Dana truly is a designer. Our wedding was this past June, on 6/18/17, and Dana's floral arrangements truly made our wedding venue and decor pop! My husband and I did a lot of DIY for our wedding, seeing that we were on a budget. Nonetheless, Dana was able to work with us to make our special day, that much more special. We came across Flowers by Dana (Designer Dana) through Wedding Time, a bridal boutique in LA, and they were offering a special package deal. Dana was the florist in this package. When we met with Dana, instead of rushing us to "seal the deal", Dana just took down our interests, styles, and our color scheme. She is very observant, and takes in all of the detail. When it came closer to our wedding, about a month out, she met with us at our venue to get a scope of the environment and area. We weren't the most prepared for the site visit, so she gave us extra time to pick out pictures and inspirations to send to her. She is very responsive to text messages, and never kept us waiting. Finally, when we sent her the pictures of flower designs that we wished we'd have, she sent us a sample arrangement of what we'd see at our wedding! Dana is a gift from God to me. My wedding is on 11/11/17 at the Oakroom in Calamigos ranch, Malibu. I called Dana for a meeting but forgot about it. Meanwhile, I was about to pay for the other florist that I was kinda struggling about his style, which is quite tacky, but the price is cheaper than the others. Fortunately, she called me, so I decided to meet her first. As soon as I saw her works, I love it. All her works are phenomenal and classic with a taste. The idea of the design is very clear and direct. During the meeting, she understood all my requests and ideas, though she is not very fluent in English. The price was under-priced compared to the other florists. I paid the deposit on our first meeting. About 2 weeks before the wedding, she made half of the centerpiece to get approval. It esd exactly what I asked for. I requested to get inspired by the tree of life in the movie Avatar but with greens. It was beautiful!! I sent the picture to my mother in law, the first comment she had was ' It is gorgeous. It looks like the tree of life in Avatar.' On my wedding day, I was astonished. She did more than I requested. The dropping flowers on the arch were beyond stunning. I was ecstatic about it as soon as I walked into the venue and just stood there looking at it. Designer Dana is my SAVIOR, my FLOWER ANGEL. I was a deranged bride because I didn't have the best of luck with finding the right florist. I switched over 3 times before meeting Dana, literally 1 month before my wedding date. The florist right before Dana seemed reasonable with price at first, until I realized that EVERY little detail that I wanted to upgrade couldn't be done without paying extra. When I met Dana, I was shocked to see her agree without a problem to the prettier candle holders that I wanted, the crystal flower stands instead of the plain fabric stands, etc., all under the budget that I had given her. I'm so glad I booked Dana for my wedding! She is so sweet and easy to work with, and her artistic intuition means she needs very little guidance in creating what you're looking for--just a couple reference pictures for inspiration. I also appreciated that she was not pushy at all; I had a pretty limited budget for flowers for my wedding, which Dana worked hard to accommodate instead of trying to get me to order extra arrangements. I do recommend Dana as a florist for your special day. She is responsive to customers, pleasant to work with, and has a good sense of style. I came across Dana through a wedding package I had done with a different store. With it, I would be able to get a set amount of small center pieces, ceremony flowers, bouquets, boutonnieres, flowers for the cake, and some flowers to tie across the chairs in the aisle. Dana was accommodating and showed us some pictures of possible flower arrangements we might like. She was also responsive when I would send her pictures of possible flower arrangements I was interested in. Given that we did it through a package, we were limited in size, number, and flower type. We decided to pay extra for extra center pieces and upgraded half of them to be taller while keeping the rest short (*a great tip if you want to add some level/movement in your reception hall for pictures*). The vases from the center pieces were part of the flower arrangement costs, so that guests could just take them easily. We did also pay extra for one extra bridesmaid bouquet as well as for some small bouquets to be hung on the way to the ceremony aisle. Dana called us a couple months before the wedding day to show us a sample of what the center piece would look like, and told us that the wedding ceremony flowers as well as bouquet would be similar to it. The flowers were beautifully arranged and they looked amazing. The colors were vivid, and she used the right amount of "greens" to make the center pieces look bigger and fuller. We left her store feeling quite pleased with the arrangements. Having to pay extra even for the small things (like 4 very small flower bouquets to hang on the ceremony path) despite us already paying for the upgrades in taller center pieces, extra center pieces, and extra BM bouquet/GM boutonniere felt a bit offsetting as a customer. Nevertheless, I must say that Dana definitely delivered her work in style on the wedding day. The flowers were nice and fresh, and the bouquets were beautiful (my BM's ones were a bit smaller than mine but matched it perfectly). The flower arrangement that was on top of the gazebo arch during the ceremony got moved to the top of our reception sweetheart table where it looked stunning. The small flower bouquets lining the way into the ceremony aisle as well as the ribbon and petals on the ground made the entire place seem out of a fairy tale. Overall, I would say that even without those upgrades and extras, I am sure Dana's flower arrangements would have been amazingly beautiful. However, if you want that extra "oomph", I can say with confidence that I did not regret spending the extra money in her business. read more
