them fairly. But $700 for copper compression fittings that we never knew about? $1900 for four recessed lights on top of the almost 5k to drop the ceiling that the lights were going in? $500 up-charge because we went with two wall sconces in the half bath as opposed to one? Outside of one or two "add-ons", we were never given change orders. I wish everyone at Design Pro the best. I would not recommend them for complex or high-end projects. read more

We can't possibly give Design Pro a high enough glowing review, but let us try! Everyone on the team was kind, polite, patient, skilled, and professional. Here is our review of our experience working with Design Pro. We bought a home with an unfinished basement and we hired Design Pro to finish it for us. They put in a legal bedroom (with egress window), a beautiful bathroom, a huge office / man-cave, a home movie theater room (to include a riser for movie theater chairs and a 100" HDTV mounted on the wall), and a small concessions room for popcorn, soda, and candy. Our project manager was Andy Robison. Andy was always so responsive and kind. Design Pro is truly lucky to have him. The way Design Pro works, from what we saw, was as follows. Design Pro has various "teams". A plumbing team, a landscape team, an electric team, a HVAC team, a tile team, a welding team, etc. Each team did excellent work. It's clear to me that they have worked together for many years and on many projects. Design Pro has basically assembled the best teams in the area, who perform excellent work, and provide a professional installation. These teams help the overall brand image of Design Pro for sure. Someone else said, price-wise, Design Pro "was in the middle", and that's where you want a remodeling company to be at. I agree. I am sure I could've found someone who could've done the project cheaper, but the end product and experience would have been, without doubt, inferior to what we received. I am also sure I could've found other companies who would've charged more for Design Pro's service, but I am not sure the end product or experience would've been better because I can't imagine a better end product or experience than what we had with Design Pro! I would not only recommend Design Pro to anyone reading this, I would also recommend each and every one of their team's as well. Not once was someone rude, or told us no, or made excuses for something. Not once. It was always kindness, and recommendations to do this or that, again based on their experience, which we always greatly appreciated. For example, we sent a link to a blue bathroom vanity to Andy for his thoughts and he said this was very trendy and popular right now. You can't really put a price on a remodeling company who has their finger on the pulse of the area and what is trending or not, you know? We are so pleased with Design Pro, that we have already handed out Design Pro cards to several neighbors and friends. And we have already requested an estimate to remodel our 3 bathrooms upstairs. So, we will be hiring Design Pro again in the future, no question. Thank you to Andy, to Andrew, and to the entire Design Pro team. Stay away from Design Pro. First, they did not fulfill their contract with us to paint and do dry wall/trim repairs at our house. They lied, cheated, and now they are threatening to put a lein on our property! Extremely unethical, unprofessional, and unknowledgeable in paint. Secondly, we have since had a professional painter come in, test and verify that Design Pro painted water based latex paint over our existing oil based paint without doing the proper prep work, and now ALL of our trim is peeling and needs to be stripped and repainted. This is a MAJOR screw up on their part and will cost us many thousands of dollars to fix. Any professional, legit painter should know better. If I rub my finger down the trim, the paint just peels right off! These guys don't know what they are doing. I am an interior designer by trade, and my dad is a retired GC. My grandfather had a drywall business. My cousin has a painting business (all out of town) so I am highly experienced in home renovations. Aside from the massive screw up with our trim paint, our contract with Design Pro remodeling explicated stated they would repair ceiling dry wall seams with new tape/spackle, repair dry wall seams on walls (and nail pops), sand all trim completely, along w/ filling in dings and dents in the wood trim prior to painting. Look at the photos, they speak for themselves. The photos are of the finished product we got from them, after they told us they were done, unless we wanted to pay more out of pocket, beyond the agreed upon contract price. They didn't complete the work in the contract, were really sloppy, did not supervise their painters who left early, slacked off, and then refused to finish the work without us paying more. Some GC's do this, and try to shake you down for more money at the end. MD, the project manager, lied to me repeatedly. Texted me repeatedly stating he would fix everything and do the repairs and fulfill the agreed upon contract (maybe I'll upload screenshots of theses conversations as proof they lied). Then the next day they basically walked out when they couldn't shake us down for more money. Javier who is their subcontracted painter, was supposed to be at the house supervising his crew. He was not here. I only met him finally at the end, when he fed me every excuse in the book as to why the paint job looked sloppy. I felt like because I am a woman I was being lied to. My husband is the one who contracted Design Pro, but I got involved when he was not here as I saw the work not getting done right. My father is a retired GC, has done residential and commercial work, built many of the skyscrapers in Philadelphia. He is the real deal. I would call him and tell him what the painters and project manager were telling me, and he told me they are straight up lying to me. If you end up hiring Design Pro, do not let them bring Javier into your home for painting. His crew is awful, lied to me and told me they put five coats of paint on my trim which you will see in photos is false. Said they painted two coats on dry wall, when they only painted one. Javier would tell me things like he couldn't sand out and fix paint drips caused by his crew because the paint was peeling too much. Well, the paint was peeling because he painted latex over oil paint without proper bonding primer! I was even lied to and told they painted 5 coats on the living room mantle, but in the photos you can visably see missing paint. Even Design Pro's project manager said to me one day, "Are they blind" referring to how bad the paint job was. Paint drips everywhere, bubbles in the paint, dust in the painted trim from a dirty brush, and they even put scratches in my brand new hardwood floors that had just been completed 1.5 weeks prior. They were supposed to pull the dry wall tape off the ceiling, put new tape, spackle, etc. to hide the seams and they didn't do that. I could go on and on about all the things they didn't do that were in the agreed upon contract. But the biggest screw up is that they painted the latex over oil based paint without doing the correct prep work and now it is peeling. A professional painter told us all this trim painted by Design Pro now needs to be stripped. Who is going to pay for that huge costly mistake? Design Pro really messed up and they have some nerve threatening us now. I will update this review of Design Pro as this issue continues to unfold, and I will continue to spread the word about this business so that other homeowners don't go through what we are currently going through and then get threatened with leins on their homes. Really disappointing. UPDATE.... It has been several weeks now and we are STILL trying to repair the damaged caused by Design Pro. Weeks and weeks of stripping paint after Design Pro painted latex over existing oil paint without doing the proper prep work first. Still have not heard back about what they are planning to do to make this right. read more

We got a lot of renovation done throughout our house with Design Pro. Our project manager was Pauqar. I highly recommend them! I got a lot of personal references before I started using them and was happy to say that I was not disappointed. The best thing about design Pro is that they genuinely want to make sure the customer is happy. Renovation can be extremely stressful and they did as much as they could to make it manageable. The team is very calming and willing to listen and work with you to get to a good solution. They are all very open to feedback which I loved. They completed a lot of work on my house within a really good timeframe and they did not cause any delays. They also were great with doing all the permitting and building everything to code. I've worked with a lot of contractors and some of them caused me a lot of stress because they caused delays or made mistakes and then became defensive about them, but Design Pro was not one of them! read more

They take a lot of pride in what they do, which is a credit to their craftsmanship. I had a major water leak from the upstairs bath that cracked my ceiling and was dripping. Following the contracted plumbing work, DesignPro came in and opened my ceiling, checked for mold, and remediated, patched and painted in record time. Communications with Pooyan, the team lead, were professional and comprehensive. They also built a huge patio & several retaining walls. Our constant drainage problems are now history. Design Pro does beautiful work. I felt that they delivered top quality for fair price. Everyone is nice, polite, hardworking, helpful. The team is very responsive to questions & concerns (of which I had few). They returned 6 months after completion to fix 2 very small concerns....and they came within a week of my email informing them of the issue. Great people to work with! I've used DesignPro for years and have been pleased with their work, but in the past year, their workmanship has degraded severely. Our tile flooring was cracking throughout, so I asked them to 1) remove the tile, 2) place a subfloor to even out the floor, then 3) install new commercial grade vinyl planks. After a couple of missed appointments, they showed up unannounced, and removed the tile without a dust barrier, creating a dusty mess throughout the house. Then they told me that the vinyl plank that I wanted was on back order, so I had to go with a different color and style. They then neglected to install the subfloor and installed the vinyl planks on the uneven floor. The planks visibly bounce when you step on them. They tried to convince me that everything was fine, so I had to hire another contractor to take pictures and videos of the issues. I'm waiting for a resolution. I'll update my review if the problem gets fixed. I had similar issues with an electrical job that they did in the basement. read more

DISCLAIMER: I'M WRITING THIS ON MY WIFE'S ACCOUNT! We had Jeff and his crew recommended to us by a friend who had used him for some work they had done - after talking with a few different contractors we decided to go with Jeff & team for a relatively major renovation of our kitchen/dining room and master bath. Here is a quick run-down of the pros & cons of using Design Pro. Pros: 1. Price was fair and better than some of the other quotes we received - they stuck to the price throughout and didn't nickel & dime us on changes we wanted. 2. Jeff, Edgar (main foreman) and the rest of the Design Pro folks were generally very good about responding to communications quickly. 3. They went the extra mile to try to make us happy - we had a variety of small tweaks that we wanted throughout the process and they always took them on at no extra cost without pushing back. 4. They more of less stuck to the timeline (6 weeks) - things drug on a bit towards the end though (see #1 under cons). 5. While multiple companies/contractors were involved, we were able to deal with Jeff & Edgar which kept things simpler - definitely easier than juggling different companies. Cons: 1. Some of the crew was pretty sloppy when it came to quality of workmanship - this resulted in a number of fixes/remedies that took additional time, and at times the "fixes" made things worse resulting in even more rework - a little more attention to detail by the crew could have saved a lot of time & expense. 2. Detail/structure of communications & project management - while Jeff, Edgar, and the team responded quickly to communications, things sometimes got lost in the shuffle and the way they handled changes to the contract during the upfront part of the process made things confusing at times; additionally, when it came time to provide receipts at the end of the project they just sent tons of pictures of receipts with various items that made it hard to determine what was what - they could use some "project management 101" work. Overall, we were quite happy with the end product of the renovation and while there were a few small bumps along the way, Design Pro was always looking for ways to ensure we were satisfied customers. read more

It's been well over a year now since I had my carpet replaced with hardwood floors in my condo. However, I felt the need to review after being sent an email reminder recently. What I'd hoped to be a small, quick project turned out to be long and annoying. Most of the issues stemmed from lack of communication/coordination between Brad, the contractors and myself. Here's a rundown of what happened: - I wasn't told it was going to be a two day job until a few days before the installation date. Had to delay and reschedule. - Due to strict condo policies, reservation of the loading dock is required. I was told that for the actual installation that it wasn't needed by Brad, but that was incorrect. They needed to haul out the carpet. The contractor crew didn't reach out to me prior to arrival. Instead, they decided to talk to the management staff who turned them away.. With prior notice, I could've at least talked to management first and try coordinating use of the dock. Rescheduled.. - Eventually, we were able to get the work done. On the second day when it was completed, I wasn't given any heads up that it was done. I would've liked to check it out before them leaving, but maybe that wasn't possible since the floor needed to rest before use. - There was no followups from Brad regarding the work completion/satisfaction. I reached out to Brad because I noticed some minor issues with gaps between planks (end to end) and shoe molding to floor. He sent the contract foreman over to review. - On the day the foreman was scheduled to come, he didn't show up at all. I didn't hear anything in the morning and reached out in the afternoon. Apparently, he wasn't going to make it because he had to help out with another job. It would've been nice to know that instead of waiting the whole day for him... Rescheduled.. He was able to put some putty down to mask the visible gaps. It turns out I didn't give it a hard enough look because I did notice other gaps between the planks and molding. While the work itself was fine with some minor defects, the miscommunication led to frustration and delayed timeline. Some of those issues could have been easily avoided if I'd had direct contact with the foreman from the onset. read more

During emergencies he would get a team over to one of my houses immediately. his cost would be fair and reasonable . I had an absolutely amazing experience with Brad from DesignPro Remodeling! From the first time he stepped into the house, I could tell he knew exactly what he was doing - he foresaw all of the potential problems and offered solutions before we ever got the work started. Brad was professional and kind and cared so much about doing the best job! He was incredibly quick in his communication, and got the work done in record time, ahead of schedule. Even after the work was done, there were some minor fixes, and he didn't hesitate to rectify the issues when asked. I am forever grateful to our condo facilities engineer for hooking us up with Sebastian Manley, Project Manager at DesignPro Remodeling, after a ceiling leak required extensive repairs and renovation work in our living room and dining areas.  He had seen DesignPro's work in another unit of our building and was impressed by what he saw. Sebastian responded to our request for an estimate promptly and carefully reviewed with us the elements of the job that lay ahead.  Workmen were on the scene in short order and did an outstanding job resurfacing and painting our concrete ceilings - a tricky job under the most favorable of circumstances - and repairing and repainting all of our damaged walls.  When I returned to our apartment to review the work, I was thrilled with the results. I was also delighted at how thoroughly the workmen had cleaned up after themselves.  They did an excellent job of covering up all the furnishings and carpeting. Everything was just as I'd hoped it would be. I should also mention that the price was right: the estimate came in $200 under the amount of my insurance company's estimate. This was Phase 1 of the work we needed done. Phase 2 involves a complete renovation of our kitchen. We're not considering anyone else but DesignPro to do the job. They're courteous, friendly, professional, responsive, on-time and competent.  Five stars! read more
