The moral of the story is, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. I'm sharing my experience so nobody else has to go through what I have. I gave Jay, the owner a quote from a reputable company who did an awesome job painting the exterior of my home 4 years ago. Jay's quote was $8400, which is $6000 less. He said in October 2025 it would take 10 days to finish and he has professional painters. We moved out 10/31 and the house was basically empty. We were replacing the carpet and outlets, so he didn't need to tape that off. We moved to Eastern Washington from the Seattle area, so I couldn't monitor him. At the end of November, he still wasn't done and said he needed an additional $2400 because he underbid the job. I paid him the additional $2400, plus another $1100 because that still wasn't enough. I also went to the store and spent $300 on 5 gallons of paint, because the additional $1100 was only covering the labor. In total I've paid $12,200 when the initial bid was $8400. He removed the doors and painted them vertically. There were runs all over them and all the hardware has paint all over them. In the middle of January, he took all the doors off, sanded them, rehung them and they still look like a 6th grader painted them. They have paint all over everything, including the new hardwood floors, bathtubs, toilets, cabinet, railings....ect....you name it, there's probably paint on it. The garage floor has paint all over it. The garage walls have the outlines of the doors they sprayed on them. The garage windows look like a flocked Christmas Tree. I finally lost it and told him to leave, and I have since hired someone else. His response was you didn't pay me enough, and you get what you pay for. I now have paid someone else $3000 to redo all the doors and trim work. They also are cleaning all the paint spills and spray. I've lost nearly 3 months and the job isn't done because of him.
