Went today after calling last week with no reply. Their windows are papered over with a sign that says closed effective immediately. All customer files have been transferred to Cook and Hayden. I really appreciated my experience buying a very nice pair of frameless eye ware from Tomz Optical. I came in the door, with a prescription, looking for frames, for what seemed like over 2 years. I explained my particular needs; astigmatism issues, headaches to large or clunky frames, progressive lenses, etc. He literally pulled a pair off the shelf and when I put them on, they were perfect! Waiting a couple weeks to have them made to fit my face correctly was torture, but I am very satisfied! read more

I stepped on my wire frames and they were in pretty tough condition. I called Tomz and they told me they were able to repair glasses. That in itself is fairly rare today. I stopped in to see the team. They assessed the glasses and took them to work their magic. 5 minutes later my glasses were on my head, as good as new. I could not be happier. Steve Zizka bent, damaged, and scratched my eyeglass frames while attempting to mask the incorrectly sized lenses he had installed in them. There are multiple scratches and indentations in the metal frame, which occurred when Steve Zizka used small pliers to bend the frame while I was sitting in front of him. When the initial bending was not successful in masking the issues with the lenses, he retreated to a back room and tried to bend the frames again. To clarify, the condition Steve Zizka was trying to mask by bending the eyeglass frame was his installation of a pair of lenses that were neither the same shape nor size! It took three emails and the threat of a BBB claim to get Steve Zizka to eventually respond on 5-May-17. When he did reply to the third email, Steve did not deny that he had damaged the eyeglass frame and said he would order a replacement part for the frame and refund the price paid for the lenses. When Steve was asked via email on 5-May-17 when the replacement part would arrive, he claimed he would have it the following week. After multiple attempts to confirm the status of the part went without a specific date of expected delivery, I disputed the $215 charge for the lenses with the credit card company. After learning I had disputed the $215 charge, Steve claimed he had no evidence the office damaged my frames and considered the matter closed. Steve Zizka damaged my eyeglass frames as I sat in front of him. He also claimed twice that the replacement part was ordered and would arrive "soon." His latest claim that he has no evidence the office damaged my frames when he knows full well that he himself damaged them is clear evidence he is an untrustworthy business owner. After 7 weeks of dealing with Steve at Tomz Optical, I have damaged Silhouette frames (not cheap) and two lenses of different sizes and shapes. If you have money, time and expensive eyeglass frames to waste, Tomz Optical is the place for you! read more

I was excited when I called Tomz Optical and asked about pricing for progressive lenses....I was happy to find out that they were cheaper than every other place I called. I was also exicted to find out that both pairs of my glasses would be ready within the week. I am sitting here, less than excited, because I still do not have the correct sets of glasses. Their customer service leaves alot to be desired. I have not once received a phone call regarding the status of my glasses...I've always had to call. Additionally, I paid $80 more than I was quoted on the phone for the lenses! I will not be going back to this establishment nor will I recommend my friends to shop there. read more

The good: Took my glasses here to have them repaired. They were able to unfold them after I slammed them in a car door. It was free. The bad: They're kinda expensive, I bought the glasses and some contacts here. Later I found better prices, but oh well. Most of the staff was helpful, but they eye doc was a little short with me. Overall: I would recommend if you needed to try a place out. But If you have a better place I'm all ears...and eyes. ;) read more

Tomz Optical is FANTASTIC!! After calling 30 different optical/jewelry stores in Livingston County to help me repair the nose pad arm of my glasses, Tomz was the only place that was able to fix them. The staff (I met Mary and Dr Stephen) were incredibly understanding and really made me feel comfortable. The entire repair took about an hour and my glasses were good as new. The cost was $25 (very reasonable, I got quotes from jewelry stores that were in the range of $40-$50). Going forward, I will always go to Tomz for my glasses repairs and frames. Will never go back. First of all, they will price gouge you. Especially if you pay out of pocket. Tell you they're having a "sale" on frames but even the sale price is double what you can get the exact same frames for somewhere else. If you order glasses, they won't bother to tell you what all the expensive extras are going to cost, they'll just write them up. Completely IGNORE you when you walk in the door. I stood there right in front of him until he was done with the one other customer in the store before he even ACKNOWLEDGED me. No one at the front desk. Used to be I'd pay for my contacts when I picked them up. Now suddenly I'm asked to pay up front. So I paid $100 cash toward them and he just took the bill and gave me NO RECEIPT. Wth? And I WAITED and WAITED over a month for my contacts to come in. I kept calling to see if they were in and they'd tell me "middle of next week" then that would pass, still not in. When I called to find out they finally came in (they never called me), I went to pick them up and they told me had ordered the wrong ones so I had to wait and wait again.. read more

My husband got glasses so I thought I would try them too. Mary is very pleasant but the DO had an attitude and talked to me in a condescending way not on one visit but both. This is not a profession that you can't have some type of people skills! I have to go back because my contacts aren't fitting properly which I'm dreading because I know I will have to deal with him again. Prices are a bit pricey. ( $500 for glasses & contacts and I have eye insurance). Hard to have gone cheaper as the frames here are not very reasonable. read more

I LOVE Tomz Optical. Pricey? Maybe...but with eyes like mine, my glasses are pricey anywhere I go, so that's a tough comparison. I love the staff. For the negative reviewers, I feel like I was in a different store than you! I have never had a bad experience both times I have been there. Phone demeanor is pleasant, and in person....very pleasant...and professional. I WILL be back! read more

They are great. Super service and a very friendly atmosphere. I don't think the prices are very high compared to others I have visited.

Tomz is great with kids. Personal, friendly, painless and reasonable. Both of my kids had great service with Dr. Robyn and friendly staff. Definitely recommend. read more
