I made an appointment for someone to come out and do an estimate for painting the exterior of my…read morehome. It was an online booking system. I booked it and made plans to stay home so that I could meet the person and ask my questions. I received two email confirmations the day prior and then the next day no one showed up. I emailed Mark to ask if someone had been by without letting us know and his response was that our appointment slipped through their cracks and they were booked up and would I like an estimate for next season. The issue I have is if you're booked through next season, it might be nice to display that on your website. If online booking is your way of making things convenient or easier for customers, then being completely full, yet still allowing people to book is opposite of convenient. Second, I imagine they feel their time is valuable. If this is the case then know that having potential customers sitting around waiting for you is completely unacceptable. I took a day off of work for this. Third, being booked out till next season is fine, but please don't accept online bookings. I am really annoyed and I don't plan to use a business that let my appointment "slip through the cracks". If they were not booked through the whole season, would they have let my appointment slip through the cracks?

This guy is a fraud, and you'll be in as difficult of a situation as I've found myself recently if you skip this review. I hired Howie after a week of searching for a handyman to install a doggie door in my new home. He came out on Oct 29th to perform the work, and although he was late to the appointment, he was efficient, quick and cheaply priced at $55 an hour and no required limit. I've had challenges with this from other handymen. I asked him to provide me with a quote on the basement renovation for my home - doing the floor, walls and electrical for a master bedroom and family room. He quickly agreed, took measurements and told me I'd get a quote. A week went by and I had to follow up - no quote. This was a problem I should not have avoided paying attention to! Howie contacts me a week later and asks to come over and get more measurements (he must have lost the first copy). He then provides me with a quote after asking for my budget. It's within it, but pretty high (especially for the quality of work). He doesn't have carpet or electrical in the quote either, and my budget is pretty set. He pushes me to add windows and trim among other things. I relent and ask him to add it. Again, more warning signs I ignored! He agrees to begin work the next day while I was out of town. I return a few days later to some work, but not nearly as much as I had expected. He claimed to be working 6 hours a day with him and another person. In reality he worked about 3 hours a day. How do I know? Because the day I was home while they were supposed to be working they put in about 2.5 hours total. In addition, they reeked of weed and made my house smell like pot at one point where I assumed they were smoking. I'm super allergic and sensitive to smoke, so I can tell almost immediately. I finally fired them after not getting a complete quote 8 days into the project that was supposed to take a week and getting no timeline on when they would finish (at 12 hours a day, it was adding up). They also damaged wall that wasn't supposed to be touched as Howie "wanted" to do things I didn't need done. They put in drywall on two walls without installing electrical outlets, although that was the plan. My new contractors had to rip a portion out to install the outlets. As a final insult to injury after overpaying them FOUR times more than I should have, I found out Howie's Home Improvement is NOT licensed, bonded or insured and am working with L&I to address this. I was in the process of gathering three bids, as I am relatively new to the area and wanted to make sure I was getting a fair price. The estimator showed up on time and did the measurements he needed to and then asked if he could come inside to talk with us about the estimate. Then the hard sell began. He said that if we signed up with AV Painting on the spot, even though I had not gotten a second or third estimate, he would be able to get me a lower price if we were willing to vouch for the company and allow them to put a sign in our yard. I told him I was not comfortable signing up with the first company I heard from. He then said that they would be willing to match another price or maybe it was that they would let me out of an agreement with them if I could prove that another company was providing the same service for less. I understand how these things work, however, and I told him no. I was going to get my other estimates because, well, I'm a responsible adult. This man continued to try to sell me on the company. I had to say no three or four times and basically had to ask him to leave. It must be said that I ended up getting three other estimates and not one of them came in and sat down at my dining table and harangued me about their estimate. Needless to say, I was pretty turned off. But this was just the beginning. Over the course of the next weeks and now months, I have made clear more than four times that I will not be hiring them. I got a call two weeks ago and nearly yelled at the man to please leave me alone. I told him that they had lost my business and that I was not interested. This has not stopped them from contacting me. In fact, I just received an email today. Literally months after I have told them via email and via phone that I was not interested in hiring them, I am still receiving contacts from this company. At this point, I'm actually curious how they get any business at all. They have somehow found a way to match aggressive, hard sell tactics with a complete inability to respond to clear communication. If I could give zero stars I would. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the time and hassle of dealing with this unprofessional company.

I called and had a quote in just a few days, the job was scheduled within three weeks. They showed up on site and were professional and maintained a clean worksite. They pressure washed one day and they had to postpone the painting for a few days due to weather. They returned on time and worked full days finishing the job on time. They were very meticulous about the prep and caulking, prep took longer than the painting. I felt i got a fair price, great workmanship and a really good looking paint job. Background: Having recently purchased a new cedar fence, as part of a pet adoption build-out, we reached out to many exterior painters. Having spoken with a handful of exterior painters, willing to provide a loose quote, Fridenmaker was the most available and affordable. On the initial visit, they reviewed the site, asked a few questions, and gave us an estimate within around 15 minutes. Delivered in a professional stock folder and presented on professional stock paper, the bid included tax and a deposit. From there, we were given staining options, including advice on which stains would make sense. Finally, they took the time to explain the expectations regarding longevity of the workmanship. After mutually agreeing, we set a date, which was the following week. The next week, we received an email and a text notice of a pending arrival. Because of a technical issue, the intended date was off by one day, but the associate apologized for the mistake and assured us they would be out the following day. The next day they arrived around early, with materials in hand, and proceeded to work. Approximately a few hours in, I was asked to review the initial work, and was also explained the process regarding how the different textured wood would be treated. They completed their initial day by 5 pm. Following this, they informed me they would be delayed because of an employee emergency but would still arrive late and continue the work as promised. Nearly two days into the job, they let me review the gates and the nearly complete fence, making sure the work was what I had in mind. The final day, they arrived, assuring us they would complete the work on the fence and would be done in less than a few hours. Finally, approximately 3 hours later, they asked us to perform a walkthrough and afterward we wrote them a check for the work. Overall, we are satisfied with the work they performed. However, with the upcoming forecast for rain and winds, along with another temperate snowfall, time will tell if the workmanship will hold up. As always, your experience may vary.

It is not possible to overstate how good these guys are. Mine was a smaller job, a second story deck with a sliding door. My previous contractor for this job never bothered to show up, after waiting 6 months. I gave up on this project because in 2020-2021, construction costs skyrocketed as well as materials. No one wanted to do a small job like mine. Well I just took a chance, and called Ken. I couldn't believe how fair his pricing was, and he was able to start my job almost immediately, due to a break in his schedule. They showed up on time every day. He answered my calls immediately, every single time. The were so clean, inside and out. And when a problem rose up, as they do with every job, do you know what they did? They actually just went ahead and solved it without having to come to me and complain and ask for more money or whatever. They treated my job like it was the most important thing they had ever done.
