I've only been in SA for 4 months now and it's been hectic trying to find some place to get my hair done. Either they won't answer their business phones or ignore the voicemail messages. So, I haven't had a good time finding a salon. When my co-worker told me about Diva's I was happy and called them later that day. I was able to set up an appointment for the next day, Saturday.
There were good and bad parts to my initial visit. Some bad things were their customer service. Upon entering the salon I greeted everyone and all i got were stares, until I greeted them again. Next, I was told to come at 3:30pm vice 4:00pm, but when I did, I still had to wait for at least 15-20mins. I got the feeling they really didn't want to braid my hair. I was asked what style I wanted and given a binder to view some styles. As I was viewing the photos, the lady kept asking me if I made a decision. Once I did, I showed her and told her I needed the ends trimmed and I got the feeling like it was too much to ask...her response made me feel that way. She told me the price for the style I chose. I voiced my thought on the price . There was a little friction there for a little while because I had another experience at another braiding place where I was quoted one thing on the phone and told another when I came into the salon. So I was already skeptical about that.
Needless to say, in the end Hair Braider (was never told her name) did alright during the braiding process until almost at the end when she was talking on her cellphone. She was a bit rough as she was braiding and trying to untangle the braid. Scraping me a few times on my neck as she combed through the hair. She did apologize, but I felt she should be mindful of what she was doing, especially with a potential client. The entire time I was there, they spoke their native language with some brief English thrown in. All in all, I have to say that she did a great job with my hair and I'm pleased at the outcome...minus all the negativity. read more
