Kinda ironic that these…read moreGYM-goers don't like stairs and walking hallways and it is not like you actually get lost or something. I have been a member almost a year now and I come here pretty much everyday, never had an actual issue. If there is an AC issue, or water temperature at the pool, "things breaking" can happen at almost every business, they are immediately taken care of. Awesome crew, on point cleanliness, actively renovating older spots, bathrooms, lockerrooms, etc - i have personally witnessed all of these in the past year. As for parking, of course, in the middle of McLean, at peak hours any business is going to have limited parking. This is common sense. Besides the peak hours, there is always space to park. One thing I would suggest tho, is to open up the pool registration hours to earlier hours as well, like 5am when the gym opens. I cant register for sooner than 7:15. Other then that, keep up the good work!

This place had such high reviews, I was excited to join the gym…read more 1. Front desk: very nice people, professional, easy to talk with and helpful. 2. However, the facility itself was in dire need of renovation. - pool: covered outdoor pool that works as indoor pool during colder months, but the condensation is much, you can't see anything. (See pic) - it is like a maze: hard to navigate easily and it reminds you of your public school set up - group classes itself were nice, but the AC AND the fans on the ceiling don't work, so imagine how hot it gets.. like 77 on my group class day. It was so uncomfortable. - if you need tennis or other courts: this is your best bet! They have so many tennis and other sport courts. So choose this location if you like tennis, squash etc. not a good fit for those who just wanna workout in group classes or swim in comfort. $90 a month plus $100 or so for initiation fee. 3. Indoor cafe available 4. Parking is a nightmare. Such a small lot for the number of people it serves. Those who live in McLean should just walk there. Then the walk itself will your workout!

Mike really knows his stuff and has been able to tailor programming to my needs very well. No cookie cutter programming here! I initially sought out training at TFN because I was having some pain with lifting, and Mike tweaked my technique and gave me lots of helpful cues that helped me to lift pain free so I can keep getting stronger. Highly recommend for any experience level!

Eventually, I started peaking out strength wise, and no matter what I did, I just seemed to be stuck. I simply figured that I wasn't ever going to get any stronger and that was that. That being said, in October of 2013, one of my (much stronger) friends had told me about checking out True Fitness because the trainers were also powerlifters and really know their stuff. I had the initial meeting with Elliot White who basically told me that my form was terrible and that I need to start all over again, but with guidance and lots of effort on my part, I would be considerably stronger than I was. I ended up going for it, and it was one of the best decision I could have ever made. Since then, I've almost doubled my strength, my flexibility is pretty amazing (especially given than I'm a pretty big at 250lbs) and I just feel great every day. I've gotten a lot more serious about my lifting, I've learned to eat much better than I used to, I've almost completely given up alcohol, and I'm even thinking about doing my first competition in April of 2014, something I had NEVER ever considered. Quite simply, my life changed for the better. If you've ever been curious about powerlifting, just need your form checked out, or just want to feel better about yourself without doing a ridiculous diet or anything, this is definitely the place to check out.

That then makes one of the stretching areas unusable. They also have swim team after work and school hours so you are sharing a pool with toms of young kids. It's dirty in bathrooms, the sinks are always dirty, all bathroom floors are wet, and showers are covered in hair. Disgusting! their cleaning people pass over issues rather than handling. Not to mention the fact weights are always missing and we have basketball courts making it so loud your noise cancelling headphones still won't block it out. You also can't get through to equipment unless you cross behind the courts so hopefully you can catch a ball. Also pretty sure the AC doesn't work at all. The one good part is the GM there is always kind but their upper management seriously needs to fix these issues or just close the gym at this point. It's embarrassing

Abdi would refuse to watch the pool when I needed a break and then he would lie about not have to do that. I also strongly suspected Abdi was selling drugs out of the back of the club. One time he threatened to fight me and I reported it and various staff members did not believe me or blamed me for it. I tried finding out what happened to Abdi but could not get a straight answer. I saw a lot of people with similar names to him on the Fairfax County Court Website but no idea of the actual guy. Otherwise McLean racquet and health club is okay. Good racquet club and workout rooms. Pool is kind of small.

Ok, let's start with the good. It's not much, but it is something: the primary thing this club has…read moregoing for it is its location. It is very centrally located to McLean. I also found the staff to be perfectly adequate during the months I was a member. Never dealt with any rudeness or unwillingness to help. I have heard in my time there that people have had issue with the owner, but I never interacted with him so I wouldn't know. The issue is really the quality of the facilities. It is a very, very old club and they have not done anything to update it. You'll see in a lot of reviews that people complain its impossible to get a court. I can confirm this. The courts are always full and it is a real pain to get one. I didn't use the pool a ton, but it seemed to not be too crowded. They have kickboards and floaters. But there are always kids in the pool, either taking private lessons or there with their parents learning to swim. If that's not the vibe you want, this isn't the place for you. Personally, I wouldn't' bring my kids here either, because of the locker rooms, but more on that below. On the surface, the restaurant, etc. seem fine. But stick around and you'll start seeing some real problems. The locker rooms are really disgusting. I hate to say it but they are. The shower curtains are moldy, the mats on the floor are stained and moldy, and the water pressure is nonexistent. The towels are, no joke, the size of hand towels and so thin that I wouldn't use them to wipe my floor, let alone give to club members. The soap and shampoo is cheap quality, and the dispensers are moldering and gross. There are hardly any benches to sit on. It is a very cramped and small locker room, with cramped and small showers. There's also the issue that this is a family club, so if you don't want kids gawking at you while you change, it's not the place for you. I have kids of my own, so I get it. But it's pretty uncomfortable to have little kids as old as 10 or 11 in a tiny locker room if you're trying to change into workout clothes. There is a stench in the locker room, too. It really smells like dirty socks. The toilets were always dirty--I don't think they send anyone in to clean them. The issue ends up being that this club isn't cheap. Basic membership is about $200 a month, but with family members and court service, the price climbs quickly. And its absolutely not worth it at that price. Not even close. I'd recommend that they: --Actually stock good towels and toiletries --Create a separate changing section for famlies --Stock towels that don't look like filthy rags --replace their showerheads --replace their shower curtains --replace the floor mats --get a few air purifiers in the locker room to get rid of the stench --create a better system for getting a court --hire some more regular cleaners All in all, this gym is worth maybe $40 a month, tops. Almost $200 is a shameless ripoff. Trust me, whether you need a tennis court, a gym, yoga classes--whatever it might be, this is not the place to get it.
