I registered for their Elements classes with Jordan and absolutely LOVED every minute of it! All of the coaches at CFFC are extremely knowledgeable and patient. They take the time to teach proper form for every movement to help avoid injury, but they know how and when to push you to reach your full potential and make progress. After completing Elements I purchased a monthly membership (which includes yoga and various workshops, as well as the opportunity to take classes at their sister gym, CrossFit Adaptation in Shirlington), and promptly cancelled my "traditional" health club membership -- no more treadmill for me! The gym is clean, full of a variety of equipment, and reasonably priced (compared to many other CrossFit gyms in the DC area). They offer a ton of classes each day (from 5:30am to 7:30pm) and there is a real sense of community among the members. I am always amazed at the variety of CrossFitters in each class -- all ages and all skill levels, all shapes and sizes. Thanks to Linsey and all of the other CFFC coaches, I can honestly say I look forward to each workout and I am actually a bit sad when my body tells me to take a rest day. I have enjoyed my time at CFFC so much that I purchased another Groupon for my husband -- he just finished Elements and is hooked!

Abdi would refuse to watch the pool when I needed a break and then he would lie about not have to do that. I also strongly suspected Abdi was selling drugs out of the back of the club. One time he threatened to fight me and I reported it and various staff members did not believe me or blamed me for it. I tried finding out what happened to Abdi but could not get a straight answer. I saw a lot of people with similar names to him on the Fairfax County Court Website but no idea of the actual guy. Otherwise McLean racquet and health club is okay. Good racquet club and workout rooms. Pool is kind of small.

Ok, let's start with the good. It's not much, but it is something: the primary thing this club has…read moregoing for it is its location. It is very centrally located to McLean. I also found the staff to be perfectly adequate during the months I was a member. Never dealt with any rudeness or unwillingness to help. I have heard in my time there that people have had issue with the owner, but I never interacted with him so I wouldn't know. The issue is really the quality of the facilities. It is a very, very old club and they have not done anything to update it. You'll see in a lot of reviews that people complain its impossible to get a court. I can confirm this. The courts are always full and it is a real pain to get one. I didn't use the pool a ton, but it seemed to not be too crowded. They have kickboards and floaters. But there are always kids in the pool, either taking private lessons or there with their parents learning to swim. If that's not the vibe you want, this isn't the place for you. Personally, I wouldn't' bring my kids here either, because of the locker rooms, but more on that below. On the surface, the restaurant, etc. seem fine. But stick around and you'll start seeing some real problems. The locker rooms are really disgusting. I hate to say it but they are. The shower curtains are moldy, the mats on the floor are stained and moldy, and the water pressure is nonexistent. The towels are, no joke, the size of hand towels and so thin that I wouldn't use them to wipe my floor, let alone give to club members. The soap and shampoo is cheap quality, and the dispensers are moldering and gross. There are hardly any benches to sit on. It is a very cramped and small locker room, with cramped and small showers. There's also the issue that this is a family club, so if you don't want kids gawking at you while you change, it's not the place for you. I have kids of my own, so I get it. But it's pretty uncomfortable to have little kids as old as 10 or 11 in a tiny locker room if you're trying to change into workout clothes. There is a stench in the locker room, too. It really smells like dirty socks. The toilets were always dirty--I don't think they send anyone in to clean them. The issue ends up being that this club isn't cheap. Basic membership is about $200 a month, but with family members and court service, the price climbs quickly. And its absolutely not worth it at that price. Not even close. I'd recommend that they: --Actually stock good towels and toiletries --Create a separate changing section for famlies --Stock towels that don't look like filthy rags --replace their showerheads --replace their shower curtains --replace the floor mats --get a few air purifiers in the locker room to get rid of the stench --create a better system for getting a court --hire some more regular cleaners All in all, this gym is worth maybe $40 a month, tops. Almost $200 is a shameless ripoff. Trust me, whether you need a tennis court, a gym, yoga classes--whatever it might be, this is not the place to get it.

I was impressed at the initial consulting, during which Robert explained to me that I was eating and exercising wrong!!! I trained with his wife, Atlantris, since then twice a week, who also gave me exercise and nutrition plans for home. She is tough and caring, just like how you want your trainer to be. I lost 13 lbs, went from size 8 to 4, and feel so much better. I am also stronger now and my endurance has improved considerably. Atlantris has also helped me with my diastasis recti and set me up with a ton of take home exercises. She has young children herself and understands special circumstances during post maternity. I recommend Atlantris to any woman that is having a hard time with weight loss, especially after a baby. The location is a no frills type of place. Just a few super skilled trainers and simple equipment to get you sweat a ton and feel your best. Don't be intimidated (like I was) because the sessions are tailored to your skill level. Personal training is a luxury but it is so worthwhile. Even if it is for a short time, you'll learn so much that I highly recommend anybody who wants a real change to try it out.

We were looking for trainers who could help us get into shape, lose weight and look forward to exercising. Both Robs were very interested in learning about our goals and how they could help us achieve them. In the beginning, I think it's fair to say we were both out of shape. We've now been working out with the Robs for almost three months and are in so much better shape than when we started. I've lost an additional seven pounds from when we started. In addition to working out two times per week, we have been getting "homework" each week to help us stay in shape in between sessions. We have steadily increased the number of miles we run per week and are now at 20 miles per week, something neither of us could have imagined we'd be doing when we started. We now do ab workouts twice and day, regularly stretch and also do other daily exercises, such as 100 pushups or jump squats. During training sessions, Rob Armstrong keeps the conversation flowing and makes the time go by quickly. Rob Wright is a bit more structured in his workouts but is no less fun to be around. Both are encouraging and provide guidance on working out and proper technique. We'd highly recommend working with Fitness Stop if you want to get into better shape and a better exercise routine. We're going to continue working out with the Robs after our first three-month contract term runs out. They're great guys and have helped us achieve our goals!
